I'm not even a sense guy but I probably will try this. Sweet!
Shifted from my Evo.

Sweet! I jump back to Sense every now and then, especially when there's a new version so can't wait to check this out. Mostly just excited to see some fresh development for our phones! The Speedy is underrated IMO.

Porting from the Desire Z? I had been working on it but stopped.

Seems like a few of us are on that boat too, I started it but it would have been way to much to maintain with Supreme and all, but I def can not wait for this! Been a long time coming

I can't test call functions, as my *new* evo shift, is completely not working now.
The radio itself isn't working, and sprint doesn't want to help me out.

An Evo Shift port of SenseUI 3 would negate the need for me to upgrade in the near future! Hope to see this

Because it's a port from an SDK and it won't ever run right. Not worth really messing with until source is out.

Initially, they did the port and it was crazy slow and plenty of things didn't work. They did get it to run faster and make most things work, but it was no where near as fast as it is now. That's because they built it from source, optimized for devices.

If a dev needs a tester, they'll ask. Otherwise, anyone who flashes a rom is technically considered a tester. Jus' sayin'.

The MT4G does not run gingersense natively. There is a port for it, however.

Well, I have a feeling we'll see something soon. It's more than likely a little frustrating to port. I know that's the case with the data issue on our Incredible 2 rom, we've been at it for days now and still can track it down.
Patience is a virtue.

What's up with our GB release??

So, its been 5 days since our official release of gingerbread but only two roms are using it. Hell I'm even running a Rom built off the shift port. Is it junk or something?? I figured by now, we would have a ton of devs using it. Not trying to raise Hell, just curious. Figured a Rom built off of it would be much more stable and faster than a port from another phone.

Because the official official is coming out on the 9th. The 3rd was the pre release. So the devs are waiting. As already stated, patience.

I'd guess that its because it is only sense 1.0. MikG and Synergy are both solid and stable, and they have sense 2.1. I think that for most people, going back to sense 1.0 isn't acceptable. Especially when the shift ports are as stable as they are. I'm sure someone will work on the OTA rom though.

Thanks. I wasn't aware it was sense 1.0. That's really disappointing. As for the comments about the release date being the 9th, what makes a difference? Is it gonna change in some drastic way? I doubt it.

Nope.
We're loving the recent push of Android 2.3 Gingerbread updates, and the latest group to get a sweet taste of the Gingerbread will be HTC Evo 4G owners.
Sprint announced this morning that it will begin rolling out an over-the-air update on June 6 to deliver the latest software release. As usual, the update will come in batches and users will receive a notification on their smartphones to let them know when the update is ready for download.
However, if you simply can't wait, there will be a manual download option starting June 3, where you can access the update by going to the Menu option on the Evo 4G and then selecting Settings > System updates > HTC software update. You can find more details and instructions on Sprint's Community site.

It's so weird my EVO stays luke warm during charging periods. I always find it odd how some can be totally not hot, and then others will get extremely hot. I would have to say my Pre would always get the hottest on the Touchstone.
Oh, one last thing. Cant Cyanogen use our release to make CM7 more stable?? I think sense roms and AOSP roms both have benefits that I like but its beyond me why Cyanogen cant get GPS to work without having to tickle your sphincter with your big toe everytime you switch roms.

I've kinda begun workin on the BeatMod bliss. Slow goin tho.

Well, its officially official. No OTA ICS for us

I think everyone knew it wasn't going to happen, but now its confirmed.

I'm not a big fan of sense anyway. I likes me AOSP roms.
Sent from my PG06100 using xda premium
I'd like to know what they mean by HTC EVO 4G"+". At first I thought the LTE version but that ships with ICS so doesn't make sense. Anyone care / able to explain?
possibly the europe version not sure.. that's what i thought too..
Evo Design 4G
It's coming to the Evo Design 4G (which has the same radio and camera) next month or the month after, so that's promising for us getting 4G and a good camera on ICS.
The Evo 4G+ is the chinese branding of the Evo 3D. But, if someone got Sense 4 working on the HD2, I think we can get it working on the Shift.
Just because the Shift officially isn't getting ICS, doesn't mean it won't get ported over.
I'm happy with NewSense.

still on newsense, HTC needs to get a pen and paper and take notes from xda at this point.
I wish newSense could get some of the mikrunny(sp?) 3.5 sense. I like being able to reduce the number of screens.
But, newSense is my current go to rom for prl's etc.
