yeah, just for future reference, don't do anything Sprint suggests that's more serious than turning your phone on & off and/or maybe pulling the battery. most of their staff know far less about the devices they support than anyone here.
yea well it was bassicly all the same stuff i normaly do to fix my phone anyways just he sent a update to my phone and it didnt take and it was all hell from there shortly after that happend he transfered me to someone else i thought it was funny beacuse i was just gonna go to my computer reflash my phone to the way i had it

yeah i toook it into the sprint store and walked out with a new one
Now I'm pretty sure this phone is fried. I'm nearly possitive. Here goes
Updated the radio, went to that neat little screen that says " writing radio" then it shows the arrow to the "rom" image. Well.... its stuck there. after about 30 mins, I thought it was safe to say "remove the battery you f_ed up"
Well rebooted the phone and home + power and cam + power does squat. All the phone shows is that rom image.
Is it safe to call t-mo and ask for a new phone? Could I call it a warrenty issue? Do i Just play dumb and home for the best?

Yeah just go to a tmo store. Say that the phone said there was an update available and you chose to install it, left it alone, went back later and it was stuck on the tmo screen or something. Don't use anywords like "brick" just so they don't get suspicious
Neva eva EVA, pull the battery young one. If you were a doctor trying a new med on a patient on life support and it took a little bit to respond, would you pull the plug. Nope because that patient has family. Well now look at what you did, you got the g1's mamma crying, and his poppi wanting to kill you, and you left the little baby g1s without a father, what is wrong with you. You better watch your back because his brother is a hero and it's not too hard for a hero wanting revenge to become a villian
you MONSTER!!!!!!!
Omg, i laughing my ass off here XD

lol....................
Me too.
Couldnt get alt x during the home and backspace mode and so I thought a reboot would work..
Went to the tmo store and played stupid and they gave me a new g1.
Pay ATTENTION, if you dont know what something is keep researching it. and never reboot until you are sure.
Good advice, yes, pay attention. now you just have to worry bout the brother hero and poppi, man, your g1 just a illegatimate baby mytouch too, shame on you
Well, T-mo said no on the exchange. Found one with a busted digitizer and swapped some parts and...poof. working g1. New rule of thumb. RTFM...twice. As my late father said, measure twice, cut once. So... back to the drawing board.
Why did they deny the warranty exchnage?
Must not have a mouth piece. I was able to change mine out in the store. I just wouldn't take no for an answer.
What is the best way to convince t-mobile to replace a bricked g1?

Just tell them you got the OTA update and when you updated it and came back to the phone it was messed up (don't say bricked). Play dumb and just act pissed off that T-Mobile did this to you. Just don't take no for an answer. I dropped my phone and it wouldn't turn on. I went to one store and said I dropped it and they wouldn't replace it in the store that I would have to go thru asus (insurance) cause it was physical damage. I then went to another store and told them the excuse I just told you and they exchanged it in store, so no mailing and waiting time. Had a new phone an hour after I dropped my old one.
hello,
I'm sorry put i don't now where i cand write my problem.
I have a G1 and before the insalltion of the spl-signed.zip my g1 freeze on the logo orange. I don't know what can i do. And when i want to put the backup nandroid, it doesn't work at the line: " mount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /tmp/system" failed: invalid argument.
My G1 is bricked or not ? What can i do ?
Sorry for my english and thanks a lot.

Quit trying to argue with your phone, and maybe it might work.

Do you have to be a T-Mobile customer?
I have a T-Mobile tester sim card so I'm not paying anything. Will it still work?
dint want to turn on... i though it was the battery that had bad contact with the phone for some reason.. my dad tried to move it up and down to c if that would fix it and it actually did...
do i go to sprint to tell them? i did not remove the battery again and i just moved my phone alot to make sure it was in place and it was not gonna disconnect during the day
but still should i?
what would happen?
i dont want a diamond.. at least not diamond1
would i get a free fix i have the protection plan 7$
thanks
Yeah you'll most likely get the same phone. This since it does not seem to be an issue from damage should be free unless your phone is totally beat up . Hope this helps
Take it in to Sprint. They will give you a new phone. Most likely it will be the same. They have Vogues stock-piled from the sounds of it. If they do give you the Crapmond, you have the option to keep your old phone. I have the same insurance as you and have had to replace my Touch twice.
thanks alot for the answers ...my dad used his techines and fixed it lol just moved the battery..aparently it has bad contact with the phone....if it happens again ill go to sprint
holy cow!! I think I just bricked my phone... I hope someone can help me.
Here's the situation. I was on the latest MIUI 1.6.17 demonSPEED v.1.2. Everything was awesome! Then today I went to my dentist and there was a sign that said that they are not in today and to call a number. I was about to call, then everything got stuck. I needed to call them, so I just did a flash in front of the dentist's office with the ROM I had on my SD card.
re-flashed v1.2 with no problem and I was about to select "reboot my phone", then I was like, oh i'll re-flash Swype as well... the swype zip got stuck for like 5 minutes during the flash (and I still needed to call the dentist). So I was like, ok I'll just pull off the battery and restart the flashing procedures...
That's when I put the battery back and the phone won't even boot up now. I'm now home (didn't even get to call my dentist yet after all that), and plugged in the charger and it won't even charge now (orange LED not turning on)... Can't even boot it in recovery. Phone is unresponsive to any buttons...
Does anyone know of any other way to even turn the phone on?
Geez, that was the Noobiest mistake ever!! All that because I had to make a call... WOw, I'm speechless thinking of my stupidity! I hope someone can help...
Thanks in advance guys!
Quite honestly dude i dont think you have much to hope for except to call tmo and tell them its broken. If its truly bricked even they cant confirm it since they cant turn it on. Only thing i think you could try is pluging it into your pc and trying to see if the pc recognizes it and lets you run adb commands or something similar. Hope this helps.

I doubt you'll have problems. Everyone I've ever heard of sending in the truly bricked phone has gotten it replaced for free but that's my experience. Most don't have a second thought about it because they know there's nothing t mo can do.

yup, the thing is that I'm not a T-Mobile customer anymore. I wonder how I'm even gonna get in contact with them to get a replacement. I remember from being their customer, that the first thing they ask you is your phone number with them. If you didn't have one, they just said they can't help you... Does that sound about right?

Send it back to HTC. It sounds like you got hardware issues not software. I don't think you even bricked your device.

yeah man, that was the analysis of the customer service rep that was helping me. He thinks that the battery somehow is knocked out... That's why he's shipped out a battery. Just waiting for that to confirm that it's the battery or something else! If that doesn't solve it, I'll have to send it back to HTC for repairs. Probably won't be able to get a replacement with T-Mobile since I cancelled my account with them like 4 months ago already... but thanks for the input!
keep us posted eh.

took quite some time, but i should be receiving my repaired phone back next tuesday... HTC said that somehow the main board was the problem, so they replaced it... hopefully for a better one! haha
Ive had the above for about a month never have i been satisfied with the volume (being hard of hearing doesnt help)to the point where id all ready booked a repair date for next week
The phones unlocked and rooted (bit obvious else i wouldn't be on this forum would i )and in truth ive been playin with a lot of patches and apps out there to improve the volume
Now yesterday after tryin beats xlouder and a couple of sound boost apps. i followed a link to bryce09 kernel which i flashed only to find it killed the phone and i mean KILLED
Ive tried the Nexus repair toolkit/Wgfresh on a VM running W7 and nothing!!
Now im on an iMac and ive run Galaxy Nexus GSM unroot/stock and it goes through all the processes and at the end says press start
But theres nothing on the screen at all all tho and the power button does nothing
Now if i strip down the phone and disconnect the battery am i right in thinking it will reset it
or as ive all ready got a repair booked is it worth it
Oh hell no. You will void your warranty. Just send it back and get it fixed.

the only way i can get any response is plug the USB in hold the power button for a long while then i get a red LED near the USB in
Update
So after speaking with LG about my repair they advised me to get in touch with Google (my god i was looking foreward to that)any way all went well didn't seem to get through to the ignorant irish
Finished up with my RMA and nearly £300 lighter in my pocket which i hoping wont ultimately go through
Gets the replacement Nexus ....now the TNT guy that delivered it i knew as i worked form them for many years he told me that he picks up loads of theses LGs for replacement they ship out to Poland of Korea ....must be by the lorry load
Just wish id knew this before i got rid of my old Sammsung Galaxy Nexus
So any ways its on eBay lol not even going to undo it
with out a doubt worst phone ive had
Please tell me you did not tell them what you did to the phone, because that would have been silly, and partially my fault because I forgot to warn you. If your phone was indeed dead, it would have been difficult for them to tell.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Did anyone actually send an unlocked/rooted phone back and got a warranty void e-mail/call? Everyone seems so concerned, yet i know users who sent theirs without returning to stock and it was no problem at all...

Silly repair booking person, to assume you've given the a different contact number, considering your phone may be broken, they'd never assume you'd give them that number
vivid experiance
I purchased Nexus 4, on the 4th day it's failed to boot i don't root or damage anything
only stuck in boot process and nothing i searched xda
i got how to flash the firm from xda developers i did what they tell
but i flashed successfully
i turn on mobile the same boot failure again came it's not woking
what i do ? tell me i sent to mobile dealer they replace me and give me a new box
