Slow market - Galaxy S I9000 General

Who else finds the new market slow and laggy? I prefer the old one. Is there any way to go back to the old one without changing roms?

Market always sucked for me.. takes forever to load, and displays a blank page most of the time... complete garbage.

Go to manage applications, select the market app and select uninstall updates .

I've done that but I still have the same market

in addition to the uninstalling of the updates, you should also to block the market updater (with apps like titanium backup). if not, your market will update itself everytime.

Is there any other way to get the old market back because uninstalling the updates is still the same market.

as I said, you have to block the market updater.

Can't say I've had any problems.
Market just updated again to v.3.1.5 on KG3. No lag for me.

It seems to be worse for me lately, although given that I seem to change ROMs every other day, maybe I just haven't noticed it so much before. But often I too get a blank page when trying to install apps, or otherwise have general unresponsiveness. I'm not sure if it really makes a difference, but perhaps try clearing the data for the market app? However, I've basically resorted to doing push installations from the market at the Android website, seems to be the only reliable way to install apps for me lately

It's slow for loading the pics (which is pretty much the entire thing), but once those load, it's fast and responsive for me. I as well prefer the old one.

For those who can't use the "uninstall updates" to roll back their market version to 2.x.x you can try this:

About app updates...

I did a factory reset on my phone and restored all my apps through titanium backup. However, when I go to downloads in the marketi don't ee my installed apps listed.having said that, do you guys know if updates will be affected? Are they based on the apps installed or the apps listed under downloads in the market? Thanks in advance!

Try market doctor in titanium backup. It can be accessed by pressing the menu button on paid version. Not sure about free version.

I personally use atrackdog for my updates as not all my apps show up in the market due to the same ordeal.
Sent from my Rooted Samsung Vibrant using XDA App
If you redownload it will fix the market link or like mentioned before you can get the donate version of Titanium Backup.
Its no big deal either way.
It shows up now... Though I may have to check the download tab myself for updates which really isn't a big deal. I'll try the suggestions you guys have me if needed in the future again. Thanks : )

Market apps not installing

I had two updatede apps today. They downloaded fine but won't install. Don't know if it's a Market issue or something with my device. Any ideas?
Sent from my rooted DROID2 using XDA App
Ok. New apps will download and install but still have the issue with updating apps.
Sent from my rooted DROID2 using XDA App
Usually an uninstall and then reinstall fixes apps that don't update.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
Tried that. Also cleared Market cache and data. Done several reboots.

Read in another thread that it could be an issue with Google servers. Has anyone heard anything?

It is a google problem, the same thing is happening on the hero Just wait for them to fix is probably the only thing we can do right now
Same thing has been happening to me. I have just been clicking the update and then immediately clicking on the name of the app I just downloaded and watching the download and install meter and it works for me everytime.

The issue was with apps on the memory card. Had to move them to phone memory, update, then move them back to the card. Annoying.

Moving apps back and forth isn't working today for updates.

Could Google have made changes to the Market ahead of Gingerbread?

Possible, maybe why they're having market issues
Not sure it's the Market now. Since I couldn't get Angry Birds to updated I tried getting it at GetJar. That wouldn't install either.
Sent from my rooted DROID2 using XDA App
Ok. Completely lost. ROM Manager successfully updated but Angry Birds still won't.
Sent from my rooted DROID2 using XDA App
I'm having almost the same issues. It started yesterday when I accidentally unistalled the wrong app. When I went on to market to re-download it and found it sat in the ongoing downloads going nowhere along with several others. I cancelled them and started them again one by one. They all downloaded and then failed to install. After that they all appeared in the downloads list but say "FREE" next to them instead of "Installed".
I know that, apart form the first app, all of them are definitely installed. Rebooting the phone made no difference. I also removed the memory card to see if that helped. At that point I managed to install the first app.
I put the SD card back in and the problem returned. Most of the apps I have installed on the SD card only appear in my downloads list intermitently, and I still can't install or update anything from the market with the SD card in the phone. I also am having issues re-installing backups and non-market apk's.
Have I done anything to the phone to make it do this or is this a Google issue? I'm using a rooted T-Mobile UK desire on stock 2.2 with ModInstallLocation set to external.
Thanks for any help or advice.
I also get Free instead of Installed.
Sent from my rooted DROID2 using XDA App
And now new apps won't install.
Sent from my rooted DROID2 using XDA App
Ok. Was able to update apps and install one new app. Still can't get other apps to install. At this point I'm open to crazy possibilities.

It's still the server issues, until Anroid 2.3 is out this will probably be a problem
I hope I don't have to wait for 2.3 given how long it takes Verizon to release an update.

New Android Market?

It's gotten a little.... green.
Welcome to about last week.
... and the market still sucks. No way to sort by popularity or # of downloads, search results usually yield Asian crap unrelated to your query, and its slow.
I love Android, I love tinkering with it, but they really need to fix the market. When I search for "xda developer" I shouldn't get pages upon pages of garbage in a language I can't speak. I should also be able to filter searches by free, paid, rating, downloads, etc.
</rant>
Very much a mess still... Oh well

New market doesn't show my downloaded free apps! Anyone got the same problem? If so, how is it solveable? BTW, if I search for those apps, then they show as installed - but not in my apps. Go figure.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
I don't like the barf green at all. Other than that it seems to work fine so far, I haven't had an stuck in authorizing/installing issues like I had before yet. But I have had it lag a bit several times.
I do wonder if this is partially my SD card failing or something.
I have to admit being an app designer myself. It looks ****ty and amateur. However the usability fells much better.
Google pretty much build solid apps but design sucks. Just imagine I'd they invested in good designers, they would kick ass.

Clear market cache and something from the settings. Restart after clearing cache.
My old market didn't show downloaded free apps any more. What I did was go to preferences - applications. Then to market and erase its data.
After starting market I had the new market! And all installed apps were visible again.
I prefer not to have an option to sort by ratings/download number. If available, people would search for something, sort the list by ratings and download the top one or the second.
Not being able to sort by ratings gives less known applications the opportunity to shine in the market.

New Market Roll Out

Like whoa, looks nice. Explains why my phone was showing the GPS icon this morning even though I had no apps open, lol. Sucks though because it auto updated my Skype from VZW.
Anyone know how I can get that out of My Apps since I use the real Skype app? Its irritating to always see it needed an update even though my other Skype app is up to date.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
If you're rooted you can move the Skype apk to another directory, rename it, or freeze it.
Titanium backup pro (if you are rooted, you should have this app) can freeze, remove, rename bloat.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
I second Titanium Pro if rooted, super simple.
For some reason with the new market I can't buy apparently that cost $$
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Anyone else notice that they can only DL or update 1 app at a time on wifi and 3g. In the past i could have multiple downloads going instead of them being queued. Strange, guess it keeps the market more stable.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Yeah, I noticed that
DROID X running liberty GB V.8
Anyone else notice that no app screenshots appear? I just get an error on the screenshots and the Retry button does nothing.

[Q] Not seeing installed apps in market

After restoring my apps with titanium I don't see any apps at all in the my apps section in the market. Although when I search for an app it says installed. I tried installing another app from the market but it didn't help. Then I tried doing the market doctor thing in titanium but it didn't help either. I then tried to clear market cache which was impossible to do from manage applications (because of a bug that shows 0.0b for cache and clear cache is greyed out) so I cleared cache partition in cwm but that didn't help either! What do I do to see my installed apps again?? Help!!

I been having that same issue. I have 70 apps and only 2 show in the market "my app" section. I been trying to figure out how to fix this as well.

How many of those apps did you pay for?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Wrong section....
Stop using titanium backup and restore only what you can no longer attain from the market .... its always the best idea to fresh install your apps which is a pain but for the sake of cleanliness
Also when you do this you'll end up with a lot less apps because the ones you remember are the ones you Actually use

I had this happen after a fresh install, after a short while all was back to normal on its own. Try a reboot.
Actually I think I cleared cache on gmail which required me to sign in again and I beleive all was normal after resigning into gmail.

Last I heard Roam Control was no longer available through the market.
I've had it happen for both paid and unpaid. Usually I just wait until the app has an update and then it'll appear. I will sometimes use Titanium to resurrect apps that have left the Market, such as ShootMe, Roam Control, etc.

You are correct, it's available at www.roamctrl.com now. Just wanted to let you know in case you were trying to download it somewhere.
i have the same issue with the market after using titanium... no apps show up in my apps, but all of them show up as installed. the only way i have found that works to find updates for them without searching all of them is to use appbrain, and that will find updates for them. except roam control of course, but it lets you update it thru the app now. by the way MrGreg, i love roam control. it was the first app i paid for and was the only app i bought for a long time lol
