My nook only shows my external SD card and no internal 8gb memory ( I bought it used running cm7 off of eBay)did I lose it? Or do it not have 8gb memory at all?
Sent from my SGH-I997 using XDA App
It depends but you would have at least 1GB.
You can make it having 5GB available.
I was previously on CM7 but decided to revert back to stock. Currently running version 1.0.1, and the internal storage shows I have "0.00B free of 0.00B" for "available storage." How did I lose this 8 GB of storage or whatever is suppose to be available here? More importantly, how do I go about acquiring that internal storage? Did it get blown away when I rooted and flashed CM7? Did it go away when I went back to stock?
Any advice on how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

This is rather confusing....did I get an old model with no internal? Or did it disappear with all of the Tom Flashes?

Is nook a blue dot nook that came with 1.2 on it. Have you tried repartitioning or updating to1.2

I have no idea if it's one that had the blue dot or not on it. How do you repartition it so that the partitions as just like stock? I'm currently running CM7 on it (again), and I would really love to get this back to just plain stock with the partitions configured the way they should be.

I have the same problem. I tried rooting my NC and made a mistake and wanted to return to BN factory settings. So I flashed an image of the 1.01 version I found online and everything seemed OK but I now it shows 0 Available Storage. I want to upgrade to 1.3 and can't see how to do it with no visible internal storage. Any ideas on what I might try next?

I did an 8x interrupted reboot, which put me back to the original state I bought it in with firmware 1.2 installed. Could the problem be I had the wrong firmware for the device?
Still, I only see 1GB of internal memory. I think this is what it said when the device was new. Is this a problem? I know there are 8GB in there.

It is correct.
With stock FW 1.2 , you only see 1GB of /media.
That's the way it is
My best guess is that several of you are trying to flash obsolete stock images on newer 5GB /data, 1GB /media partitioned NCs. In the OP's case, perhaps an outdated version of ClockworkMod Recovery was used to flash CM7 (older versions don't know what to do with the newer partitioning).
You need to make a current CWM card:
eyeballer said:
Download 1gb CWM 3.2.0.1 sdcard image from here. MD5 of .zip: 1319739d33642ed860e8044c3d55aa56. (I made this based on work in this thread. credit: to cmstlist and DizzyDen, and kevank for hosting). You really only need the 1gb image ... no matter what the size of your card is. A smaller image will burn faster, and when you're done with the guide you can reformat the card anyway.

If you want to repartition to 1GB /data, 5GB /media, see this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1094371
And here is a CWM-flashable stock 1.3 image (will also return recovery to stock): http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30572895/Nook_Color/update-nc-stock-1.3.zip
And a version that will just flash the 1.3 stock ROM, leaving recovery alone: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/30572895/Nook_Color/update-nc-stock-1.3-keepcwm.zip
Both are from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253525
If you don't want stock, just flash the ROM you do want. Format /system /data and /cache in CWM "mounts and storage" before you flash a new ROM (install zip from sdcard > choose zip from sdcard).

hope someone can help me ASAP. i was under the impression that my SD card would allow me to run CM7, but it wont. and i don't really want to go and buy another one.
so i have a few questions.
first, can i restore the nook color completely to stock to the point where if i had to return it for warranty reasons it would be good.
secondly, does CM7 from the internal memory run good/just as well/better than the SD card.
third, how large is the /data partition for apps if you install to the internal memory.
hope someone can respond asap. thanks in advance.
1. yes
2. better
3. it's your choice, by default B&N NC v1.2 comes with 5GB /data while the previous version of NC comes with 1GB /data. You can choose to have 1GB, 2GB or 5GB

thanks, and for 3, if i install CM7, how do i get the 5GB /data? because that would be best, i don't want to run out of space like on my nexus one.
3. CM7 has nothing to do with it. What you're looking for is the re-partition/re-format the system.
Note: 5GB /data is way way way more than enough for Android apps.
Note: /data is for the installed apps, it's not the storage that you can put your mp3, pictures, ...., just be clear.

little confused then, only devices i've ever messed with are phones, so this is new to me. is there anything i have to do to make sure i get the 5gb data, or do i just get that when installing CM7.
And i've been around for a while so i know that 5GB is an insane amount and more than enough, but it's always good to have more than enough.
Do you know yet how your NC is currently partitioned? Most recent Nooks have the 5GB /data, indicated by a blue sticker on the box. To confirm, go to Settings>About NookColor (that may not be exact--haven't had stock in a while). If it indicates less than 1GB storage, you have 5GB /data.

As I mentioned in previous post, if your NC is prior to v1.2.0, then you should "automatically" has 1GB /data. If your NC is v1.2, then you would have 5GB /data, meaning, it's default shipped products from B&N.
If you want to have 5GB /data
a. if your NC is v1.2 then you don't have to do anything.
b. if your NC is an earlier version, then you can re-partition to have 5GB /data
looks like i have the 1.2, i see a blue circle sticker on the back and in the unit i have 1.2 software and 1GB of available storage.
thanks for everything guys now to get CM7 on it.
I had CM7.1 installed onto the microSD (verygreen's method) and also had MIUI on emmc.
Today I decided to the unusable MIUI and install CM7 to emmc. Installation went fine but post installation of CM7(emmc) I booted into my SD CM7 to do a TB to restore onto emmc but it couldnt read/find the supposed SD(i.e. mmcblk1p4)
Next up I tried NookColor UMS. It mounts emmcblk1p1 as boot and I can add/remove files but the emmcblk1p4 gets mounted as a removable drive that "needs to be formatted".
(P.S. I did try mmcblk1p2/p3 but couldn't see anything in them either. I assumed they must be ext and since I'm on win7 I cant view them)
How do I get the emmcblk1p4 to mount/read?
thanks!
Did you use the same sd card to install CM7 to the emmc as you used for CM7?

Here's what I did:
1. Reboot into recovery. (Emmc CWM, not verygreen's installer.)
2. Unmount/remove SDcard.
3. Wipe/data factory reset.
4. Insert/ mount SDcard
5. Install zip from SDcard.
6. Choose zip and confirm
I know when we do a wipe data/factory reset then the sd-ext partition is formatted and that would delete any one of my CM7 SD partitions so I removed SD before this step.
Could it be that during flashing something happened to mmcblk1p4?
I had no ideas about the various methds for emmc install. I thought this was the standard procedure. Please tell me how to recover. Also if possible can you tell which would be the best method for doing something like this?

As I stated in my previous post..the CWM is emmc while have 2 copies of CM7 (sdcard- verygreen and the normal emmc). And CWM recognises emmcblk1p1 as sd-card. So I put ROMs there.
And my emmcblk1p4 can't be read.

It's not difficult. Just follow these threads below.
First install CM7 to emmc per this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12797652
Then install CM9 to SD per this thread (just substitute CM9 for CM7 in the instructions):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12240928
Also you need to use my updated generic image file instead of the one in the link above. Get it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23153010
If you want to use both systems with the same SD card so you don't have to swap cards all the time, follow these instructions:
After you have installed both of these systems, go to CM7 and using root explorer, edit the file vold.fstab in /etc. There will be a line there that includes 'sdcard auto' (without the quote). Change that to 'sdcard 4'. Save and reboot. Now both CM7 and CM9 will share the same media sdcard space. No need to swap cards between systems.
Also to determine which system boots, hold the n key while nothing and a boot menu will come up. Use it to select which system you want to boot to.

Why?
BTW, emmc and internal storage are the same thing.
edit: There are some really old threads that tell you how to repartition the nook so that you can have two systems on emmc. But that is no longer recommended due to many issues, including updating is difficult and repartitioning is risky.
edit2: If you are thinking you can install a system to the media partition of emmc ("internal storage"), it's not possible. The only way to get two systems internally (ie., without using an SD) is to repartition. The existing media partition is deleted and new system partitions are created to accommodate the new system files and then a new smaller media partition is recreated. But that is a very non-standard installation and most update- zips will not work with that setup. You have to use specially modified versions.

Look at my edit2 above. That "internal storage" shown is just a partition of emmc (/data, which is part of emmc where your system data and apps are stored). And other systems cannot be installed there.
Why are you against SD installs?
edit: Just a little educating, emmc means Embedded MultiMedia Card. It is where everything is stored internally. It is partitioned into several partitions, /system, /data, /cache, and others. It creates a media partition to store your media and it calls that "emmc" on that picture you posted. and it calls the /data partition "internal storage". Very confusing for noobs.

No, see my edit above.
Edit: But you can change the size of each by repartitioning. The old nooks came with a 1GB /data and a 5GB /media. The newer nooks come with 5GB /data and 1GB /media. Looking at your picture you have the old nook.

That is if you install a usb drive by attaching a special adapter and plugging in a usb flash drive.
If you want both CM9 and CM7, I highly recommend the scheme I listed in my first reply. It's what I use and it works great.

After thinking about it, I would recommend reversing which is on emmc and which on SD. You will not be updating CM7 very often and likely updating CM9 a lot. It is easier to update emmc, so I would put CM9 on emmc and CM7 on SD.

I tried to search, but found no answer...
Yesterday I rooted my stock NC with MN5.08.20. I finally decided today to flash cm7.2 (which seems to be stable, judging after the forum discussions) to fully "unleash the FORCE" of my NC because I'm very angry: I cannot fully use the /data folder. I mean, I can put there my books/music, but I can't read them. So, I have only one issue not solved yet: will I be able to fully use the 5GB of internal storage with cm7.2? Is there a menu/option or a box to check which allows mounting the internal storage as visible and usable? Will I be able to read the books deposited there?
Or does the cm7.2 repartition the device with 1gb /data and 5gb /media? If not, please recommend me a ROM which does this thing.
Please answer me!
Thanks in advance!

CM7 does not re-partition anything. You are a little confused about /data and /media. All books and other media must be stored on the /media (emmc in CM terms) or on your sdcard. /data is only used for storing applications. So if you are using a root file manager to put books there, no application on any ROM will be able to read them.
The older Nook Colors had a different partition scheme than the newer ones. They had 1GB /data and 5GB /media. The newer ones have them reversed so that more application space and less media space is available. Dean Gibson has a thread in the general forum that tells you how to repartition the newer Nooks back to the old scheme. So, if you have the newer Nook and you want more internal media space go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14101197
thanks a lot
Already read the thread... But how do I do the MANDATORY REBOOT INTO RECOVERY? Do i have to reboot from cwm, let the device boot completely, open ROM Manager and select REBOOT INTO RECOVERY?
CWM is recovery. Some cwm activities require a reboot and you want to get back to cwm to do the next required step. That's why there is a reboot recovery command in cwm. Otherwise, just get to CWM and you are in recovery. Unless, of course, you are using TWRP, in which case, TWRP is recovery.
I've updated to .253 with all the wipes last week and today I discovered I only have 16 Gb of internal memory now.
Has anybody encountered the same issue? What can cause such a problem? And how can I solve it?
I've been getting this issue but some reason, I'm not limited to 16, I'm limited to 22? I'm not sure.
Is the same information as the picture, if you check memory with a file explorer(Es file explorer for example)? On a computer what is the situation with memory?

I noticed it on a computer initially. It showed 16 Gb instead of 32 Gb.
Now it shows something even worse! Total irrelevance.
It is absolutely illogical. In file explorer? What about if restart your phone? Any differents?
No difference, reloading doesn't change anything.
I'm so puzzled.
Also getting this issue @ 16GB internal storage.
FWIW i'm using the XPower 3 debloat with the .253 kernal.
@jufofu, What will show if despite the small remaining space, continue to copy more information in the internal memory? Whether it will continue to collect more data in memory, which means just bad reporting of information on available memory ? Maybe factory reset or repair with Xperia Companion. If problem still there, then the option is service. If you decide to do this, copy your information from phone to computer before this steps.
@Poag, was the problem there on the previous firmware? Do you have any ideas about its origins?
@Monipeev, it doesn't copy files from PC when the small memory is filled.
I will try to flash it again this week. If it doesn't work properly I'll have to restore TA backup and go the the service.
To be honest, i can't remember. I just flashed .224 from Flashtool wiping everything and TWRP reports only 8GB for internal.....booting into system atm....
Would someone with a 32GB internal mind posting a df?

How did you go about fixing this?
I have the same problem.
So this is supposedly a bug in .253? I'm glad that it can be solved by reflashing.
@MattyCurrann, you too got this problem after flashing .253?
So i
1- Downloaded the UK Customised 224 in Flashtool - XperiFirm
2- Flash this wiping everything in the 'Wipe' box.
3- Booted into Fastboot and flashed the .253+TWRP kernal listed in the XPower thread post #312
4- Booted in system and then set about resetting up the device from TitaniumBackups.

nope, NOT a bug in .253,
afaik it's been there on Lollipop as well,
existed on Lollipop firmwares, 185, 224, 253 MM firmwares
(I got it too on Z5).
It sometimes occured during flashing Firmwares via XperiFirm + Flashtool or flashing new ones via TWRP,
really weird "bug"
There is another thread regarding this bug:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/help/how-storage-t3398804/post67849319#post67849319
You can fix it without flashing anything - if you have TWRP recovery, just Repair /data partition in Wipe menu. If that doesn't help, try Repairing /system partition (that helped in my case).
Another cases of the same issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605/post67317647
Edit: posted it without refreshing the page, basically the previous post covers it all.
flashtools sucks nowadays!
Repairing didn't help, but resizing /data works perfectly. I've got my memory back.

A little "how to" would be nice.
EDIT:
As TWRP kept giving me Errror 4. I did figure out what it meant by that.
It needs manual handling (answering questions) in cli.
I went on with "adb shell" on my computer while the device was started up in TWRP/recovery mode.
There I unmounted everything, and then I ran this command from adb shell:
Code:
e2fsck -f /dev/block/mmcblk0p42
There I had to answer a bunch of questions about orphaned inodes and other corruptions. (Tookl a while to answer them all. I could have used "-y").
Once done, the fs was marked as clean, and the rezise command in TWRP worked flawlessly. Problem solved.
Strange that it had so many corruptions/orphaned inodes, considering it was a new fresh flash made just recently with flashtool.
how did you update your phone?
