when I tried to add a picture frame widget I noticed that it was 2x2 instead of the normal 3x3 the YouTube widget also shrunk to 4x1 which just makes it look squished. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a way to fix them? Rebooting didn't help
I don't know if it'll help but sometimes a couple of my Widgets go smaller and all I have to do is rotate the tablet to portrait and then back to landscape again.

worked!
Wow thanks that actually worked. I always have mine locked in landscape mode so I wouldn't have thought of that.

hi, i notice in videos that when you're in the home screen, you're locked into landscape mode? Is that right?
Is there anyway you can make it so you can be in either landscape or portrait mode depending on how you're holding it?
THanks!

At present the only way is to use a different launcher such as adw our launcher pro.
everything else works in portrait btw, just not the home screen.
Tbh that doesn't bother me, took about 5 minutes to get used to, and makes sense to do that.

I've got Launcher Pro Plus and my home screen filled with 5 light widgets. I've noticed that when switching between portrait and landscape, all the widgets will disappear and refresh in about 1-2 seconds. Its not an issue, but it somewhat sticks out next to the fluidity of the rest of the UI. I forgot to test it out on the stock UI; does the stock launcher do this with stock widgets? My guess is that there's a lack of rotation animations for these , but that's just a swing in the dark. I suppose I should ask if this is normal behavior, and if not, did I miss a setting?
Thanks in advance.

Getting deeper into the second page, quick bump!
i dont think you missed a setting. i feel like launcherpro doesnt work properly on the g2. its glitchy for me, i keep getting a blank homescreen sometimes then it refreshes to the all the widgets and icons. the dock is sweet, but doesnt feel like the sacrafice of glitchyness is a even trade.

I get that too... I hope we see an optimization soon. It's not expensive by any means, but it stinks to have a paid product wasted...
Oh, and does that mean this phenomenon doesn't occur on other devices?
Maybe a little late, but I believe the refreshing of the home screen after rotating the device has to do with the widgets you use.
I've noticed this when putting the "easy button widget" on my home screen. Since that moment the screen started to refresh after a orientation-switch. I removed the widget, and it was allright again.
Autorotation was working just fine until today. Now it's locked in portrait. I have it set to autorotate in my launcher (Nova Launcher) and the icon in the status bar is unlocked. And, I'm rooted.
Any suggestions?
UPDATE: Seems it's not a complete loss of autorotation. However, it does take about 15-25 seconds to autorotate. I'm certain it didn't take that long when I first got it.
I am still stock, unrooted.. running Nova and Apex launchers (betas), and recently I started thinking my auto rotation isn't responding as well. Not just on the home screens but overall. It just seems less sensitive. It seems like I have to be at a 90 degree angle for the rotate to happen and before it didn't seem that extreme. Before I thought it was taking a while to rotate (not as long as yours) but then realized I just had to tilt it more extreme than I thought. Not sure if I'm just crazy or if something is actually different...

Shortly before I read this, I discovered the same thing you did--that if I angled the N7 in towards me, autorotation was activated. WHY it came to be like this is a mystery. And, how to restore it to "normal" is even a greater riddle.

Try Ultimate Rotation Control in the app store...set it to auto and u should be good...its a free 7-day trial and after that its a paid app but at least u get to see if it works for what u need and later u can decide to buy or not

Home screen autorotate
Hello, my problem is the home screens won't rotate no matter what I do. The display is set to auto rotate and it works fine for everything else, just not the home screens. Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance.

Are you using the default, stock launcher? If so it doesn't support rotating even when auto rotate is enabled. You have to install another home replacement, such as Nova or Apex.
Thanks!

This is just what I was looking for - Thank you!!
BTW, it is curious that my Moto Xoom home screens rotate fine and it is running Android 4.1.1 as well.
Cheers!
The mystery has been solved. Turned out to be the LCD density set to other than default. I reset it to 213 and all is well.

That wasn't the case for me. I'm unrooted and have never changed my LCD density. However, I did just try downloading the compass app and did the "figure 8" calibration and that seemed to put things back to normal in terms of auto rotation responsiveness.
I'm just running in here. I noticed someone mention that the home screen does not auto rotate. This is a feature of the nexus 7. There is a fully free app called Rotation Locker that works great, even though the widget is broken. For the nexus 7, when you get it, launch the app and longpress on the option you want.
Also nearly all devices have to have their sensors recalibrated from time to time. So it should not be a big deal for anybody to download a compass app or the highly useful app Android System Information, and use the settings there to calibrate all of the various sensors. It also recommend this app widget to see battery, and storage information - even if the app is very much not customizable.

I don't know if this had been posted, but if you own the Xperia Z charging dock you can enable landscape home screen rotation
turn off the phone and then dock the phone (in off mode).
After the charging icon appears, just power up the phone while its in the dock. Once the phone is powered up, just remove it from the dock and you should be able to rotate the home screen.
But, what's the point?

different strokes for different folks you know...
I like to use the phone in landscape on my desk without the dock and if you're in an app that is in landscape, e.g. a movie, you don't have to flip the screen back to portrait when you have to goto the home screen.
Really smart trick

Or just use Rotation Control from the play store ...
Hi,
can you please help me finding the tool which will force ALL applications work in landscape mode? Ie when my phone is in dock and i am using phone app - it is getting back to portrait mode when placing the call.
Thanks in advance!

Is there a way to fool the phone into thinking it's docked I much prefer landscape

I can already do this permanently with an app in the drop down notification menu, I can select landscape and it'll force landscape for everything but I get a native result. Works for everything except for portrait apps, and vice versa. This works on the lockscreen too.

What i found is rotation locker - works as expected. The only issue is with screen locker (pattern).

I've changed the dpi in build prop to 320 and auto rotate is automatically activated, I set font too large and I quite like this dpi,. Now if there was a way to make widgets bigger. Screen shots attached.

I'm talking about Screen Orientation Control on the Google Play Store.
This is what it looks like, hopefully it works.
Not sure what happened to the screen resolution is it some random imgur compression thing?
Thanks for the link for the app. Now I can control the orientation whenever I just want it to change.
Re: All above posts
Hey people,
I think you guys might be interested in the app called "Rotation Anywhere".
This is exactly the app all of you above are looking for.
And the best part "it's free". !!! :good:

Whether I use Holo Launcher Pro or Apex Launcher, the homescreen in fine in portrait mode. When I tilt the phone into landscape mode on the homescreen, the homescreens on the left partially show.
In other words, I can see partial widgets from second homescreens on the left and right of the main screen in landscape mode. I hope this makes sense.
Anyway, I was hoping to know if anyone else was experiencing this, or if it can be corrected. I messed around with rows and columns but I just can't get it correct. Are these apps needing updates for the new size or do I have some type of setting wrong on the S4?
Any help is appreciated.
