hey everyone, my sister wanted me to root/install a new rom on her droid 2 which i did however i made the mistake by loading clockwork mod, and tried installing the rom and theme through CWM and now the phone just stays stuck at the Motorola droid 2 screen, i tried booting back to recovery and wiped everything but nothing works (it keeps booting into CWM when i enter recovery mode also) please help!
Try SBFing the latest fireware 2.3.20
Its really easy
If it still doesn't work instead of doing in on the windows tutorial
do SBF for linux
I think my phone bricked too. It wont get off the m screen
Use koush's bootstrap to install things on the D2 us and your sister will thank you.

so i figured everything out and as i was about to flash sbf 2.3.20 i got the dreaded batt low cannot proceed and i don't have a spare battery or battery charger FML...
So I decided to give Tranquility a test and see how it compares to my currently running ApeX. I followed the usual procedures, data wipe/factory reset.....twice.
then installed TranQ and the TranQ App update.
The phone then boots up and freezes on the animation screen. So i reset it, then it won't boot at all past the Logo screen. Randomly it decides to boot up fine, but then 30 seconds of android and it reboots and freezes up.
So for some reason it won't let me boot into clockwork recovery, so i decide to just do the system only SBF it and be done.
So I've SBF'd it twice now, the first time it did a random restart and froze, and also kept the tranq boot animation. I did the 2nd sbf and it's got rid of the animation screen and back to droid, however the tranq boot logo is there.
I haven't proceeded to reactivate the phone yet, and just leaving it alone it hasn't restarted itself. I'm planning on rerooting and reinstalling clockwork recovery and see if i can get one of my old backups going.
But, any theories to what would have jacked it up so bad? and why the stock moto logo wasn't put back when SBF'ing?
update:
rerooted just fine using Z4, installed clockwork recovery just fine too.
Right now I'm doing a data wipe and reinstalling ApeX 1.3.1 from scratch from clockwork recovery. Then I'm gonna restore one of my backups.
Hopefully all goes well
update:
recovered to my backup just fine. Still didn't get rid of the tranq boot logo, thankfully i had a zip stored away of the stock logo so I installed that.
All is now well in the world.
Lesson from this......if it's working fine, leave yo sht alone!
Logo is stored in different place then a system sbf will update. That's not tranQ 's fault. I still use gummyJar though. Too much blur in TranQ for me
I had the exact same problem when I went from fission to tran q. I literally had to do the. 320 sbf then the. 340 sbf to get tran q to install right. Didn't like it and put fission back on
yea i had to do the same thing comming from fission, and because of it i am just staying on tranquility until Obsidian is more stable, then GOODBYE BLUR :-D
The trick to installing TranQ is to install it over stock. If you try to install it over another custom ROM you will have nothing but problems.

I feel your pain, but you shouldn't be discouraged (as long as you Nandroid, Nandroid, Nandroid!).
I also spent a week fiddling with TranQ before giving up due to random reboots. But I went ahead and installed GummyJar. It was worth it!
When you're ready to climb back onto the horse, you should try GummyJar. If you prefer a no-bur ROM, it's probably the best in terms of speed and stability.
well i had tried Gummy before, but it was a little buggy for me. Phone would restart after calls, hardware buttons wouldn't always work and a few other little things.
I actually just switched to Fission and it's pretty brilliant thus far. No problems at all, and the fission manager helps a lot

IT IS TranQ's fault. It is the only ROM that does this. Before you get rid of Tranq, you have to go in to the tools and set your boot logo back to stock. I have flashed many different ROMs and it is the ONLY ONE that makes sure to "leave its mark," LITERALLY.
had same problem when I went from fission. I had to sbf .32 then sbf .34 then did the tran q and it worked just fine after that. I didn't like it to much so I went back to fission. To get rid of the tran q I just did the same sbf method I did and went back to fission.

You're right on w/this..Its too bad I found out the hard way..
So Ive been running my Milstone ( droid) x on liberty 2.0 I bought the toolbox today and saw there was a Gingerbread .5 build. Not able to resist I dl and installed. Ive been looking at the boot screen for about 4 hrs now. I cannot get into anything but the stock recovery. I also cannot find sbf files for ntelos. I could really use some help here guys as Ive got a date tomorrow and my X is the only way to get ahold of her! (NTM I FING LOVE my phone, and have been going crazy for the past four hrs without an xbmc remote)
Vzw sbf wont work because the milestone x is on the nTelos network. As far as i know there is no way to make it work on ntelos once youve sbf'd to vzw
so far this is what i know
"As of now, there are NO public sbf files from nTelos for any device. The reason being is because the in store people are taught just enough to use the tools and tech support use then but no damn well better to not give them out. Each one is encoded with a PC ID meaning if one did leak, ntelos could locate when, where and who leaked it." -cfultz at nTelosdroid.com
So im wondering if theres a way to go to a backup ive made. I cannot seem to get anything to come up but stock recovery. It used to start into bootstrap recovery everytime , now just the stock. Not sure what my next step should be.
Can you try booting into CWM manually?
It can be done by pulling the battery and booting up while plugged into a charger, or
Booting while holding the volume down button
ive tried it, no dice. It just sits at the liberty boot logo
with no battery in it boots to the battery charge logo with a ?
So I had no option but to go to ntelos and plead with them. They sbf'd me back to stock. Tried to convince them to let me get a copy of the file but that didn't happen. Of well thanks for all the help guys.

I guess I should start my saying, I'm a noob. So I upgraded my Droid X from 2.2 to the rooted .596. It worked fine, but I found it to be a little sluggish so I decided to go back to 2.2. So I did something I knew was probably a terrible idea, but I have a tendancy to be a little hardheaded. I booted into recovery and restored a backup I had of 2.2 and rebooted. Needless to say, it stuck at the M logo. I've tried rebooting but it just sticks at the red M every time. After it sticks, I can take out the battery and turn it back on and it loads the recovery. I hope it's fixable cuz if not, my wife is guna kill me. Lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
Hahaha. Its ok. But you will learn from your mistake. You are going to have to do a sbf on your phone. It is not that difficult but it is a pain in the butt. Google search "how to sbf the DROID x to froyo".
There will be a few things you need yo download.
1) newest Motorola drivers
2) a program called RSD lite.
3) the .sbf file itself.

Hell Yeah!!!
Flashed the sbf a couple times to no avail. Did a little searching, only to find I was using an outdated sbf. Booted into recovery, wiped data/factory reset and wiped cache, pulled battery and put it back in, booted into bootloader, flashed new sbf, switched to system recovery and wiped data/factory reset and wiped cache, then rebooted and... Tada!! I am now the happiest mother****er on the planet! God I love technology (and the people that know how to use it). I owe you a beer, boss! *pushes Thanks button*
Hello folks,
I am really angry at the moment.
I wanted to do a backup of my system. I have CM7 1.5 installed, and had the Clockworkmod as boot manager too. Installed "Droid 2 bootstrap", accepted the SU-Rights request after installation and my Defy made a restart. I exspected to get into the screen of the CMW again and I could do a Backup....
BUT: It does nothing. I only see the Bootlogo (red circle with white M), I can boot into Motorola Bootloader or in an oldschool Android Bootmanager.
Do you have any suggestion? Otherwise I will wipe my system again to Froyo, and throw it to Ebay. I am done with all this updating problems I have to face with, I really start to hate Motorola so much. A friend of mine uses a Nexus S and there not one of the problems I always get confronted with ever occured. Support is also something completly different looking at the update politics. But this is not the point, just tell me please if there is anything I can do to get it started again?
Thanks Chris
PS: RSD Lite gets connection with the Motorla Bootloader, could I try to replace something via RSD light? Or just wiping and installing Froyo again?
EDIT: OK, forget it. Installed FROYO again. As always with the crap from Motorola, it is nothing new to me any more.
