HELP
Acer Offical Hard Reset Video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwyGSwmzVtM
Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.
Just tried it on mine
Steps:
While Tab is on, turn on lock screen switch.
Turn off tab
While holding Volume + press power button
When tab vibrates, release the power button ONLY and QUICKLY turn off the screen rotation lock switch.
If you see some white writing in the upper left, and things should be going smoothly.
Again, you have to flip the screen lock switch quickly after the tab vibrates while continuing to hold down the vol + button.
If you did not back up your original ROM then you will need to re-flash the correct version from your area and update accordingly.

Hi people. having a bit of a crisis. my mini s wont startup any more? it just hands at the 'windows mobile' graphic?

Have you tried to give it some time? When i had old version of Polish official WM5 ROM from Era operator, my Wizard took more than 5 minutes to boot (instead of less than a minute with newer ROM). Also, sometimes it did hang in the process. What seemed to help (though i have no idea why) was not allowing the backlight to go off by tapping the screen once in a while during the boot process.
left it on, with charger plugged in to maintain juice all morning and its not gone any further
And how about keeping the device awake - tapping the screen during boot process?
it stays permanently awake from reset
What i meant, is that when my device booted, after a while the backlight went off. if i didn't tap the screen to turn it back on, the device simply hung. Then again, that was probably just a problem of my ROM/software combination, since i never saw anyone else describing such problem. If you have your data backed up, you might try a hard reset, if not, maybe someone else can give you a bit more useful advice
it just stays on. no tapping required.
is a hard reset the same as holding down the power button til it turns off because ive done that a few times now
any suggestions?
nope, hard reset is holding the comm manager and voice memo buttons pressed and pressing the side reset button. Keep these buttons down until you get a question if you want to restore your factory defaults (you'll have to press the call button if you do). Be arare that you'll lose all the data on your phone (those on the storage card will stay intact) - all the files, contacts, messages. I hope you have a backup of those...
strangely enough, held down those three buttons and instead of asking me to hard reset it vibrated and then popped the txt mesages screen up?
very bizare
must have been retaining the boot graphic on top of the apps?
thanks for the help!

Well, i must admit - that sure is odd.
there is another way to hard reset - turn off your device completely (holding the power button for a few secs, and answer the popup message asking if you want to power down "yes" (from your earlier posts i understand that it worked). When the phone is completely off (no LED blinking), press the two side buttons i mentioned earlier (voice command and comm manager) and while holding them power the phone up just as you normally do - by power button. Keep both side buttons down until you get the question about resetting. If you hold the buttons and it gets to the windows mobile screen, then one of them might be faulty.
[EDIT]
I just thought o0f something else - if the SMS window pops up, it would mean that the device is actually booted, so it should connect with activesync. Maybe connecting it to the PC, opening the device's folder, and navigating to /windows/startup folder. Thye problem might be caused by one of the applications run on start, so try moving (not deleting) all items from startup to some location on your PC. Then do a soft reset (the reset button on the side). If it boots, post the list of apps you had in startup, maybe we can figure out which one was causing trouble and put all others back to startup. If not, then the problem is somewhere deeper in the system, and a hard reset will probably be necessary.

Hello all,
I am new to the forums but I have been using the HTC Touch for a few months now, and would like some guidance about a few problems i'm having. First off, I am using the official 6.1 rom with sprint....
I am running S2U2 and am having a problem with my phone turning off while in my pocket. It seems the power off menu can be brought up if you hold the power button, even if S2U2 is running. This is very frustrating, is there anyway to lock the power button when S2U2 is running, or any other option?
Is there any edits that can be done to make S2U2 call the factory device lock? I couldnt find anything related to the lock in the registry. If there is, is there anyway to assign the factory device lock to the power button, so that when you blank the screen it auto-locks? I love this feature with s2u2, and with stock device lock it takes 3 buttons to do this...
Thanks!

The only thing that I could suggest that might help is to get yourself a good case for your phone that would protect the button from being accidentally pushed. I have never had this problem with my phone. The button actually has to be pressed and held to bring up the power off menu. Even when not in it's case, I have never had this happen; however, the phone is only out of it's case, when I am using it. In the case, there is even less chance of powering off the device.
Rod.
The default device lock works just like S2U2, as it leaves only the power button unlocked. If you locked all buttons, how would you turn your phone back on??

The problem i'm having is that the phone actually powers off while in my pocket somehow....what i'm saying is that the phone not only "wakes up" from the standby mode, but also calls the shut down window and you can press the "yes its ok to shut down" button while s2u2 is running, something the stock device lock will not do.
It would be really nice if there was a slide type lock that was based off the code of the stock device lock.
Thanks for the replys
Find what the application is that launches when pressing the button and add it to the S2U exclusions list.
I have a verizon and my power button toggles screen off and on, so im not entirely sure, Is this a stock popup or a program you installed ? There is probably a registry entry somewhere that defines how the power button functions jsut as the button manager does for other buttons.

I understand your point, and am still wondering what it is you keep in your pocket with your phone that shuts it off!? Anyways, why do you keep referring back to the default device lock? S2U2 performs the same way, as it locks everything besides the power button. If the power button is locked, how would you wake up the device to unlock it ???
the power button has two functions, it blanks the screen if you press it, or it brings up the power off menu when you long press it. The problem i'm having is s2u2 doesnt prevent the power off menu from coming up, where as the stock device lock does. Thus, it is possible to completely power off the phone while the keys are locked.... of course I want to be able to wake the phone up with the power button, but i dont want to be able to turn it completely off.
And i'm not sure how it turns off in my pocket, except i usually carry it with the power button face down (phone upside down) and it must press against the bottom of my pocket...
The application that it is calling is the stock shut down menu, i'm not sure how I could add this to the exception list, as I dont know how to call it remotely....
Thanks again for the replies!
The title of this caught my attention.
It would be very nice to have a registry edit that will lock the device when powered off or on device wake up.
I use S2U2 and I am really not liking it personally, but it is better then the default setup currently I feel.
I was playing a game on my Vibrant on my break earlier today and upon exiting it my screen locked up. Rather than wait for it, I pressed the power button to turn the screen off and went back to work.
A little later I brought it out to check the time and saw that the screen was on am pretty sure I saw that it said "Scanning media" at the top and assumed it had reset itself. A little bit after that I checked my phone again and saw the NoLed icon for new emails. I pressed the power button to turn on the screen and then tried to swipe it to unlock it but nothing happened.
That's pretty much where I am now. The volume and power buttons work but the screen is unresponsive (I can bring up the "Phone Options" screen but can't select any of the options) and none of the "soft" buttons on the bottom work either. Is my only option to do a hard reset?
And if it helps, this is a completely stock phone. Never been rooted.
I would just pull the battery.
I remember having something like that with NoLED, tr pressing the power button to wake it up and press the home key (unless you have it disabled in NoLED prefs) to get to the lock screen and unlock it.
Press and hold the power button until the phone reboots. That should take care of it.

Thanks! That did the trick. Could have sworn I tried that already but apparently I didn't hold it down long enough.
I just bought and installed this unit in my 2010 Prius from a seller on Ali Express
I want to install a custom ROM on it but first I want to make sure I can successfully boot into recovery in case something goes horribly wrong. The seller REALLY doesn't want to share that information with me, so I was wondering if someone here might know how this is done.
If you have a reset button...
Press it (with toothpick) and hold it pressed until you see blinking the lights of buttons...then release and press it again until you see the lollipop logo. Release it and you will be on recovery menu.
You can move on different options from recovery by pressing quickly the reset button and choose an option by holding pressed the reset
if I did help you, please hit "thanks" button

So I tried that, but on my unit when you press the reset button all the light go out and stay out until the button is released. The only time I can get the lights around the buttons to flash three times is when I release the reset button and hold down the power button. But when I release the power button and hold it down again after the flashes it just repeats the three flashes again like the first time. If I release the power button at any time it just loads up like normal. If I hold it down again when the lollipop logo comes on it just goes blank and repeats the three flashes again. If I press the reset button it just resets the unit again, if I hold it down it does nothing until I let go, then it resets the unit again like normal.
The three flashes seem like they mean something but I can't figure out how to get to the next step of actually starting the recovery. I want to flash a custom rom but I am afraid to do it without the safety net of being able to get into recovery if I need to, you know?
any update
I also want to buy this unit, but I'm just not sure:
Does it connect to all the functions of the Prius 3? Camera? Microphone? Steeringwheel buttons? Other?
Or do you need extra modules? Which?
Are you enabled to edit the basic car functions from it at least?
Found the thread on google, waiting for someone custom rom it, its good, everything works excepts its buggy, sometimes camera dont work etc that is why i also want a simlle custom rom on it
Edit: solved here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/an...pment/mtcd-intel-sofia-units-wifi-3g-t3533154
Could you explain me how? I have same screen but I don't even get those 3 lights pushing both reset + power at same time. Thanks
Hey guys, so I have this media and my camera doesnt work, I just bought this car and when i put to reverse just yellow triangle appears, i found on google that they might be a solution in my factory settings, but I dont know the password, so do any of you know it, i would apreciate any kind of help, thanks.
Hello everyone here,
I just run into trouble - a power button on my Galaxy J5 failed. Few days ago home button failed too.
Device is still on and running, so I need a quick check for not locking myself out.
1) after phone was locked - can volume keys wake the screen? (so I can enter e.g. an unlock pattern)
2) does J5 require to press power or home button to turn it on (e.g. after power down)
3) does J5 require to press power or home button to wake screen after it is restarted?
also, if anyone would like to suggest...
4) how can I access restart menu? or just restart the device?
5) any other issues I can run into?
6) can the be a software issue?
7) can a non-affiliated repair shop get this easily fixed or would they probably make things worse?
any advice is welcome!
phone is not rooted. Lock screen security (pattern) is now deactivated.
Model SM-J510FN, J510FNXWUAQG1, Android 6.0.1,
thanks!
Plug in charging, if it wakes up its working!!
thanks for feedback!
yes, it is working I installed Gravity Screen app and it seems to be doing fine with turning screen on and off.
The only question left is what to expect if the battery should run off one day or I'll need to reboot the phone or take out the battery... I am afraid it expects pressing power button to start booting, but its not working... any ideas?

Yep.. Then you'll have to take it to the service centre, that's the only solution I can think of.. :silly:
today the power button misteriously started to act again. I'll stick to Gravity app for waking the screen and hope the button will work in rare cases when needed after powerdown....
thanks everyone for suggestions!
