miui or cyanogenmod - EVO Shift 4G General

what one are u runnung and what one do u like and think is better i have cyanogenmod right now pretty fast and cool

Cyanogenmod7 nightly 179 + Scarykernel Stable + Launcher Pro. Go check my thread for optimal CM7 settings here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1262313

I'm a CM7 user all the way. Nightly #178 FTW! I get why people like MIUI but I am not one of those people. I don't like how it looks all iphoney and the stock launcher doesn't support landscape. Also no 4G and being closed-source are turnoffs.
ALL HAIL OTAKING71, THE RAPER OF HBOOT!!!

I've been running the latest miui, I tried nightly 179 and multiple kernals but I seem to get better reception on miui. I like how customizable it is, it has some nice settings and wifi tether built in. No 4g means nothing to me as I have more luck finding an open wifi network than I do 4g anyways. Pretty much going to be a decision you have to make for yourself. Try them both, give miui a little time to learn it, it is very different.

I love how miui looks and i love the endless customization....but it has no 4G support so just because of that I have to give it to cm7.
And I see alot of people love the tiamat kernel? Is it really that good compared to the other ones made for the shift? Never used it

I like it. With it I feel no need to change from the stock max of 1ghz w/smartass governor. It's also the only AOSP kernel for the Speedy that is compatible with Vipermod or Incredicontrol (sp?).

[Q] what is your favorite rom ? addicted to flashing.

What's up so here ya go what is your favorite Rom? I love quite a few don't you wish they could merge your favorite roms all into one bad ass rom. It be nice if someone could redo the wiki for the Rom forum with a lil screen shot of the roms and keep it up to date.
Hands down....
I've flashed the hell out of roms and the one in my signature is the best and fastest (non-ASOP)
For me I have to say MikFroyo 4.5....that rom is a beast and fast as hell!

Plus one on this. Ultimate Droid is 1000X better than anything Cyanogen is doing. Best AOSP experience around.
It's not nearly as buggy as CM7.
Warm Z, CM7, Kings Unleashed and Vaelpak. If you haven't tried Vaelpak, I would def flash that next.
Im loving Ultimate Droid!!!!! Awesome rom...

Fastest GB ROM that is NOT CM7?

I love fast roms, but I haven't been given the time to test all of these new roms.

Give Deck's GB a try
+1 for DECKS!!!
lets just say i love experiment with some strange but i'll always come back to decks
Syndergy based roms are doing me right right about now, so any should be good. If your going to be in the community i find it hard to believe that the urge to flash multiple roms won't eventually get its grip on you
decks is cyanogen, with a different launcher.
try salvagemod or evervolv
Gotta give my vote to mikg v1.04
I'll be the first to represent for VaelPak AOSP GP Preview. I love it, no problems whatsoever for my admittedly-average usage experience. It's still in beta, but Vaelek is a talented dev. Not sure why he left XDA, but he's running his own show at vaelek.com these days.
I've also heard good things about Deck's ROM.

The guy updates his stuff every 10 minutes!!! Kidding of course but he really strives to make his the best it can be. I absolutely love it!!!

I agree 100% I wasn't a big fan of asop till deck.
Decks is great. I keep finding myself coming back to Decks gb rom. way to go. Try it out and see how you like it.
I never tried Decks, but it is based off of CM 7 from what i'v heard. If you're looking for something other than CM7 then you HAVE to try out MIUI.
Not only is it one of the best GB roms i'v ever used, it's one of the best roms i'v used period (and i'v been flashing roms since the G1 days). Trust me, you won't regret. I highly suggest once you flash it install Go Launcher because the stock launcher is a little "iphone-ish" unless you like that kind of thing, then it's all good.
+1 for Decks ROM......
Deck's rom is pretty awesome. Running that with the SZ kernel, LauncherPro, and the Supercharger script, and my phone has never been faster.

So, I tried using Synergy, and I have no idea what it could have been, but it felt a lot slower than I was comfortable with.
I have yet to try MIUI, but people seem to enjoy it. At the moment I'm on Kingdom R6 and I feel like it's one of the faster ROMs I've used.
I haven't used an AOSP ROM yet, but it seems that Deck is the ROM of choice. I know with CM7 I can't flash it because I used unrEVOked, is that the same situation with Deck?

CM7 vs all other GB roms, opinions

I have ran evervolv in the past but have been running the latest versions of CM7 for about 4 months, I love all the customization options, but I do get some quirks, and random reboots etc.. occassional lag
I am wondering what you guys would recomend as far the fastest and most stable GB rom
Evervolv? Evo deck? MIUI? etc?

CM7 is ok, kernel that comes with it is horrible though. Nightlies are better than their stable release.

Deck is awesome, much faster/reliable than CM has ever been for me. Though after moving to an area with no 4G I switched to MIUI and I absolutely love it.
Deck's is without question the best for my phone. I've kept it running longer than any other ROM.

I'd love to use MIUI but the no 4G on it is a deal breaker Deck's has been a lot faster and stable than CM was for me on my Evo. I'd skip CM all together and just try Deck's if you want an AOSP ROM.
From my understanding Deck's is CM7 with everything stripped out except for EVO specific features/kangs. That may or may not make it faster, I dont know because Ive never used it, but that is my understanding of the difference.
I rock CM7 Nightlties...I get at least 1day 5hrs minimum now...lol
+1 to decks ...Neva had had reboot on it and GPS works flawlessly

Not necessarily true, it is majorly based off of CM7. If you read the post for the deck rom it has other things pulled from other GB rom's as well. It's certainly not just a "renamed CM7" because it works for me a lot better stability wise. He has also fixed a lot of things that CM7 hadn't. Not knocking the CM team whatsoever because we wouldn't have Deck's if it wasn't for them.
What ever helps you sleep at night........

Just to add my two cents... I run cm7, I enjoy the bloat and custom settings. No, deck is not cm7. A lot of roms use stuff from cyanogen just because he and his team do so much work. However you have to give credit to Deck for his rom being a compilation of his own. Like it was said read the opening post for his rom and you will see.
If you want super clean basic gingerbread that you can do whatever customization you want go with deck. If you want gingerbread that has been tweaked and had included tweaks options go cm7.
I will give props to savaged zen here as well. Very similar to cm7, but not the same! I love the included kernel tweaks, no need for script but less customizable. It is awesome that a Dev would include a custom kernel specifically built around their rom.
Honestly we have such awesome choices for gingerbread and they keep getting better. Try them all and find out which suits your needs best.

to OP:
I've been trying a lot of roms lately too. For AOSP, go with Decks 1.2. Its lightweight, fast and pretty awesome. If you want sense, do a search for Synergy Nightlies and you'll find what your looking for. Another good alternative is MikG 2.0
I've been rocking Deck since the pre release of 1.0. But in the last couple of weeks have been trying out the Sense 2.1+3.0 hybrids. After flashing MikG/Alliance, I haven't really had the desire to go back to AOSP.
I've had CM7 for awhile and today i had an important place to go to but the GPS was so spotty i couldn't get to it and i read this post and decided to flash Decks and i gotta say the GPS works flawless and the stability is just superb.

[Q] What is your favorite ROM?

Hey guys, I know this may have been asked a few times already but I wanted to know what your favorite ROM's are as of 2012? I am currently running Legendary ROM 2.2 and I can't say I have any complaints so far. It has only made my phone go from a piece of turd to a diamond. Let me know what you guys like.

And why! Don't just drop a ROM name. Mention which are your favorite features and which other ROMs you might have tried. Maybe this thread will stop the questions "what's the best ROM". Basically it was always asking "what ROM are you using" Because those were the results.
So far legendary has been the best for me! I have tried out thunderhawk (laggy for me) mostly stock (too stock for me)... well let's just say I have tried them all and I always end up back to legendary... it has the perfect balance of themeing, stability, and performance IMO!

Thunderhawk 3.3 has just about every mod I want and runs super smooth with my usage. I like the professional theming and awesome balance of stability, performance, and battery life. I am biased as I help random with some minor debugging at times. There are lots of ways to run your setup, the key is finding what fits your usage. Roms used
So far I have used Marcusants ASC roms 5.1 - His V.2 was a fan of the speed, but just not stable. And I'm not a fan of V.2 with the red color theme. I have also Tried MIUI 1.12.23 which worked good, but i like having the app drawer which this did not. I am currently running CleanGB 1.03 with no issues. It is a stable rom, running 4g without issues and installed gtalk w/video. Next on the list is the new CM7 version which seems to have gotten Wifi stable as well as 4g working.
I have to test out all the roms and supply to all the friends/family that have the epic so they dont end up calling me for every error they get
Legendary RC 2.1 rocking my allblue theme on MTD.
CleanGB MTD is a great ROM. No problems, good battery life. Love it

Exactly. Once again, NOBODY can tell you what the best rom for you is. Everyone has their own wants/needs, and not to mention the same rom will not run the same on every single device. Try a few roms, and find one you like, simple as that.
I use the Miks rom and it run flawlessly

BTW Why is ICS Muiu running Mason kernel the best? Does GPS camera video ect work?? How do I get video or movies from my phone to work on my TV thru QQ player?

n00b-rom!?!
I am an OG Epic user, and the biggest (only?) complaint I had and have seen with our ICS ports is that the lack of battery life renders the phone unuseable. Is the same the case with the Evo? I see a lot of ICS roms and folks here seem to like it, but I've flashed the Evo's on my account with some roms lately that score unbelievable battery life so I'm hesitant to change.
