B7610 problem solving - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi to all,
I open this topic to list and try to solve the problem that may occur during the utilisation of this device
I post the problem that i've found and the solution to solve them.
Of course if somebody have some problem or knows some solution please post it here
PROBLEM
I can't connect to any wifi network
SOLUTION
Search for SKTools and download it
Install it on you're device.
After some "first time" settings search the TCP/IP board (two times right)
In this board search "Wlan Support 802.11G" and select yes (by default it could be "NO")
Select "Done" and close SKTools
Reboot your device.
Now it should works
PROBLEM
My B7610 didn't connect to GPS signal
SOLUTION
1) Search and install GpsGate and Visual GpsCe
2) launch GpsGate
3) Choose "Start GpsGate after SoftReset" and "never ask me again"
4) Tap "Start"
5) In the next screen only choose "wired or Built in Gps"
6) Tap >
7) Wait while the programm search
8) In the screen that pop ups tap yes
9) in the next screen only choose "share with nmea applications"
10) Tap >
11) Confirm with "OK"
12) A screen with "Virtual Com Port 2 created", tap OK
13) The programm will close, restart it
14) A menu will appear, select "settings"
15) Go to the "advanced" board and select "show more options"
16) Select the "input" board
17) next to "com 7" tap "Close"
18) still in the "input" board, you will find "advanced", choose retry connection on timeout","close imput when idle" and "power off close"
19) Where we had put close (near Com7, see step 17) put open
20) In the advanced board select "Start GpsGate after soft reset"
21) Tap "OK" and close the programm
22) Reboot your device
23) The programm could ask to repeat the step 3 (but it's not sure)
24) Launch the program that requires the GPS (like car navigator)
25) choose and select "Bluetooth GPS Receiver" and set "Fransom Com Port 2" as gps port
26) Launch GpsCe and tap"agree"
27) In the board "connect" select "serial port(comm port) and then "Com 7" with "baud 4600"
28) If you want to make the fix faster enable "XTRA Download"
Now it should all works, the first time the fix will be a bit slow, don't panic and from the second time the fix will be very very fast
PROBLEM
I can't modify the sms skin
SOLUTION
First of all check if you have threadened sms sctivated.
To do this go in the registry key HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM and change SMSINboxThreadingDisabled from 1 to 0.
Once done this, with a file Explorer like "total commander" open the Windows folder and search the iframe_style.css file and cut and copy to another location (for example the root of the microSD).
Rename it to iframe_style_white.css and put it again in Windows folder and overwrite it.
Restart your device.
Install the skin that you want
PROBLEM
I can't install android on my device

ActiveSync via Bluetooth link [solution]

I find this solution for running ActiveSync connected thru BT via one click. I tried it on my MDA Compact and it works.
Hope it helps.
http://www.mtekk.com.au/Forums/tabid/56/postid/14926/view/topic/Default.aspx
On the Pocket PC...
1. ActiveSync / Tools / Options... / Options... (yes options twice)
2. "When cradled Enable PC sync using this connection" 'Bluetooth
3. Startup an ActiveSync connection as you normally would...
4. Now setup a shortcut to the program "windows\repllog.exe" into the Start menu. To do this
a. open up Explore in ActiveSync
b. Go into My Pocket PC
c. Go into Windows folder
d. Find repllog.exe and right click and select copy
e. Go into the Start Menu folder (within Windows folder)
f. Right click, paste shortcut - rename to something like ActiveSync Direct
Back on the Pocket PC
5. Gracefully disconnect ActiveSync.
6. Start / Settings / Buttons
7. Choose Button 4
8. Set the button assignment as ActiveSync Direct (or whatever you called it above) and click OK
9. Reset your Pocket PC and wait about 15 seconds for everything to get loaded (esp. Bluetooth which takes a little while).
10. Press the top left side button. Voila! Easy!
If you get the ActiveSync - "Port Not Available" message, it just means that Bluetooth hasn't loaded yet. Tap OK, check that Bluetooth is activated and if so, try again.
Thanks for the post. Ive been having trouble getting this to work however.
1. ActiveSync / Tools / Options... / Options... (yes options twice)
2. "When cradled Enable PC sync using this connection" 'Bluetooth
3. Startup an ActiveSync connection as you normally would...
4. Now setup a shortcut to the program "windows\repllog.exe" into the Start menu. To do this
a. open up Explore in ActiveSync
b. Go into My Pocket PC
c. Go into Windows folder
d. Find repllog.exe and right click and select copy
Click to collapse
Im using WM5, and firstly i dont have the option..option menu and secondly when i try to paste repllog it tells me that the file is copy protected or something like that.
Any ideas???
Help appreciated.....
Try to use Resco File Explorer instead of M$ Explorer. When you 'right click' on Windows/repllog.exe, there is 'Send To...' -> 'Start Menu as Shortcut' option in menu.

Thanx for the detailed set-up instructions Kropotov!
I follwed to the letter but at this time I'm still unable to get it all to work. When i enable the PC dial up connection it activeate the Atom cos the back light come on abd the BT symbol in the PC system tray changes colour. However it does not want to get past this stage and no signs of the GPRS sybol coming on the PPC...........I know my GPRS APN is "NET" with user name being the operator and the password being "WAP" but still nothing working. I just don't know why it should be so hard to establish a link via BT or USB cable. It was easier to do on my old Nokia 6030 about 5 years ago than it is on my Atom!
Regards
Chris.
try to connect to GPRS using USB connection...
Can you go to internet from your Atom?
How do I know which COM port the ActiveSync is using......would it be COM1 by default? When i try to set up a DUN modem the only ports that i can see are all Bluetooth ports that i have created, I do nt get the choice for COM1.
I also found some instructions from O2 on how to set up an Xda II to act as a modem, in these instructions you set up a new standard modem on the PC, disable Activesync on the PC then deactivate "Receive all beams" on the PPC and then activate "Modem Link" on the PPC. Then when you plug in the PDA to the PC via USB cable the computer will detect new hard ware and try to install a drive, I have not been able to locate the required driver o the internet so can not get any further with this method. The driver is on the OEM CD supplied with the device and as I'm away from home i can not check if i have the driver on the CD that came with the Atom. The driver i called "HTC USB Modem".
angusc

Kropotov,
I can't figure out how to download the file from this site, sorry to be such a pain.
http://dl.rapidshare.ru/27257/99530/USBMDM.INF
Thanx again for your continued support and assistance but that link is not working for me at this time, i will try it again later to hopefully get to that file!!
give me your mail. I will send you
kropotov,
Thx for the file, i installed a new modem on my PC and then activated the "modem link" on my PPC and installed the driver when prompted, but alas still not working. I think it is to do with the assigned COM port for the modem on the PC, I can only seem to choosE COM 4, 9, 13, 14, 15 when installing the modem to PC. I would think that the Atom would be com port 1-3 as it is connected to one of my PC USB ports......
Will keep playing and let you know if I manage to get it to work......Thanx for all your help.

wireless modem

Has someone connected a laptop to internet using TyNT?
I cant. I did it with my htc universal using the wireless modem or internet sharing (aku 3.2).
But TynT hasnt "internet sharing utility" and my laptop doesnt recognize it as modem. Some idea?
thanks
Do you have under programs wireless modems? If you launch this and got to usb then start; your laptop/pc will pnp and request instalation of drivers, I think the drivers and software are on the wiki. Also remember to use the correct APN name i.e. for T-mob uk it is general.t-mobile.uk
cool this worked fine for me, i just needed to change the apn settings from "internet" to "general.t-mobile.uk"
Check the Hermes FAQ: there's a section about using TyTN as a laptop modem...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_FAQs
Bye
It worked when i used my Univesal. But now, when a click "start" in wireless modem app and plug it to the laptop nothing happens.....No hardware detected......
im usin orange spv m500. when i connect the phone to my laptop using USB cable, nothin happens. no hardware detected. it doesnt prompt to install any driver.. pls help!! :!:
It works fine for me with a BlueTooth connection. I don't think anybody has it working over USB.
It works fine using a Dial-up Connection from Windows.... you don't need to activate the Wireless Modem on the TyTN... in fact doing so will prevent it from working...
Hi.Yes, it works setting a dial-up connection with bluetooth but i want to use the wireless modem usb because the dial-up system closes the connection if you receive a phone call.......
I miss the utility "internet sharing" from Universal Aku 3.2. I hope it is present in next TyNT rom....
i have found the solution
go to start > programs > wireless modem
select connection type USB
tap Start
then connect ur mobile device to ur laptop or pc. it will detect new hardware n will prompt to install driver. u can download the driver and utility from here
Code:
http://dl1.uploadgalaxy.com/files/e52d58daacf8/USB_Modem.zip.html
when I plug the tynt in my pc or my laptop (with the wireless app running on usb) nothing happens....
mine is a spv m500. OS is windows mobile 2003. it detects new hardware only when u plug in after pressing the start button
Yes. I have Imate pocket pc and Imate jasjar and it works in than way. But it doesnt work with TyNT (for me)

EDIT .. I have used HR ... created new connection .. tested it (it worked) and used back-up .. now it doesn't work again and keep teeling me about some access error 680
I am going for finall HR I am affraid ...
a BT modem connection will at best have less than half the speed of a wired USB one... (see my previous benchmark thread).

Hi, read/found it somewhere in the wiki, and it works as you described.
Only thing is always start the modem first before connecting to the PC. Works everytime for me:
Connected speed: 230.4 kpbs (good enough for me as I'm on EDGE connection)

spv m2000 help

Hello, I have a spv m2000.
I try to instal windows mobile 6.1 on spv m2000, but i can't connect BA to pc in Bootloader mode with windows vista. I try all metods that are describle in ( http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel_WM6_WizzardUpgrade4_Vista ), but i haven't success.
But now, when i turn on device, i see that i loose many programs (PVPlayer, Album, WESTTEK Native Office Viewers and Orange configurations).
how can I return to these programs?
sorry my bad english, but english isn't my motherlanguage.
regards
Well
I dont have vista but in bootloader you dont need to sync it you just need the drivers... maybe your WMDC is not updated... check it out...
I have WMDC version 6.1.6965 and I install drivers for my vista 32bits
can you xplain it?
So... can you xplain where did you get stucked?
maybe the error that the RUU shows you?
or what else... has happening to your device please?
Edit: Xplain all detail please... to see if anybody can help here...
or you just need a XP pc... is suggested to everybody here.
whell, i follow step by step the tutorial.
1. I install xda-developers_Unlocker.CAB
2. Then go to start -> Programs -> ExtROM tools -> then first run "unhide", then "Unlock".
3. Do a soft reset.
4. Once your BA is restarted, locate the Repart_DOC.exe file with your filemanager and start it.
5. Set the size of Extended ROM to 128 kb (which is already the default).
7. I press "format now!"
8. Soft reset your BA.
after I download vista 32 bits (driver)
9. Extract the contents to a folder on your desktop, to "AS_DRIVERS" folder.
10. I put your device into Bootloader mode by pressing and hold the "Power" & "Record" buttons, and then press the Reset Button.
11. Connect the phone to the sync cable/cradle USB;
12. Now navigate into the WMDC (Start -> All Programs -> Windows Mobile Device Center)
* Click on the "connection settings" menu icon
* In the connection settings menu uncheck "allow USB connections" then press OK.
* Now exit the WMDC and return to the desktop
13. Go into the start menu and type "Services", this will take you into the local services dialogue and show a list of all services either running or registered with your pc.
* Scroll down the list and make sure these services are present:
* Windows Mobile-based connectivity
* Windows Mobile 2003-based connectivity
* If these services are not started then double click each one and set them to Automatic start by clicking the "startup-type" drop-down menu and selecting automatic then click the start button in the same window, apply the setting by pressing OK.
* Return back to the desktop again
14. Go into the start menu and type "Device Manager" then run, this will take you into the device manager.
* Click the "+" symbol next to "Mobile Devices" and double click on "HTC USB Sync".
* This will bring up the properties of the currently connected device.
* Go to the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver".
* Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software".
* Select "Let me pick from a list...."
* Click the "Have Disk" button.
* Click "Browse" and navigate to the AS_DRIVERS folder we created earlier.
*
Now select your file
o Vista 32bit users select the file "wceusbsh.inf"
o Vista 64bit users select the file "wceusbshx64.inf"
* Then click Open.
* Click next and the driver will be installed (wait a moment).
* Press close and escape back to the desktop now.
---» In this step that i have problems
9. Now we must stop the WMDC process
* Start the task manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Escape.
* Click the WMDC line and click "End Process". In the confirmation window, again press End Process.
* Now re-enter the WMDC and re-enable USB connections (click connection settings and check the box "enable USB connections").
my BA doesn't appears in WMDC, i don't have any conection with BA in bootloader mode
I thinks that problem is in extRom.
The BA cannot instalt the extRom program

/sdcard/btsnoop_hci.log not found

@anybody: please activate "Bluetooth HCI-Snoop-Protocol" in developer options and tell me if you have the file /sdcard/btsnoop_hci.log on your phone.
If yes => please tell me which rom you are using.
i am on xXx 9.6
the file is not existing. I tried to edit the /etc/bluetooth/bt_stack.conf manually. still no success. I need to debug the bluetooth data between my smartwatch (zeTime) and my phone.
It will be saved in /sdcard/oem_log/ once you enable logging in oemlogkit.
Dialer -> input *#800#->get wireless log->get bluetooth log.
Got the log. Can you recommend a tool to read it? Something Like wireshark for Android?
I am new to this. I am a java Developer, but new to Bluetooth Debugging
You can analyze it with wireshark, there's also a HCI debugger app in the play store.
Is anybody else having problems with the btsnoop file not being generated?
I've had Bluetooth problems ever since updating to OxygenOS 5.1.1 (https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/constant-bluetooth-problems-after-updating-to-5-1-1.831111/), and I'm still having the same problem after doing clean flash to 5.1.3.
OnePlus contact me about this and gave me the instructions to generate the log files to email to them, I followed those instructions and it generated different log files in the oem_log directory, except for the btsnoop file itself, and they were at a loss as well as to why the btsnoop file wasn't being generated.
Here's the instructions they gave me, I followed it to a "T" and tried different variations hoping one of them would work, but no luck.
