[Q] MT4G + CM, block unsolicited inbound calls - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

On the MT4g running CyanogenMod 7.0.3 is there a way to handle unsolicited incoming calls from spammers, robo dialers ... ?
Is there some kind of app that will either block the call based on the caller id or send it to voicemail directly or something like that?

In there newest nightly build they have a blacklist feature. Don't know bout the old stable build. There are a ton of apps that do the same thing as well.

App to unblock blocked numbers?

I've been getting a lot of calls lately from blocked numbers of people messing around. I know there are services out there, but is much rather pay for an app. Does anyone know of a good one on the market?

AFAIK, there isn't an app to do this. I was under the impression that when a private call comes in only the switch knows it's origin.
Is there an app to send block calls and even unknown numbers (people not on your contacts list) directly to voice mail?

I think Call Blocker or call blocker lite has the option to pickup then hang up instantly or send to voicemail. Check it out
Call me paranoid but I'm a bit distrustful of any app asking for call phone and full internet permission. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Lol i completely forgot If you're running DarchDroid i know you can goto Settings > Call Settings > scroll to the bottom > Blacklist
Edit: but its only for numbers you enter yourself tho, forgot about that aspect of what you were looking for :L

If you have a rom that supports blacklist(this would be built into the rom, you can check by goin into your contact list and long pressing a contact and see if "add to blacklist" is an option). If it is add the number that is calling u and add it to blacklist, when they call they will be automatically sent to voicemail. Handy feature not many know about.

gblocker can block unknown numbers.. at least the app's description says it does

[REQ] block outgoing calls/texts

someone should develop an app that not only restrict outgoing calls to a specific number, but also restrict outgoing texts also.
this would be a good intervention tool for ppl who cant stop calling or texting someone who doesnt want that attention
leme know if and when there is such an app that includes both feature
It's not possible to intercept outgoing sms on stock roms.
Cyanogenmod 7 has phone goggles which does what you are asking. I do not know any app that can realise this.

Is this still true currently? I'm looking for a way to block outgoing text messages, since I get charged for these. I'm rooted, and on Android 4.1.2. Thank you.

If you're using Google Voice..

You will have noticed that there are a couple of glaring issues. Voicemail notifications don't make it out of the app to anywhere in the phone (like the notifications bar). In the call log, outgoing calls get recorded as the Google bridge number instead of the number you dialed.
Please call Samsung. Inevitably the first layer of support won't be able to do anything so ask for 'Advanced technical support'. They obviously won't be able to offer a solution either, so ask them to submit a feedback ticket. If they receive enough of these, they will look into it with Google.
Happened to me the first couple days I had my phone. Did a reset and it cleared up the notification issue with Google Voice for me though. I've heard of others who got theirs on launch day have the same issue i'm guessing something to do with the activation servers being slammed.
What did you reset?

Just did a factory reset in settings.
I had a problem installing Google Voice at first too. An error pops up when it gets to the part where you configure your phone's voicemail setting. I just backed out of the app and restarted my phone. It's working fine now after the restart.
I got the voicemail notifications working by going back to 0.4.2.34.
Do outgoing calls show up incorrectly for both of you in the call log?
Google Voice is very very well integrated in stock ICS from what I've seen and confirmed to be working in CM9 already. As a new Android user without having used stock ICS I think I prefer some things in TW better so I wanted to get this working. Hopefully stock ICS and CM9 will be as good as users here rave about since that'll solve all the GV issues completely.

It's always been like that, you must be new!

it's not like that on my HTC One XL; the contact/number i called shows up in the call log and i can redial from the call log. with my SGS 3, the bridge number appears in the call log and is unassociated with the contact/number dialed. for me, that's not good because i use my GV number as a biz contact number. and what's the deal with the email client... whoops! sorry, that's for another thread!
Wait, I'm lost.
I thought Verizon disables Voice. I can't make it work for voicemail. Same with my last 3 Verizon phones .
Google voice working well here too

I also have the bridge number in call log issue and this did NOT happen on the Galaxy S II.
An hoping that it's a Google voice bug rather than a bug in the T-Mobile version of ICS.

Can someone post the working apk?

I've been having the annoying issue of it not registering properly during voicemail setup. Always worked just fine on my GSII.

Works fine on my Sprint version. Only problem I'm having is voicemail won't integrate with the call log like it did on CM9.

[Q] MIUI and Google Voice

I tried using MIUI. I have reverted back to CM now! The problem is integration with Google Voice. When I place a call, the pseudo GV number is only displayed. The actual contact name/number is not displayed. The same happens in call log also! So I can't figure out whom I called. Is there any way to address this with 3rd party app or some setting? This is the only reason for me to stay away from MIUI! I love CM11 and the speed.. But MIUI is attractive!!
