My Wi-Fi activation takes up to a minute to get connexion. What can I do to fix this?
Cm7 rom?

Once I click the WiFi Widget to turn wifi on...it takes less than 5 secs for the wifi icon to show up and less than 5 more secs to have a connection. I've had the same reaction time with the stock setup, Alien, and now Fruitcake.

Has anyone figured out a way to keep the screen on when maps is on? I know Sprint Nav will stay on, but I would like to keep maps on without the screen timing out. You would think Google would have a feature that when plugged in would allow certain apps to keep the screen on.
I know it sounds like I'm plugging the hell out of it lately (it has so many features), but widgetsoid had a toggle to keep screen on

Hmmmmm....
Did you think to turn of the WIFI?
I know it is really a high-tech solution but I think it might work.....
Yeah I turned off the wifi but it turns on by itself and connects to.my AP

hm. weird. if it's off it should stay off. I don't see any auto-connect option.
is this the same as yours?
Yeah its mostly the same except I don't have the Auto Connect option

The only thing I can think of is that this may have something to do with setting WiFi to never sleep.
My dad has the Defy and I have tries to put a toggle on that toggles data on and off but even when he switches it off it automatically turns back on later on and starts using his data.
So do anyone know a better way to data off and on?
Thanks

You can use APNdroid
You can use APNdroid, it is very good!!!
if youre using stock froyo (2.2.1) theres already an option built in the settings.
I think it was under settings, then Data administrator and then Data delivery ? (i have it in spanish so sorry..dont know the REAL names...)
That should do the trick and don't need anything else.
Of course....APN doas the trick xD
disable data on the settings then reboot it, should work
Hello All,
I will be out of the country in the near future. The place will have free WiFi. How do I ensure I won't be billed for international data but still use the WiFi?
Thanks.

but if you need gps it may not work in airplane mode.
just tried this om cm9 and while in airplane mode it will not lock any sats for me. but if i take it out of airplane mode while it's trying to get a lock it will get one as soon as it finds a tower and keep it after i turn airplane mode back on. something to think about if you were going to get around with google maps in a foreign land. and i had my home wifi on for this quick, unscientific test.
on the plus side this should get you excellent battery life with the radios off.
Heeey, I just tried it. I got GPS with Airplane mode. GPS Status showed them all as normal.
Have a good trip!
Correct me if I am wrong, but if you are in a country where you do not have Sprint affiliates, you shouldn't be charged anything for using your phone for merely the wireless or the GPS functionality. Sprint has to know you will be using the phone internationally, and only then, will your connection be activated in that new country - not automatically. Isn't this true?

With stock ROM rooted the WiFi will just cut off but the icon will say it has full connection. Will this be solved if I changed the ROM? It only cuts off for the browser.

Maybe you would want to check the wifi sleep policy again.
See if it is getting off with screen lock.

depends,
the scope of the issue is wide,
better just get the wifi drivers,
search in the development section for the drivers
OK thanks
