[Q] Problem with ZTE modem driver - Windows 8 General

Hi everyone
I installed Win8 a day ago.
However, I got in problem when I tried to configure my wireless internet, ZTE modem.
Device manager recognized "unknown devices", I installed all drivers needed, tried to add them manually, but no success.
I rollback to Windows 7.
Anyone has some tips?

you need to install with troubleshoot compatibility (right click on the file install).
but, then, metro apps don't work...
I will be happy, if someone can help whit that...
(sorry about the english)

Same problem here....

Anybody worked it out yet?
Tried to install the drivers only, but it didn't work

i found a way to install zte modem drivers.. its actually there in windows update... u just need alternate internet connection... I used wifi while connecting my usb modem to my windows 8 laptop... then just go to device manager and right click on all devices which show driver error and select update driver... when prompted, select automatically find best drivers... it will install the correct drivers... but u'll need separate internet connection for a while to do this...

ii tried it.. but somehow it didn't work out. since i found out that i'm not limited in bandwith i'm tethering

Problem with internet sharing

Ive tried to connect my Hero to my laptop to use it as a modem, but it isn't working. Ive tried to enable mobile network and internetsharing. Looks like I don't have the NDIS driver. How do I fix this. I have the newest version of htc sync.
Hi Killbox,
I tried for hours and hours to get it to work and couldn't so I gave up in the end.
I tried every driver I could, everything was set up to sync properly on my phone/laptop, NDIS driver installed. No joy.
Try getting hold of the WiFi Tether .apk file and install it on your Hero.....or install Modaco's Custom Hero Rom on your phone. It has WiFi Tether included and it's a damn quick rom
It's a piece of cake to use. Once installed on your phone, fire up the app and 'Start Tethering'. Once running, see if your PC will pick it up as a wireless network point. If it does, connect to it and you should be using your phones 3G network for the internet on your PC.
Job done!

If the NDIS driver isn't loaded, you will have a device called "Android Phone" in Device Manager. You need to manually update the driver with the NDIS driver, which can be found wherever you installed HTC sync (in my case, C:\Program Files\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Vista_x86).
Regards,
Dave
I tried to reinstall the driver from device manager by choosing update manually. It said the newest driver was allready installed. I tried to install Modaco, but I just got error messages so I gave up. Is it really impossible to share internet?
Works fine here with orange updated Rom, do what Dave said, as I couldn't get it to work until I went rooting around the HTC folder, 1 thing though my HTC sync never works unless I reboot my phone and sync straight after startup.
Now I have installed the Modaco rom, but it still won't work. Have tried to update the driver in the device manager without success. The tether program won't work either.
Im using PDANet 1.16 with Android for tethering, works flawlessly, give it a try.

Windows 7 x64 USB Tethering

Hi,
It seems that I've searched everywhere and tried everything, but I'm unable to get USB tethering to work.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my understanding of how it should work between Windows 7 64bit and Typhoon's CM7 Android running on the HTC HD2:
Phone Side:
Wired tethering is already available as an option, so simply enable USB tethering by ticking Settings -> Wireless and network settings -> Tethering & portable hotspot -> USB tethering
Windows Side:
Install the correct ADB driver for the HTC HD2. Does this create a new network adapter? I'm assuming a internet connection starts automatically as soon as tethering is enabled on the phone (and this runs via the network adapter)
When I connect the phone via USB, windows is unable to automatically find a driver. Apparently windows already comes prepackaged with a RDNIS driver, but this doesn't seem to work. The phone shows up in device manager under "Other devices" and is listed as "ADB" with a yellow exclamation mark. Where do I find the correct driver to use, and what happens after I've installed the driver. Is it true that the process is automatic, or do I need to right click on the installed adapter and click connect?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated,
Regards,
XA83
Hi guys. Would really appreciate some tips on this one.
Is nobody using USB tethering on Win7 64?

Hey. I haven't been able to get native USB teathering to work. U can use a app to make it work that seems to be the only way as of now. If you search my posts I posted the apk file.

In the past I've had to search on google for the ADB driver but cannot remember where i found it since I couldnt find it again but a friend just brang their desire hd over and windows 7 found the driver straight away, do u know anyone who would borrow u their android device?
dunno if this helps
http://developer.android.com/sdk/win-usb.html
Thanks for the replies.
I've already installed the Google USB driver (from the developer site listed above). The phone shows up and the ADB driver is installed.
I've also tried installing the wired tethering apk from google apps. It is currently at version 1.4.
HOWEVER, I still don't understand how this is supposed to work as the ADB driver is not listed under networking devices. Surely you need a network driver to able to establish a connection. What am I not understanding?
Regards,
XA83
Hey, just built a new PC for a friend and tried sharing my internet connection using easytether which didnt work because the pc didnt have the correct adb driver. My friend then installed HTC Sync (for her Desire HD) and windows found an adb driver in there. Now the native tethering & easytether on my phone works.
Now I'm not too sure if htc sync has ANYTHING to do with this, or if the driver was downloaded from her desire hd (usb was plugged in already) but I guess you could try downloading htc sync and see what happens.

[Solution] Android MTP driver install error with KIES 2.x I9100 (Galaxy S2)

Hi all,
Yesterday I stayed till 3 AM trying to flash the new firmware to my 9100, but KIES was so unstable that I decided to re-install.
We all know if we simply install Kies under XP, there is an issue with an Android MTP driver failing to install. No matter what you do, it won't install. This is the driver that Kies requires to work in order to sync contents and flash new firmwares.
After trying different options and settings, the solution is quite simple. Follow the steps (XP tested):
1.- Remove Kies entirely.
2.- Remove Samsung USB Drivers
3.- Reboot.
4.- Install latests .NET framework.
5.- Download and install latest Windows Media Player (ver 11 for XP). This is the key, since it installs a User mode driver framework used by Kies.
6.- Reboot
7.- Download and install latest Kies. Reboot.
6.- Plug in your phone. It will detect everything.
8.- Start Kies.
This should make it.
Hope it helps!
Cherni.
I had Rooted and Custom ROM-ed with AOSP GingerMOD.
Then when connected to PC via cable, W7 failed to install MTP driver.
Heres what worked.
Turn off USB Debugging on the phone. Reconnect via USB storage mode.
Voila!
Am not using Samsung Kies. so dont know whether it will work with the same trick.

He said version 11 for xp lol.
BTW, for those of you with windows 7 enterprise N - The "N" means no multimedia drivers, so media player would not be enough.
You need to download some 300+MB package which I don't remember the name. and then media player.
I meant W7!
Well I just tried this and it didn't work, am losing hope here...I already tried everything and nothing works

All this started when I updated from version 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 through KIES
Hi, were you able to solve? I'm stuck at the same point, tried almost everything and i'm still getting the MFT driver error with my Galaxy S 2.
OS is WinXP 32bit, I tried before with Kies version 2.0.3.11082_152_2, then yesterday with 2.0.3.11082_152_4, no luck.
I tried the suggested Windows Media Player 11 procedure, i did the whole process as written in the 1st post (installed .net 4, then WMP11, then reboot, then Kies, then reboot again) and it didn't worked.
Before that i tried with USB debugging mode, i tried following what Kies says (connect device, got the error, disconnect the device then go to "tool -> the crap that should be supposed to repair drivers but that truly does nothing", then reconnect the device just to get the error again), I tried a tool i found somewhere on the internet while reading HUNDREDS of pages of users having the same error (Samsung engineers, that means that you really SUCK!) "FileSearcherforKiesFix" to find files with long extension on my SD, deleted some files (was only some thumbnails), NOPE, still getting the same F****n' error
So, were you able to solve in some way this error? How?
Thank you for your help, and sorry for my english (i'm Italian).
and if that doesn't work...try a different USB port on your computer. I have found that only one of the 4 on my t410 thinkpad plays nicely with the samsung usb drivers...
having said that, i have sworn off kies entirely and will only use Odin,
I'm on the Galaxy SII and was having similar problems. Went to the samsung website, DLed the USB driver, then to get the MTP to work: Turn off Debugging, go into "wireless and network", then into USB Utilities, unplug usb, click connect to PC, then plugged it back in, and bingo, we have a winner.
I didn't read the entire thread to see if this method was already posted, to f'ing tired!
Hopes this helps.
edit: looks like Kragusk did a similar (exactly the same?) install. So yeah, what he said....
the fix
This fix for windows XP was discovered by a chap named Dennis.
The problem is caused by some drivers from WMP11 failing to install correctly.
(WMP11 contains the MTP drivers, nothing to do with Samsung or USB drivers)
You just need to re/install them
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\wudfrd.sys xxx_wudfrd.sys
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\wudfpf.sys xxx_wudfpf.sys
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfhost.exe xxx_wudfhost.exe
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfsvc.dll xxx_wudfsvc.dll
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfx.dll xxx_wudfx.dll
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfplatform.dll xxx_wudfplatform.dll
rename C:\WINDOWS\system32\wudfcoinstaller.dll xxx_wudfcoinstaller.dll
Then run this file (umdf.exe) found inside the windows media player 11 install
(Hint: download then open in winrar to find the file)
Sorry as a new person I can't post a hotlink to a file.

This not only cures Kies, but almost all other Media Player connection problems as well!

Go to Samsung Kies software, on top left of the window, click the menu > Driver recovery.
Let it reinstall drivers
After driver installation finished, go to your phone, Settings> Application > Development, tick USB debugging mode.
Under USB debugging mode connect your phone to the PC with USB.
It installs correctly!
Disconnect from PC
Untick USB debugging mode
Connect again
and it works!

ADB drivers not working

Hello. I received the phone today. I had a rooted desire HD before this.
My windows 7 is newly installed so I had to install 32bit/64bit java SDK, and android SDK. I downloaded the usb drivers, the platform tool package and so on.
The problem is that, although the USB debugging is turned on on the G.Note, windows won't recognize it as a ADB Android Phone. Under 'devices' I can see:
- CDC Serial
- SAMSUNG_Android
Both with a "!" : needing drivers.
ADB is correctly installed, and if I type 'adb devices' in the prompt, no serial number of any device is displayed. If I try to start the root procedure (through the .bat file), WAITING FOR DEVICE : it just doesn't find the phone and nothing starts.
I tried searching manually for the driver: device - properties - SAMSUNG_Android - find driver manually - extra\google\usb-driver ...... but it doesn't install it !
I didn't have these problems with the desire HD....as long as the phone is not recognized as a Android Phone (without "!")....I can't start the root procedure !!
What am I doing wrong ??
Oh and also:
- tried changing USB port
- rebooted both systems
- uninstalled the 'SAMSUNG_android' device, then plugged it in again....same thing, not recognized as Android Phone
have you tried to install Kies?
i think i am stupid...that's the equivalent of htc sync right? i'll try again and hope that it will make the difference.
yeah, it should install the
right drivers. after that, be sure kies is closed properly in order to use odin.

[Q] wifi??

For an extremely long amount of time I have tried figuring out why my wifi wasn't working in Windows 8. I finally narrowed it down to the fact that the Wireless card doesn't have the correct drivers. So I go to download the new drivers and when I try to install it won't let me. All it says is I have the wrong version. Even when trying to install in Windows 7 Compatibility mode.
So I simply came to ask, is there a way to force a driver to install?
Or has anyone figured out how to install these drivers?
I have an HP Folio 13 1020us with an Atheros and Broadcom Wifi Cards
Thank you for your time!

Extract the installer package, most manufacturer's driver packages have installers that are just wrappers around the real installer. Extract your driver package and run it's setup in compatibility mode. Worst comes to worse, update your driver manually by extracting and selecting the folder containing the inf files in device manager.
