Sudden and unexplained drop in screen 'bit', resulting in poor colour gradients

I know there is already a thread about the general performance with gradients on this phone, but my phone just suddenly seems to have switched to 256k colour mode rather than 16M.
Doesn't affect videos, but does in games and static images.
See the gradient on my Equalizer widget and the icons at the bottom compared to an earlier screenshot on the right.

And this is looking at a picture I took in the Gallery.
Any ideas what could cause this sudden degradation of quality? I haven't changed any settings.

Did you ever figure this out ..i too have the same problem .. very easy to notice when using quadrant .

i would be keen to see if this has been resolved this happen recently but only for a split second before it corrected itself, maybe wiping the phone and flashing might fix it

i've noticed this and found if you go to display properties and disable 'Auto Adjust Screen Powe' it brings my pictures back to life. Not sure if this is the fix but it helped me.

After trying lots of custom roms and different kernels i decided to try the stock Orange branded rom BVKG3 and now my graphics are nice and clear again.
Can anyone explain why this is happening and is there an unbranded rom that will work for me ?

Got this when i was using cf3d and used an option on it (forgot what it is) to reduce wuality but improves performance.

Its chainfire3d it affects gallery too. Change default settings back. Reduce trxture quality to off !

ok so i dloaded chainfire and had a look at the settings..ie reduce texture quality and its unchecked .. and also seems to make no diference when it is checked

I still have no clue what is causing this ..tried Villainrom too still happening.

ok so this is getting annoying .. I have 2 sgs2 phones one black one white.
Both run perfect with the standard Branded orange rom no bad graphics / rendering.
Both the same age model etc.
However the black one has the problem already mentioned.
So now i have downloaded android hardware info tool just to make sure they were physically identical and they are ..
So just to recap --same rom --same kernel-- same baseband

In some respects yes but for practical uses I don't believe so. Scilor's multi touch shows HD2's multi touch capabilities but for things like gaming, etc. I really don't see any way around it. Try it, it's a bit of work but not much. Should help.

im pretty sure ive heard that the hd2 can support more than 2 touches maybe 3 or 4 points i think... although i wouldnt know an app that u could test the theorie on... not calling the above posters liars, nor am i sayin my answer is correct or the info i heard is true... but just adding my two cents... it was a long time ago i heard it... about 2 years back i think now... when i was lookin at the reviews of my shiny new hd2...

The HD2 can only locate 2 points. You can test it with the pointer locater in the app called dev tools, if you are running Android. It is included in cm7 roms afaik.

I was wondering the same thing. I thought there was something wrong with my phone. Thanks people.
But still the touch screen flickers sometimes. I mean when i try to move something and move it slowly, it shakes. Or sometimes when i'm typing it types other letters. Or when i try to move something with my both fingers on the screen, it makes very strange movements. Does anyone have the same problem or it's just my phone?

Well, if you are using a faulty Charger or a USB Cable with Laptop and your Laptop is not properly grounded then this happens. Check if your phone gives trouble when it is disconnected?

[Q] SAMSUNG LINK PLATFORM??? It's bugging me.

Loveing my samsung N4, however i keep getting the below.
What is it?
How do i resolve it and stop the notifercation.?
It keeps poping up and if i try to do what it ask's i.e select a device and click done nothing happens...at all the done button dose nothing the only thing i can donit click cancle and it will pop up sgain randomly a hour later or maby a few hours.
Please how do I resolve it???

Well dont know abour you but im on three from the UK.
Also still haveing issues...i uograded from a Desire S that was fallin apart.
Maby i can send you photos and you can post them for me.
It was one hell of a big uograde in more way than ine ahah...it was quite a diffrance going from a 4.? SD Screen nice 5.7 QHD LOL....MASSIVE DIFFRENCE....for the better thouh lets booe we can get this fixed.
WHOO HOO.seems useing the insert image button works unlike just posting the IMG code. ..
It's a pita vs just posting the IMG code but we'll it worked at least I guess.

Did ya try to clear app cache ?
Setting > app mamanger > all > find samsung link plat. clear cache then restart device

Long tap on it and select "App info", then tap "Turn Off" button to disable it.
I also turned off "Samsung Link" app on my Note 3.

Tried clear cache, so far so good
Edit: Clear cache did not work, had to freez the app using Titanium

Ok so looks like the best idea is to disable the app so will do that.
Is there any reason why i might not want to do that though what dose the app actually do and it really should just work the first place should it not? ??

Already found something I hate about Nougat on the S7 Edge

Got the Nougat update this morning like everyone else.
Immediately I notice a problem. Not a big problem in itself, but over and over this becomes pretty annoying.

Notice anything? The reply button is missing.
It only appears when the notification is expanded, as seen below.
Ok no big deal. But this means you have to expand your hangouts, messenger, and who knows what other messaging apps to get the reply button to be displayed. Every single time.
One of the big selling points of Nougat was being able to reply directly from notifications quickly. While this is still possible to do with this update, it will require expanding the notification every time. My wife's Nexus 6P has nougat installed and the reply button is immediately visible, no expanding notification necessary.
Is there a setting buried deep down somewhere that changes this back to how it should be? Even on Marshmallow the reply button was visible immediately, though not implemented as gracefully as Nougat, the button was still there without having to expand anything.

Lol the world is going to end without a simple reply button! We are all doomed! ???

I realize it's pretty trivial, but this is not the behavior of stock Nougat. Samsung decided to give us an extra step for no real reason.

Unfortunately it looks like Samsung just decided to implement it this way. It happens with all messaging apps I've used thus far. My wife's 6P has the reply button instantly available, no expanding needed.

Where's the battery setting to turn off fast charging? I don't see this setting anymore...

I'm finding it difficult to organize grouped icons in the app drawer. If you already have 9 icons and you hit edit and try to bring one to another page it just won't drop.
For example http://i.imgur.com/WbpjOIv.jpg
I'm holding onto the play games icon soon as I let go to drop it goes back to the first page in the group. Yeah you can remove it and add it again but it'll be difficult to organize them to preference order.
Also did they take away the option in settings for your default launcher? I guess you can get to it by opening the launcher itself but I'm curious if it's just me or was it moved?

Hi, just bought the V20 and am very impressed with its speed and features. When the phone is locked, the second screen should show date:time:battery level. When you unlock the phone it shows vol level:wifi status: torch:bluetooth:notepad. I haven't figured out yet if it is possible to change the shortcuts as they appear to be the most common/ recent settings I changed. Hope this helps.

When you unlock the phone it shows vol level:wifi status: torch:bluetooth:notepad. Go to settings/ Second screen and tap on sentence "show when main screen on". Pick what you would like to appear. You can also tap on "show when main screen off" and pick what you want to see. Hope this helps.

System ui tuner app has some settings for this.
I think setting inmersive mode will move status bar to 2nd screen.
Let us know if you find a good settings.
