And it too seems to be a step backwards. It might have a larger battery, smaller 10" screen, raised typing and it seems there will be a cable or other means to hook it up.
I voided my warranty and your mum.
It makes absolutely no sense. What's the point of of having 3 different docks for 3 different phones. I'm guessing it doesn't cost much to manufacture these things since they have no problem "fragmenting" the design which then leads me to ask, "Why do they cost so much at retail?"
To me, if they want to be successful at marketing these "combos" then they need to price at least one of them correctly, just as Asus did with the Transformer.

The newest dock is supposed to have a cable so that it is compatible with all of the lapdockable phones.
I haven't really gotten a good look at it through the press shots. Have you read anywhere if it will be "secured" onto the dock in any way. If it just "sits" there then it improves in the sense of compatibility but loses in the sense of functionality. I don't know why they couldn't design a dock that could handle different "inserts" considering the one for the Atrix was already removable. It probably also doesn't help that they inverted the ports for the Bionic as opposed to the Atrix. It just doesn't make sense.

With all N1 alternative threads, I'm surprised I haven't seen the synapse phone mentioned more, so I thought I would start a thread
I am quite heavily considering it. Tho I think I wanna wait for series 2, just to make sure custom rom community is there. Being rooted and unlocked bootloader from factory. But I think I should buy one to ensure there is a series 2
So who else is considering one of these synapse phones? To maybe replace their N1

Man that seems like such a good idea....
The first day someone posted about it on gizmodo or something, I went and looked at the prices. I "built" a phone using all of components that would put it above similar phones spec wise, it was going to cost about $900 USD.
Considering I spent my entire summer savings on my Nexus One ($580 + ~$20 for screen protectors, case, etc = $600) It's not necessarily a good or bad value. If I had that type of expendable income, I would totally go for it!
The concept is cool though - make a phone that caters to your needs. I wish an American company would try this! Maybe Google? "Nexus 2 - Have It YOUR WAY!"

hahahahahaa. Somehow, equating a $500+ phone to fast food just doesn't leave a good taste in my mouth. lol
It's an interesting idea - I won't be in the market for a new phone until September 2011 so will keep an eye on them until then. That should be enough time for them to succeed / fail.
I like the idea of a 3 year warranty..
sounds like a good idea, but they are being jackasses, 256mb of ram as the basic mode want more ram? well pay up, which is just plain 2008 or wifi, 3.5mm as options when these are basic necessities for a smartphone.
Seems more like a dream idea than an actual production device

Apple does have to pass the FCC. I'm not sure how they're getting around it being published ... Maybe no one's looking for Apple or they do something crazy like file under a different name, but it has to pass the FCC to be able to sold to the consumer. For testing, they can get an exception, but not if it's going to be sold.

IDK imagine if it's a dual core processor... That's the direction that a lot of the newer superphones are heading. One thing thing my boss and I were rolling around was the possibility of a 3D phone. It'd make sense with the announcement using David Blaine. He is an illusionist anyway. But in doing some surfing we found this vid.... It's on a N1 but if they could make the whole phone like this, it'd be pretty damn sick... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mp2wyY2caI4
only thing i could think of is this:
http://www.dvhardware.net/article.php?thold=4&mode=nocomments&order=0&sid=43613
That e-reader idea sounds like it could be a good one or it could be like the epic or other slider phones but instead of the keyboard it could have a slide out touch screen instead allowing you to have a virtual keyboard, game pad controls, or whatever else you want to use it for. That would be sweet if it was like that little dual screen laptop that came out not too long ago. Bad ass!!! I bet it would suck the battery juice faster than you can say...

You seem very hung up on this point and are using a lack of official statement to conclude that no update will be forthcoming. Has any manufacturer put a time table on updates. HTC announced a few phones today that will be upgraded to ICS, but put no timetable on the process.
I'm willing to be patient and see. At worst, CM9 should be available, and if someone can extract the s-pen apks then that might be good enough.
I think its the fastest/highest resolution phone available at the moment?
Certainly it has the largest screen, but that does not automatically grant it the "best" title. Some would even consider the size a negative.
Its lack of NFC and a notification LED are among its draw backs. The s-pen is awesome and the fact that its optional makes it only a positive.
In the end it all comes down to preference. That said, it would certainly get my vote for best phone ever.

I'm not really sure if the battery is replacable or not. It's not as easy as with other smartphones, but it is possible, right? You just have to careful to not break some wire.
Because otherwise, what could I do if the battery would die? If it wasn't replacable, I mean. I've read somewhere that the battery inside the N4 has 800 "cycles".
Uh, well, like ANY OTHER PHONE with a "non-removable" battery you have two options:
1) Buy a battery, crack it open, and replace it.
2) Send it to the manufacturer and have them replace it.
If under warranty then have it fixed. If not under warranty the either take it to a repair shop and have it fixed or fix it yourself by replacing the battery or buy a new phone. There is a video that is very good on disassembly of the nexus 4....

It's still not nearly as popular as the GSIII or the One X for example, even if LG would've produced more. Everyone looked weird at my Nexus S, as they would at a Nexus 4. They just don't know it exists.
It is a VERY popular phone at a community like XDA. But the "normal/mainstream" customer doesn't know about it, and will never buy one even though the price is ridiculously low.

Who cares? Quality > Quantity. I don't idealistically want a phone that everybody else has. It's popular within the developer community, that's what matters to me. They wouldn't of thought your Nexus 4 is a Nexus S because Nexus S sold less than Nexus 4 most likely.
Why wouldn't they buy the phone? T Mobile is praising subsidized devices on their carrier and will be offering marketing within their stores.
One X is also not a popular phone with HTC on the decline.

Misunderstanding what. You're confusing me. You're pointing that the Nexus device isn't a popular device compared to a S3, iPhone. I agreed with you, PERSONALLY in my experience, I don't want a phone everybody in their world has or know what it is.
Being a popular phone is very subjective anyway. In the developer community or android hard fan base, it's a popular phone. The average user only knows of Droids, Galaxy S#, iPhones, Blackberry.

That last sentence, that's what I meant. I wasn't fighting with you, or even disagreeing. Just forget it.
