[Q] Trophy WIFI chipset - Trophy General

Does the Trophy have Broadcom 4329?
Hopefully this allows some side apps for tethering!!

Yes it supports DLNA and tethering

Other Android Devices WONT Pick Up Wifi emitted from wifi tether

so i have wifi tether enabled on my nexus one and my ipod touch can pick it up perfectly fine but for some reason my droid doesnt.is there a solution to this? any specific channel i have to use?
I know this is going to sound strange, but I believe this is the issue-- Android phones have the ability to *create* an ad-hoc connection with wifi-tether, but they can't *connect* to another ad-hoc network. An iTouch used to not be able to do this in earlier versions of its OS (IIRC), but now it's able to as of around 2.0+
Two nights ago I turned on WiFi tether on my G1, and my friend's Droid was able to connect to it just fine. Weird.

hmm i just tested my unrooted AT&T N1 and it will NOT see my wifi-tether Droid.
the laptop sees the droid with no issues.
if i manually add the droid's network SSID, the Nexus One just reports "Not in range"
BobDude5 - is your Droid rooted?
Odinist - is your friends droid rooted?

Yes both my nexus one and Droid are rooted ...and its the Droid that won't pick up the nexus ones signal
This is because the tether creates an ADHOC network. Your phone only knows how to find/connect to infrastructure type networks.
Search the forums if you need to enable connect-to-adhoc. I'm not 100% sure its possible.
I have the N1 as well and cannot get my "other" android phone to connect. BUT! My friends rooted N1 found it fine no issues. My laptop, some dude in the coffee shop have also found it.

I don't remember which WiFi chipset is in the DROID but if it's a TI (Texas Instruments) WiFi Chipset, Google for tiwlan.ini.
There's an "unofficial" fix I think in the recent modded ROM's for N1 which enables the ability to join an AdHoc WiFi SSID though which uses the Broadcom chipset. "Rooting" is a misnomer in a sense.
Cheers,
Kermee

So then you will need a rooted phone to connect I would imagine?

Yeah. You'd have to root your "other" Android phone first to change the tiwlan.ini file to enable connecting to AdHoc SSID's if it's a TI WiFi chipset.

How can be possible that my n1 can share 3g connection with iPhones, laptops and other devices but can't tether to my HTC hero? I have both devices rooted... Is there any solutions?
Thanks for your help!
Difference
The Wi-Fi Tether for Root Users app creates an ad-hoc Wi-Fi network while the built-in wireless tethering creates an infrastructure network that other Android devices can connect to.
Oh and btw, the current OS version for the iTouch is 4.1

Working Wireless N / Fm radio!

check this out over at phandroid..
//phandroid.com/2010/04/22/wireless-n-on-the-nexus-one-could-it-be/
Looks like wifi n is working and fm radio coming so with 2.2..
Uh, I already connect via 802.11n to my home router, as confirmed in my router logs that shows that my chumby is connecting at 802.11g and my laptop and phone are connecting at 802.11n.
It might not be getting 'n' speeds, but it certainly appears to be connecting that way.
I have the '850' (AT&T) version of the phone, f/w 2.1-update1 build epe54b, bought about a month ago.
Am I stating the obvious?
I have a wireless n and my nexus connects as well as having N speeds. I get about 6MBs d/l.
I have screenshots connecting to an N-only router at 65mbit and I've connected at 84mbit other times. So yeah, I'm confused.

Mine connects at N speeds (or at least identifies as 72Mbps) and using iperf to measure I can get 34Mbits/sec, though my access points have N they only have a 100Mbit LAN connection on them. For a connection that negotiates at 72Mbits/sec I think getting almost 50% of that in actual speed is pretty good. However, you will note that, 34Mbits/sec is well within reason for wireless G.
to be honest i didnt even realize that until after I looked into it. I guess its good news for the stock guys..So anyone heard anything new with the fm tuner?
Didn't we already figure the 802.11n part of this out?
As I recall, the N1 was initially advertised as being N compatible. Then Google took that off the site. I think it's assumed that it's able to connect to 2.4Ghz networks, but not 5Ghz networks. So, it connects to some 802.11n networks, but not all. There's some kind of speed penalty for being unable to use the 5GHz portion of the spec, AFAIK.
Hope someone corrects me if I'm wrong.
It said "802.11 b/g/n" on googles page when I bought it. It gave me the "go ahead" reason to buy an N router.
It just says 802.11 b/g now though...as already stated.
Who really cares? Wireless G is not going to be a bottleneck connecting to the internet, and I don't know if we can move data onto the microsd card all that fast anyway.
So with the new driver adding FM support does that mean we'll still have to wait for 2.2 or can people start getting it working now?

Not unless you can compile it...
Unless kmobs or cyanogen has released a compiled version that they were playing with last night?
this is no problem to compile with a standart (included) make script. But ! It will be executable file (if you want i can post him). It works (runs) but i dont know now what to do with him =).
Can anybody post here manual for this controller? First of all i want to try FM transmitter.
Late i will post executeble, and .so file (try to think about compile .ko module)
Sorry for my english =).
where is the last driver?
on git I only see the driver from October 2009..
nice
The ability to connect to N is great but what I really want is the FM transmitter!
I can see nothing in the driver suggesting FM support... I'd imagine that the FM support would fall into either a separate driver or perhaps the Bluetooth driver for that chip (as it operates through that part of the chip and shares audio inputs/outputs with the Bluetooth). Aaaannnnd I can't see if or where an open source Bluetooth driver for this chip is. We'll have to wait for the Desire kernel source.
Wireless N is working perfectly with my N1 and laptop. I have my router on N only and the phone is connected at 65mbps. I get download speeds of upto 9Mbps, which is max for my internet. When I was on G only I would usually get around 2-6Mbps from the N1. So the wireless N mode is more stable and consistent.
+1 on the FM transmitter.
For vehicles without bluetooth and for those who do not want an extra wire.
SQUEAL!
FM receiver, can't wait....

[Q] App available for broadcasting Wifi not ad-hoc?

Hi all-
I am running the froyo 7.1 android build on my Spring Rhodium 400. My hotspot activates however will not disengage and then reboots my phone. I understand this is a known problem. Essentially i need to broadcast a non ad hoc network. I am solely using this android build to access the wifi hotspot which would allow me to connect to my HP Touchpad. Touchpad does not recognize ad-hoc. If there is an app on the market or elsewhere that will allow me to broadcast a signal i would appreciate it.
Kind Regards,

How to wifi tether using a phone with 2.1 android

Hi.
Recently bought a Nexus 7 and i've been trying to use wifi tethering but can't seem to be able to do it.
I have a rooted Samsung GT-I5801 phone with android 2.1 and i've been using wifi tethering without a problem with my IPAD. In Nexus, it doesn't show in the list of available wifi networks to connect.
Already tried to tether bluetooth but apparently it's not possible with android 2.1
Any ideias of what i'm doing wrong?
Already tried to install FoxFi, but it's not compatible with android 2.1
help?
If applicable, try checking that the phone is set to 2.4 ghz for wi-fi output, rather than 5ghz. Nexus 7 supports the former only.
I can tether my htc sensation to the nexus 7 so it does work.

Only have configuration for
"wireless frequency channel" and "Transmit Power". None of them have the value you said

Pay attention to the [ strike ] [ / strike ] tags.
Step 1,2 and 5 in the tutorial are not needed.
Thank you for your replies.
Managed to get it working by installing Open Garden in both devices. Everything is working.

You asking about oneplus 2 phone?
Then it's hardware supports dual band wifi that means you can access your dual band wifi as well as can create hotspot of dual band, for enabling dual band hotspot you just need Android marshmallow in your phone, every marshmallow ROM supports it

i hope so, tried on OOS. the 5ghz band hotspot isnt working
It works on CM 14.1. My hotspot is able to host using 802.11ac. Bandwidth is 433mhz. Beats the pants off the 2.4ghz hotspot.
Hastily spouted for your befuddlement
Try changing wifi band to 5ghz,
Settings, wifi, tree dot menu, advance
