New android market problem - Galaxy Tab 10.1 General

Hello, I downloaded the new markets apk a couple of days ago. It's really great and works much faster then the original on the galaxy tab. I was wondering why every time I click on the market icon it brings me to the original market layout but when I click on 'my apps', it changes my layout to the new one I downloaded. How can I make it so I don't need to do that every time? Thanks!

This is because it has most probably installed 2 versions of your Market app. Goto your installed app list and check. Also what are you using as a Launcher? i.e Stock, Tasks?

I'm using stock, don't really like any other ui for tablets..

Agreed. It seems to be stable and smooth, including the market.

I just restarted my phone and the market is now different. From what I understand it's the froyo version of market. Maybe a good sign for us?

Don't get too excited, every phone is getting that market update. You're right though, it is the froyo market-style.

updated netflix app

didn't see this posted here in the OG galaxy forum yet, but I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that the latest version of the netflix app (released 7/20/11) is working on my OG galaxy tab (sprint CDMA version, running gingerbread, NOT rooted). This is no gaurantee it will work on everyone's tab, but i just thought i'd share ymmv
you can download the apk from this thread. then just sideload the app.
Does the latest version still ask you to upgrade?
Too bad I already cancelled my Netflix subscription. Just wasn't using it enough to keep it.

upgrade the app? no, it didn't ask. this is the latest version - 1.3.0 - that is available in the market.
Works great on my tab ...LOL grainy but cool...now I got **** to watch at work...
Sent from my SGH-T849 using XDA Premium App
yea, its a little grainy for me, but certainly watchable. then again, i'm not terribly surprised the quality isn't optimized on a device that isn't officially supported
Works on Stock 2.2 VZW CDMA!! Finally!
Thanks for posting.
Works fine with Roger Gsm tab running leaked latest Asian gingerbread
Basically the new Netflix app we can use blows too choppy not tuned for the tab

yea, it definitely needs work, but i'll take initial choppiness and a touch of lag over total nonfunctioning.
Works great on my stock rooted Verizon 7" tab.

Im new to the Galaxy tab 10.1 any tips

I'm new to the 10.1 and wanted to know what should I do, root or leave stock and I also want to say I love this tablet. And I do have the 7 on Verizon but this is soooo much different.

More reasons to root than to not. So IMHO, root root root.
But being new, first read read read.
If you can read this it was sent using my GT-P7510.
Install ADW EX launcher and enjoy the lag-free experience, that TouchWiz fails to provide.
Root it, install touchscreen tune and enjoy drawing and taking notes.
absolutely ROOT!
just for the feature of making nandroid backup and restore, and the ability to try new powerful roms!
Thank you all this tablet is awesome I love it.

D) Install setCPU and overclock to 1.2
E) Install TouchScreenTune and Titanium Backup
F) Enjoy a ROCKIN' Tablet

Also a very nice launcher is GO Launcher EX's beta which just blows my mind
If you want to dip your toe into Ice Cream Sandwich, I would head down to the Development Forums and download a preview ROM.

To keep things closer to your dad's experience there's FishmanMod which is an update to a very popular Bionix -v 1.3.1 Rom. It will fly compared to stock but everything works and it won't be totally unfamiliar to the dad.

be careful, the GS4g and Vibrant may look the same, but their flashing procedures are a bit different. read up and then do it.
Adding on to xriderx66, use this guide if you need a reference when backing up & flashing a custom rom to your dads phone... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028
Since he's already rooted start from: "OKAY, I HAVE ROOT - NOW WHAT? BACKUP!!!"
If your dad is happy with the stock ROM (with the exception of the speed) then I would definitely suggest going with something like the fishman mod that is based on the stock 2.2 ROM. That'll make sure he still has all the stock apps and such. I used Bionix for a LONG time and was always really happy with it.
I'm gonna show him bionix and see what he says
Sent from my galaxy s 4g using XDA app
I suggest showing him Fish's version of Bionix for the mere reason that Fishman is supporting it daily, while Team Whiskey is no longer.
Fish is good at what he does. My name is Woodrube and I endorse this message.

Good news, I suppose, after Samsung stated that they would NOT release ICS roms for the Galaxy S (I9000) or Galaxy Tab (P1000), so all we can look forward too is the Value Pack upgrade.

really?
Well...don't have a usable camera in CM9, many bugs, forced closes, restarts and battery usage(it screwed up my battery and had to change it after some CM9 and AOKP flashes). So that's why I prefer the stock rom...
Also, a good version is CM7 Boca...it really moves incredible!!!
Cheers!
