[Q] supported formats by mango upgrade? - Omnia 7 General

I'm now using the nodo as a tablet and see i can't download avi files and exe.
What about mango?

No, you can't run Windows executables on your phone and you will not be able to, ever. I recommend you to convert your AVIs.

Newbie questions on Running Linux

hi,
i'm very interested in this project. may i ask a few basic questions as i can't find the faq section.
1. the linux will be booted from the SD/MMC card and won't replace the windows mobile 2005, right? that means it's possible to have dual boot?
2. can i install the linux applications on the device? if yes, installed to the SD/MMC card?
3. do i need to use some special installation packages, e.g. ipk at the zaurus? or just can install any desktop application on it?
thanks a lot!
I'd love to know as well...
It'd be good to see other alternatives OSes and software on the Universal as well as seeing how they perform on the same hardware. Playing smooth VGA DivX is a high priority need for me, and right now, WM5 with TCPMP doesn't offer the smoothness I need.

It can be a hardware limitation
and was discussed here many times.
The LCD on universal is great, but the video
subsystem is not good compared to Blueangel
or, better, ipaq hx470x.

Yes. Currently there is no linux driver for the M-Systems DoC G3, where the bootloader and wince are located.
You will have hard time destroying them by your actions

Yes. You can consider the MMC/SD card as if it was a hard disk on
your desktop computer.

Yes. The Linux installation image is compiled with OpenEmbedded, and is the Openzaurus in some
sense.

You can install any "desktop" applications
from Debian for ARM CPU, if you will also install all
the dependencies. *.ipk is the debian package format.

make your WINCE CAB MANAGER work in WIN 7!

since win 7 was published, WINCE CAB MANAGER seems to give up on updating itself to be compatable in win 7. After the installation, no matter how you run it, whether under comapatable mode of winxp sp2 or not, it never works properly.
today, i found how to make it work!
it's really simply, though.
right click the install file, then run it under the compatable mode of winxp sp2, and then, it's done!
remember you have to run the compatable when installing. then you can double click on the program to run as you do to other programs in win 7.

I'm using the latest version and i haven't had a problem with installing it or running but i do have UAC turned off because it irritates the crap out of me. All i did was just plain run the installer.
Their have been a couple of programs that i have had to install in compatibility mode but they were games and i haven't had to do it for about a year

Is the Jailbreak for the HD2 thethered?

I installed WM7 succesfully on my HD2. Did the chevron jailbreak to unlock the phone. Can sideload xap now.
But everytime I connect my phone to my pc and open Zune, the HD2 is again locked and must unlock it again. Is this normal? I never read here that the Chevron jailbreak is tethered. What is the solution?
Yes, it's totally normal for this to happen.
Here's a possible solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913748
I've the same experience like you, am only layman here, but I pretty much confirm this is normal.
I tried, but can not copy in the Windows folder. Is protected I think.
It's not protected, it just takes a long time to open the Windows directory on the phone.

There is no way you can upgrade your WinMo to WP7, due to different requirements, firmwares, processor, etc. Android OS is actually not so difficult to install as what you think. What you need is patience and reliable tutorial to follow. There are few different versions of Android available by different users:
1. Original default beta installation, install on SD card, transfer the files in and run haret.exe twice.
2. ISO file installation, install on My Storage, transfer the files in and run haret.exe once.
3. Manual installation, can be installed on either My Storage or SD Card, required Ubuntu to transfer the files, and run through haret.exe once.
4. Froyo Bundles, fixes most problems and most stable, can be installed on either My Storage or SD Card, transfer the files in and run.
Thanks. Will surely try again!
Cheers!
Go android. Windows is going the way of webos

You joking mate, right?
As you surely know rolleyes with WP7 you must use Zune to transfer you files (music, pics and videos) onto your device coz this OS is extremely different from WM 6.5 or Android
The zune software rocks! and sexy and silky!
download the latest zune from the market associate folders to zune after install... then plugin phone and transfer wateva u want from inside zune..hops this was some help
no need to download any from market to transfer files to phone... only Zune is enough
you must download zune from internet to pc and install

android depends, if you have android on nand then u can directly plugin USB and use it like a pen drive. But if you are running android from the sd card you need to download an app called multimount sd. Actually the app works in both modes so it's hassle free no need to enable USB every time. Hope this answers ur question
Thanks man.
Is this the only way? There's a lite version of the app would this do?
