I have CM7 installed And working fine, except for the internal SD card seems to be permanently unmounted for some apps, but not others. Poweramp can find music fine, but galleries and video players find nothing, and rom manager says its unmounted. Also I can't download anything because of this. I know CM7 has loads of different settings options, but I can't find any that would explain this. Any help would he great!

Go to Settings > CM7 Settings > Application settings > Check "Use Internal Storage", and then reboot.

well, actually im quite experienced in flashing, bricking and restoring back ;P my prophet, but.. i really blank about "inside" things..
usually in the camera save to, i used to have 3 options, which were main memory, network (i don't know where it came from but i hope its the ext rom which detected as a storage too) and storage card, but now the storage card option is gone.. so now i only could save camera pictures to main memory, and have to move them manually to storage card..
anybody know how to restore it back or there's a tweak on reg or sumthin?
i've restart, soft reset, plug out and back in the storage card.. but i dont want to hard reset..
its not the storage card, my sd is fine on other ppc or card reader.. the option still gone even i put a brand new sd card..
Try disable Bluetooth Explorer if you got that activated. Options > Connections > Bluetooth > FTP
thx 4 answer, but i dont have it in this rom.. only bluetooth and no FTP thingy.. i seldom activate bluetooth btw.. any other suggestion?
you have to disable network folder at : Settings > Connection > Network Plugin > and uncheck "Enable Network Foler"
That's it!!
because i have same problem too..
so is there a way to read the files i have added after i connect my phone to pc as "hard disk " to transfer files ?
every time i add a file, i have to restart the andriod "phone" for it to see it.
if i try to remove the SD card while andriod is running. it will hang and i will have to restart.
is there some other things that can be done? like. media scanner for example.. will it work ?
thanks
Have you tried unmounting and then mounting the SD card? I don't know if it works or not, but it's worth a try.

WHAT!?!?
Which build you are using?!?
In my build all i have to do is clicking "enable usb storage card" when plugging in pc! Then "safe remove" on pc, click "disable usb storage card" and everything works again!!!
Weird!

Use drop box app. Host your own files online and download them directly to your phone.
bangsters 1.5 supports usb mass storage
I'm only guessing, but it sounds to me that he's talking about apps like music and the gallery. They need to be refreshed somehow when you copy new images or audio files, and I've tried and can confirm that unmounting and then mounting does this.

Use swiftp to transfer files to your sdcard then you will be able to access them without reboot.

I am using Droid Explorer to place all the files on my phone.
Works like a charm No reboot needed, only the unmount-mount SDcard option afterwards.
Have a look at this - it may be just what you're looking for ...

(That's a market link - you'll need to open it on your phone, or search for SD Reload on the market)

Had the same problem, now I'm using an FTP server to make a connection to my phone and I'm transferring my files with Filezilla.
See ftp server in app market or on appbrain.com
Can deleting all the information on the sdcard effect the phone itself?
No, but you will lose some apps if they are on the sd card. You can check by going to settings, applications, manage applications. Check the on sd card tab. If there are, you can click each one and move to phone/internal storage. Also, some apps download extra content to sd card; usually games. I believe these apps will recognize the missing data and ask to redownload.

what if there listed but not checked under the "On sd card" tab, does that mean it running off the sd still?
You will lose alot of information but sometimes it might fix issues you are having with your phone. Just make sure you back up.
Quick question, what are the 2 or 3 default folders in the SD card for.the rom to function? Android secure and what else? Thanks in advance.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
You could delete them all and the ROM would function. Whatever is required will just get recreated if it is missing.
.android_secure is where Apps go when you use Google's "Move to SD" feature. Sometimes you will see LOST_DIR or similar (filesystem stuff) and picture and maps caches tend to go in Android folder. Sense roms like having a "Rosie_scroll" folder that seems to always be empty. But enough with the technical stuff..
Basically, as I said, you could insert a blank SDcard and the system will work just fine (because it will create the .android_secure and such as needed).
Well i deleted everything and yes the rom still functions, i put what i wanted back on the sd card, exited mass storage mode and now my phone doesnt see my sd card.

[Q] The Play Store gives me this error message when I try to install certain apps: "Couldn't install on USB storage or SD card." What can I do to install those apps?
[A] *After receiving the error message*
1) Go to your phone's Settings > Storage
2) Unmount SD Card (your external SD card)
3) Download/install from the app(s) from the Store again
4) Go back to Settings > Storage - then Mount your SD card again (or reboot)
5) Enjoy the app(s)
Background: I thought I was encountering some compatibility issue because the Note 3 was newly released and I had just acquired mine. I had also received the error when trying to update one of my apps. It is still not clear to me why it occurred and this is the only solution that fixed it for me.
Could be SD going bad, check LOST.DIR for any files, if anything there, it is already getting corrupted.
Checked, nothing in LOST.DIR

Sounds to me like a ROM problem. I started experiencing that problem today when I install NV ROM for M8
The play store is an annoying piece of ******. I can install everything except Zooper Pro (RPC:S-3 error). Thus forcing me to use a cracked apk, simply because nothing else works!
Anyway, as for your errors. Tried deleting the data and cache on the Play Store and Google Play Services? Do you have enough space available?
sollution 2
here is some more info
it seems like it should be easy to fix fo google :/

I've tried unmounted sd card, reinstall play store, flash the older version gapps, reboot the device, clear cache

Restarting the device works for me

Same problem. I've noticed the problem isn't the sd card, because i've changed it and could not install certain apps anyway.
I guess it's a rom problem. I'm on Blekota S5 v10 now, that's causing this issue. Yesterday I've flashed my rom stock backup, and every thing was ok.
Although if you are rooted first
1.)Unmount SD Card
2.)Download Link2SD it will requires root get it on play store for free
3.)Download your favorite app that get some errors
4.)Mount SD Card
5.)Put the app from external to SD using Link2SD
6.)Profit
Works
Thanks for the answer!
Just Backup and Format

Hi There... The problem with Unmounting and Mounting the SD Card is that since I have my music saved on my SD Card I have to choose a New Ringtone and all my Alarm tones all over again each time I do that... So I backed up all my Music to my Phones Memory, Formatted the SD Card and Voila... Now I don't have to keep Unmounting and Mounting the SD Card every time I want to update an App... more so I only had to go through the hassle of choosing the music once after the format... Hope this helps
