I hoped I never had to write a post like this.
I installed MS2Ginger via CWM 3.1 (the one on the bootmenu provided on this forum) and then tried to reboot without flashing fixedsbf ( i was coming from Blurless Gingerbread ) .
I had...
Red Moto Logo ---> Black Screen for a minute or so.
I pulled the battery off and then put it back again after a couple of seconds, and now my phone won't turn on and won't recharge. When plugged in power socket the charging light doesn't turn on, while when plugged on PC USB port it turns on. But if I unplug it from the computer and then plug it again, the charging light doesn't turn on until I pull out the battery and then put it in again.
Did anyone experience such a thing?
And your phones battery was fully charged before you tried to install custom ROM?

The only way to flash an SBF is getting to bootloader mode, so it can be recognized by RSD Lite (or sbf_flash on mac/linux).

This is my bad day . My Droid 2 Global got stuck on M logo when I tried to root and install the new ROM . I have tried alot of SBF from the Droid 2 but it's seem nothing fix my phone. So, anyone can help me with the new SBF for Droid 2 Global
Which SBF did you use? I'm not aware of one being released for the D2G and using the one for the D2 will certainly screw up your phone.
There isn't a SBF for the D2G yet. You should have waited for it before trying anything like this.
If the sbf did work after you sbf you need to:
1. Pull your Battery.
2. Replace battery and power on while holding down the X key.
3. Wait for the android triangle to load.
4. Press the Search key (the magnifying glass)
5. Use down arrow and navigate to wipe data/factory reset and press OK.
6. Reboot phone.
If that doesn't work than you might be SOL.
If you get the M logo and you have a backup. (always try and restore a backup before you SBF)
Pull your battery and place it back in after 5 seconds or so (we just want the phone completely off)
(while completely off) Plug your phone into the wall charger.
Then turn your phone on. If you get the charging screen press power again.
now you should be in clockwork recovery so you can do a restore if you made a backup.
I've used all the sbf that I searched in this forum but it wasn't work. I think there are a different SBF for Droid 2 Global.

I assumed so but I also assumed that if the boot loader hasn't changed one could /theoretically/ flash the 2.3.2 sbf and /possibly/ be okay. I wouldn't recommend any D2 G users to flash ROMs or anything until the SBF specifically for the D2 Global is released. I would suggest rooting and getting a backup made if the user want's to eventually flash ROMs.

Did you make a backup with koush's bootstrapped clockwork recovery? if so you should try and restore it. otherwise you might be out of luck until the sbf drops.
Maybe I'm out of Luck . But is there a chance to update the new ROM using the stock Recovery ? . I saw there are the option apply: update.zip
It will only work if you have the rom signed with moto's keys or it won't get through. That's why we use koush's bootstrapped clockwork. Because it doesn't have signature verification. Well it does but we can toggle it off.

I have the same problem with the droid 2, except i mistakenly flashed with the droid 2 global without really thinking about it. I'm stuck at the M logo, and i've tried doing all of the above but i cannot get into clockwork recovery. Any suggestions? if I bricked my phone, how would i go about getting it fixed from verizon?
I remembered that i install the stock ROm deodexed for Droid 2 Global . But why my phone bricked ? Is that the problem from my phone?

You should sbf your droid 2 with the 2.3.2 sbf. Search in droid 2 android development section. There are two ways to flash it. One in windows the other in linux. I made a tool so people can use any computer to flash in linux. Search in the android development section for the droid 2 and it's there if you need it. I recommend reading and reading and reading then flash it. You'll be wiser and you'll know each step before you do it. It's not difficult and if you are going to flash ROMs you need to need to know how to sbf.
If your phone boots it's not bricked. And read every post here before trying to return it to verizon. If you have the desire to flash ROMs to your phone you can to the research to fix any mishaps. If after you read every post and you still have no idea or the methods applied haven't worked then you have my permission to take it back to verizon with the excuse that the update messed up your phone. Thanks and happy fixing!

Yes, apologies for taking over a thread with my question, however to newk8600, I didn't know that holding the up key on the keyboard booted into the bootloader! I managed to sbf from there since RSDLite read the phone then.
Apologies for any confusion, and thank you again for the help.
Today my friend, who also has a Defy, called me up and told me that he bricked his Defy (motherboard failure according to him) because he flashed *sbf files about 4-5 times.
Is this true that this happens if we flash sbf files too many times? Because I've flashed sbf files about 6-7 times since I purchased my Defy (because it was soft bricked)
Please answer.....

He said that he had tried ROMs like MS2GINGER but I don't know whether he flashed the 2.3.6 sbf. I never flashed any of the Gingerbread sbf files. And even I have flashed Nordic repeatedly because of soft bricking as mentioned above. Just wondering whether doing this again and again would take me into the same situation as him....
Flashing over and over again won't do any harm (using the phone causes more stress to the flash memory cells than flashing it).
The worst things that can happen are:
- you are flashing a non-downgradeable image (but then your phone would still work)
- you are running out of battery while writing the image: In this case your phone might not be able to charge the battery again. but even then: you can charge the battery using the mc-guyver method. (cut off the plug of some usb cable and attach it directly to the battery)
hi can anyone help,
i bought a defy sometime ago and the person who sold it flashed the 2.3.4 stock rom from here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127085
so of corse the defy is green lense so there for camera doesnt work.
is there anyway that i can 1: get camera to work and/or 2: downgrade
ive searched and only found some chinese rom but it has dead links and im a little rusty with nandroid backups etc
can someone guied me
p.s im on cm7.1 if that make any diffrance
thanks folks.
I think 2.3.4 can be downgradable to froyo, am i not right?
I have a green lens defy with stock 2.2 froyo, and for cm7, cm9 and miui, the camera works, so I guess that who sold it to you have it upgraded, don't know why, :S
try flashing froyo, then flash cm7 over it
I'm not sure if will work, but why don't give it a shot
tell me if it worked
Good Luck
No he done full gb 2.3.4 and it says its not downgradeable. I've tryed to flash other sbf's but none work.

it was true back then that it wasn't downgradable. but lucky you the situation has changed. you can now downgrade your phone and install custom roms. there are 2 methods available since your rom is only on cg or bl 5:
1) read the first post of this thread completely as all newbies should:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1216982
and in there under common problems/questions you'll find your first solution. this method would preserve your phone to bl5 but it's a bit longer than method 2.
2) method 2 will upgrade your phone to bl6 but it's much easier. so if you don't have any problem with that, use this method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1486731&highlight=bl6
That's great thanks.

Try flashing the full SBF from here - I know the link works because I downloaded it myself a couple of hours ago. It's also rootable using the Droid 3 easy rooting tool linked in that thread. It says in the thread that the green lens camera can be got to work using Greenbreadmod.
If that SBF + Greenbreadmod gets your phone working again then I'd try MS2Ginger or CM7 on it (if CM7 will support the green lens camera, not sure). Take a nandroid backup first - install 2ndInitDefy to get CWM on the phone. MS2Ginger is based on Gingerbread but with some nice enhancements eg 1% battery step, power menu, 720p playback, panorama mode etc. I had the 2.1 version of MS2Ginger on my green-lensed Defy for many months and it was rock solid. I've not tried CM7 but lots of people like it.
ok im downloading it now
so just flash this with rsdlite is that correct.
i have downloaded greenbread 1.1 what do i do with that? do i unzip it on pc or move whole file to clockworkmod backup?

From the Greenbreadmod thread:
Installation:
Install official GingerBread via nandroid + fixed sbf
Install 2nd-init recovery 0.6.1 or later
Install zip from recovery
RTFM
lol i have no idea what any of that means RTFM? haha
im new at all this
i cant flash that rom anyway it gets to creating img or something like that then says executing then says fail???
ive got all moto drivers installed and running as administrator?
just want a stock rom that camera works.
fed up of cm7 keeps crashing.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1140839, by walter79, ur cam will work i and i used this rom its 100% work on my red lense defy plus
1) Is your phone actually working at the moment ie can you power it up and get to the home screen?
2) When flashing, do you power it up in to the bootloader? This involves holding vol+ as you press and release the power button.
I'm just wondering whether you might have too little battery to flash. The phone doesn't charge the battery in bootloader mode so repeated flashing can flatten the battery. I believe that bootloader mode will display something like "Battery low - cannot program" if that is the case. Possible fixes are: (1) The McGyver hack, (2) charge the battery in a cheap external charger eg like this one.

I've been looking around and found nothing about this... So, a little back story...
Yesterday I updated to CM9, and it all was good. Trying to tune it, I elevated the number of touchscreen points (dont remember well the name of that option) to 4... but then I was like "why I need that much? Let's reduce to default" and screen no longer recognices touch keypress, not even the softkeys are working... Thought it was a CM9 bug and restored to original stock rom and bug still present...
Anybody has faced this? USB Debugging is disabled, so no way to extract a logcat (sorry for that)...
