MIUI - XPERIA X8 General

Only to say that MIUI are going to do a Rom for a New Device ,well them devices, so they asked a question in facebook.
If you want a MIUI ROM in x8 just vote!!

Pointless. MIUI uses flash player, which is not working on ARMv6 devices, and I I'm not sure if flash lite would be able to deal with it, besides it would have to be ported into that specific ROM.

and this thread belongs in DEV forum because.....?

Yes but if the MIUI devs are going to make it for our phone then obviously they would be able to make it properly for our phone.
+1 put it on general thread

General forum.... MIUI need ARMv7 for stable work, some devs working on it

I have post here

This must be a good post. He/she post it to development because development thread had many visit. Post thiis at Development AND tag it as notification. Good job man!

Isn't it official that ARM6 will get flash? In a few weeks, Flash 11 will be out, big changes it will come with support for ARM6.

I'll believe it when I see it. Besides, I cannot imagine a smooth flashed ROM on 170 MB of RAM

yes of course i like it too.. with i phone interface haha...
Maybe it should work at our phone, maybe the name is "MIUI Lite" haha...

It runs good on X10 because of its CPU (ARMv7) compared to our ARMv6. That diference makes porting prety hard, near impossible.

erm MIUI is developed by chinese developers and we cannot make our own as they dint release their sources.
MIUI is designed for armv7 devices and yours is armv6 so even if they do release their sources it would be very very hard

Actually no it wouldn't, because if they released their sources, we can modify it to work with armv6 by using v6 source, whereas it isn't that simple modifying already compiled binaries.
Yes, but, it will be great if we create ROM just for GT540, MIUI style and with new kernel..
That would be great!

But we can't, this has been mentioned before, use the search box. Unless MIUI Developers release the source, we cannot build this ROM. Also, if you are so desperate for a ROM, then try it yourself, don't pester developers just because you won't try.

Hehe, couldn't agree more... there are plenty of perfectly fine ROMS already out, and developers are working hard on those.
You need to find a developer that wants this ROM as bad as you... as unfortanatly, no one else has the time to specalise in this for you. (Or just learn to do it ya'self, which is kinda what motivated all the current developers)

Before saying about these roms, wait until they are final.
For now i think the SEMC one is the best, BUT i think a full working miui 4.0.3 could be such a win for us.

The rom is CM9.0 - FXP 108 - FreeXperia Project
Would someone take that to our x8?

I hope Paul will finalize the 4th version of the firmware for 8x. I'd like to see our phone number in one of the new guises =) But I think for the 4th version need a new kernel. The old has already exhausted its reserves.
I cant stay with one rom but cm7-2 is the most i use. Love my phone. LONG LIVE THE X8.
I just flashed semc debrand engine. I also installed cosmic flow live wallpaper and it works. So I will stay with this ROM

[Project] Porting MIUI

Since the xperia x10 mini, galaxy mini and various other ARMV6 ldpi/mdpi devices are all getting MIUI v4 ports, whats the possibility of getting a port to the wildfire. This thread is just to raise awareness of it, and trying to get some developers involved. I may attempt to get a basic port from the galaxy fit or x10 mini working by using the basic tools in the rom kitchen. But thats the best I can do.
xperia x10 mini rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1511495
Oh god I hope this goes through and we get a working MIUI ROM.
I've been loving how MIUI looks ever since I first saw it
This sounds nice. Hopefully someone might look into it.
Sounds good to me, I was reading a thread about how they ported it for an mdpi device earlier today, it still sounds like a lot of work resizing but I think it can be done eventually.
I just read that the Armv6 version probably won't have themes.
I'm afraid it's unlikely themes will ever work because of the proprietary binary which MIUI uses to apply themes. It compiled for arm7 only.

If you're going to use that tutorial, use the X10 Mini/Mini Pro version of MIUI most MIUI apps are resized to QVGA. We may have the possiblity of having themes in the future, since more apps are going to be opensourced. Anyway, thanks for providing the link to the tutorial. I'll try it out later.
UPDATE: Turns out its perfectly possible to port between two LDPI devices, I'll get a copy of Ubuntu setup tonight or tommorow, to start editing and compiling. I'll post any updates here.
What about getting help from the Galaxy Mini version?
It has a 3.14" 240x320 display (really close to ours)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1516340
Please let someone take a look at it.
I guess it's a lot of resizing and the like, but I bet we can have it on our htc wildfire

I'll PM the creators of both the X10 Mini and Galaxy Mini rom in a bit. If anyone can, try the tutorial that nejc121 posted. I've had trouble getting the final zip to flash. But maybe I'm doing something wrong..
UPDATE: Think I figured out the issues with my zip. Recompiling and testing in a minuite.
UPDATE II: Didn't work, can someone else try out the tutorial and see what kind of end results they get?
UPDATE III: Final update of tonight. Returned the update-script back to default ICS. leaving out the offending code from the MIUI tutorial.

MIUI v4 for wildfire: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1517856
What about porting from a wildfire s miui? i donno if our device and that one are similar, but porting from a fully functional Rom is pretty easier than a ics Rom. They still have big problems with calls and other things... so I'll today begin, if possible the porting.

ok... but basically my idea is to port a fuly-working rom to the wildy, instead of a cm-dependant one. If a cm7 based miui exists and it's compatible with wildfire, that would be great, it won't be as cool as ICS but it would be a starting point even for other developers, who can still work with android 2.x if they want to;
that's something i'll try to do, i definetly want miui on wildfire, not necessarly ICS miui.

I think its possible, yes, but you need to find a dev who wants to port it across. That might be the difficult bit...
Seems we need an ASOP rom, or CM ROM running on the tablet, then replace some files... well seems easy to say but dunno about when need to be done...
I will not risk my tablet right now, I need it for work
Hell im game to test, a different rom wouldnt be bad, variety is what the a500 needs...

Miui is much more than an iPad. Yes an miui port is possible and "may" being worked on right now. I ported the miui rom to the pyramid for many months and have considered doing one on the A500. But miui is heavily cyanogenmod based. Once cm9 is established on the tablet there are many possibilities for roms. But getting there is the hard part and I am greatful for the people who are working on cm9 for the iconia.

I already tried porting it using this guide. Unfortunately it didn't boot - reached MIUI boot screen and that was all. I used Tegraowners ROM 144 as a base(AOSP based) and MIUI 2.4.6 ROM - tried from several deviced with no luck. I see arrom1983 managed to boot MIUI on Galaxy 10.1" tab - see this thread....but there are no updates on the progress apparently.

robkoehler, sorry my friend but this is completely wrong. Please don't start another flame war about MIUI being the same as iStuff. You can replace default MIUI launcher and still have MIUI functionality that is way better than Android's default . Other that that, there are plethora of features I could count if you want me to.
