By far my favorite Rom for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is Task650's Rom in combination w/pershoots kernels very smooth, and the dev is very quick to respond to any questions or issues! Thanks for all the hard work really looking forward to anything in the future!
+1 man, new to the android world and happy to use his rom!!
starbust bb
Fast stable smooth. There is no going back once u flashed it
is it better than the build that comes with the tablet? (i think you call this stock rom, right? )
What are the advantages to use this build exactly?
Thanks!
this is by far the best thread out here so far! Lol. Thanks guys. I'm glad everyone's liking it. Tomorrow there will be update.
+1 Great rom task650. Thank You!

Agreed. Currentlly running this ROM and Pershoots Kernal and its running smoooooooooooooooooooooooooth. Thank You!
I loved his rom too, but I dont like the blue theme introduced in 6.1. Can someone let me know how to go back to v6's theme?
I've been rocking with task650.

Broodcromb KH1 leak + pershots + 99superchargerv6 + browsermod onwz! fast like hell... would be perfect if i find a cool theme =p
One more Task's fan out here. LOL. His roms are soo clean. No bull****
Blazar non-TW + Bonsai kernel, smooth, love the stock Honeycomb UI.
I'm on stock. Is the rom worth the upgrade? I mainly use the web browser? Is the browser faster? Has anyone done any benchmarks?
Task's V5 gets my vote!
Tasks ROM is the perfect choice!

Task650 ROM is too unreliable. It has the battery drain issue. I ran Task650 for about a week and twice the tablets battery was dead in the morning after still having 60% or more life left the night before. I reverted back to the stock ROM and never had a problem since or before Task650. I wouldnt recommend it.
Hm which version did you use?
I'm about to try it out, but won't if this problem is "common"

Yes, it is a common problem with Task650 and other ROMs here. Stock ROM is the only one which is immune to it. You have to be very careful here. The devs who create ROMs here do not list you the bugs and issues their ROM has, and rest assure every ROM here has issues. They will not list them in the first posts of the threads because there is a sense of competition between the ROMs. They dont want to divulge the bugs, issues, and incompatibilities because it will look bad of their ROM. Its very unfortunate.
Anyway, I wouldnt flash your tab if I were you. Its just not worth it. I dont want to worry about my battery suddenly discharging in just 12 hours even when the unit is in sleep mode. Its a major issue and I recommend reading the huge thread about it. Its a mess.

So it looks like they both have working 2.2 builds out in the wild now. My question is which one is better, or which one are YOU going to use? Let's try and keep the comparison here, that way we don't clog up both of these wonderful dev's threads.
I have never used either since I'm still stock. What was the general consensus before their new 2.2 builds?
I wouldn't know. They both have a huge following though. What I have noticed is that each one has very loyal followers. It almost seems as if its "either one or the other". But since it is now 2.2, it is a completely different ball game.

Fair question, but somewhat irrelevant in my opinion. My experience with stock vs cooked ROMs (MT3G CM6) is that the only real advantage is better speed. Sure, a few different user-experience changes, but that's all. An the stock ROMs are far more stable.
My stock Vibrant is already plenty fast. I'm rooted and can use root-only apps. My Dolphin browser already displays Flash. JIT will make it technically faster, but will I actually notice..? What would Eugene or TeamWhiskey add to that...?
Have not tried either but am running fusion by team wiskey with there kernel. Phone runs to good to worry about 2.2.

This statement is very inaccurate. When was the last time you installed a bionix rom?
I'm running the 2.2 and it is flawless. 2.2 offers a lot of improvements over 2.1 besides flash. If you don't know what those are then you really shouldn't be giving uninformed information.

Which one looks like stock? Both? I really despise the all black theme I see on the 2.1 Bionix roms. It just looks tacky in some places like the notifications pull down and it's too black. I see Macnut looks kind of like stock.. no screenshots included with either tho. Either way I've downloaded Macnut and I will be installing it ASAP. I'll try the other 2.2 rom next..

2.2 is A VERY BIG update. I dont know about Vibrant, but it should improve battery, it should run faster due to JIT, it has MANY extra features, and its compatible with 2.2 apps (new Gmail, Chrome-to-phone, youtube, flash...etc). move to 2.3 is not that big
that said, i trust TW more then Eugene.
Personally I think it's too soon to be worried about which one is better for general use. I'd give it a little time for each to get some additional polish unless you just enjoy flashing roms all the time every time a new one comes out. Chances are there'll be bug-fixes and tweaks to both in the next few days. Wait for that and more feedback from the early adopters and then decide...
When I got my phone used it had Eugenes rom on it, but I felt Bionix and team Whiskeys roms have been the best roms besides CM.
Put it this way I have only donated to 2 developers, #1 CM and #2 Team Whiskey.

It isn't flawless. Calendar doesn't sync. Holding back results in a FC (new screenshot feature not implemented properly). I've had inconsistency in the market. Don't get me wrong, I'm using it and I like it, but don't throw the word 'flawless' around so easily.
If you remove screencapture.apk that fixes the back button long press fc and you need to install calendar(something).apk to fix sync issues..
It all comes down to personal preference. My experience with Eugene's 2.1 ROMs are that they're TOO skinned. I personally prefer Team Whiskey.
To answer your question about which looks more stock, Team Whiskey hasn't really skinned the Obsidian ROM all that much, so it basically looks like Stock TouchWiz.

there is a fix already for both
I was using Macnut R7 and was about to flash R9 but Team Whiskeys downloaded faster. The major difference between R9 and 7 is, wi fi calling, modem and working gps with some minor tweeks.
If that is true then my comparison won't be too far off.
The biggest difference between the too is that Team W is a near perfect leak of the official 2.2 rom and Eugene's has some mods like built lag fix and a modified version of T.W. which for the most part is better than stock (not perfect but better; in my opinion)
That should really be what makes you choose which one you want.
Secondary things to think about is that, whiskey roms are known for getting official ota's which is nice if you want to get the official with little work, but its still kinda glitchy and slower than Eugenes, but not in a bad way. If you are running stock without a lag fix then you won't notice much. Eugene's rom is highly modded and some stock things won't work like if you still have avatar on your sdcard, and since his is a port there are some remnants of I9000 and cappy things floating around that can throw you off. But it is less glitchy atm and too me looks better. It has a lightly themed Modified TW. But you can get and install that yourself if you want there is a link in the macnut thread.
Hope that helps. I'm Running tw's rom now but I'm going to check out R9.
Hey XDA,
Its been a long time since I last did anything with my phone. Used to run Baked Snack and some other ROMs that were on here. Got a replacement phone and have just been running stock froyo for the past 6 months or so. I can't believe how many roms there are now for the Epic! None of them look familiar either.
I've been getting an itch to start flashing again. I was hoping to get some suggestions for what I should try next. Are there any good ones that you might recommend? I've been following MIUI for a while but am worried about reliability. As you might guess, a stable rom is most important to me. Battery life, and clean looks are also important. I don't need fancy backgrounds or startup animations. Just something as close to barebones as possible.
Any suggestions will be appreciated--TIA!
Srf 1.2 then flash the genocide 2.0 kernel in the same flash session. I'm sure many will give you this suggestion

SRF 1.2 I use Revolted kernel w/it Sleek...clean...fast...no FCs. Many out there, but I'm stuck on this one. I think they're working on 1.3.
I like Go Green too, just the select menu was hard to read. But it's nice nonetheless. I think I ran that on EH17. SRF is EC05 based.
Anyhow...qbking77 has some great vids on youtube...there you can see how some of them look and work before trying them.

I agree, Simply AOSP v4, and v4.1 will be out this weekend. It has journaling on by default and will flash the kernel automatically
But in all fairness, there really isn't a bad ROM in the Epic forum.
If you want no problems and basic rooted stock then you want either ReRFS ROM or odin in EC05plus.

Gotta say..EC05 with SFR 1.2 and genocide.....i've flashed them all and for me this is the most stable
Whichever you decide, please read through the entire thread for that ROM in Development so you can see what issues might pop up and what was done to resolve them.
Bonsai 4.1.3 has been my go-to ROM. It's as close to perfect as I could imagine, really really stable, great battery life, and overall just reliable. It also does this without replacing your sounds with stupid robot noises, heavy metal guitars, or putting some ridiculous theme on your phone.
You'll have to google "epic 4g bonsai" to find the site, it's not available in the dev forums here.
I like stock for the most part, EH17
Though I have updated to EH17plus kernel

If you never use your 4G, then MIUI is the ROM for you. It's fast, stable, and energy-efficient despite all the "bugs" people ramble about. It's also very customizable and updates every Friday to ensure you always get the latest versions and bug fixes.

I can't wait to get my hands on a stable ICS rom. It will just give us EVO owners that much more shelf life.
Question, I know there is an Alpha for ICS in the works right now. Do the developers already have everything they need to develop the rom or does a phone like the Galaxy Nexus which will have ICS stock have to come out first?
As for a good current rom, I'm running Mik 2.61, very clean, stable and great battery life. It's a Sense rom, different themes are available.

Hello everyone,
I already have tried the following roms:
- Taboonay
- Flexreaper
- Lightspeed
- Icylicious
All them are considered stable releases but I got some bugs, all roms got particularities like: Can't install all apps, running slow, battery drain, slow fps, etc.
Maybe I've installed a wrong Kernel for these roms?
Which one do yours recommend to me? I'm looking for a stable rom and not many features.
Actually I've reverted to 3.2.1 using Thor Rom v14.2 and I was glad but this release is a kinda old and I still looking for updates, like chrome browser and some ICS new features.
I appreciate your help.
Thanks anyway
Use flex reaper 10 it has a modded or tweaked kernel but the others to my knowledge use pretty much stock kernel. I find flexreaperthe best as of now till acer has released ics for reals. I don't get bad fps except buttons on shadowgun and I'm an android gamer.

Give thors v96 ics a try. Other than the camera not working. It is very stable. V126 is a little rocky. I am waiting for the next update to give it another shot. I am running v96 again until then.
I'm using Flexreaper R10 by Civato and this rom is wonderful! Obviously, like every leaked version, has some bugs, but not too much and it's stable enough.
With tweaked kernel in R10 release the quadrant score is about 2700, not bad for a leaked..
Everything is working good, also the camera,it's not up to the best working but it's good enough
For more info take a look to civato's thread

I really like Lighspeed 4.3 + civato's tweaked kernel.... lag free combo.
As you can see what I am using, I like the Acer ring with mods with Acer print and lock screen, just watch out for Beta's. Use one that is one or two versions old, good luck

If you post something like this you need to give info on what apps and if you followed installation instructions TO THE LETTER.
I only got one app that closed not FC once a week and that is Asus Taskmanager , it doesn't crash just stops and restarts.
Just for information: From time to time, I had with FlexReaper some FCs with GPS apps, like Google Maps. Then I found out that the FCs were related to SetCPU, which I still had on my tab, although it was without function. After deinstalling SetCPU I never observed any FCs.
Best regards, maris
Most of the time if you are experiencing stability issues with these ICS ROMs is because of something else, whether it is an app that hasn't been optimized for ICS, or old junk from previous apps. Other causes could be a bad flash or some steps being left out when wiping a previous ROM. For the most part, if everything is done right, all the ROMS that these great chefs have cooked up are really solid. I never have issues with mine.

I'll have to agree so far I haven't had any constant problems with civato's roms. As of now their the best out there. From what I've experienced unless its in alpha or beta stages, something you did or didn't do causes your problems. even if its just an app you use or how you restore data.

Hi all,
I am the developer of SentinelROM, which is one of the most popular ROMs for Nexus 10, Nexus 7, Nexus 4 and HTC One X.
SentinelROM is compiled by me with modified CyanogenMod 10.1 code (additional tweaks for performance and battery life, as well as some theming). So far the ROM has been very successful.
I've decided to release the ROM for Samsung Galaxy SIII (i9300) also, but I need your help as I don't own a SGSIII to test with.
I am reaching out to anyone who would be willing to flash my test ROM and test a few things for me.
If you're interested, please PM me either here, or via the SentinelROM facebook page. I will reply with a download link and instructions.
I only need a few people for testing, so please don't be offended if I don't get back to you with a download link.
This ROM is for i9300 only at this stage, so please do not reply if you own an i9305 as the ROM will not work on your device.
Thanks in advance for your help.

Well everything is working as normal. I played about with the rom it is pretty stable. Everything works, and when i fell asleep unlike cm the battery never drained maybe about 3 percent drain overnight which is great. So the battery life on this rom is excellent. You're good to go with your rom. Sorry for the late reply i installed this around midnight. Used the rom and till about 2am and fell asleep. I am still using it. I must say overall it is a great rom. Thank you very much. I've not yet found a fault but maybe i might find one but that would be cm related.
For a beta rom this is really stable. Onlything maybe it isn't a big problem now but in the ota updater lol it doesn't recognize the device as MO.

sentinel rom v 4.5 for gt-i9300
Hello, Sentinel.
First of all I'd like to thank you for this truly amazing rom, there's so many things I can do with my phone and change almost everything I want to within it. I only found 1 issue which may not be an issue at all, I might still be a bit inexperienced with all this modding stuff, but I haven't found a way to overclock or undervolt my phone using your kernel, but I took a risk of using siyah kernel 1.9.1 which is said not to be compatible with 4.2.2 JB and basically all new roms that are out now, but the funny thing is IT DOES WORK! And I think that siyah 1.9.1 kernel and your custom sentinel rom is the best combo ever for my galaxy s3. The battery works great even when I overclock it, it's really stable and never glitching. I can say I'm a heavy consumer, wifi constantly on, and I'm playing psone games with and emulator alot and it still does a pretty decent job. On my next payday I'm definitely donating, buddy. And in a months time when s3 stock 4.2.2 JB will come out, I'd like to see what you can do with that one aswell.
Keep up the great work, best regards, Lietus.
