MIUI 1.9.30 problem(s) - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

I'm having the same widget problem as blackspawn @ dev. section. For example, Minimal Reader appears just blank, unless I switch from one theme to another and even after that it's unresponsive (the buttons aren't working and can't refresh the feed). Same goes with Calendar, if I change a skin, nothing happens. Nothing serious but annoying to say the least. Nevertheless, once you go MIUI, there's no going back. Hopefully these little errors get fixed soon.

Ok, this does not make sense at all, but after wiping dalvik cache and installing the multi-language pack, we're back on business. Or so it seems; all widgets are functional again. Weird.

This week they included a patch in the launcher to support scrollable widgets, but there was a problem with the initial release which has been rectified.
Multilanguage uses a different launcher, so this is why applying the update fixes things.
If you've already got 1.9.30 and don't plan on using the Multilanguage patch you can use the fixed launcher uploaded by flibblesan here: http://www.mediafire.com/?7ja47s7q4ho4czo

Alright, thank You.

Stability of Nexus Launcher/Launcher2

Hi all. I've just been wondering... has anyone else besides me ran into countless problems using the Nexus Launcher/Launcher2 on their phone? I'm running Fresh 2.0d with the included .apk, and here are some bugs I've found:
Unresponsiveness
Screen turns black and stays black requiring a battery pull
Launcher will launch without displaying icons in the menu
Now, it is not only Flipz's ROM that has these problems either... it is EVERY ROM I've tried. I'm sure most of you will tell me to use Helix Launcher. I have tried it, but it doesn't have the same feel that the Nexus Launcher has.
Has anyone found a fix for these stability issues? If not, I'd like to start a project so we can get this working, because I'm sure it's completely possible. After all, Flipz was able to get the 2.1 lockscreen working!

I am running fresh2.0d and stock screen turns black and needs battery pull when I use camera app and hit back button or any button.
Launcher has been pretty responsive except here and there....
I do get to the mode where no icons on home screen for few seconds at times but it recovers pretty soon....
As far as the lock screen, I ran in to an issue while my corporate policy forced me to assign lock/unlock password! Soon I enable password and lock, phone stops responding!!! I have to either pull the battery or issue reboot command via prompt!!!
I hope this helps.... I am not a developer though....
I have been disappointed by the nexus launcher's performance as well.
The black screen requiring a reboot (or if you hold home and happen to have settings in the app switch menu you can force kill it and restart it) is a common occurrence with seemingly no pattern. Sometimes it after a long browsing session, other times its happens after deleting a single e-mail message and returning to the main screen. The only consistent way to make it happen is to hit back after launching camera from the app drawer.
Ive also noticed in every rom with launcher, that when coming out of the launch screen the app shortcuts and widgets on the home screen don't load instantly. Almost as if the launcher was killed while it was asleep and when unlocking it, it is reloaded.
It's disappointing because as you said, while helixlauncher is an OK alternative, nothing else has quite the same feel as nexus launcher. Unfortunately I think it will take a good bit of modification to make it a perfect match with the hero and I have absolutely 0 idea where to even begin .
Flipz, if you ever read this, could you offer some insight on this? You've worked your magic on the 2.1 lockscreen
The only rom i had it running great on was Darchlegend v4.1 i think it was, i finally said forget it and started using helix
Every one i have tried has been buggy as well. Things mught improve once we get the hero 2.1 source. Or once google decouples them.

Tazz Froyo FAQ section
Just a few screenies. The home screen here is using Launcher Pro Plus (available in the market)
Whats this music app in here? It looks "different".
-Thats the MIUI music app. Tazz has graciously replaced the stock music apk with this as it is a bit snappier and nicer to use. It has auto d/l of album art, and lyrics. It has all the functionality of the stock music app as well as the lock screen controls and bt playback controls. Thanks Tazz.
Problems? (odd behavior, FC's, etc)
-Wipe, flash, reboot, then see if you still have problems.
-99% of the problems posted are because of a bad install. Wipe x3 and flash. If there are bugs reboot. If the problems continue re-dload and try again. Do this b4 reporting bugs, it will fix most unknown problems.
Wheres my Gmail, Market, and other google apps?
They are not there because you didnt read the install instructions good enough to see the part about having to flash the google apps after the rom because devs cannot package google apps in a cyanogen based rom legally, so go back, download them, and flash them on. Current version has gapps included with ROM.
Why is my display percentage of use so high in battery usage stats?
This is exactly what you want. Keep in mind this is percentage of battery use, not percentage of the whole day. Basically think of it like this. If your phone has been unplugged for 4 hrs and you have been doing stuff with your phone 70% of all your battery usage for 4hrs has been to light the display. The problem would come if 70% went to cell tower roaming/wifi/camera/other apps. That would mean they are constantly running in the background draining your battery. The display only uses battery when lit. The percentage is high only because all the other things are running effeciently thus making the time the display is on the high peice of the pie.You also don't need to set the display too low to save battery. Around 40% should be fine for good battery life.
MMS problems (should work in current version)
-There are two ways to try and fix this if for some reason you cannot send/recieve mms.
1.Download APN backup and restore from the market, crank the app up one time and make a backup so it will create the folder you will need on your sdcard, download the file at the end of this line, unzip it and put the APN into the APN backup folder on your sd card, click "delete APNs" and then "Restore APNs" and choose the working apn. apns-Ivans.zip
2.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7177591&postcount=3015
Do I need Setcpu on this ROM
No, you don't need it. Feel free to use it to crank your speed up. It is overclocked to 710mhz out of the box. Many have found this to be more than satisfactory speed without using Setcpu at all.
What are the recommended settings for Setcpu
-Temp > 42.1C 528max 245min priority: 100
-Screen Off 528max 160min priority: 94
-Charging/ Full: 768max/min
-Battery < 100% 245min 768max
No in-browser Flash support
-known issue. YouTube works.
Camera app doesn't workCamera works great in current version.
-Known bug. Some success using "Camera Magic" from the Market
Barcode scanner not workingWorks in current version.
-Related to Camera not working
Says it does not recognize my sdcard
-This is due to your sdcard being partitioned more than likely. You can either format the entire card on a pc to fat32 or use recovery to unpartition. FROYO not recognize the ext partitions on your card. A2sd on FROYO stores all the apps in the same partition as everything else, just in a separate folder that it creates on its own.
-Boot to recovery.
-partition sdcard.
-0 swap
-0 ext2 for apps2sd.
-this will make one whole fat32 partition. (YOU WILL LOOSE ANY DATA ON CARD AS IT WILL BE FORMATED SO BACK UP YOUR CARD FIRST!)
Very laggy after installing ROM
- Give it a few minutes. It is syncing a ton of information from your contacts, calendars, and settings to the google appsync which will reload all your market apps that google indexed if you are coming from one FROYO ROM to another. It works great and gets you phone pretty close to where you last were if you leave it alone for a bit and let it get caught up. It only happens on the first boot anyway.
Trackball not flashing for notifications
- This was fixed in V5.In work still.
MetaMorph themes
-Yes metamorph themes do work with this ROM. Any cm6 theme should work without complications and some cm5 themes will also. The framework.apk (which changes the notification bar and dropdown as well as wallpaper) is the most common part to work well w all mods.
Heres a few that we know work.
-Transparent Chaos 2.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768628
-Suavesque http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709481
-Simplistic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739804
-Minimal Matte http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726912
Cloverdales Magic Elixir http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=673044
Unresponsive Google setup screen. Thanks Busphan Should not be an issue in current version.
Two steps.
-The first is: if unresponsive and showing no 3G signal wait a few minutes for the 3G to show then proceed with setup.
-Second: if unresponsive and showing 3G signal bypass setup by touching all four corners of the screen starting with the top left and going clockwise. At the bottom touch the screen just above the language and emergency call buttons.
-After bypassing the setup screen either manually add Google account through account and sync, or if the option isn't there reboot into recovery and flash Google apps again then reboot. Setup screen should work.
What is dalvik cache and what does it do?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7457011&postcount=1067
I want to remove ADW
-This flashable zip will remove ADW from the rom. ADW bgone
Can't get dialer to press 2 when doing *228
-either dial *22899, or dial *228, then long-press menu to bring up the keyboard
Notification bar sometimes hides
-ADW thing. Slide your finger up to hide, slide up again to show. Can disable in ADW settings.
Apps launch in background on boot
-That's because that's how Android works. It starts all the apps and keeps them sorta resident to allow you to start them faster. If they need to exit, then Android will kill them. Thats why task-killers are generally not such a good idea. They screw with the design of Android's application process control.
Live Wallpapers FC
-LWP must be the correct size for the Eris screen
-Many of the ones in the market work fine. Processor intensive or ones made for nexus will not work or bog the phone down.
Will sense Apps/Widgets work on this ROM?
-Nope. No sense widgets. This is a "non-sense" ROM. There are some sense-like widgets that you can get though.
-Try pure widgets (Pure messenger, pure calendar, pure music)
-Try Beautiful Widgets for clock/weather
Suggested CyanogenMod Settings
-use compcache (I leave it unchecked, don't see significant performance enhancement from this)
-use Jit checked off (no significant performance enhancement seen w Jit on)
-enable surface dithering (I don't personally use it as I don't feel the difference in appearance in a non HD device is not noticeable)
-vm heap size to 24mb
How can I uninstall system apps (DO A NANDROID BACKUP BEFORE PERFORMING ANY OF THESE AS MANY OF THEM ARE INTERDEPENDENT AND YOUR PHONE MAY NOT WORK CORRECTLY IF YOU REMOVE A PROGRAM THAT SHOULD NOT BE REMOVED)
-Titanium backup will uninstall a lot
-root explorer (can set containing folder to r/w and delete apk file)
-adw interface commands to remove files (Google it)
Downloading now. I can't wait to check this out. Tazz, your stuff is alway good. I will report back with my experience later.
Might I suggest adding "CM6" or "Froyo" or "2.2" or similar to the title ?
Is the Google Apps package updated ? If not, I'll use the one I just downloaded 1-2 days ago.

awesome rom man, It would be perfect if the soft key lights worked, I tried the temp. fix but it doesn't work right for me, they turn with the screen off, and turn off with the screen on lol

My Computer Doctor presents:
- The Electric Factory v1.0 -
The Electric Factory is based on HTC's Sense 2.1[2.11.605.5 OTA] Backbone and has been totally worked over. Sense UI (Rosie) has been removed. In it's place I have implemented QQLauncher Pro v1.5, a powerful, quick, sexy launcher. Most of the UI has been themed and customized in some way. If there are things you would like to see added please let me know. This is my first ROM and I look forward to building more in the future.

That was actually a typo, the ROM does in fact have imoseyon's v5.0.1 Lean Kernel installed from the gate. He makes a wonderful engine for the Android OS and deserves mad props for his hard work. Enjoy, and let me know what you think. I am just learning and getting excited about ROM development and your comments (good or bad) are appreciated.

I actually had tossed around the idea about releasing the ROM with multiple sense-less versions and GOLauncher was the launcher I used initially. Then I found QQ and I really liked it. I'm not sure how in depth you got into tweaking it, but there are some really cool options and settings included and if you play with the configuration a bit, you can create some really nice themes. Let me know what you think. This is my first ROM and I am just getting started with Android development so comments (good or bad) are appreciated.

So good so far. I did however notice lots of HTC/Sense elements left in this ROM. I used TB and just froze them. Doing this seemed to add 40-60MB of free ram at bootup. I switched launchers as well. I decided to give the ICS launcher a try. Would love to have a patch to remove recent apps and google location services icon. Will be dropping you a lil sum on Fri!!! EXCELLENT JOB on your virgin ROM!!!!!!!!!!

It was my intention to leave in a large majority of Sense. I tend to use a lot of it's internal and hidden features.
Great job on your first ROM. Its beautiful, and I actually like qq launcher. I never used it before but it fits this ROM perfect. Only thing I didn't like was the pink SMS lockscreen icon, but other than that great job. Looking forward to flashing more of your work.
Edit: I noticed after I initially posted this that qq launcher comes with a wicked lockscreen replacement! So I guess no more pink SMS icon.
McD, this looks supa Sexcee,,this may be the only sense rom that keeps me from miui until mms issue gets resolved good job
Very nice job. This is a well done ROM and I'm really starting to like it. It definitely needs some tweeking but you're headed in the right direction. I do like the off-animation but the font's a little hard to read sometimes.
changes I've made so far:
-new boot screen(looked cool but that beeping had to go)
-installed go launcher ex
I'm interested to see where you go with this, I transferred over because my former ROM was abandoned by the dev
Looks good, going to give it a try.
Gonna give this a try, I tend to stick with Sense roms, I like AOSP but their are still a few too many annoying bugs, but this one based on Sense looks sweet, and in theory should still have the stability of a sense based rom.
Since I swapped out the bootanimation, the downanimation doesn't work anymore. Know why it did that/how to fix it(other than putting the original bootanimation back).
edit: I've also noticed imoseyon has an update to his kernel you may want to update that next time you do anything with this.

I am not quite sure why you would all of a sudden be having an issue with the shutdown animation unless you overwrote the original one. I will have an update coming out with some really nice additions coming in a couple of days. Thanks for the information.
Nevermind, I messed something up by accident. Fixed now. Looking forward to that update.

Clock widgets stop working on ICS

I have been seeing an issue on my Arc S where, after playing something quite memory intensive (such as Draw Something). when I return to the home screen my clock widget is not showing the correct time (see screen shot - note the time in the top-left is different to the widget). It's driving me nuts. Any ideas? Here's what I know:
I have seen this on GB before back when I first got my Arc S in December last year. Again when using a lot of memory (Maps for example). So it isn't necessarily a new issue.
It is much worse since the official release of ICS. I don't remember if this happened on the beta but it's possible I wasn't using my phone to play as many games.
It affects all the clock widgets I've tried. I have tried the supplied analogue clocks, digital clocks and the HTC Sense 4 clock pictured.
Sometimes if I leave the screen on the clock will sort itself out.
Sometimes it stays like this for good until the widget is deleted and re-added.
Sometimes locking the screen for a little while will fix it.
A full reinstall doesn't fix this.
I am now on 4.0.4 (clean install last night) and the issue persists.
I am running the stock ICS kernel with CWM (from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591279)
I know of one other user having this issue (and he's on Arconium)
I think this is probably an issue with the Sony Launcher but any suggestions are welcome because it's most annoying that I can't even rely on my clock widget to tell the right time!
I might try the Nexus launcher and see if the problem persists.
So I tried the stock ICS launcher (Launcher2) and the same problem exists.
Perhaps this is a kernel problem.

Your clock widget gets killed due to out of memory when you run heavy applications . See "Running Services" at Settings>Applications. You will notice that the widget is 'restarting'.
Sent from my LT15i using XDA
So why doesn't it restart properly? Seems odd. Even if the launcher reloads completely the clock stays "stuck".
Guess I'll have to live with it.
I could give SuperCharger a go and try to make the clock widget HTK...
This also happened to me while I was on Gingerbread, and I was unable to find a solution...
P.S. I accidentally pressed thanks button on your last post rec71, LOL

Annoyances/Bugs in Samsung Jelly Bean (DLH7) update

To be honest, I really love this update. So many new things! Made me feel like I have bought a new phone all over again. But there are a few issues..
1- Grey statusbar. Why Samsung changed it from black? God knows why
2- Background in the toggles panel in "Notification pull-down", [not the color of toggles itself]. It feels so out of place. The color doesn't match Touchwiz color scheme.
3. WiFi has very slow speed, and can't maintain connection. <<< this is the killer bug for me!
4. Browser will force close (FC) when users try to go to bookmark selection.
5. Help app is very weird. The "step-by-step" guide (e.g for WiFi) is pointing to the wrong location. This is maybe caused by the major changes that Samsung has done to the Settings app. If this bug is still present in final release, then many people will complaint, especially the non-technical one. Samsung made that "easy home screen mode" for a reason, to help those new smartphone users. That "Help" app was supposed to go hand-in-hand with the new Home screen mode.
6. Phone will vibrate even though there is nothing happening, no notification whatsoever.
-Possible causes are WiFi error, and apps FC.
7. New widgets (the white one) are great, only that it doesn't match the color scheme of the old widgets.
-Most of old widgets are in black, e.g Music player, FM radio, Mono Audio, Negative colours. The new widgets, e.g Dialer, Favorite apps, Favorite contacts, Favorite settings, Messaging and Simple alarm clock widgets are all in white. Only two of the new widgets retain the black color scheme of the old widgets, which are the "turn off all sounds" and the "smart switch" widgets.
8. AC charging is very slow, did not test USB charging but some users said it's slow too.
9. Battery draining.
-This might be caused by mediascanner that's constantly running in background, and scanning without stopping.
-Other possible cause is the random vibration bug (point #6) which makes the phone awake so often.
10. Touchwiz is very unstable.
-Sometimes, folder will not close and stays on every homescreen I go (sorta like Pop Up Play).
-Seldomly, app shortcut (or icon or whatever you want to call it) will be replaced with an invisible icon that takes up space. Touchwiz will FC if I try to put an app shortcut to that empty space.
I might add more when I found it, I'm using Omega v16.1. Hopefully this post will help someone, especially those who want to upgrade but can't make up their mind whether they should or not, and not to forget Samsung development team (damn you cunning bastards, LOL!) :silly:

Didn't anyone told you it is not an official/final "update"? it's a leaked firmware and not really an update. and why create another thread when there are several threads out there discussing LH7? these listed bugs are known.

Relax, man. I labeled this thread with very specific title, to discuss bugs in Samsung DLH7 update. The fact that I mentioned "bugs" means I know the rom is still not an official rom, that is leaked to public. You gained nothing by being a prick in the online world.

I know about both fixes because I have been reading posts in Omega thread discussing the latest custom rom (Omega v16). I just want to make a thread with all bugs I found (that shouldn't need fixing in the first place), so that it will give others (that is still on ICS rom but wants to try JB rom) some kinda warning, before flashing.

You forgot the Keyboard bug.

Keyboard bug annoying, and the fact that there hasn't been an extended power menu created as yet for it (not really a bug but missing none the less)

Also got no keyboard bug and about extended power menu, wanam lite has it
Also maybe point to the already present solutions to the browser and WiFi bug and show the positive aspects as well, like the smoothness etc.

Since its a beta, bugs are expected. However, I feel that LH4 and LH6 were much better than LH7. LH7 is bit slower and ram leaks. Also I don't like that why voice commands are merged into s-voice again.
Not got an opinion on leaked test roms that are not the final build .

i think the random vibrations seem to be events like wifi connecting and disconnecting. it took me a while to figure that out.
also seems to be a bug with the gmail notifications. when you collapse the notification it shows the text as partially is cut off instead. not quite sure how to explain it. but it was working properly in LH6.
they are either changing a lot of things and testing, or they keep doing things which ends up breaking something else.
