Dear all expert,
I'm looking for the call record app for my Atrix 4G but no luck.
I tried many app but they can't record the call (although they work well on Optimus 2x).
Could you please suggest some app for Atrix?
Thanks

I believe Motorola has loccked down the ability to do this, most likely to avoid legal issues. Only way I can suggest to do this at the moment would be if you can find a private space, make your call on speaker phone, and use another device to record.
On thinking, there is always the possibility you could connect the headphone jack on the Atrix to the audio card on your PC/laptop, then record with your PC. I believe this is possible, but it would take a wee bit of work to make it happen. You would effectively place the call on your phone, and talk/listen through your computer whilst recording audio. Might also be possible via bluetooth or wifi.
Google voice has a built in call recording feature. Not sure if is important that the call comes to/from your att number.

In order to record your call, simply press 4. You can do it when you first accept a call, or any time after it's started. To stop the recording, press 4 again or hang up.

So... what if I'm recording something like a tech support call and need to press 4 during navigation?
CaelanT could be correct on this one, at least for most of the apps. You really gotta be careful with call recording. It's not necessarily legal to do in some states unless both parties consent to the recording.
Older phones had this feature except it would beep to notify on the other end, my sgs 2 however records silently... like a ninja.

Does anyone know of any app for phone conversation recording wher you can record the other person without turning on speakerphone?
I have a mini and always record phone calls for taking down job address for work, I can hear the whole conversation very clear when played back.
I just use the normal "Notes Record Function" on the phone.
I think it depends on the rom or could be the different phones as I know when I had an XDA II I couldn't do it, if I pressed record I could only hear myself and not the person on the phone.
that's it
Thanks seal for your reply, but in fact if I do as you say I can only hear my voice and ver, very low the other person's. I tried other software but with the same result. I don't know if there is a software specific for it.

Resco Audio Recorder works
doesn't work
Thank you for the suggestion but it doesn't work as I need. Again, I can only record my own voice not whom I am hearing. I don't know if it is a hardware problem. Let me know hwat you guys know about it.
You have to turn the speaker on, first.
then try using the recorder... you dont have any other choice.
you may wonder why is that??
It's because the device has two processors.. one of them in the Xscale.. and is used to run everything but the stuff regarding the phone...
there is another chip used as a mini processor for running the phone stuff...
I guess there is no inner circuit between both processors... so recording directly is impossible....
cheers
thanks
Despite the bad news thanks anyway.
use vito sound explorer
Hi guys
I use Vito Sound Explorer. It works fine for me. Except when I need to record conversion. while on the line. I had to press one of the buttons which I have mapped. so that recording starts. the sound quality is good.
I don't find that annoying.. one press of a button.

does vito sound record the other person's voice, without turning on speakerphone?
You may also want to read http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=513&more=1 on this subject - it gives a nice overview of what you can expect from PPC PE devices and what applications there're to (even automatically) record phone calls.
Hi,
I'm looking for a too that allows me to assign a hardware button of choice that starts/stops recording an phonecall.
I'm really looking for a lightweight tool that can do it.
I know notes can do that, but that takes too much actions to start recording.
I just want to be able to record a phoneconversation quickly as soon as I think I need to record it.
Thanks in advance
how can one record conversation in notes?
what is the procedure?
I still didn't findany tool as requested in the initial post.
Any ideas?
why do you expect an answer to your question when youre not answering yourself?
1. I don't know the answer to your question (I saw it somewhere else on the forum tough)
2. Your question is offtopic.
Btw, you didn't answer on my question either.
Please help me out if you have the answer to my question.
In your first post you said that you know how to record a phonecall using notes but that takes too much actions to start recording.
And then I ask you how to perform that and now you say that you don't know how to do it.
I'm sorry but I don't know the answer to your question but you know the answer to my question.

No sorry, in the first post I said that i KNOW it's possible with notes but I don't know that procedure (not interested in that procedure either).
I'd like to start recording phonecalls with a single press on a hardware button.
Still I didn't find an answer on that.
Maybe some else please....

It does, but PMRecorder is free - why not use it?
I just tested PMRecorder. It's an OK piece of software does exactly what it says it would, however due to hardware limitations of PPC described in the link provided by menneisyys, call recording is only available with speakerphone ON and even than record quality is pretty low.
Too bad
I just audionotes. and set it to the memo button. Once a call comes in I can hit that button. I guessing may take about 3secs to fully load and then just answer the call. Works great with no problem. Don't need to use speaker phone. I tried it just using the phone, with the wired headset and the BT headset and al work pretty damn good. Although the other side volume will be about 30% lower then yours still can hear them just fine. But from my own test I wouldn't expect to record a conversation over 35min long. For some reason it ended around that amount of time on me but yet I still had tons of space left.

Hard to believe it worked. I too have a Wizard (G3 - do you have a G4? Anyone knows whether G4 no longer has this problem?) and a Universal & also tested a MDA III in this respect and am absolutely sure none of them make it possible to record the other party.
Are you ABSOLUTELY sure you've listened to the right recording with the wired / BT headset test?
I have no idea wehter I have a G3 or G4 so if you know how I can checc for you I'll be glad to let you know.
I've tried it many times and it continues to work. Especially since I never talk on the phone itself. I always use a headset (wired and BT). So there isn't a way I could get it mixed up.
Now I remember something from another thread that 1 person was having problems installing the app. After installation the programs works fine but the person couldn't activated it. Maybe that is required not sure.
I'm currently using version 1.11 and I noticed there's a 1.15 version now.
Also I notice this on their page:
Windows Mobile Smartphone
Best for using with Windows Mobile 5.0
Note that phone calls are recorded only on WM 5.0 Smartphones. We recommend you to start recording phone calls after you have pressed the answer button.

Which is wierd to me. I always started the recording prior to calling or answering.
And the PPC version reads:
Windows Mobile 2003 (SE)/Windows Mobile 5.0
Best for using with Windows Mobile 5.0
VITO AudioNotes does not record phone calls on Pocket PC due to operating system restrictions.

Now this is something I find interesting after reading this. After soft reset the phone boots up and even says PPC. But yet I mremeber Cingualr always called it a smartphone instead of a ppc when they first got them.
I'm a little frustrated.
Seems to me that 3-way calling has different capabilities depending on whether you are initiating a conference call, or a second party calls while you're already in a call with someone else.
I find that if I am in a call, and put that person on hold and call another, I have the "merge" button on the screen, and can bring both parties together into a 3-way call. However, I can't find any way to switch back and forth between the two callers, speaking to each independently. Am I missing something? I'd really like to be able to do this.
Alternatively, if I'm on a call and someone else calls, I get a call-wating ring and caller ID, can answer the call, putting the first party on hold. Then, where the "Merge" button shows in the above circumstance, I instead have a "Swap" button, and can switch back and forth between the two calls. I can't find any way to merge the two calls into a 3-way conference call. Am I missing something? I'd really like to be able to do this.
Finally, when I have two parties, one on hold the other active, if I press "End Call" it hangs up both parties, not just the active one I'm talking to! I can't find any way to hang up just the party I'm actively talking to. Am I missing something? I'd really like to be able to do this.
This all seems rather braindead, and I'm really hoping it's me that's got the dead brain, rather than the designers, and am simply missing something.
Comments?
i noticed that too a few weeks back. i can get over the fact that in order to conference you have to initiate both calls. but i hate how it hangs up both parties when you have one on hold,,, that is just stupid to me lol. wish there was a fix for that. do you know if the other galaxy devices suffer from that also? maybe 2.2 fixes that i hope.
lol this is the same on every epic.. but just to ease the mood for u guys, its not really a solution to the problem but if u get a second call and u put the first party on hold to talk to the 2nd party, when u end the 2nd call to get back to the first call it shows that it ended the call, however, if the 1st party is still waiting on the line then u'll automatically get a call back regardless of the call ending and u can continue to converse without having to call back... technically the 1st party does't call u back, he/she is still waiting on the line.. so its just a weird feature or a network issue lol..

That's good to know. Functionally then, at least, it works the way it "should" -- it's just a bit delayed and therefore a matter of inconvenience. I always though the other party was getting disconnected and actually calling me back.
Regardless, there must be some technical limitation that has it designed this way. Surely marketing and engineering at Sprint and Samsung aren't this completely moronic, right?
It's a limitation of Sprint's CDMA network and not your phones. Has always been this way with Sprint. I know cause I've been with Sprint 12 yrs.

i guess cuz its a limitation and not an issue for them? lol..
I'd bet this is why Google Voice conference calling doesn't work. Sprint doesn't do 3-way calling the same way as most other carriers.

It's not a limitation
I have to disagree with you. I have had plenty of phones where the 3-way calling worked just fine, and I have been with Sprint for around 8 years. It is a limitation with the phone. CDMA has nothing to do with this. The problem this thread is addressing is not an issue on the HTC Hero, or the HTC Evo, or either of the Touch line of phones. It is a Samsung issue, and whenever I've talked to customer support (Samsung), they have told me that they are working on a fix for it. I just want people to understand that this is not a CDMA issue, it's moreso a Samsung issue.
Something that works for the vibrant... any suggestions?

I found a app in the marketplace but its half asses and not very reliable.
i need something like this too. i tried all of the available apps on the market and none of them record both parties, or if they do, it records the person on the other end so low that you can even hear it. I need something like this for court
I recommend the Olympus TP-7 Telephone Recording Device and a good voice recorder. The TP-7 is a mic that goes in your ear. You plug it into the mic plug on the VR, put it in your ear, and hold the phone up to that ear. It will pass the sound from the phone through to your ear and record both sides of the conversation.
I have yet to see a good app for this, and I've been looking for one for Blackberry and Android for a couple of years.
IANAL, but be aware what the laws in your area are regarding recording phone calls and conversations. Also, be mindful of the "chain of evidence". IOW once you record the conversation change NOTHING about that file other than its location. That means that whatever format the file is recorded in (.wav, .ogg, .mp3, etc.) is the format you will present it to the court in.
And while I am truly NOT a lawyer I do work for a company that supplies inmate phone systems to prisons. Every inmate call (other than those to registered lawyer phone numbers) is recorded and admissible as evidence. So it is a subject I am familiar with. However, check with a GOOD lawyer if you have any questions.
They all slightly suck. I tried 4. Every one except Google Voice requires you to use speaker phone for it to work. GV inserts "recording notification" krap into the call.
On calls I get popping sounds. a few times the pops have been so loud I almost dropped.
The microphone is also really low. people can't hear me I use to be able (Gnexus) to set the phone down and talk with it on the computer table next to me but now they can't hear me.

Standard 'is this a hardware problem?' test:
1. If you are on a custom ROM, flash completely back to stock and retest.
2. If you are already on stock, backup all your data and factory reset. Even better, completely wipe the phone and re-install stock and retest.
3. If the issue still occurs, the issue is most likely with the hardware. If the issue no longer occurs, then it was a software problem.
4. If I understand this reply correctly, you have already received a replacement device and the issue still occurs. In this case, you happen to be very unlucky.
As for the Nexus 4 in general, I can only speak anecdotally. I don't have the issue on the seven Nexus 4 devices I've tested: two of my own, three from coworkers/friends who also own the device, and two test devices.

Since the issue only happens during Skype calls and not while using the standard calling function, I would blame this issue on VOIP quality: either your latency is high, Skype is having quality issues, or some combination of the two. I have issues with Skype call quality on both my phone and my PC, and the issues are largely to do with Skype throttling the call bandwidth.
what about my mic issue the sounds very low. is there a way to change the gain on the microphone? I always use my phone by calling 1 of my friends I'm placing the phone beside my desk as I speak with them they can't hear me with this new phone they were able to perfectly hear me with the galaxy Nexus.
