All of a sudden my phone is unable to resolve google dns servers!
I was using miui 1.9.9 and am now trying cyanogen mod but am experiencing the same problems.
All other sites other than google can be accessed just fine using the stock browser. Am able to access google via opera mini browser.
I have tried a factory reset but the problem still exists. If i edit the /etc/hosts.conf file I can access the android market
I am on the crazyjohns mobile network in Australia.
Anyone have any ideas?
so bizarre. google will work for about 12 hours and then it will fail to resolve the server.
facebook also doesn't work when it fails. every other site i've tried loads fine.
i've now done several resets to the phone, and am now on lastest miui and stockwell.
just tried an optus sim which worked fine after it had been failing, then put my crazyjohns sim back in, and then crazyjohns worked.
thought i'd narrowed it down to the sim but i guess not. argh
Try installing the latest Stock Rom and then Miui back...There could be something wrong in your AMSS.
have tried various stock roms. still get the problem on the stock rom.
huawei website won't let me login currently, but i'm pretty sure it's latest australia roadhound one i flashed on it from home.
Huawei Mobile has pathetic customer support...downloads are not available through the website for more than a month now...

i've been using my vodafone magic for a yr. recently, there's a problem where after i'm connected to the net, im able to log into all websites except for facebook. and after i off the connection and on it again, which is the 2nd time i on the wifi, im not able to log onto any websites at all. but im still able to use the market. and i have to restart my phone but the problem repeats. any1 able to help me? thanks.
hrmm.. weird.. mabey try clearing the browser cache under browser settings if you havent done so already.
what rom are you running? mabey try a factory reset if your on the original rom, or reflash your custom rom if your running one.
this is strange.. never heard of it before..
i've tried clearing cache. doesnt work. mine is 32b, firmware 1.6. if i were to reset my rom, cos my phone is an unlocked one so i could use anywhere in the world, will it affected the phone causing it to be "locked" whre i cant use in other countries?
nope your phone will stay unlocked, you can do factory reset
i've done a factory reset. but the only problem now is unable to log into facebook only. after i type in facebook.com, it leads me to touch.facebook.com: Invalid URL,

whenever i log into google. it asks if i shld allow the access my location. shld i select OK, Never Allow or Cancel???
you can choose to allow or cancel, its just asking you so then it can do location based searches (i.e. pizza places near me)
as for facebook not working is weird... can you access touch.facebook.com via the facebook app? i have an exam today so after that i will look into this for you..

try to use dolphin browser to see if you can access facebook.

Anyone having this issue tonight? I have tried reloading settings, reflashed phone to 1.5, 2.1 still fails downloading apps.
I have tried no sdcard, new sdcard e.t.c.
I'm having the same problem with my desire hd, thought it might be something with my phone settings or an app i installed but after seeing this thread, maybe a server issue?

Just tried downloading maps on my girlfriends Hero.... fails ever time.. on "3" UK but my Desire works fine...
For some reason i'm now getting more luck using mobile data, not WIFI.
It does fail to start 3 times out of 5 but if it doesn't start downloading after 5 seconds or so I just cancel download and hit install again.
had some luck downloading a couple of apps but the failure rate is higher than the success rate, does anyone have a clear idea what's going on? google returns results that are a year or two old with this forum being the only recent one on the topic

I had the same problem on my Hero.
Did following things and then it worked for most of the downloads, couple of them didnt work I assume that could be bcos it wasnt meant for 2.1
What I did -
swap the sim and it gave me that I am signed out from Google..
Changed back to original sim again... signed in to google emails...
Then in Settings> Account & Sync> Unticked Google...
Came out of the settings...
Restart the phone..
Went back in the settings.. tried downloading... it failed...
Went back into Settings>account & sync>.. Ticked All options for Google...
Waited for that little circular sign to appear on the top bar and google email thing..
Came out of settings...
Downloaded apps from Market...
and it got installed...

It's ok forgot to post back in this thread, it seems like a market server issue for everyone not for a certain configuration. It's ok now.
Still wont download here.... still cant download google maps on this dam phone....
even wireless wont.... my Desire is still fine.

on my hero (t-mobile g2 touch android 2.1), my sapphire (cm6.0.0 ds) and my other sapphire (sparksmod 1.1.2) most of the downloads failed.
Astro File Manager works everytime on every phone.
my "nuerburgring livecam"-app also starts downloading on my sapphire cm6. now installing. the same with "öffi". but all the other downloads stuck on "downloading" or "download unsuccessful"
I was having problems with this for a few days, I tried everything.
Now it works fine for me, some say it was the market itself because of the big google maps update.
If you are on a Cyanogen 6.1 based rom (floyo and elelinux) this fix might work;

So for the past few months I've been messing with different roms and accidentally setup one of my roms with a different email and bought the app chandroid. When I reverted to the main Rom I use chandroid wanted me to update so I tried but since I bought it under a different account it wanted me to buy it again. I found that the new market let's you switch between emails so I installed it but was unable to download or update any app.
This is where all the trouble started. I went to Google for answers and someone suggested clearing the data in the market. After doing this market would just say an error has occurred and shuts down. I then tried a factory reset. When I go to setup the account it says can't establish a reliable data connection. I understand this is a known problem but its different from my problem because even factory reset won't fix it. I've tried the YouTube method as well to no avail. One of my roms didn't come with the YouTube app and when I tried downloading it it said I already had it but it was no where to be found under app management.
The only luck I have had is with the muiu Rom. I was able to setup the account but that Rom looks too much like the iPhone and I prefer cyanogen 7 mod. I have factory reset, wiped cache, reinstalled rom. The only way market works is when I reinstall backed up roms.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
So basically you have a problem with the market app? or your google account?
because if you have paid fopr an app on a different email account, you can just save the apk and reinstall it.

It was installed. The problem is that it uses Google to authenticate the app and I can't setup my Google account so it can't authenticate. When I factory reset I get the message can't establish data connection. My internet works perfectly fine. Right now I just want a clean install of cyan 7 with the new market. I installed gapps as well and still same problem.
I really don't care about the app anymore since I installed 4chon. I just want my market to work again.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I've tried everything possible as far as I know.
Okay so I figured it out. What I had to do was unroot my phone. Just download the PC36IMG.zip online and put it on the root of your sdcard. Go into clockworkmod by powering the phone off and then holding the down vol. and pwr button at the same time untill the hboot screen shows up. It will automatically detect it and just say yes when it asks you to install it. When it's finished you have to either delete the PC36IMG.zip file or rename it otherwise everytime you reboot the phone it will reinstall it. That's not a very good fix but as I am the only person I know of who has had this problem I do not see a better fix anytime soon.
TL/DR: I need a copy of the stock aussie roadhound firmware.
I've been using CM7 unofficial and CWM 5.0.2.6 recovery for a while on my plain u8800. The other day, the phone randomly shut it self down (wasn't plugged in).
It was stuck in a boot loop, and the only thing that would get it out was clearing cache and resetting permissions.
When the phone restarted I was presented with the setup guide again. While going through the guide, a lot of apps I had installed previously (titanium backup ect) were force closing. Although I was connected to the internet I couldn't download or sync my google account.
I skipped the setup guide, most applications didn't work, and I opened terminal. Using wifi I could ping googles dns servers by IP (8.8.8.8). I tried an nslookup using that dns however, and it failed.
I tried upgrading to the latest CM7, and since then I've had a question mark over my battery, and now only wifi works (3g/mobile worked at the start, now I can't even make phone calls.)
I'm hoping to try a stock firmware one last time, and if that fails, at least I'll be able to return my phone in that state. Unfortunately, none of the links online seem to be working.
Any Ideas/Links?

These are some odd, nasty software bugs, it appears on an LG G6.
I have tried everything with this phone and it still has the following two errors:
While attempting to access play store: there is a problem communicating with the server, please try again later
And intermittently with chrome: a variety of ssl errors (ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERORR, ERR_SSL_SSL_BAD_RECORD_MAC_ALERT are by far the most common.)
Both happens regardless of time or network
Apart from that, everything works fine, phone calls, as a hotspot etc, even firefox seems to work fine. I am unable to add a google account in anyway just gives the same errors.
The phone has had the issue on stock lg firmware, from nougat and updated to the most recent.
The phone has, after these updates, been rooted and stock and custom firmware added. Same problem.
I have edited the hosts file as per a previous post elsewhere, which fixed every thing for other people with no change.
It has been fully hard reset many times, reflashed many times wiped in all ways via twrp and still the same. The time is also correct, as is the date.
I have manually updated play store, services and chrome, no change.
Does anyone have any advice at all?
