Latest firmware on Kies - Galaxy S II General

I've been away from the forum for a while and was hoping someone could tell me what the latest firmware is on Kies for UK phones. Don't feel like flashing my phone backwards just to find out.
Thanks

2.3.3 is the latest

Lie! There's no Brazil update.
Had to flash using Odin, which I recommend.

I've been waiting for 2.3.4 XEU to be available on Kies so I can update to official firmware. But I was just thinking...why do I care if its XEU or not? I can flash an official update from another region and still switch the language to english. I am in USA on AT&T anyway so its not like even XEU matches my country.
Am I missing something here? Is there a reason it matters to be on XEU for Americans?

It can depend if your phone is branded as the carriers can block Kies updates! There are serious problems with builds before KF3 (eg wifi sharing bug) so it worth flashing to that version if your carrier is blocking Kies updates. I updated about two months ago via Kies to build KF3 (2.3.3). I am in the UK unbranded O2/car phone warehouse. I am waiting for this latest new update to arrive on my s2 via Kies.

I am unlocked/unbranded. I think I'm going to just flash another official 2.3.4 firmware from Intratech's thread and then when a UK version comes out, I'll just flash that. I'm being patient for no reason Now I just have to figure out which region's firmware to flash....

He has posted an XEU CSC version. Just used it myself. It's perfect.
Just look for it in the thread.

Yep, KI4 includes english (US) I guess, so it shouldn't bother you.
I have to stick to UHKG7 because european roms don't include brazilian portuguese...

Right, but we're talking about Kies, KI4 isn't on Kies, nor is 2.3.4

Why not use Odin, mate? Then you can have the latest fw version.

question: I wanted to check out if the new firmware is available in my country, so i just restored (from cwm) my original firmware (cf-root kernel), reflashed a original kf3 kernel.
But Kies message is "You cannot update this device type".
Did i forgot to restore something original? besides the "root" everything else (rom + kernel) is original.
Well np i go back to miui i dont rly care atm, but in future if icecream is released, i prolly want to try it and having a working kies makes it faster.
Any suggestion?

Its a roll-out beginning with Nordic countries as posted here on XDA on this very section .
That is via Kies official Samsung product updates .
OTA may even follow .

Seriously, man. Ice Cream will be melted loooong before it shows up on KIES. If/when it shows up and you want it sooner, you'll more than likely need to flash it via Odin. KIES is limited by carrier releases. My SII wouldn't update via KIES either. Odin is the standard around here for a reason. It's safer, and it allows you to try what YOU want when YOU want it. Not when your carrier and/or Samsung releases it.

Official Froyo question

The Samsung firmware website has only leaked versions of Froyo for now, will they be getting the "official" froyo fw once Samsung releases the official version in September?
Not sure what you mean, but any pre-releases will probably need to be wiped.
At the moment, there are very few good reasons to be using the Froyo prereleases anyway. They were probably only leaked because people got annoyed of the claims that Samsung was sitting on their arses doing nothing.
Sorry I wasn't being clear. What i meant was: Will the internet get the official froyo firmware once Samsung releases it?
I'm asking this because where I am I cannot update to froyo OTA so I will need to flash it.
Yes you will. The xda community will have it before it goes ota
i dont think galaxy s has an option of OTA updates. u probably need KIES to update firmware.

I don't think this can be true or makes any sense. OTA agree but update via Kies why not? I recently updated to XF5 via kies in Dubai and hope the froyo update also to happen via kies.
This is not an android market to worry about any copyright issues for them to stop releasing it here. Once they host in samsung I think it will appear via Kies.

With only the slightest difference in hardware from the international version, someone I know here in Korea got an OTA upgrade (he has MBP and hasn't even bothered to load Kies). I think the carrier here is their closest partner and that might have something to do with it. Not sure.

it'll be OTA for cell providers that offers that service
or via KIES

it came out via KIES

Update through Kies in Dubai, that's good to know. Btw, does the XF5 have the android market app? You see that's the major reason I flashed to JG1 (Euro) rom.
On the other hand, if Samsung does release Froyo (through Kies) in Dubai, will there be a market app for it? I wonder.

Hi fakeullu, I have now realised that the update will be pushed to your kies based on what region ROM you already have in your mobile. So in that what you said and feared was right.
Even I had a SingTel (singapore) based SGS so the update that was pushed via Kies for me was again a singapore based one. I still had the SingTel based screens.
This is the same even for the locally purchased SGS in Dubai. You will get a Middle East based ROM, having said that there are multiple versions for a single region. For example, Middle East has some 3-4 different versions of FW. and good news is that some will have Market access. (you can refer to a thread called 'Samsung secret codes). These regions are identified based on a three letter alphabetical code like xsg for singapore and xfg for middle east.
In another thread on getting android market access - somebody was suggesting a technique to get access to android market and it worked for locally purchased device. Search for that thread.
I did the same and retained a singapore version while I removed successfully the SingTel customised contents out.
Dubai people flashed it to XFG and gained market access. So the next time you connect through Kies it will only push you a version that is compatible with XFG (the one that has market access).
I am sure this helps. You don't have to necessarily go for rooting and flashing a different regions ROM as the method I mentioned above is safe and without rooting and maintaining your warranty.
Cheers

Thanks for the comprehensive answer Sany. I've flashed to JG1 (Euro rom), so technically I should receive a euro update through kies even though I'm in Dubai?
Thats correct
Well sany, I did try updating through kies but it said no upgrade was available. Just like I thought. Anyways, I'm happy with flashing when Froyo roms (official) are released on Samsung firmwares website.

Help with firmware

So I've learned that I've got the XWKDC firmware which is apparently the oldest one.
I've been having a rebooting issue with the SGS2 phone as described here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1099121
I thought that maybe installing the latest firmware might resolve the issue.
So my question is this:
1. Is XXKE4 the latest firmware? That's what I can understand from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
2. Is there any reason why I shouldn't upgrade?
3. My phone isn't rooted and I don't want to root it atm. Is there a way for me to backup everything in case something goes wrong so that I can just restore it to it's current state?
4. How come some people are getting the updates through Kies and some people don't? Why can't I update through the software?
Thank you for helping
having the same issue with kies would love for someone to confirm

No

No
But you can lok for a copy of original firmware some are posted in dev section

Any Kies update is down to the phone provider and if they have passed the firmware and altered it or are not going to upgrade that firmware .

[Q] I9000 revert to official EUR ROM

Hi to all,
I'd like to revert my rom to an official one (froyo 2.2.1) and let kies update to the latest revision.
I founded tutorials on how to flash the rom, I now need the correct official rom for my GT I9000 so kies will recognize it and permit updates.
the product code is:
GT-I9000HKDEUR
actual firmware is:
PDA : I9000RSJP5
PHONE : I9000XJPP
CSC : I9000ITVJP3
I do not remember the original firmware letter codes so I need to reconstruct it; as I can see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14273114&postcount=2
as I can see there I think I can flash with:
XWJSD/XXJPY/OXXJS6/Sbl
XWJS8/XXJPY/OXXJS5
XWJS5/XXJPY/OXXJS4
Can somebody point me to the correct one?

No, unfortunately everyone above is mistaken. Your phone is Greek, (EUR is Greece, not Europe, as you might think). And more bad news for you, there is no 2.2.1 firmware for Greece, Samsung never released it. They are waiting for 2.3.3 any day now, however. The official firmware for your phone is XWJPH, 2.2. I will post a link when I get to my pc...

EDIT: Here you are... http://www.multiupload.com/AS2RWUE64Z. Wipe your phone with a factory reset, then flash this on top with Odin without repartition. You will then have the official version for your phone.
I'm not sure why you would want to do that, however...
what is the latest ROM version for SGS?

as far as i understood he just wants to get gingerbread via kies. and if he is in italy, the product code doesnt matter at all, only thing that matters is his previous firmware. and with js8 he should get an offer from kies for gingerbread as it is officially available for italy. http://asf-mobiles.com/2011/06/samsung-releases-android-gingerbread-italy-for-galaxy-s/
please correct me if im wrong i actually never used kies.

Yes, unfortunately I do have to correct you, sorry, you are wrong
Kies will not recognise the JS8 firmware because the italian rom will not match his greek product code. If he puts JS8 on, Kies will just tell him that "This firmware cannot be updated".
The only solution, if the OP's problem is staying under warranty and using Kies, is to flash the firmware that corresponds to his product code, which is the one I provided above.
Anything else will involve messing with the /efs folder to completely change the product code, but there is no point in doing that, as the IMEI of the phone will still betray its origins.
Actually I personally don't see the point in going back to an old Froyo build just to be able to upgrade via Kies, when Odin will give you the exact same result, and you can actually flash a newer and better ROM, which has not been given to Greece by Samsung, for whatever reason.
But in order to properly use Kies to officially upgrade, my previous post stands
-----
Of course, if you don't care about where the phone came from and all that warranty stuff and you only want to get it to upgrade via Kies, you can always change the sales code to ITV, by pressing phone and typing *#272*IMEI# (where IMEI is your phone's IMEI number, found by typing *#06#, or on the phone itself (under the battery)). Then choose ITV, and press Install. The phone will reset to factory defaults, you will lose your apps, but then you will be able to upgrade to the latest Italian Gingerbread with Kies, which for you will be RSJV3.

Argh!!!!!
as Tyxerakias said the XWJS8 will not result updatable with kies.
the rom suggested by Tyxerakias, result in kies as the latest for the phone, but was unusable.
lot of process (like "android.process.acore") died unexpected and the phone was not usable.
I returned to XWJS8 but is not the solution I wanted.

Belgian Stock Firmware for i5800

Hello,
I'm one of the people in Belgian who bought a g3 which was branded by a Belgian telecom provider. My brother bought the same phone, which was unbranded, and can update via Kies. Because my phone is branded, I can't update via Kies.
I'm wondering if someone can give me a link to the belgian stock firmware for either eclair (2.1) so I can update it after flashing via kies to froyo. If someone knows the belgian stock firmware for froyo (2.2), that would also be appreciated!
I looked at samfirmware, but there are so many firmwares that I don't know which is the latest one for Belgium.
Thanx in advance!

So, I downloaded the I5800XWJPE from samfirmware, but the rar file contains 3 tar.MD5 files,
one for the PDA, CSC and bootloader.
All the tutorials indicate i should go for "one package" option, but i have 3 files, without one for the phone.
What should I do?
The file names contain BOOT and other two and in odin you select Bootloader and the 2others

How to update my phone?

So,I bought a new s4 octa today. All is great ranging from the bright screen to the nice 22 gigs available. But I'm having some kind of problem.I don't get any updates via OTA,also I tried using KIES and it says I have non-Samsung device and that it has latest firmware.
The baseband version is i9500XXUAMDK and the build number is JDQ39.I9500XXUAMDK.
I don't have heating problems as I topped 40 Celsius with 32 in standby or just playing with it,but how do I update?

I'm so sorry,I was mistaken when saying that it's non-Samsung.It's recognized as GT-i9500 so no problem with recognition.I live in Romania. Are you sure that what I have is the latest software? If not,why don't I receive any updates?
EDIT: I used CPU-Z from the beginning, and I have 32-34 when just browsing or watching vids and it gets up to 40 in gaming.

The I9500 is not beeing officialy sold in Romania, the I9505 is. It is probably an imported device from another country bro. There is no Romanian I9500 rom available on Sammobile, only I9505 roms. The MDK is quite an old rom. You could flash the Russian I9500XXUBMG1 rom with Odin for instance. There aren`t many Euro roms available as far as i can see, the Russian SER is the only one next to the German MBC rom http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=17177. Check it on Sammobile yourself http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9500&pcode=SER#firmware. What was the language when the phone booted up the first time?

In what country do you live? Also install CPU Z from Play, that should give you info about the phone`s hard- and software. Non-Samsung device but still the latest software?

You flash official firmware in this case, so no. In what language did the phone boot up the first time, German, Russian or another language? BTW look in item 1 of my signature for how to use Odin.

I highly recommend that you find out more about your version before starting flashing other firmware. Look at the box, it should give you a hint. Also, find out the CSC (see in Kies, somewhere in the files). After you know your CSC, check sammobile and download your existing firmware just for backup so you can always flash it back to original if needed.
Then look if there is any newer firmware for your CSC. If not, you can flash a newer one for i9500 with a different country code.
If you're planning on rooting, you'll lose warranty, but can always turn back to stock if you need the warranty, triangle away and stock firmware will help.
However, if you root it, first thing you should make an EFS backup.
Edit: Oh wait, triangle away is not available at the moment for i9500... Forgot about that.

I found out that my i9500 is designed for South Africa(XFA).Now,when I look on sammobile,I see that the latest firmware for me is MDK(April) and that's the one I have. How the hell the latest firmware for South Africa is the April one when all the other countries have newer ones(from july and sometimes august)?!?

You can flash a newer firmware from another region, or you should consider the benefits (and the risks) of custom roms.
