Hello all, I just wanted to get some community feedback on an issue I am having with my hd2. First of all when charging my phone with winmo the battery only gets slightly warm, the same goes if the hd2 is charging while powered off.
Now the problem is while using Android. The battery seems to be heating up to 41 - 45 c. Also most of the heat being output comes from right under the 5 buttons. I have noticed that if I the reboot into winmo and the battery is less than 100% the indicator light will alternate green and orange every 3 seconds, but this only happens after rebooting from android. Now if I do a hard reset this fixes the problem.
Any thoughts as to what it might be? Possibly a radio issue?
Sounds like you are dual booting - something I have never done, but as there is more going on when you boot into Android and the phone has dual boot, I would imagine that its linked to that. The CPU will have much more to do and using power and charging at the same time is sure to push up the temps on the phone fast
Have you considered a nand Android rom? the Froro versions are very fast, stable and suitable for 24/7 use inmh of course.
I think that. the heat issue would then vanish

Hi,
i have noticed that my phone is very warm when i make a phone call with it, yesterday i had a long phone call, about 1 hour and the phone crashed during the call (no blinking led, no reaction from the display, nothing). First i thought the battery was low, i pluged the battery charger in the phone but nothing happens, no blinking LED, no reaction from the phone. I took out the battery and pluged it again in but notting happend. After 30 Minutes i tryed to turn the phone on again and it worked.
So i think this was a heat problem.
I have the Firmware from Tom installed and the Radio Version RUU Nike Radio 1.58.16.27.
Has got any one noticed the same problems ?? I hope this is not a hardware bug.
well phone gets warm from time to time - but nothing one should worry about. do you use 3g ?
also i use the latest modded kaiser radio from netrunner and personally feel battery life is much better and also signal.

phone crash may have various reason of which the most are software related.
as from your description it appears like it was a heat problem but again - i never heard that before ....
no i dont use 3g at the moment, 3g was turned off.....
i hope this happens not again, i only had this one time yet. we will see on the next phone call that takes longer what is happening.....
mine gets very warm at the bottom too. It is normal I think.
I have a constant connection to the net via gprs now as when i have a constant 3g/hsdpa connection the phone is hot. The phone is also hot when charging. Maybe they will add some tweaks to improve the batterylife and temp like powerstepping or something to reduce the power used when its not needed and also lower the temp.
Hmm... This seems important. I find that leaving it constantly on, and for example, chatting via some type of IM app really makes it warm. I'm going to use my extended battery tomorrow, and see how it lasts. Wish me luck!
I have a problem with Niki heating up, but it heats up heavily when charging; using acbPowerMeter i read 700mA .. when in standby it says ~45mA. With a Tytn i didn't noticed a heating problem when charging.
Did you ever read the current when you noticed the heating ?

THANKS FOR THAT ADVICE!!! running the modded kaiser rom and its ultra low battery consumption!!!
I bought this Hero off eBay, and it was dodgy since the begining.
The phone had cyanogen, and was restarting itself occasionally.
So i wiped it, installed 2.1 and it got fixed, but now i have a problem with battery drainage.
Its insance, 10minutes-10% im pretty sure its not supposed to be like that. with or without wifi/3d turned on, its just riddiculous.
I borrowed battery from a friend, and that didint make any change, i installed latest update from the autoupdate in the phone and still its bad. I read somewhere here that its faulty email app that keeps on trying to sync and drains battery, how do i fix that ?
I did a full wipe, cleared cache and everything back to factory settings, with no apps installed it goes from 100% to 0% in an hour.
I downloaded 2.1 from some android forum, as i was unable to find one here (there are only links to 1.5 on the xda.wiki WHY?)
If you can point me to a proper 2.1 (or higher?) software to download that doesnt do this crazy **** i'll be happy as infant on crack.
Please help, here is my software information:
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Baseband version: 63.18.55.06JU_6.35.09.26
Kernel version: 2.6.29-063c4d24
Build number: 3.32.405.2 CL191507release-keys
Software number: 3.32.405
Browser version: WebKit 3.1
Try calibrating your battery it gave me a huge boost on my hero... went from getting 16hours day.. to about 30hours on a single charge!!
Every time you flash a new ROM you need to calibrate your battery. The battery meter in the OS (Android in this case) is generated based on the battery stats file.
Battery stats is erased when you flash a new ROM.
Easiest method of battery calibration when you're intending on flashing a ROM:
Ensure battery is fully charged according to the OS. Switch phone off, unplug charger and plug back in. Once light is green, leave charging for another 30 minutes (light goes green at approx 95% charge).
Switch on, flash ROM. Allow first boot to complete.
Shut phone off. Disconnect charger. Remove battery. Replace battery. Place on charge, light green, leave charging another 30 minutes, yadda yadda. Switch phone on, boot immediately to recovery. Wipe battery stats.
Boot phone up. Now would be a good time to install JuicePlotter. Use as normal. Do not charge, let the battery run down completely. When the phone shuts itself off, power it back on. Repeat process until it won't switch on anymore.
Remove the battery. Put the battery back. Turn the phone on. Repeat until it won't turn on anymore.
Now charge the battery on the mains to 100% while the phone is off, keep charging for 30 minutes after light goes green. Power on. Voila, fully calibrated battery.
The last part, run until completely dead and charge only needs to be done once in a while (this is calibrating the battery innards, not the battery stats)

hah, yea thats what i accidentally figured. phone was switching off, but when i powered it back on it had 30%.. and it was like that 3 or 4 times.
I ran it down completely and now am charging it till max, we'll see what happens. at worst i'lkl start your process from the beginning thx !
I diidnt know you had to do that. i've been playing with my G1 and not even once i had to calibrate that.. maybe i should
How'd it go? Any improvement on battery life?
it diidnt help I did what you quoted step by step and its still running down the battery like crazy :/ what else can i do ? im thinking of switching to 1.5 but thats just not progressive and my friends phone is running fine on 2.1, with the same battery even.
Edit: i've installed task killer and killed all the mail checking apps.. hope that is the problem
Edit2: it didint help at all, in 5 minutes i lost 15% fcuking hell !
I just switched to 1.5 and its still happening ! I using a different battery and its just as bad... why is this happening to me
ill try second to latest radio from xda wiki.. im running out of ideas, what else can i do ?
That really wierd... its not the battery if you have tried using different ones. Its not the ROM if u have changed it.
Have you tried disabling auto-updates? and auto-checks for emails. Which email client do you have? you should find the option to "sync-never" in the app settings.
Buying it from ebay is kinda ominous though.. was it described as faulty? perhaps you could contact the seller and request a refund is all else fails?
you can try using setcpu to underclock the cpu.
i have similar situation as you. before going to bed around 11pm, it showed 50% left, turned on airplane mode, then in the morning around 6am, phone was powered off.
now it has been 2 days, still have 20% left.

Did you ever take into consideration that some part of the hardware might be damaged?
Devices that got water damaged, sometimes show weird symptoms as well:
- They still boot up and seem to work well from the first sight
- The battery drains very quickly
- Some of the peripherals are not working stable or not starting up anymore (e.g. wifi, bt, gps)
- Other crazy things might happen as well (e.g. random reboots, backlight flicker, etc.)
So you might have a look at the mainboard. Red stickers indicate water damage!
Regards,
scholbert
Yea but if it were damaged would it show 50% battery after restarting thinking it had reached 5% ? i dont have the tools or will to unscrew it.
i paid 100 pounds fo it, the normal price of a used hero, but the auction said "phone restarts for no reason" and they do not accept returns, so im propably screwed :I
I had an old blackberry 8300 curve, i had it in the bathroom while i was showering, got too moist, turned the detection pads red but phone seemed to work fine after i dried it out. But the battery went to crap progressively in the manner. I would charge to 100%, take it off the charger and maybe an hour it would say less than 10%, do a battery pull and it would go back up to maybe 80% and last maybr another hour and keep doing that till it would normally drain on top od the numerous reboots i would be doing until eventually it would just drain and die.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Can dead pixels cause this ? i have like three.. but then again why would it show 50% after restarting from 5%..
the thing is its not draining the battery, just registering it wrong
Any updates on this? Any resolution?

sorry mate i have tried everything unsuccessfully and returned the phone to the seller.. dont tell me you bought it ? (london)
No, but i have a samsung galaxy tab and experience similar symtoms. It does not bother me too much, the battery life is still great. Just the percentage is off and i need to restart from time to time.
I read similar complaint from droid x forum too.
Hi!
I have been experiencing strange battery issue for some time now. First, I have to point out that I am using the Nexus HD2 ICS ROM with an early May update. So, the problem is that sometimes the battery drain on standby and when using the phone is huge - 70% for 4 hours on standby, with Wi-Fi and 3G turned off. I guessed it was a faulty battery (there was problem during charging as well - if the battery died completely, when inserting the charger, the phone would constantly reboot before reaching the splash screen), so I decided to buy a second battery to replace the old one. There isn't a charging problem anymore, but the battery drain issue sometimes occurs, which makes my phone awfully unreliable. My question is - is that a problem coming from the ROM, or is it a hardware problem (and in such case - how can I fix it?)? Thank you in advance!
P.S. I am using original HTC batteries and chargers, so it's not form faulty production line

Might be the ROM because recently I've been getting extremely inconsistent and unpredictable battery drain on the same ROM. Sometimes its great and I can last a full day with ease, but at other times it barely lasts me a few hours. I think I need to calibrate my battery though (it seems to run out faster at lower percentages) but that's clearly not your issue.
am having the same problem it suck any fix or ill have to flash whit an other rom using miui ics
The reboot problem is caused by Android's bootloader: it can't charge when the phone is off, so it tries to turn itself on.
I'm experiencing some occasional (every day) boot loops that almost always require a hard reset to get out of. Usually, after a hard reset, my phone will work fine for some period of time. Probably related, I'm experiencing much faster than normal battery drain. I'm used to a full day's worth of battery with this phone, but am experiencing barely enough to last my through a work shift (7am to 4pm). Also, weird spikes of battery loss after a boot loop + hard reset.
I am not sure what is causing this issue. Sometimes, setting my phone down on a table will begin the boot loops, leading me to believe that the battery could be loose or faulty.
As you can see, there is a gap when the phone is boot looping and then a huge loss of battery life. My phone is a T-Mobile USA model that is CF-rooted. I don't know a lot about root, but I'll answer any questions that may come up.
What could be causing this? Any ideas on how to fix it?
Update: My phone battery drains every faster now and cannot even boot to homescreen at all. I am having major problems and cannot use my phone for any function.
Any help at all would be appreciated. I don't want to just take a loss on this device.
I don't know for how long you've been using the phone, but maybe the main problem is from the battery, have you tried using another battery?
and do you get the boot loop problem when your phone is connected to the charger?
I've been having this strange problem these last few weeks. It happens in different ways.
1. Bellow 25% phone randomly shuts off then when i reboot its 0% battery.
2. Bellow 25% at random % I lose phone signal then the phone starts to lag and capacitive keys don't work then the phone shuts off and when i power it on its at 0%.
3. Phone gets to 15% i plug it in to charge, it doesn't charge but discharges to 0% then shuts off and after that it charges.
If i remove the battery then put it back in after it says 0% it may show 30%/20/15/13/25/30 etc. Sometime it doesn't charge after 87% or 92%. Is it the battery or is something else at fault? Also i can't get more then 2h15m screen time whatever i do and wifi drain is 30% in gsam.
Earlier I had same problemes on my Note 1 and it was because of my battery. Probably your problemes are becuse of your battery too.
Ok I will try a new battery.
I have exactly the same problem!!!!
Like exactly.
However I'd like to add some things:
1. Sometimes the radio signal for mobile starts randomly cutting in and out. It will be full bars, LTE, then nothing, no signal symbol. Then Full bars again, then no signal. In 1 minute revolutions. I am not physically moving during this time.
2. Even at near full battery the phone will get super laggy, stutter, and then finally crash. Once it reboots the battery will be 40% or something. Not super low but lower.
3. The camera seems to have a huge effect as well. I will open the camera, take a picture, and the picture won't save...it will just start to freeze the phone up until I have to pull the battery or it reboots on its own.
I also have a new battery coming in the mail.
However I should note that I am Note 4 910-H using a 910-C variant Custom ROM.
I was worried it was the special Modem I flashed to make the C variant ROM work on my H variant phone that was causing the problem.
Great, but unfortunate to see someone else having this issue too.
Ill post results of the new battery here.
Btw, ive been able to resurrect it from a very low state of charge (3% etc). The only way to do this is to use my fast charger. The fast charger is the only thing that will save it. Even then it takes ages to charge and gets white hot while it does. Its like the fast charger is battling for charge against some unknown force.
Post if you remember when you get your new battery. Hope that fixes it for you.
hi
my note 4 910c become very hot when i use the internet , can i change the modem from lower android like 4.2 to android 6 ? is it work ?
I have exactly the same problem and please if any1 finds any solution just share it here... I tried almost everything but not a new battery.
Battery Calibration By All The Ways, Battery Quick Start via *#0228#, Many Custom ROMs, Many Custom Kernels and Many Stock ROMs and the problem still the same even after I cleanly installed stock 6.0.1 ... Any help please.
Thanks in advance.
New Battery fixed 99% of my problems.
However the phone still randomly freezes and disconnects from cell service.
I think its the modem driver. Freezing might also be due to sd card.
