[Q] touch screen doesnt work - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

for the last day or so my touch screen hasnt been working properly.....right when i wake it up it just doesnt respond at all...it was only once in a while and i only had to turn the screen off and then on but now it just doesnt work at all i have to pull the battery out to work right from the beginning and when the screen turns off i turn on the screen and try to unlock it and the touch screen just doesnt work...does anybody know whats wrong and what i can do to fix it or am i screwed...thank you if you can help

What rom are you using, i dont think its a hardware problem. Try cleaning up cache, dalvik etc. And reinstall the rom or flash other rom.
I had that problem before and it was a laggy type bug in a rom. Just upgraded it to another rom.

This is a very common problem with android. I've never had the problem when I'm running windows mobile, just android. Move on the next android build. It's referred to as "screen of death" aka SOD. If for some reason your phone is still doing this when on windows mobile try downloading the rom again and reflashing. I always get the SOD when running android. I'll wait until they're a little more stable before going back to android.
Im' running factory rom with just a couple mods and this happens to me.
I've had this happen to me and have a solution that works 75% of the time: of the backlight is on but screen black, go ahead and swipe as if to unlock. Many times the touch screen will register the gesture and bring you out of sleep. Hopefully this helps.

I have been plagued with this for 5 days.
The solution.... (And I cannot find the thread to thank the OP).....
Instead of using the red button to bring device out of sleep; try a different button. (I am using the back button). I have not had an SOD for ~5 hours.....
Before it was CONSTANT.
I think it is something to do with the power/red button sending the wrong command (sleep instead of wake).
Try it and see if it works.... I know it sounds silly.......

[Q] I need help with my android foya based htc hd2

im pretty new in this i uploaded the android, and energy rom, in the phone. after 10 mins of non use the screen goes blank and will not come back on unless you remove the battery. when the screen goes blank you can press the command buttons at the bottom and the backlight comes on but no visual image on the screen. has anyone encountered this issue and if so is there a fix for this. please help im willing to donate to fix for the issue.
I have a HD2 with froyo on it as well. The darkstone build. It has this issue some times, but it doesnt completely crash. If I turn the screen off, wait 5 seconds and turn the screen on, it comes up.
It actually does it quite regularly.
Did you turn off automatic backlights on WM settings before booting android, also make sure the keypad lights are on when u run haret.... that will probably solve the problem .

[Q] Screen problems when waking up

I have a problem with my screen:
when i press the power button to wake the screen, it lights up and then blacks down again, it doesn't matter how i press the button (how long i press and so on).
it happens sometimes, sometimes not, but happens more frequent than NOT happening so it's quite enervating.. usually i have to try to light up the screen 2 or 3 times before it works..
This problem i had before i flashed to a new rom too, but i didn't do a wipe when flashing so can this be a problem from software or does it seem to be hardware?

Screen wake issues or the screen on/off animations are known issues. If your flashing a different rom its always recommended you do a full wipe. That in itself could solve your problem. Also posting the rom your using and the settings (if you have it over clocked) would be very helpfull when posting a problem your having. If you disable the screen animations it will work fine. If you like the animations and have your phone overclocked you may want to try adjusting that also. There are several post on screen wake issues that could possibly help you in this forum.

go for a wipe and fresh reinstall of the rom always works for me when i have problems
You can also try turning off automatic Brightness . it worked for me
I have tried all of your tips except for a clean install, nothing of it worked.
i try to avoid a clean install since i am really satisfied with my homescreen layout and all my apps i have now

A wipe is recommened for a reason. It avoids threads like this being put up. You can't complain about something not working correctly if you haven't even followed the install instructions.

I use 5 minutes to set up my phone minutes after a clean installation. use titanium and bookmarkSB to backup your stuff.

[Q] lockscreen problem - 2.3.1

I have developed a small lockscreen problem. I can't get the lock screen to come up anymore. When i go into standby through time out of pressing power the screen just goes black and doesn't kick into the lockscreen anymore.
I'm sure its a software error and a re-image would fix it but i'd like to fix this without having to do this.
I'm using mdj gingerbread cyanogenmod 7 v2.3 NAND. The rom itself works perfectly and i've had no problems until now.
I have noticed that the fade out screen that is on this rom doesn't happen any longer. When i press power the screen just goes black. then i press it again no matter the wait the screen just comes straight back on where i left it
Checked through cyanogenmod settings and the lockscreen is set to instant after standby and time out but still nothing.
help i've been calling and e-mailing the world from my pocket!
I don't know what your problem is but I am willing to bet that the issue has been caused by an app that you have downloaded and is now conflicting with the lockscreen. Have you downloaded and lockscreen replacements (eg Widget Locker), or maybe a screen off app (eg Screen Off)?
Either way, perform a restore and you'll be fine.
You did backup your system didn't you?!
Its not from a lock screen app but from a general app just not sure which one. Removed my last few installed apps but its no different. Everything is backed up I'd just rather try and fix the problem and wait to reimage when 2.3 with sense comes out. There has to be a way

I have the same problem. it happend the first time yesterday on Typhoon CM7 2.2 build. so I figured that it must have been an error in that build, so I updated to Typhoon CM7 2.3.3 today, and it was fine until for 10 minutes ago, but now it's back, I tried calling my phone from another phone, but nothing came up other than the backlight, there's still sound and vibration, but no display picture. :S
Lol Ive fixed this now there is an option in battery indicator pro that disables the lock screen. I accidently disabled the lock screen

Freezing on Lock Screen

I just bought a used HD2 1024 in perfect condition which already had android installed.
As told by previous owner, and also experienced by me, I am having freezing issues at the lock screen when waking up the phone from the sleep state. When phone turns on, I try to slide the bar down to unlock and go to the home screen, but it seems frozen and doesn't respond to touch. I have turn off the display and try again numerous times to make it work, or reboot it to make it work. This doesn't happen all the time, but does happen regularly.
In the CW menu, I tried doing factory reset, wiping cache, wiping dilvik cache, and tried installing multiple ROMs, but still no luck.

not necessarily is that the issue, dependant on the rom being used it could just be the wakeup delay that was an issue in early rom builds
The freezing or touch problem only occurs during wake/lock screen. It works perfect fine during regular use. Is it still a hardware problem that could be causing this?

might be worth trying a different rom and seeing if it is still there
Hope that is just a temporary thing, otherwise you may have to pay HTC to fix it.
I had the same issue before. But after i change to "MccMBoxmaX GS V6.5 Gingerbread 2.3.3 [Sense 2.1+3.0] 3D Effect", this problem almost didn't happen at all. Maybe you can give it a try..
