[Q] Can't see certain folder when plugged into PC? - Acer Iconia A500

Since I got my Tablet I have been copying music, pictures and some music videos on the internal SD via external mini SD. I created a few folders on the internal SD, wallpapers, pictures, video folders etc. and put files in said corresponding folders.
Today I finally installed WMP 11 so I can directly connect my tab to my pc for faster file transfering but when I plug in the tab the folders I have created including a few from installed apps do not show up, only the stock folders do...?
I put my movies etc. in the movie folder hoping that they would appear but they do not when plugged into the pc. What's the deal here??

I would install File Explorer HD and then you willbe able tower the files on your device, but in windows you'll only beable to see your memory cards and very little more.

how to make movie folders on sd card visible on Home Screen?

I have a few movies [some from old phone in mp4 format, some avis for the kids to enjoy once I install a player] that I installed onto SD card into folders called "videos" and "movies"
I would like these to be easily accesible but they are not found in the photos and video tab.
How do I either make then visible via the homescreen or if not that then easily accessible without having to go via file browser?

I found that if i created a folder called 'my videos' in the 'my documents' folder on the sd card then any videos i placed in there would appear on the photos and videos tab on the home screen - hope this helps.
Okay I will try that. Thanks.

DCIM folder causing freeze

Hi, I just wanted to let you guys know what I discovered today. Prior to having the HD2, I had a Vibrant, which had HD video capibility. I copied the DCIM folder back to the HD2 from the vibrant, which had some video files in it. It caused major problems. Freezes so bad that the phone was unusable. I am assuming that it is the HD video files, but I haven't copied the pictures back yet. I will follow up if I find that it was something else.
Without those files, Android seems to be running perfect on the 16GB class 2 card...can't wait till my class 10 card gets here tomorrow!!!!

It could be one specific picture or video that is causing the problem with your dcim folder.
possibly, but I removed the 6 HD videos, and copied all the pictures back to the SD, and everything seems to function fine now.
This has happened to me even on WM. All it takes is one corrupted file to bring your DCIM folder to a crawl. If it all of a sudden becomes sluggish, I always just delete the last few additions one by one till it speeds up.
DCIM files cause USB connection to drop
I'm sorry for the "it's happening to me too" post but.....
I store photos on my Samsung Galaxy Captivate internal SD card. Every time I connect to my PC via the USB cable browsing to the DCIM folder causes windows explorer to crash and the USB connection to disappear with the "media scanning" function to take place. Interestingly, the same thing happens if I store photos on the external SD card as well. So far I have tried:
formatting the internal and external SD cards
resetting the phone to factory settings
The problem remains, making the device unusable for transferring photos to a PC.
When it is connected in USB mode for othe rpurposes, there is no problem whatsoever in using windows explorer to browse to and open files in any folder (internal or external SD card) apart from the DCIM folder. After formatting, the DCIM folder can be opened (though it is of course empty) but taking a single photo results in JPG file in the folder that will then cause explorer to crash when trying to open or copy it.
I have Googled around but have not found a solution. I must emphasize, it only occurs with files in the DCIM folder. Any ideas would be much appreciated, thanks.

Which folder to transfer music and videos?

Hello.
When I open mass storage in computer, which folder should I transfer music and videos to in order to show up in the phone?
Thanks.
any of the removable drives that pop up when you mount the phone to the PC.
external or internal doesn't matter.. just preference really.
Also a little hint create a folder on your preferred drive, internal or external, and name it music or whatever for organization. Second hint if you create a folder named ringtones or notifications anywhere it will show up in your phones list of ones installed.

Another hint: if you don't want your ringtones and other sounds to show up in your music player playlist create an empty file in those directories called .nomedia

Programs can't see the SD card?

So some programs such as various video players, music players, and specifically Picasa can't seem to see SD card at all. Any way to remedy this?
Also, Picasa's integration seems to be broken as well. Can't upload straight to Picasa from the camera app...
You may have to format your sd card. Just copy the contents to your desktop and format the card then put the contents back on and give it a go. If it does not work post again.
Just tried it. Didn't work :-/
On the captivate there was a folder called something like SDcard-ext. The Atrix has the same folder, except its one level higher...
I'm using powerAMP and PSmobile as benchmark apps. powerAMP oddly sees my music files on the extSD, but I can't pull up the folder structure inside powerAMP. PSmobile doesn't see anything on the SD card (neither does picasa for that matter)
Picasa doesn't let me go up one more folder level to see the SDcard-ext folder

[Q] S4 Noob with Question on Storage Access

Hi all, noob to the s4. Was surprised when it didn't come with sd card. Read about the storage issues a bit. Wanted to put my music library in phone. Installed sd card- success. Camera recognized it, all pics go to the card. Loaded a metric ton of music on the card. Phone works great, all songs play just fine.
Now for the question- plugged the device to the pc for the first since installing the sd card. PC reads "phone" and "card" or something like that. Browse the card for the music files and only a fraction of the songs appear. More detail: My existing music library was mostly organized into artist folders, with a handful of song files not being in a folder. Well it is those songs that show up and only those songs, none of the couple hundred "folders" that have all the music. Weird or....
One last thing, and thanks in advance for your responses!
I am a picasa type of guy and that has always been my preferred viewer. When browsing existing phone camera photos on the pc, the thumbnails are really low res and the files only open with windows picture viewer. Any ideas why? Thanks again, I'm all ears.
