I'm owner of an Acer A500 and I'm living in Germany and I'm still waiting for the Android Update to HC 3.2. I own the US-Version of the Tab, because I bought it, when I was in the USA 3 month ago. The Acer-Support told me that the date of the Update is based on the country of origin, so I wanted to ask if the 3.2 Update officially rolled out in the USA, because I didn't find any reliable source on the Internet and the germans didn't get the update till now. Thank you in advance

Finally got it...
I'm on the east coast (North Carolina) and bought my A500 back in early May from Best Buy. I just got the update around 1am this morning (9/27).
Feels smoother overall.
I got my update on Monday (26th Sep). I'm totally stock, never been modded and I've had my A500 since April (on release day in the US, actually).
Nothing yet, I'm an American owner, purchased the tablet at Best Buy in the US, but live in Mexico. No update on the wifi in my house nor on wifi located within the US.
Not yet
I live in South Carolina, nothing yet. I bought my A500 in June from Staples! Was rooted 3.1, but not rooted now.

Weird I brought it in Office Depot (now with regret 'cuz Sam's got it $80 cheaper) and today 4:00 p.m. central time (mexico city/monterrey/gdl time) got 3.2 update... I'm right now in Queretaro de Arteaga, Qro.
Not in California yet.
no updates in AZ yet.
Bought my A500 in May from BB. Rooted 3.1 updated 9/27 OTA to HC 3.2 in North Carolina.
Lost root and can't get it back yet. If you HAVE to have root wait until a fix is ready.

I got the HC 3.2 OTA update to my A500 on Monday, 9/26. I bought my A500 from my local Best Buy from the first batch they received on May 5th. FWIW, I live in northern Virginia.
I was rooted with Acer Recovery installed. Prior to receiving the update I reinstalled the stock Acer recovery and removed root. Install went perfectly on one try and now I'm waiting for someone to come up with a root solution to 3.2.
On my A500 I'm noticing significant operational improvements on 3.2. Boots up faster, shuts down faster, wakes up super fast from sleep mode compared to before. Touch screen responds with less error. For me the update was really worth it.

Yes, but there is still no root for HC 3.2, so if you're OK with no root, you'll be fine.

Please don't use any file manager on the tablet to do this job, I only have bad experiences for it. Download it and transfer to the PC, MAC, Linux, and there extract the update.zip from the archive. Copy it to the external_sd and flash using Power+ Vol-.
Trying to extract a so big file using the tablet is calling trouble. I saw a lot of Android Robot+ exclamation triangles because of this.

Downloaded version: 1.126.03
I did not update yet because i am aafraid to loose root. So if anybody can tell me where my system download the uodate to i can shar the file with you.

did you look on the sdcard for an update.zip ?
Most likely it is on the /cache partition. More importantly, in your log will be the URL, search for ota.

Today I received my Acer A500 in Germany, purchased from Amazon through preorder. It's the first Honeycomb to hit the german mass market.
I have Acer_A500_1.112.01_EMEA_CUS7
The "E" sounds like it stands for "european" or "Europe" to me, however the only localization I can choose in Settings is "german", while on my other Android devices (HTC phones) the ROMs always contain multiple localizations (or even worldwide like *WWE* ones).
I hope this helps, just started digging through the device and going to root it soon.
If anyone needs any further info regarding this version, which seems to be newer than those being OTA'ed to US customers let me know.
FWIW, I have not yet had any random screen turn-ons so maybe they fixed that.
ugh I need this zip my acer is messed up since I tried that chinese update.zip!

Mine bought yesterday in Germany. 1.112.01_EMEA_CUS7
Dear all,
there is nothing in "/chach" and on the SDCard.
I had a look into it with the "Rootexplorer" and commandline, nothing.
I also searched with "Rootexplorer" for "*.zip" but nothing that is coming from me.
Do they maybe use a "hidden" mount?
Where can i find the logs?

Hi,
yes i did reboot, but the system is still telling me that it want to perform the update and not that it want to downlaod something again.
Just brought a Xoom today and after trying to find ways to get 3.1 manually installed, low and behold I reboot and get greeted with a Üpdate found - 3.1
Being a new xoom, i need to charge it for a bit first before it would let me!
So if you have a UK Xoom, reboot and check your updates

that's what I thought it might be - but UK Xooms (Wifi at least) all started at 3.0.1 out the box.
As no one else confirmed this it's probably a US import I guess...?

I think they ship with 3.0.1, don't they? I've bought two (returned the first due to screen problems) and both had 3.0.1 when I first booted them.

just spoke to my friend who works at carphone warehouse, part of the geeksquad and he says its not out in the uk for another 2 weeks (fully) but will be starting to roll out from tomorrow.
Whether this is 100% accurate not too sure

no it isn't a joke and it was a device brought today in PCWorld, so its not an import as suggested. All I did was restore to factory settings, added my gmail account and connected to wifi. It instantly found the update and I'm now on 3.1.
I have no need to lie, I'm a regular poster and although a new to the xoom...I know android.
What was so annoying was I had been trying to root it to get 3.1 but after bootloop I had to get the firmware from Motorola UK, reflash the boot and system.imgs and recovery.img and was back to a full OEM stock xoom. Whether that has anything to do with it, I couldn't tell you.
Anyway hope that. Explains a bit more.
Why does the XDA app FC once you login? Hoped 3.1 would sort that as even with the browser ,XDA lags.

Hmm. They haven't released the UK system image yet, have they? Is it possible you got US firmware and the update came as a result of that?
When you booted up did the language screen say English or UK English?

I created a moto account then it let me download. All I did then was extract each component and flash via ADB... I.e boot boot.Img system system.img recovery recover.img

Nope.....Was sick of waiting. So i decided to install the updates via CWM . Now i have a 39_COM_GEN_1 flexrom. Everything performs really smooth now. No problems so far. I have no idea why tablets with EMEA_GEN_3 are still not getting updates..

I didn't got any update (the only one was pulled out, is here in XDA but is still 3.01).
I was tired to wait so I went for the 3.1 the vache way (1.010.22_COM_GEN1), now I'm COM_GEN1 so I'm gettting USA updates, already got .30 and .38 OTA, very happy user thanks to XDA and it's people/developes/contribuitors.
BTW in LA. (Mexico and Chile) are getting EMEA_GEN3 devices, though were not in the list weird because EMEA = Europe Middle East Africa.... or America?... Oceania (Australia) are getting EMEA too.

Same here no update yet, so installed 3.1 custom, happy with less FC and freezes.
No updates here...will wait till next week...then flash it!
nothing yet here at Mexico, but I was told by an Acer's marketing guy, over facebook, that they pulled out the update due to the Wi-Fi issues, but probably today (Friday) they would release it again with the fix in place.
Still not getting anything here in Finland and it's already 19th.

I have the same build in Switzerland and I too am still waiting on 3.1. I have no serious issues with 3.0.1 so have decided to wait, although my patience is starting to wear out...

By any chances do you have the backup of your stock partitions (disk images)? I'm looking for them to get my a500 back to stock 1.105.01-emea-gen3, my tab was bougth in mexico, from the label in the back of the box model is XA500-10S16m part no. XE.H60PN.004 listed countries: PA MX.

I guess you are hoping that this rom is perfect or that a root method will be found quickly? You won't be able to get off that rom until root/itsmagic is changed for the new bootloader...

I'm in the U.S. midwest and just received Acer update 7.006.03 which I'm downloading. Currently on 3.1 which works great. Don't know whether to update or not.

Send the file so vache and smaury so they could update their roms with it maybe it will fix WiFi droupouts.

Just checked, an update is available in Italy too. It's 350.25MB and it says "version 7.006.01".
Will try to find out the download link for you.

After you Spaniards it the download file itself should be saved on your tab. Then u could upload it to megaupload or another site like that.

Good to know, I plugged mine in the whole night and didn't receive anything in the morning. I'll have to check that when I get back, it's just too heavy to always carry it with my laptop. (And after turn on the laptop, it's not gonna be too useful). I'm at California.

Just a question: I'm not rooted, can I still access the cache partition with a file manager or do I have to use ADB (and how)?

Hi this is my first A500 tab had it a couple months now came with stock 3.2 question is ive seen people saying the latest fw is 3.2.1 should this be for all A500 tabs or is there only a select thew ive tried updating it but allways saying no update avalible device is up to date and tried again all this week with the ICS supposed to be avalible but getting the same message and plus my market has not updated to the PLAY STORE so is there something wrong with the tab does anybody no thanks in advance

I've had mine about a year and its gone thru all the OTA updates with no problem. Have you registered your tab with Acer?? Do you have your Google account registered? I've had mine rooted a couple of times as well, is yours bare bones?

Yes google account reg and so is the tab on acer website and its never been rooted dont no why ive had no update to the 3.2.1 thow its allways saying device is uptodate so i doubt it will even show the ics update if its not showing 3.2.1 takes the piss

Lol anno ye just wanted to see if anybody was still watching the thread updated the update tool nearly amonth back when it came out and also uninstalled and reinstalled still on 3.2 and says device is uptodate so it cannot see the 3.2.1 update so i doubt i will see the ICS update

I'm certainly not a developer, but I can tell that's what Acer has to update the program recommends ICONIA TAB Update Enhancement, which is responsible for finding the firmware update (firmware) that runs Android 4.0.3 and install it. For installation, you must follow to Google Play and install or upgrade the application. Acer company claims that after installing the application will detect your tablet once a new firmware and it will download and then install.
Why do not some of the plates are updated using standard tools, the company does not comment on the Acer.
