Hi all!
On a forum here in Brazil, one guy say that his friend that work on Motorola Brazil take your Atrix to Motorola's engineers and they update the phone. No news at this point, but the update display the version 2.3.5... and it's debranded.
Some screenshots above.
The refered forum is this
Credits to flavioaugustosbc, from atrixbrasil for share with us the pics.
My Atrix was sent to Moto for repair. It's being delivered today and according to the Fedex tracking it came from Mexico. I wonder if they're ahead of the game like the Brazilians?
ETA: It's 2.3.4

I hope. The guy that own the phone, can't do a NB of the rom yet, because don't found a method to root the phone.
Strange is why only in Brazil the Android version is 2.3.5?
Let's wait until the release roll out
And about October 5th be the delivery day. Do you got some information about it?
No yet. This is a notice that come from a friend of the Atrix owner, of the original post in atrixbrasil foruns.
Hi Marcelo,
great news for all of us. I was just wondering if this will help the devs for the missing features of CM7 like the fingerprint and webtop, or if they are not related at all.
If they are related we must help our fellow brazilian who got the update to leak it to the devs ASAP!

I hope too. But don't know if the missing features in CM7 will be present in this update. But, who knows...
the venezuelan atrix (due sometime before december) also comes with 2.3.5, confirmed with pics on venezuelan blog tecnomovida.com
my bet is that moto's brazilian devs did all the work and moto will just sell it here

these features are probably just integrated into motoblur, and therefor they have to be built from scratch for CM7. =\

Thnx for share your knowledge.
Alcapone263,
the guy mencioned in the first post is trying to root your phone.
Maybe the some root tool for Nexus S work!?
yeah, it should work, but this way would work as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15023022&postcount=2

Thanks Alcapone263, i will post this on atrixbrasil forum.
The only thing that really has to be written from scratch is the driver I guess... Authentec released Data Defender in the market, so using the fingerprint in CM7 is as easy as copying the fingerprint data from your blurbuild, installing CM7, installing DataDefender and Presto!
(at least, that's what I heard...)
afaik the 2.3.5 update is only at the google apps level, so if you have the latest google apps (that you install with cm7) you are already on 2.3.5. Besides, it's just a minor point release. Don't get excited
Actually, he is on stock 2.3.5, updated by Motorola Brazil...
And he can't root at all.. Used (at least he says) 3 different root programs and couldn't..
If you check his baseband, it's 1.19 instead of the usual 1.17..
Doubt
Is it? I doubt it ...

isnt 2.3.5 an update to google wallet and NFC stuff which the atrix doesnt support? am i missing something here? anyone got a changelog?

Lucky Nexus One bustards
As owners for X10, are we eligible for this update??
-----------------------------
Google is also celebrating today - Android 2.2 Froyo has reached two important milestones. Google open sourced the latest version and they are pushing out the final Froyo update to Nexus One users. And we're sure the timing has nothing to do with the launch of the iPhone 4.
Sure, Froyo has been available to Nexus One users for a while (mostly on dev phones and through manual updates), but this seems to be the final, official version of Android 2.2. You could manually download the update from here (it works only if you're running FRF50 firmware), though if you don't know what you're doing, you should wait for the OTA update.
Your Nexus One should automatically check for updates or you could force a check (go to Settings -> About phone -> System updates), so one way or another you should be getting a notification that a new version is available and download it Over-the-Air.
Some people are reporting that the update is not available for them yet, so it might not work right away - rolling out updates is a gradual process and it varies by location too.
The other important milestone for Android 2.2 Froyo is that Google open-sourced the code to their partners and manufacturers and everyone else too. This means that they can start working on Froyo firmwares for the non-Google phones.
------------------------------------------
Can we have official feedback from SE guys?

Well the Nexus One is a Google brand phone so it's no huge surprise that the Nexus gets it first. It'd be more suprising if it didn't.

Totally agree with you, but I believe SE should consider updating us (X10 users) to the 2.2 not 2.1
Anybody is reading from SE team???

You put your hope on SE? Joke or what?
The way I see it with Android devices is that you buy the hardware and then hack the software to hell and back. Just didn't count on the X10 being so hard to mod when I got it, guess I'm too used to HTC phones.

I've heard tons of timeframes, all of them are "Later", "Soon", "When it's done" and so on. Afaict they've got it working but need to make it more noob-friendly as well as hide the exploit.
I understand that 'root' has been achieved, but won't there be further delays until a stable custom Rom is created for the x10?

Oh yes, it will take anywhere from a short while to a very long time afterwards. Getting root is just one step of the way.

Thought as much. From the posts on other threads it seems as though posters think root and ROM will appear simultaneously.
I can imagine that the first ROMs we'll get our hands on will have all sorts of bugs, and we'll have to compromise on things like WiFi, Bluetooth e.t.c. Maybe due to lack of drivers available.
I'm going on past experience from The G1 and old WinMo devices.
Oh well.......
Remember to be realistic, guys. The devs can't just copy and paste Froyo onto our X10s without a hitch. It will take some time. I'm not even anticipating a stable version of Froyo on the X10 because it is a huge task.
What I'd like to see is the latest FW but stripped down with no branding or operator software (and no Moxier crap!!!). And if it's possible, for Flash to be released on the X10. That may not be feasible but I certainly hope it's available. SE takes forever!!

Hi!
Since gingerbread update on my DHD I never got the 2.3.6 version of Android Market.
I'm still stuck on 2.3.4.
Is it the same for you?
I'm wondering if there is an OTA bug on DHD, and if we'll be able to get the new market (3.0.27)...
I know that I could just install the APK, but previous "silent" OTA used to work before the gingerbread update, so I wonder why it didn't with v2.3.6...
Thanks for your info!
Thats whats happened to all of us. The reason really is- The Gingerbread FOTA update was released before the new market was announced.
According to sources like engadget and pocketnow , most high end phones should expect the upgrade within the next couple of weeks. If that's too long for you (as is for most of us) you can simply take the .apk which can be found on the forums here.
indeed, manually installing the apk works just fine, i did it myself

Yes, but it doesn't explain why we never got the 2.3.6 after, while the other devices were receiving it with silent OTA.
Does anyone know whether the new Market available on xda is the same as the expected final release?
I really like the interface of the new Market but it feels a little slow at times.
Duncan
I'm still in 2.3.4, whereas everyone is reporting getting the new 3.1.3 version...
Why don't we get any of the latest 3 market OTA?!? Did htc broke the ability of our phones to upgrade themselves?
It seems that the Desire Z has the same issue...
Heard it was only release in the US.
It has been release in the UK only last week and it was only to Samsung devices...

[UPDATE][APP] Android Market 3.1.3
Is ICS likely to be available on the Defy+? I'm thinking of buying one, but would like to know first.
Cheers
Google said, that all devices with stock Gingerbread, should got ICS ... but who knows ... I hope so. But I guess, it should have - Moto is part of Google, so why not.
Of course moto got bought by Google. But this doesn't mean Google will get involved to the politics of moto. I hope you'll understand what I'm triying to say xD.

I love rooting just to install sun dreams SRom...he's now not doing them anymore so that combined with the fact I want Oreo and the M9 is so wonderfully fast might stop me.
I will certainly wait until the Oreo update....to be fair though my favorite so far has been Jellybean!! Nougat is dull, I can't stand the Sense icons...thank goodness for the Theme app.

Guys, please don't put your hopes too high and take this rumor* with not only a grain but two hands full of salt.
HTC (like all big OEMs) officially supports its devices for 24 months after their market release. The M9 is getting three years old, soon. In other words, it's more than unlikely that HTC will provide any further updates for the M9. Especially since the EOL phase got reached almost a year ago and not just recently.
In addition, why should a carrier branded device get a major android update the unbranded European version or the dev edition doesn't get? Don't forget that these two versions normally got their updates around 3 months before the carrier branded ones. If the Optus variant really got android 8 at then end of February or the beginning of March then SKU 401 and 617 would already be running this newer version since somewhen between late December and mid-January.
Disclaimer: Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see the M9 getting another major update. However, chances are more than high that the whole thing is just a canard.
* Since this info is nothing more than that.
If a specific career device gets an update, would it be possible for all other variants to run it (ported version , may be?)?
Or, would it be possible to port it to other varriants?

It depends. Theoretically, it should be possible, but some carrier specific feature might not work for other carrier. That is, if the ROM is still compatible with the old firmware.

In general term yes.
Note that carrier specific would sometimes means ril+modem. So in such cases, the port could work but leaving phone and data capability out.
