I wonder what this update is for or if its 2.3.5?
Which GS2 do you have?
I would assume it would be the U.K version since Clove and all allowed shipping first from the U.K.
Most of them in circulation are the U.K SGS II's. Even in India, a week before the SGS II was officially launched, the U.K version was being passed around.
I have a UK phone and it says I have the most current firmware KE7, 2.3.3 How is it that you are getting an update and I'm not? Also, if you're on 2.3.4 means you have a custom ROM how is Kies updating your phone anyway??

When u Flash KI2

Guys, how did you get the Kies update? Mine gets stuck when it gets to the USB drivers' cab file download. Tried it several times. Then uninstalled it, downloaded the whole thing from Samsung, installed it, and same thing happens again.
Any suggestions?
I'm not getting the update and might just jump in to a custom rom. Any one suggest one?
PLS disregard my post #10.
Got Kies to update. Not sure if that was the reason, but this time I ran the update while having the phone connected to the PC via USB cable while updating Kies.
Now it's version 2.0.3.11082_152.
HOWEVER, no updating to 2.3.4. It says I have the latest FW version:
PDA:KH1 / Phone:KH1 CSC:KH1 (IDE)
And that is 2.3.3

Hello. I have recently bought a T-Mobile unlocked Galaxy S (Vibrant) from ebay and I am trying to upgrade it to 2.2 (it is 2.1 now) using Kies Mini but I get the message "Error upgrading phone." After looking on the internet, I found that you cannot upgrade the phone if you use it in another country (I bought the phone from a UK company through ebay and I live in Cyprus). I also saw that there is a registry hack to trick Kies mini to think that you are in a different country, but I don't know what values to put there. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Just try to root it and use a custom 2.2 rom. You will be much more satisfied.

I bought my Vibrant when i was in USA. Now i'm in France,i have a french sim and i'm using Kies Mini to update it.It worked even with KB1.
I bought unlocked T-Mobile USA Vibrant, live in Russia and upgrade it here, first time to J16, later to KA6 FROYO without any problem via Kies mini.

Is this the registry hack you are referring to?
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/related/dsiiq/samsung_galaxy_s_upgraded_to_22_with_kies/
That should work for you since the author is in NZ and was able to get the kies upgrade. There's another article here on XDA for those that want to trick kies into download mode even though they are not running official roms:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9140758&postcount=1
Be forewarned. Kies mini may still give you problems, it's a little buggy. Halfway through the upgrade process I got "Error upgrading phone" and this on my phone:

black screen of death.
Pulled battery, same thing. Pulled battery again, put it back in, held both volume I was able to get into recovery mode and the upgrade resumed. That was fun..NOT!!!
Maybe you should take a look here on how to use Odin to flash the official froyo rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=849028
Good luck.
FYI a little googling goes a long way.
phrack, another method to get rid of that screen if your phone is already connected to your pc and your running heimdall is C:\<path-to-heimdall>\heimdall close-pc-screen
not only do i have adb set up in PATH, I have heimdall in PATH as well. I use it quite frequently with the zImages.
That's good to know..if you're running heimdall...
But I was running kies (just like the OP) so that wouldn't have helped me. I just found out about heimdall but since more people here use odin I would probably use that when I decide to flash since it would be easier to get help.
Loaded Kies earlier and it prompted for an update. Did so then hooked up my tab to check IF there were any updates.
Got the following under Firmware Information.

I updated to the German JB ROM when it came out, then swapped back to the UK when it finally released. I didn't change CSC or anything else. I did use Chainfires Exynos Exploit app to root and fix the exploit then I fully unrooted prior to flashing the UK specific JB release. Running firmware update from the device throws back the usual device has most recent firmware installed.
My device is saying OFFICIAL, in the Status menu AND in the Recovey menu. Anyone else having similar trouble with Kies?
May be it has something to with exploit patch which has rewritten some of the system files and change the binary numbers as ota checks for that I suggest you do a clean install
Csc LL1 BGL isn't UK.
you'll need to change it to BTU using csc changer, (don't forget that will factory reset)

I noticed that yesterday after I posted this thread. I was under the impression you had to use an app to change the CSC on the 8010. Maybe my tab wasn't a UK tab after all lol.
The only thing I have ever done to the tab was install the exynos exploit fix, rooted, then unrooted and installed the german rom. Then I installed the UK rom when it was released. Never once did a factory reset or apply any CSC changes....
Yesterday I installed the exynos fix rom that Legion posted links to.
Its not causing any issues so far. Not had any region specific issues, but then I never had any before either.
Hi guys I'm kinda new here and a beginner in flashing but anyway I need some help i have a Samsung s4 gt-i9505 and just as 4.4.2 kitkat came out I wished to upgrade due to Australia was one of the last countries to receive the update so I flashed my firmware to
Some thing else to get the new firmware which I thinks German anyway Australia has caught up with the world now and I wish to go back to Australian firmware but unsure of how to do so I have downloaded Australian 4.3 telstra firmware as I can't seem to find a 4.4.2 Australian firmware to download so my question is how do I go about downgrading to 4.3 from a up to date 4.4.2 firmware with Odin? Please remember that I'm kinda new to this and also I've attached a screen shot with my current version

You don't need and can't downgrade. If you received OTA (Over the air) update and ur phone updated to GN5 means that ur phone isnt Australian, it's german. You can know it better doing this steps:
1. Install Kies 3 and it will give u the CSC (device code zone) like in pic attached.
2. Take a look the CODE of 3 letters in this page for check the country of your device -> HERE
3. Done
*EDIT: The latest firmware update for i9505 is I9505XXUGNF1 if you own a german phone (DBT).
Ha! And it only took 5 months until the first 4.4 update in the US was released.
Don't know which version it is yet, but the update has 579 MB. I'm currently downloading it and will report the version as soon as I have installed it.
Something went wrong I downloaded the file and tried to install it, but after the Reset it said that the Firmware update could not be installed, I should try with PC (Kies). I connected to Kies but no new firmware was found. I tried to update OTA again, but it said that the newest firmware is already installed (it's still the old one)
I don't know if Samsung removed the OTA update again or my tablet has some issues. I'll wait for other German users to report.
No problem here, even after restart no problems.....

I actually can't believe we have it in the UK!!
Cheers for letting me know @thomlh ... I have auto updates off incase its a duff update as I suffered problems with the last S3 update before they went back and stopped coz the S3 updates had loads of issues. I was stuck with a paper weight for a week.
Is it running smoothly?
P.s. create a new thread for UK update as I dont want to take credit for telling people - that way we can talk about any issues with the update for UK users.
I tried the update a second time this morning and now it worked. Great!

Odin failing at sboot.bin could mean you are flashing wrong firmware for your phone or your trying to flash older version firmware than what is on your phone(bootloader version). Have you tried latest firmware g950fxxu4cri5.
Yes,I think it's the last one for my phone, actually using RENOVATE_ICE_G95X-13.4,but now I see that it was locked to a Portuguese operator, MEO and I'm trying to flash the unlocked operator rom, could it be that?

Could be. I don't use carrier branded firmware and if I can help it never will there's enough crap just with Google and Samsung. If it does fail with unbranded (carrier) firmware then flash the carrier version. Either way you will more than likely need the latest firmware version to return to stock rom.

it doesn´t want to cooperate, already tested a Carrier rom and unbranded and the error it´s always the same, after loading the binaries on Odin and the COM port get´s blues it fails on the first step.
Finally made it,using this tool https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-tab-s/general/tool-samfirm-samsung-firmware-t2988647
