So it's common knowledge by now that the Rogers Xperia Play cannot be bootloader unlocked due to the sim lock on it. I recently bought one and Sim Unlocked it for use on the Fido network.
Is there anything else stopping me from using the bootloader unlock or am I safe to do it now?

*Edit* sorry i didnt read your OP well, You have to have a factory unlocked device from the start, you cannot just sim unlock a branded device and get an unlock code sorry

You can unlock a phone online pretty easily, not sure if this works for international models but I go to www.fonefunshop.co.uk
That should allow you to unlock it, if not just google phone unlock and your network

No. Also, why exactly did you think this belonged in development, and not, say Questions and Answers?
Hi dudes,
They finally did it, official bootloader unlock process.
Join the party : http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/
Cheers
Please note! It will only be possible to unlock the boot loader for certain releases. You can check if it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your device in the service menu by following the steps below:

I didn't try it. I'm installing ADB driver right now, but Sony gave me unlock key etc. So I thought I was okay, keep u in touch.
EDIT : I don't know why but my computer is unable to detect JDK, so i can't install the SDK. Anyway, according to this serious french website, Sony opens the bootloader for everyone, so maybe someone can try it.
I don;t think this will be possible for not unlockable devices. Let me know, if it works.
Its the same situation as always. All Sony did was refresh the page. You still need to have an unlock-able bootloader to unlock.
You wasted my time now i must destroy you.. LOL!
Confirming this doesn't work when it says you can't unlock your bootloader. It does give you an unlock code though.
by everyone you should mean people with unlockable devices.
no one has cracked a non unlockable sony bootloader since 2011

And by saying unlockable it means you have to buy the device from the Sony Store !! you can't unlock a sony phone if it's not from their store RIP LockedBootloaders

You lose DRM. So back up TA partition prior to unlocking. A few Sony apps will cease to work if you don't back up and you'll lose warranty in case you want to go back to stock.
