Hi,
I'm trying to boot into CWM. I can get into it from RomManager fine, but right now I'm stuck in a bootloop. The recovery menu (power+vol down) only gives one option - HBOOT.
How do I boot into CWM from there?
Try boot with home and power buttons held
Thanks, that worked!!
Turns out it was a DPI hacked that caused the bootloop.. is there a general DPI hack that can apply to any ROM? I'm on CG

When you use other DPI resolution setting on some roms...they end up in a boot loop...Sense for example can do these DPI modifications because you get problems with the rom... Use the rom on how it was created

I updated the Cyanogen Mod to 4.2.6, which worked fine. However, I then went into the Cyanogen Updater to get the Dark Dream 1.5 theme (not realizing that it is a theme for CM 4.2.5).
Now when I go to restart my phone, it gets hung up on the G1 screen. I can still get into the recovery screen, but it aborts everything I try, so I cannot wipe and re-install a ROM. I can get into the console, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for there. I can also get into the boot-loader screen, but am unable to do anything. HBoot Mode shows that there are a bunch of missing images and then pops me back to FastBoot screen. I am wondering if anyone can offer a suggestion on how to get my phone working again.

If you can into recovery you should be able to fix it by applying the cyanogen update again, if not use fastboot to restore a nandroid backup

While I can boot into the recovery mode, nothing seems to work. I try a wipe; comes up "Wipe Aborted." Same thing happens when I try to apply the update again.
I am going to see if I can re-install the cyanogen update from the console, as it seems like that is the only the working in the recovery mode. Unfortunately I don't have a nandroid backup to use. Thanks for the suggestion.
Which recovery image are you using?

You can download a nandroid image to fastboot of the official rom directly from HTC for the ADP1 phone. Download the Android 1.6 "System Image" from http://developer.htc.com/adp.html You may have to reinstall a custom recovery image afterwords. Then you can upgrade to any rom you want.
If you need to, you can download the latest recovery image here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566669 and install using the fastboot method.

If you did not flash a custom ROM, the stock images include (and flash upon boot) the stock recovery image.
Is it possible to flash roms directly from Rom Manager without having to start via recovery?
My question is because I cant start my phone in fastboot, recovery, bootloader etc. The screen turns all black if I try anything.
So in Rom Manager there is an option "Flash Rom from SD-card"...pretty much the same that you can see in recovery from clockworkmod. And if I click on it, then I can wipe data and cache also.
Is this a way to flash roms for me if I cant make it to recovery or start the phone in fastboot?
Yes you can flash roms directly from ROM Manager, that is how I do it atleast
nice, will test this! if it doesnt automaticly boots in recovery for the flashingprocess? Or does the rom manager creates a own recovery maybe?
It boots into Clockworkmod recovery I think

Yes it did! and cant boot into that!! Really this is a annoying thing for me!
And I cant run unrevoked again either because I cant boot into HBOOT, so cant install the android bootloader interface. AAAAHH!
Try installing a recovery from rom manager. If there is some problem with the original recovery, it might help. This works by placing the recovery image as 'update.zip' under your sdcard and rebooting. That will her flashed and HOPEFULLY you will have a working recovery.

I have tryied that! Or do I have to do something after that? With the update.zip? Run it via astro or something?

Ensure you have the update.zip directly under your sdcard and go for a normal reboot. It should flash it and take you to recovery mode.

Have that, and have tryed different versions on the recovery, still only black screen for me when trying this!
Have you tried pressing the power button when in the black screen? I was caught unawares when the recovery mod boot and stays in the cloclworkmod image and not go to the options. I have to press the power button to reach the recovery mod options. I have run out of ideas, sorry.

Thanks for the effort! Have tryed it like 100 times, but cant make it into recovery! Have to take the battery out and restart the phone in normal mode. Thats all I can do, and have tryed all different ways to make it into recovery.
(from rom manager, voldown+power), restart-->recovery, restart-->bootloader)
same results every time...maybe works if I get a new battery or new sdcard or something!
I would like to use "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754961" this method to make my gt540 get the ability to use ad-hoc network.but l tried to press home+power buttons,it just get in"safe mode".Can u guys tell me how to get in the recovery mode, thx.I'am using the official 2.1 20a rom from LG.
Stock rom doesn't have recovery
From XDA App
You will have to flash using a ROM that has fastboot enabled.
Recover mode isn't working for me either, black rom, 0.3.1 kernel, clockwork 2.5.0.5. Just a screen full of text scrolling. Any ideas?
to have recovery on your phone, you have to have a fastboot rom.
Black rom has fastboot. Tried Rom Manager and it seemed to 'try' to get into recovery but didn't, maybe a permission's thing or it doesn't work at all.
Flashed & wiped and the text problem still happened without trying clockwork so it wasn't clockwork causing the error. Bugger!
Hi I was on CM7 nightly and CWM 3.0.0.6. I could use volume down and power button to get bootloader/recovery. flashed IG 1.1.6, now pressing volume down and power doesn't bring up bootloader. what's wrong?

Go in Rom Manager you can see which you have installed from there hit and boot in to Recovery. For you best advice I can give is from Rom Manger 3.0.1.0 install the default Recovery 3.0.0.5 as you can switch between CM7 and IG with no problem.

thanks, I was able to reboot into recovery from rom manager. question is why volume down+power boot loader method was gone using IG rom?
my guess is that you have fastboot enabled so teh phone isn't really shutting down or fully rebooting.
Check settings-applications and see if its enabled.
