How is your stock 3.2 Running - Acer Iconia A500

If you are running the stock ota 3.2 and would care to tell us how it is running.

I'm extremely pleased with it. I've had no appreciable problems whatsoever. Wifi is good, stability great, and battery life is really good. I go more than a day without charging.

Performance Improvements with 2.3.4

Hey guys,
Do you notice the performance improvements with the new 2.3.4 update? I have noticed that the screen responsiveness has improved significantly, especially in the browser and in the official Facebook app.
I agree, the screen sensitivity is better while using the browser and when typing on the keyboard. So far that is the only difference that I've noticed. I'll give navigation a whirl this afternoon.
I have just recently updated so have not notice much difference. Maybe I will keep looking at it longer to see.
Don't see any difference here.
Initially I thought I observed some perceptible improvement in scrolling smoothness and touch responsiveness, but at this point I can't honestly say it's not just placebo effect from the update.
For the Nexus One user, the only real "improvement" 'till now is to lose root. I've just received GRJ22 OTA a couple of minutes ago, and i'm going to "hope" that, at least, battery life will show some kind of improvement.
Of course, i also have faith on XDA's guys to find a new way to have root on this one
Battery life has increased by atleast 15% + more responsive.

Battery life still sucks.
There is already a root for it. Just flash the su zip file. Not hard.
My battery battery life is much better now. Currently at 36% after 24 hours. Normally I got around 18 hours.
But maybe my usage has been somewhat lighter because I have been busy.
Stock 2.3.4 and no root.

I never had the battery issue on 2.3.3 and Gingerbread actually brought me a with MUCH better battery life than Froyo, no further change in that on 2.3.4.
After a day on 2.3.4, it seems a tad bit faster than 2.3.3 and the BACK button seems to be working properly again. Previously, it took multiple taps in order for the phone to register a click and I'm pleased it's finally fixed in 2.3.4. Also, the 'black screen' bug seems to have gone but I need further testing. I'm pretty pleased with the update so far.
mine is running definitely smoother - before it would stutter after a few hours of use - I would have to reboot the phone to clear up the glitches
so far so good - I'm happy!
Same here, running stock 2.3.4, the update has fixed the black screen glitches and the 2 second delay issues. I feel its quite stable now, and the battery life has also improved marginally.

Battery life has improved so much since I flashed 2.3.4! Used it as normal today and I still have 50% left

7 hours 5 minutes on battery, down to 64%. Minimal use.
At least I should beat my 11 hour time yesterday. Something was boned up yesterday, today it is seeming better.
Really appreciate the feedback regarding battery life. Can anyone put up a bit more info with the N1 setting (wifi sleep policy, screen auto brightness, etc).
I'm still sceptical with this battery improvement after being 'traumatised' with bad battery life upon upgrading to 2.3.3 compared to 2.2.2. 2.3.3 can't even last 1/2 day compared to easily getting full day with Froyo 2.2.2 with my usage pattern.
I'll stick to 2.2.2 at the moment until clearer information available. I'm not going through the hassle of downgrading from Gingerbread to Froyo again.
Thank

Sure about that?
So far i have only read, that this bug still exists. Also the issue report on the google mobile page hasn't been marked as solved by a google employee.
btw, I'm still on 2.3.3
Battery life is at 50% after exactly 9hrs with phone idling most of the day except for maybe a combined 20-30mins of web browsing earlier. Doesn't seem great, maybe better than before? I've had Wifi Sleep on Never, although I have been at work with no Wifi to connect to.
Feels smoother and the battery life has improved some so far. But, I did not have battery issues with 2.3.3

50% for 9h of mostly idling? Not that good compared to Froyo 2.2.2. My N1 running Froyo 2.2.2 only consume 20%-25% for 9h.

And especially so when HTC's claimed "standby time" on 3G is "250 hours"
LOL
They must make completely insane ridiculous numbers up I think.

Felt like sharing my experience..

Anyone running stock ec05 with the geno kernel? Decided to do this a few days ago. Despite the rfs, overclocked at 1.4 stable is giving me the best experience I've had yet. Also ran titanium backup and froze every piece of crap I found. My battery is amazing. Just yesterday I went 26 hours. For stock that's pwnage. Everything is extremely stable. Xda is the number one force closing app for me and it hasn't happened once. Everything is speedy and snappy even with rfs. And I dunno if its me but custom epic roms seem to screw up gpu drivers somewhere. Dungeon defenders is running better than it ever has at a smooth 40 plus fps. Scoring a 1300 in quadrant, 2700 in antutu. Here's my smartbench 2010 for kicks ) cheers lentlemen.
also found this weird battery snapshot I took of ef02 or something last week.

Roms aren't the answer for everyone. I kicked around going stock myself but the grip of the rom is too strong. I have been running the Urban Fury series' from CompKid and SRF 1.x.x. Haven't ran 1.2 yet and I doubt I will. Just doesn't have anything over 1.1 that I would want.
1.4 OC is very nice.
I have a similar experience with the GPU. Even though custom roms would give me better bench scores and overall snappiness, I'd get noticable lag and choppiness in some games. I've been back to stock for a while now and it pretty much runs every app smoothly. The Gingerbread leak was silky smooth and snappy, but after a while random reboots made me go back to Froyo. Between the game lag and clicks/pops I'd get in music playback with voodoo, stock has been the best for me even though there are several things I liked about a couple of the customs. I may have to give genocide another go around by itself rather than paired with a rom to see how it goes.
Ever since I nailed down what was draining my phone over wifi, I get excellent battery on stock. Went 30+ hours the other day with about an hour or so of display time on, and still had 25% left before I plugged it in. Most of the battery issues with this phone (from my experience anyway) is simply the phone not going into deep sleep properly, whether it's an app or in my case, something on wifi network. I have things like LP Facebook widget and weather syncs set to 3 hours.

What was draining your mini nuke over wifi?? Also app freezing is the ****. All drm and **** that drains my battery while in sleep mode is gone. Going to power cycle the battery and then give it a test run with the [email protected] 1.3 and 1.4 are awesome but require overvolting. Trying to go for amazing battery life here. Also running the phone @600MHz Compared to 1GHz you barely notice a difference.

[Battery] Froyo vs. GB vs. ICS

I've always seen people saying that GB/ICS has better battery life than Froyo and I don't understand why. I have had the Vibrant for 2 years, I've flashed almost all popular roms but I don't know how people get better battery on GB/ICS.
To tell the truth, I haven't had much experiences with GB. It was just bad. Performance ain't much better than Froyo (perhaps worse), stability is nowhere close since there's no official release (source) for the Vibrant, battery is just worse than Froyo. GB didn't last more than a week on my phone and I never looked back. Even Sombionix himself said that GB overall is just a worse ROM compared to Froyo.
ICS roms have decent battery life but again, they aren't better than Froyo at all. I really liked using ICS, it has a plethora of features, performance improvements over Froyo and the interface are just sick but the poorer battery life is keeping me away from ICS roms. I have tried ICZen, Slim, Passion, RemICS and CM9, none of their battery life beats Froyo really. I usually charge the phone fully before going to sleep and when I wake up, battery will drop to 91~92% with nothing on, no 3G/Wifi/apps at all. Froyo would have had much crazier idle battery consumption, being about 95~96% most of the time through the night. Another thing about ICS is that the GPS is seriously broken and if activated, the GPSLocationProvider will drain the hell outta your battery...
P/S: This is mainly a battery life discussion thread, please do not talk about how easy you could charge the phone or so.

I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone posting about awesome battery life on GB....especially not better than froyo. I don't even think I've ever really seen anyone say that ICS battery life was better than froyo either for that matter O-o I mean, for me...battery life is pretty satisfying on all of them....but for me, if I can wake up in the morning and use my vibrant to my hearts content and when I go to sleep still have some charge,...I am happy lol depending on what Rom I'm running though...I tend to get between 1-2 days so I'm usually happy. But froyo is definitely the best standby and such...on ICS I may have like 35% by the end of the night...but froyo, i might be at 55% or even 75% still lol
I have seen a plenty:
"With an unofficial upgrade to my Samsung Galaxy S (mid-2010!!! phone), ICS made battery life much more useful than GB or Froyo ever did. A lot smoother too, and that's just on 512 mb of RAM!"
Source: http://www.androidcentral.com/why-we-dont-need-another-version-android-year
Sometimes it just makes me wonder is it because that our ICS build was never official, that's why other phones are enjoying better battery life than us?
The reason why I care that much is because I'm using the Vibrant and I'm not from the states, there's no way for me to get a replacement if the battery goes haywire and I plan to use this phone for a long time to come. The fact that ICS uses battery faster just means that battery is gonna die sooner.
Wow vibrant still in the figth, grat phone by the way.

My Vibrant's battery performace is horrible on many roms. The worst is at CM 7, 7.1, ICS Passion. It gets better at Bionix (Froyo) and to my surprise Slim ICS gave me the best battery performance. I pair Sub Zero kernel with Slim and this combination give me approximately 24 hours of normal usage in one full charge.
It's not good enough, I know. But my phone has the crappiest battery I ever seen. With ICS, I can barely get more than 8 hours with normal usage. I got to turn off 3G, GPS, Wifi, no wifgets etc for the battery to be acceptable for normal use and that is unacceptable.
So I think Slim ICS + SubZero kernel definitely worth a try for great battery.

Heres from my experiences so far: (crappiest battery to best) GB > FROYO > ICS
All GB roms for me except Revolution ROM JVQ and a few others had the worst battery life in history. Froyo is better, but as soon as I do something on the phone, bam, it drains. Best battery rom for me on froyo is probably Bionix V Fishmanmod edition. ICS, tons of good stuff. SlimICS with Subzero = best battery for me.
Now for Jellybean So far, it has actually pretty good battery. im still testing though. On CM10 Preview by FE (v8) with devil 1.0.4 test3 Jb kernel, its pretty good. Pretty smooth, although Google Now lags a little bit from time to time. Its very nice. Think I'll be staying on it for a bit.

You do see that means GB is greater than froyo which is greater than ICS

ICS is best for me, GB and Froyo were similar
ICS seems to have the best DeepSleep/Not being used battery usage. I've used Bionix, MIUI Lithium (GB), ICS Passion and ICS Zen. When I switch to ICS I was able to stop using Juice Defender and just use without worrying about it.
I think gb was a little better because I got so sick of all the ics stuff.

Oh man tell me about it. I could barely muster a day's worth of use on a full charge running CM7. Hopefully Slim ICS will be better in that regard.

rom questions

My g900t with 5.1.1 is rooted. I'm looking for roms with better battery life. Do I need one that works with lollipop or can I use one based on kitkat? I don't understand why it matters since I will be flashing it.
If anyone can recommend any custom roms that would work for me, and that are for good battery life, let me know. As rooted, I've debloated, and Im using nova launcher, and I'm getting about 6hrs screen on time. I'd like more. The phone seems to drain fast in standby too.

EMUI vs CM 13

I want to hear the experiences you guys have with emui vs cm13.
At some points i always wonder if i should flash back to emui because of a few bugs and problems so i wanna hear a few experiences to see what you guys think about it.
- generally speaking i would love to hear what you like in comparision to the other
- how's your battery life, usage experience, how you think about the current bugs, etc.
- are you thinking to change rom to emui or to cm13 and why?
cm gives a more stock experience compared to emui, better battery life. unless youre going to update to emui 5, cm is better

With papsi ROM everything is fine by battery life is miserable with an outdoor brightness and mobile data on (only few hours).
Speedo; very descent battery life , zooming is fine but video recording is not, still buggy and finger print not working
Till now I think the best available firmware is stock but if speedo_thc managed to get his ROM as functioning as papsi's he will be the best daily driver for me.

papsi's isn't that bad on battery life for me. i get two days usage with constant bt connections and a few messengers push. you will have monitor wakelocks and stuff to optimize as much as possible though.
i am using
- amplify (no donate)
- greenify with xposed + root
but have 3 messengers, email and android wear on push at all times.
Cm notifications fixed emui not
cm's will always break after few months of heavy using, stock wont. sure cm has more customizeable tweaks and in some cases better battery life (never in my cases). evey device i have tried cm it always starts randomly rebooting, lagging and eats battery like hell(hahe had this issue with multiple devices). i prefer stock base and then rethemed to whatever you choose.
Currently, no custom rom is stable enough for daily use. I still love the EMUI camera and the finger print gestures. I will stick with EMUI 4 for now hopefully until custom roms are more stable and fully functional.
I've used papsi's rom for a few weeks as a daily. So far the only downside to me, is the battery life compared to stock emui.
Papsi's cm13 is better than stock EMUI on almost every points except the battery. I'm using his rom since he published it and it's pretty stable but the battery life can be a deal breaker. Some optimization would make the rom great for daily usage.

I agree with you, i would use his rom but the problems with the camera and battery life and the phone getting too hot when playing games or watching videos is what keeps me on EMUI since i never had issues with notifications.
