Hello a friend of mine has the my touch 4g and I wanted to know which rom was the closest to stock (sense included) but had the few nice features like OC/UV and stuff like that. If there isn't one like that which one is the most buttery smooth?
I have a captivate and the cognition rom is the same idea of what im looking for if anyone knows what im talking about.
Thanks in advance

Isn't Orange Glacier supposed to be even closer to stock? I would assume the closest to stock would be the most stable...not saying Ice is buggy, but wondering if I understand this correctly...
Definitely the closest thing to stock would be the stock ROM. You won't believe it's not stock!

Rooted stock rom + custom kernel that's made for stock rom= closet to stock rom w/ uv+oc.
[via XDA app]
I'd say Royalglacier just because it's always being worked to perfection
How would you compair stock with a custom kernel to a whole custom rom?
On the captivate the stock rom has a lot of issues. The customs are wwaaaayyy better.

Stock is pretty good on the Myt4g, but the customs are better. Roms such as cm7, royal glacier, as well as many others are constantly being updated. Just find one that suites you best. A customer kernel isn't going to change your experience to incredibly much. Maybe add a little stability, possibly better performance, and you can oc.
the driver updates on faux's kernels are pretty important. You'll notice the touchpanel update immediately. It's the easiest thing to spot when first switching. Lighter touch registers, clean and smooth. I think he called it finger porn.
I have ran evervolv in the past but have been running the latest versions of CM7 for about 4 months, I love all the customization options, but I do get some quirks, and random reboots etc.. occassional lag
I am wondering what you guys would recomend as far the fastest and most stable GB rom
Evervolv? Evo deck? MIUI? etc?

Well deck is just renamed cm7.

CM7 is ok, kernel that comes with it is horrible though. Nightlies are better than their stable release.
Deck has been extremely stable and I've had zero hiccups with it. Basically identical to cyanogen.
I agree with cares deck is extremely stable I really like it
but I love miui look

Deck is awesome, much faster/reliable than CM has ever been for me. Though after moving to an area with no 4G I switched to MIUI and I absolutely love it.
Deck's is without question the best for my phone. I've kept it running longer than any other ROM.

Try again.
I'd love to use MIUI but the no 4G on it is a deal breaker Deck's has been a lot faster and stable than CM was for me on my Evo. I'd skip CM all together and just try Deck's if you want an AOSP ROM.
From my understanding Deck's is CM7 with everything stripped out except for EVO specific features/kangs. That may or may not make it faster, I dont know because Ive never used it, but that is my understanding of the difference.
I rock CM7 Nightlties...I get at least 1day 5hrs minimum now...lol
+1 to decks ...Neva had had reboot on it and GPS works flawlessly

Not necessarily true, it is majorly based off of CM7. If you read the post for the deck rom it has other things pulled from other GB rom's as well. It's certainly not just a "renamed CM7" because it works for me a lot better stability wise. He has also fixed a lot of things that CM7 hadn't. Not knocking the CM team whatsoever because we wouldn't have Deck's if it wasn't for them.

Just to add my two cents... I run cm7, I enjoy the bloat and custom settings. No, deck is not cm7. A lot of roms use stuff from cyanogen just because he and his team do so much work. However you have to give credit to Deck for his rom being a compilation of his own. Like it was said read the opening post for his rom and you will see.
If you want super clean basic gingerbread that you can do whatever customization you want go with deck. If you want gingerbread that has been tweaked and had included tweaks options go cm7.
I will give props to savaged zen here as well. Very similar to cm7, but not the same! I love the included kernel tweaks, no need for script but less customizable. It is awesome that a Dev would include a custom kernel specifically built around their rom.
Honestly we have such awesome choices for gingerbread and they keep getting better. Try them all and find out which suits your needs best.
EVO 0003, CM7 stable, Tiamat, Vipermod, V6 Supercharger.

to OP:
I've been trying a lot of roms lately too. For AOSP, go with Decks 1.2. Its lightweight, fast and pretty awesome. If you want sense, do a search for Synergy Nightlies and you'll find what your looking for. Another good alternative is MikG 2.0
I've been rocking Deck since the pre release of 1.0. But in the last couple of weeks have been trying out the Sense 2.1+3.0 hybrids. After flashing MikG/Alliance, I haven't really had the desire to go back to AOSP.
I've had CM7 for awhile and today i had an important place to go to but the GPS was so spotty i couldn't get to it and i read this post and decided to flash Decks and i gotta say the GPS works flawless and the stability is just superb.
What would be the best rom to use on my wifes phone?
Will need to be stable so she doesnt nag me... Plus faster as its currently laggy on stock
CM7? If so is the stable release the best to use?

CM7 stable 7.0.3, I've been using it for about 2 days, and I don't have any issues with it
I would suggest Anonimos rom, it's lightning fast, been using it for about 4 days and no issues so far.
Gingerbread: cyanogenmod latest nightly.
Sense: wildpuzzle v8
Froyo: openfire

Thanks, which provides best speed , stability and battery performance? I dont think she would notice the difference between GB/Froyo.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Best for speed is cyanogenmod7 its very stable too with built in overclocking. Its better then froyo
But if she is used to sense then get wildpuzzle it is faster than stock and is very stable and for added speed can also be overclocked with the right kernel

My CM7 had the market installed, as far as I know.
It was there from when I installed it.
Did you include the Google Apps download? That's optional, but well worth installing.
Market needs the GApps package. Anyhow, good choice, because, for "non-tinkerers", using Sense ROMs is preferable, because you get a good, no-nonsense (lol) experience.
Well there you go!
A friend of mine has the Sprint hero. After he saw my custom ron on my inc he asked if there was anything for his phone. I have looked but don't see any roms for the daily use guy for the hero. Do any of you have any stable hero roms that you recommend?

For daily use we normally use aosp, CM7, deck, or Jaybob's. All of those are based on aosp. Sense 2.3.3 is available with the wildhero by flashinglights
Everyday I'm shufflin'!

+1 I personally went with deck, because it seems to perform so much more smoothly, but wildheroc has some features that are simply awesome. downside is that gps is still having issues on just about all of the roms, so if you are really looking for something comfy and stable, I'd suggest AOSP 2.2 as it is kinda the go to for a lot of folks; honestly though, I have been on Gingerbread since abut January and it would be VERY hard to go back to 2.2 or stock; I would just lose so much functionality and personalization; Hope that helps;
The OMGB rom would be my recommendation (not omfgb). It's the most stable rom i've tried on the Hero and its nice and small. It doesn't have all the extra bells and whistles of a Cyanogenmod rom but it's a little more stable and just as fast. Run it with firerats and you'll have plenty of app space.

Wildhero for sense or kushdecks for speed. Both with jaybobs .35 kernal

The one that has worked best for me is the Community Rom. I wish it came with the old lock screen as an option though. Thats my only prob with it.. other than that, it's been the most stable of all that i've tried!
The most stable ROM is FROYO stock. But that's probably not what you were looking for.
-xdadevelopers-user
Nils 3.0 v2.2 (or 2.1 or whatever version I'm on) is working extremely well for me, I think the bigger question is what about it isn't working for you?
The most stable rom you can use is decks aosp which is built to 2.3.5
No froyo space issues...or lag from the newer sense ports.

You haven't tried the new desire HD 3.0 roms. There is absolutely zero lag and it honestly runs almost as good as the OTA.

I am not sure how you would know what Roms I have tried.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

This is the most stable ROM I've found so far.
I'm a big fan of Jermaine's I'm a big fan of Jermaine's In-Sensitive Minimalist ROM. It has by far been the most stable ROM I have used. If you're looking for Sense 3.0 he has a Dee-Zire ROM that is AOSP/Sense 3.0.
I haven't personally tried it, but if it's anything like his other work I'm sure it's top notch.

Well a suggestion for sense 3.0 is kingdom stock ginger sense 3.0 it was last updated in June but I've ran it and it's a nice rom though if everything force closes do a factory reset
Desire HD vfive
Try that one is most stable by wildstang
the video recording is choppy for now though but is stable and is sense 3.0
I'm running McSense and everything is stable and fast, but it seems to be taking longer to charge the phone.
No complaints other than that!
For the most stability I'd recommend something close to the stock GB that was recently released, with some enhancements. Two ROMs that stick out in my mind are jermaine's stock+ and mcd's mcsense. Both devs have senseless versions as well which are just as stable.

+1 Jermaine has the most stable ROMs as they are the closest to stock. I personally drive IM 2.3.1 and love it. He stopped his Sense 3.0 ROM in beta for not living up to his standards. You can trust his development to be 100% stable.
I'm running the 666th Sense ROM and loving it. It's the stock framework with some awesomely twisted tweaks, and with tiny's kernel the battery is running better than ever. I've lurked here for forever and have learned a lot - figured I'd throw in my $.02 for whatever it's worth.
Good luck in finding something you love.
