Droid X shuts off randomly - Droid X General

So my friend has the Droid X and said he would sell it to me for $30. I am interested in buying it but he said it randomly shuts off when you try to play songs or get on the internet like FB and email. Does anyone know of these problems and would rooting/deodexing fix it?

An SBF will clear your users right up.
Their are plenty of guides to SBFing, just search around =D

I would SBF w/ newest .605 SBF, then use D3 1 click root method to root. you should be golden!

I had the same issues once SBF was compete..... Worked great....
I was also advised the SD card could be bad or have corrupt file on it. So I backed up all my info to my computer reformatted the card on my X transferred my info back, choosing what I restored back to the card such as media I thought might be corrupt. I truly believe the sbf solved the issue. So if sbf don't work for you that could be an option as well.
Just a thought.....

giving up

i guess im going to call verizon with a bs reason i need a new phone. I have tried to update off nan from when i first rooted downloads but wont install dont understand sbfing and zip files wont load need serious help
What exactly is your phone doing right now? Is it stuck on the boot logo or what?
Its operational, I just flashed back to first nan and reloaded fission cause nothing I did the 928 back to stock ect worked, even tried updating without signing into google, unrooted and all that just frustrated it won't work

Ok, so you are up and running then. The only thing i was going to suggest is flashing SBF to get you back to Stock Android 2.2 and starting the process over again. I had a similar problem and wiped everything clean IOT get what i wanted. SBF'ing is simpler then you think, all you need is 2 files (rsdlite_4.8 and VRZ MB810_2.3.15 sbf). There's lots of articles here on it and I used them when I thought I bricked my phone. I started all over and was able to receive my 2.2.1 update.....finally!!
have you done the ota update? if so use 2.3.32.sbf you can get it by google and search droid x 2.3.32 sbf and its the first result. and dl rdlite 4.8. very easy to flash. several guides on here as stated.
I got it my drivers are up to date but won't find my phone.. And I'm leary all I got to do is that file and update?
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Try running rsdlite as the administrator. (Right click rsdlite)
Now won't find it and I got a toshiba, only a little bit over a year old
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
EDIT - finally got rsd lite to recognize but first attempt failed trying again... pray
EDIT #2 - YEs, rebooted with 2.3.320 now to find 2.3.340 n flash it

[Resolved] dx moto logo boot error

hello all
sorry if this is in the wrong section.
today i decided i didnt like my old rom and tried to install fission using the fission rom manager. in the install screen, i forgot to check the wipe box by mistake.
now my phone WILL NOT go any farther than the white moto logo at the very beginning of the boot animation. Is there anyway I can fix this? i am not that experienced at this stuff, so a good explanation is needed. please help!
i just figured out how to get to (stock) recovery from boot, but even after wiping and retryin a few times, it still wont work....
i have also not upgraded or updated really anything since i got my phone months ago, except root, and deodex, and flyx rom
-matt
You won't lose root, and when you sign back into google all your apps will come back. Did you make a recent backup? If so you can use it from recovery
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
You can even wipe and reinstall if you still wanna try fission since you're in recovery.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
google has all of my tons of apps? sik. but from recovery there is no option to restore/backup nandroid, like bootstrap
the options are reboot, apply sdcard update.zip, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partition
Oh you're in stock recovery... Just wipe and reboot.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
well thanks for helping, but even after i wiped 3 or 4 times trying, it still desnt work. any ideas?
idk if fission requires 2.3.32 or somethin, but i dont think i hav updated anything since i got my phone a long time ago, just thought id add that
Try pulling the battery, should reboot to clockwork recovery when you put battery back in, then you can restore a backup or flash a rom from sd card.

Most roms require .320/.340. You definitely wanna upgrade if you plan on flashing in the future.
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk
well neither of those solve my problem, i am debating on whether on not to take it to verizon, but idk if they will even help me.
if you can get to clockwork recovery you can download a rom by computer and transfer to your sd card, or put your card in another phone to download it. Then flash that rom. Be sure to mount the system before flashing

Hi matt.. soon after getting my X, I got stuck in your situation while flashing a rom. I took it to verizon and after trying to troubleshoot it for a few minutes, they decided to just overnight me another one. I told them that I woke up and the phone was stuck at the M. I didn't mention anything about being rooted or trying to flash a rom.
The phone was also within the one year warranty though. You might want to try this route if all else fails.
Good luck!!

If everything else fails you can sbf. I'll pm you a link for the 2.2315 full sbf, just download rsd lite 4.8 and google how to do a sbf if your not familiar. Then you can do the official ota and be up to date
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
thnx everyone. ive never sbf'ed before, but ill give it a shot. i wish i could get to clockwork, it would make everything so much easier.
i triedflashing a new sbf, but rsdlite gives me the error- could not find initial values in the ini file or somthin... any ideas? its my fisrt time putting on a new sbf.

What version of rsd are you using? you can just sbf .320 full then .340 system only and it will be updated no need to sbf an old file.
i am using the newest rsd i could find. 4.9 right? and it seems as if i need pst_flash.ini according to the sbf installation instructions i found here
edit: hey thnx everyone for the help. i took it to verizon and the techs said it was a "complete software crash". yay i bricked my phone:/... the good news is that verizon is overnighting me a new one.
when i get it i am going to root it. i also want it to be the latest sbf or whatever its called so i can get either fission or gummyjar on there. now i need 2 more questions answered.
1. which option in about is the one that tells me what sbf im on?
2. i kinda need a really good tut on how to flash a new sbf and get it to .340 because i clearly failed miserably at it last time, so anyone have a link or willing to write it up?
It should have.340 on it or be ready to update. You can check by going to settings, about phone, build number. It should say 2.2.340
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
oh build number. thnx bro, so many confusing numbers, why cant there just be simple names? lol
Full SBF isn't out yet for 2.3.340 you will need the SBF for 2.3.320 and then the patches to get to 2.3.340. Keep it handy just in case!
yah i have the .15 sbf right now for safe keeping but i cant find the .32 or the .34 patch, but it isnt urgent since i heard that the new phone that is coming will be preloaded with the newest everything.
can i just use z4root to root my new phone? or do i have to do the doroot thing in adb like i originally did on my first dx?
I also wanted to know if i could use one of the kernels i saw in the fission rom manager with a rom other than fission, such as gummyjar.

Please help me fix my droid x!

I have a droid x that I went into settings on and did the factory reset. When it rebooted, a screen came up that asked for the phone number so it could be activated. Since there is no phone number, because its not active yet and I didn't know how else to get it past this screen, this is how I left it. Until today, when I took it somewhere to have it flashed to cricket. The guy did whatever it was to get outta that screen. Then he showed me that it would go to the lockscreen. When unlocked, the status bar is at the top, but the rest of the screen is black. None of the buttons do anything either. He said that it looked like it had no OS on it. I need a link to dl a stock rom from onto the memory card, using my m860. Then I need to know the button combination that will get me into the bootloader menu on the DX, THEN, seeing as I'm pretty new to the world of Android, I may need the steps that will successfully fix my DX. Thanks for reading. I greatly appreciate any help that you could offer.

I'm having the exact same problem with the DX. Im in for some answers on how to fix this problem.
Google search how to sbf for your system version
I actually figured out a way to fix this on my own. If I held down the home button, I got the option to use voice services, which I used to access "my files" where I installed titanium backup from the sd card. Then used TB to restore all apps and settings. Then viola! Now my problem is I downloaded the gummyjar 2.5 custom rom to my sd card using CW rom manager, but whenever I try to install, instead of rebooting into recovery mode, it just reboots and does nothing special. How can I get this phone to boot into recovery?

Ummm, actually, my phone IS rooted. If you had read my previous post, you should know that. You can't use Titanium Backup on an unrooted phone.

How did you get titanium backup on your sd card? Im literally in the same situation as you man, and cannot figure this out.

Yes, he is obviously rooted lol.
You gotta use koush's droid x bootstrapper app to get into cwm recovery. First hit bootstrap recovery. Then after it says "success" hit reboot recovery.

I already had it on mine. I backed everything up before i did anything. You can get it on your card via another phone or computer, but I don't know if it'll help bc you don't have anything backed up.

I found this and d'led it, but when I try to install it, I get a parsing error. I'm getting so frustrated with this phone, I'm almost ready to just sell it!

NOW, my dx is really acting crazy! I did a factory reset so I could set up my gmail account. Everything was working fine for a while, then the phone just randomly reboots. When it started back up, it had all the settings that were on there before I did the reset on it. Very frustrating. Thinking about just selling it and buying something better, I just don't know which phone I should think about buying!

"Selling it and buying something better" will not help you understand smartphone modification. If you would just be patient and do lots of reading, everything would go smoothly!
I use an iphone 4. I was just trying to fix this droid x. Thanks for the help, I need a linux computer though. Er.

Unroot Droid 2 without USB cable

My USB port died on my phone (no communication, not even able to charge battery).
I need to be able to restore to the stock firmware but have been unable to find an update.zip file for the Droid 2 that would allow me to do that from the SD card.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can do this?
TIA
Search "Droid 2 maderstock", that might do it.
Are you wanting froyo or ginger?
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA Premium App
I need froyo. I don't believe there is an official Droid 2 stock firmware for Gingerbread. I currently have the rooted Gingerbread on my phone -- I am guessing the techs at the VZW store will notice this when I take the phone in for replacement.

All I have found so far with maderstock (maderstcok?) is Droid X related posts. AFAIK, I can't use Droid X firmware on m Droid 2.
In addition, that appears to be an SBF fileset which does me no good.
Tbh released a zip of the froyo sbf, its in their app. I haven't used it but just seen some info on it.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA Premium App
Tbh released their zip online too. I believe its called droid2 triple threat or something like that. Try a Google search. If you can find it, flash it with clockwork and then use z4root to unroot

I'm having this issue too, I'm wondering if there was a solution. The Droid 2 I have, the computer is not detecting the phone at all.. not even to charge. tried 3 cables. My wall charger is the only thing that gives it a charge. I want to get it back to stock settings if i could. How could i do that without a USB cable/connection? I have CWM installed, dont think that will help. Is there a stock .zip i could flash from my SD card? I have a card reader.
I don't know if this will work or not but you could try downloading the sbf and zip it into a file called update.zip.
Worst case scenario is it gives you an error while trying to flash it and you're back to where you started. IMO it's worth a try.
It's possible that could make you bootloop as well....SBFing is the only option I know of.

[Q] Bricked phones droidx please help

So i bricked my friends droid x and its currently stuck in bootloader.
Bootloader
30.04
Err: A5,70,70,00,1F
MEM_MAP Blank
Service Req'd
Battery OK
ok to Program
Transfer mode: USB
Ive been googling around and i havent seen anything. I wanted to know if there is anything.
There is a very easy way to fix it, but before I tell you, I need to know how this happened?
(Eg. installing an OTA update)
Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk 2
Have u tried to sbf?
This is were I would get my proper sbf and use Linux to reflash the phone as stock. Then data reset it. Reboot and start over. You'll get it. If IT's boot up problem occurs after reboot from flash then try different from that one is not working for you or directions not proper
Sent from my DROIDX using xda premium
Like mike said, sbf time. Its pretty easy, just download the Motorola drivers, SBF file, and RSD Lite. Can be done on windows or linux.
I would recommend using the .605 sbf file rather then .621, as .621 can't be easily rooted or sfb'd.
