[Q] HDMI Issue - Acer Iconia A500

Gents,
I just received today an adapter Micro-HDMI to HDMI and connected to my monitor HP 2309m.
Bought on Amazon:
1 mumbi MICRO HDMI auf HDMI Adapter - vergoldet + zertifiziert - HDMI Buchse (19pol) auf mikro HDMI Stecker - Adapter mit Ethernet - Audio Rückkanal
Tablet says - HDP-HDMI Connected (or something like that) but on the monitor i see only the green big droid mascot saying "720p?". See attachment.
Is there something wrong with the ROM or it is my monitor?
Should i change somewhere some settings?
HV 1.2 with Richardtrip Kernel 3.4.
I did not check it with other ROMs.
From other side - this adapter (or the socket in Iconia) is really piece of **** - it works only in fixed position - small movement of the tablet or cable and the connection is gone.

I found that the micro HDMI connector on the tablet side needs to be firmly seated. I thought my HDMI out wasn't working at all until I applied the "right" amount of pressure when plugging the cable into the socket. Once I did all was good.

as you can see - the connection is ok and the picture is clear.
If the connection is not ok - there is nothing on the monitor or some video noise.

really no one is able to help me???

Are you sure your monitor's settings are correct? HDMI allows the connected devices to "talk" to each other, so it could be a way of the tablet telling you that the monitor is not at the right settings.
As for the connection at the tablet, maybe it's a crap cable? I bought a 15ft from Monoprice, and it connects fine and does not have any problems with moving the tablet around.

yep - it is a HoneyVilllain ROM issue.
just tried another ROM - Thor Revoler Port from Transformer.
HDMI together with audio works perfect now.

i have this cable PENTAX 39550 HDMI Micro D / HDMI and working perfectly on my monitor and my plasma

strange
the same issue as with HV ROM i have with Taboonay.....
big green droid mascot on the monitor..
HDMI was working only with Thor's Revolver V3 ported from Tansformer...
but from other side... i do not want ROM not based on Acer... and it has some strange lag on my iconia....
so.... what is the reason of this HDMI Issue on Taboonay and HoneyVillain Roms??
no idea..... as for now i do not use HDMI.... i need more the smoothness of the Taboonay or HV as the HDMI
but.... would be nice to have

I have a taboonay rom

No issues with HDMI connection (720p) using Taboonay 2.1 and Thor kernel 3.5.
Best regards, maris

hmmm... so it could be kernel issue... as originally Tabonnay has HV 3.4 kernel..

just tried Thor's kernel 3.6 and HDMI works prefect.
But Thor's kernel is not so stable, not so fast and has SU issues.
If it would be possible to fix this in Richard's kernel - would be great.

It is working as well on HV 1.05a with Richards Kernel 2.5.
So only the latest kernel has this issue.
Btw. tired of all issues with 3.2 ROMs i reverted to HV 1.05a (with HC 3.1) and i'm really happy.

[DEV-INFO] USB is a host controller on GTab

After much thinking (ok not really - just an idea) about the usb port on the GTablet, I decided to test out whether or not it's a USB host controller as I hadn't seen anything in any documentation saying either way.
Thanks to TheJesus (Winnah9000 on irc) and cryofix on irc channel #tegratab for testing and reporting back their results.
I am posting what is confirmed as working so far:
(cryofix)
ROM version: Vegan 5.1
Kernel version: pershoot 2.6.32.28
Hub type: 5-in-1 reader and 5-port hub
Peripherals: keyboard & mouse (mouse doesn't work on Vegan 5.1), SoundBlaster USB sound (didn't get it to work, but did show up as connected in logcat)
(Winnah9000)
ROM version: CM7
Kernel version: pershoot 2.6.32.28
Hub type: 4-port hub
Peripherals: keyboard and mouse
***Note: Winnah9000 stated that he was using Quake 3 for Android on the GTablet and controlling using the keyboard and mouse connected to the 4-port hub:
Winnah9000: Omg, Quake 3 is hilarious on this. Only issue is that since keyboard and mouse are on the same hub they are having issues trying to communicate at the same time so the mouse is very jittery, but it's fine for a fast-paced game like Quake 3
Winnah9000: Quake 3 runs so fluid
Winnah9000: http://code.google.com/p/kwaak3/ Quake 3 on Android
Winnah9000: 35-60FPS on max settings

Thought I'd go ahead and add my details in (I'm Winnah9000 in IRC)
Keyboard - WITGlobal.com's G Tab case w/ built-in keyboard.
Mouse - Crappy Dell laser mouse
Experience - Not as good as a computer because the mouse input is jittery when using the keyboard in conjunction as they are clashing when communicating. Amazing seeing how this is a tablet without full OpenGL optimization. There's no kind of lag at all, constant high 30s to 60s with one other bot (haven't tried more).
Other notes - I had used an Asus ROG laser mouse with like 3000dpi but that was way too sensitive to use. Gonna try using my G15 keyboard and a bluetooth mouse over the next couple days when I get bored to see if I notice any kind of difference. Also, the keyboard I am using doesn't particularly like multiple simultaneous keystrokes so running diagonally is hit and miss :/
If anyone has any questions or wants me to test something, feel free to ask here or in IRC

He said everything mounted except for the DVD drive but he didn't try it. So, we can definitely do external storage, but we need more internal!
I've been sidetracked getting everything converted over to Debian 6.0 on my desktop machine and netbook so the DVD has been in use. If it doesn't mount it'd just be an issue of ISO/UDF filesystem drivers and those can be compiled and loaded as modules.
so?
does this mean there may be a way to use my android phone as a keyboard/trackpad?
something similar to gmote working as keyboard/trackpad for my pc. i'm using tnt lite though.
Apple aluminum USB keyboards still do not seem to work. A dell mouse plugged into the Apple keyboard does, so apparently the Hub in these keyboards work.
Due to it's size and built-in hub, the mini apple keyboard (without numeric pad) makes a perfect companion to the G-Tablet. Too bad it does not work.

OK wireless mouse 2.4GHZ (not BT) module for acer a500 3.1

Finally wireless mouse and keyboard ZYMM (2.4GHz dongle) not bluetooth work within the Iconia a500 android 3.1 kernel 2.6.36.3

I have a cheap 20 dollar combo works without modding
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
In my case, I have tried with a normal mouse, that works perfectly! nonetheless I have not yet tried with a BT mouse, since I don't find the adapter for PS2 to USB
If I find it, I will try again and put the result here.
regards
can you make it for taboonay 2.0 with 3.2 ???
My full stock OS3.1 Iconia works great with either my logitech 2.4ghz mouse with the mini dongle and my Razer Orochi in both BTooth and wired modes. Maybe I'm missing what the OP is asking, but it seems the Iconia works with many if not all popular brands/models of mice and keyboards.
Hello,
Can you please explain how install or make hi-sunplus.ko driver for taboonay 2.0 ? (noobs inside ...)
Thanks !

How do i get hdmi to work?

I tried connecting the tab to my 720p TV and all I get is the android mascot saying 720p? The sound however plays if I play some video. Does anyone else have this problem?
gIVE MORE INFO IT SHOULD JUST WORK
first ..
is your tablet Stock . some custom roms have issues with hdmi..
have you tested the cable with another device.. the micro hdmi cable seems to have a very high defective rate.
With the above known issues ..
if you are stock and you have your tv on the correct input device setting.
try connecting the cable set the tv correctly.. as in hdmi 3 in the tvs menue and the cable connected to port 3..
turn off both ..
turn on tv set it hdmi 3.
turn off your tablet. plug in the cable to iconia.. turn on tablet.. see if this works..
others have said this helps.. my hdmi port would not work correctly when i got my tablet had to hold the hdmi cable just right. this was only temporary for some reason.. g
GOOD LUCK..
Is the picture your seeing with the android figure on your Iconia or your tv?? Or both??? You should see a mirror image of your iconia on the tv. If your getting the message on the tv and the iconia is displaying its normal desktop image than your tv may not support 720p input or your iconia couldn't negotiate the resolution with your tv. Try a different hdmi port or a different tv and see what happens.
its stock with the latest os. The message only shows up on the TV. TV definitely supports 720p as that's what I am outputting my TV stb and my streaming box to. Hopefully this is just a case of a defective microusb cable. I could try it another TV, but it wouldn't tell me if the ddevice is defective or the cable. I guess I will have to buy another microusb cable aand hope it works.
If your seeing an image on your tv than I don't think its the cable. The Iconia just may not be able to talk to your tv properly. I would try it on another tv if able just to confirm. Also, turn your tv off, fully power down your tablet, plug together, first turn on tv, after tv is up and running then turn on your iconia. It seems to me that something is going on with the hdmi handshake and this should get your devices to talk to each other in the correct order.

My Iconia works fine, but I had this same issue on an older Toshiba laptop, and these procedures worked every time.
So I tried the above instructions turning both devices on, connecting, turning tv on first and then the iconia but still the same result. The green android mascot with the 720p? speech bubble. I guess I will have to try another tv somewhere.
Same issue for me, I bought this cable today for 19,99 €.
I read in an another thread (not in xda), that the problem is solved with a high quality cable (hdmi 1.3 or more, 39,99 €).
Or directly in the acer store : here.

Are you on a stock rom near stock.. Some of the Well cooked roms could have a issue with this function.. If you are on a custom rom.. Go to the rom developers thread and ask this Question . If you are on stock 3.2.1 the most current . I would try if you can to test your cable. If the cable is not bad Call ACER (GOOD LUCK WITH THAT). I know mine I put the cable in back of tv on HDMI 4 . SET THE TV Input to hdmi 4 and plug it in..
anyway good luck also people have said they needed to wiggly around there cable use caution doing so..
im using a 6€ cable from some cheap market and everything works fine with thors kernel 3.9r4..
i had many troubles with hdmi and other kernels.. tv and tablet have to be on and then plug in the cable.. thats the only way to get it working for me

HDMI - Audio but No Video

Hi XDA Community - I'm having trouble getting video from the HDMI port to my Toshiba LCD tv. When I plug it in, I get audio, but no video. I've tried:
- All three HDMI ports with two different cables - even an HDMI range extender just in case.
- Going back to stock 4.2.2 and 4.3 unrooted, etc. in case it was an issue with a custom rom.
- Turing on the TV, then the tablet, tablet then TV, etc.
Any thoughts or help?

Just as an update - I updated the firmware on the TV (Toshiba noted compatibility fixes for HDMI) but still audio with no video.
Maybe call Google for a replacement?

[Q] Samsung MHL to HDMI Adapter Sound Dropouts

Hi there!
I bought Samsung MHL to HDMI Adapter (H10FAUWE) to use my Galaxy Note 3/4 (4.4.2) as players for my my Epson Projector TW6100W. I used the standard HDMI-cable (CTI AWM 20276 VW-1 80°C 30V E81280-D HIGH SPEED WITH ETHERNET) that I got with my projector. The image is perfect, HDMI-link works as charm, but sound interrupts every 5-10 seconds. It is not sound delays but rather 1 second dropouts... I have tried this with Galaxy Note 4 (4.4.4) - the same. I tried with power and without on MHL2HDMI adapter and there is absolutely no difference. So I have 3 suspects: HDMI-cable (though it works fine with my MacBook as a player), Projector and MHLHDMI adapter. Any guesses why I have this problem and suggestions how to address it are very much appreciated.
Thanks!

Update:
I have checked My MHL2HDMI Adapter with different devices (with flat TVs) and it works flawless without any sign of sound issue... So there is something wrong with Projector TW6100W... However it has WirelessHD function, so I tried with that, and every time when I managed to establish stable wireless connection (which is not so easy) it works fine, no sound dropouts... So something wrong with HDMI ports on the projector side. Will try to connect support.
To whom it may concern
problem not solved, but the reason has been found, there is answer from Epson support:
Hello,
if you read the specification to MHL you see, that you need an HDMI Port in the projector within the MHL-Specification. There is no HDMI-MHL Port in the TW-6100W.
EH-TW6600W has such a Port. It is HDMI1. It has MHL-Specifications (with 5V etc.)
This will be the reason for that.

It is so pity, because it is almost working! :crying:
Just small update:
I found the way to make it work!!!
Despite the fact that TW6100W does not have HDMI ports with MHL support I manged successfully to connect my Note 3 to TW6100W and watch movie !!!! He-he. So I used WirelessHD transmitter and plug my phone to it and this works. Not all the times! But recipe is quite simple: connect everything, set you Note3 in Flight Mode, restart WirelessHD transmitter !
