[q] i'm a noob!!! Tried everything!!! Need help!!! - HD2 General

I'll try to explain to problem I'm haviing as best as possible.
I have an HTC HD2 that worked fine up until I tried to switch the phone from Windows 6.5 Professional to Android Gingerbread. I thought I followed the instructions right. I loaded HSPL4 (whatever that is), Loaded DFT NAND MAGLDR 1.13 and what I thought was Android 2.3.4 (it was actually 2.2).
After it was done, I have no internet service (even though the phone says I am registered with T-mobile, have a good sign and receiving service). My phone works but I can't hear the caller (they hear me fine). I can send/receive texts. Wifi works fine. I also can't Synn up with my PC.
I have a SD card available if I need it. I'm furstrated and mad I can't use my phone. Right now, I would be happy with setting my phone back to stock but I really want Android Gingerbread.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hey.... I think you have flashed an outdated rom.... So all you have to do is to flash a new and better one... I would prefer MIUI.. it is a fast and clean build with least bugs... To download the rom.. I would say... Go to MIUI.US download the latest rom for hd2 from there and paste it in your SD card.... Then go into magldr screen by pressing the red button when booting up... Select ad. Recovery.. Then in the new screen... Select wipe data/factory reset.... Then select install zip from sd card.... Choose zip from sd card and then after it is complete boot into your new rom by restarting... But warning... If with the current build of magldr... Your battery runs out... You will have to charge the battery external... If you want to prevent this then i would say that you rather install clk it is similar to magldr... But supports off mode charging... To know how to install clk I have posted a thread on installing miui... How to... Check out there you will get the guide for clk installation

Thank you
I'll give it a try and let you know how it went.

Hope this is helpful.
As Nick.C has pointed out CWM = ClockWorkMod Recovery. Im assuming this is the method you are using to flash your builds.
I did not mean for u not to use task29 at all. Follow the steps below and all should be well.
1. Task29 to remove Windows Phone 7
2. Flash official WM6.5 Build (DO NOT Task29)
3. Download and use SD Formatter 3.0 to format SD Card. Set option to Full Erase and Size adjustment to ON.
4. Install MGLDR 1.13
5. Flash CWM
6. Flash your favorite android build.
just to be sure...after flash official rom...i think i need to hspl before flash maglrd
i know i should read mag installation guide...but...im stuck in highway and im too lazy to find it hehehe

If you have flashed custom roms before, then you already have HSPL installed, because u cant flash custom roms without it. HSPL is always there until you remove it, even if you flash an official or custom rom.
To flash MGLDR - Boot into the boot loader screen (Multi Color Screen) and then flash MGLDR
To flash CWM - Boot into MGLDR and select usb flasher then flash CWM. Some chefs have there own custom CWM so read there instruction so u will know if you will use the original CWM or their version.

[Q] HTC HD2 American Android 2.3 TMOUS Install Issue

Unable to load American Android 2.3 on HTC HD2.
Downloaded the American Android 2.3 for TMOUS->Extracted Android folder to blank SD card /sdcard/Android->Opened up file manager on HTC HD2 /sdcard/Android and ran clrcad.exe got the untrusted popup clicked okay->Ran haret.exe got popup again clicked okay then saw a few white command lines (maybe 5) then the green HTC logo appears and sits there for ever. I let it sit for 30 min and no change had to pull the battery and restart windows. Phone is up to date only difference might be is it has been unlocked through T-Mobile. Does anyone know how to avoid this?
Ergh
I even tried HSPL3 and that didn't help... I just want the American Android 2.3 Gingerbread to load on my HTC HD2.. WTF!
Im having the same problem as well. I did the fat32 primary partition, on a clean sd card, ill wait for 30 minutes before i give up. some one please help, i got the desire hd rom running but would like to see what the gingerbread 2.3.3 is like.
Did you flash a new radio rom?
SO, you are going from WIn 6.5 to Android just by haret ? You cannot
If I was you I would start all over flashing HSPL 3, then flash Radio 2.15, then install Magldr 1.3, then copy the zip file to sd card and install. It's as easy as drinking a glass of water.
Be sure you chose SPL 2.08.HSPL and NOT SPL 2.80 when you flash HSPL 3

Ok first off what valv507 is mistakenly thinking you are trying to run Andriod from NAND. When you flashed MAGLDR you wiped your ROM from your HD2. This is why you can not get past MAGLDR it needs a ROM to boot.
You will have to reinstall your Windows Mobile ROM (hope you dide not loose too much data ) make sure it is a 3.14 ROM as they are the best for running Android from SD. Also make sure you have the 2.15.50.14 radio or atleast the 2.14.50.02 radio, the 2.15.50.14 radio is the best though. Also reformat your SD card again but use the Panisonic software to format it as most people say it is better than the Windows software. You can download it here. Make sure you do a full wipe and format using Fat 32. Then place all of your files and stuff from your back up back on your SD card including your Adroid build. then try to boot the Android again.
Put your HD2 into bootloader to reflash your Win Mo ROM. Hold down the volume down button while powering on your HD2 to get to bootloader and make sure you see USB in the white bar of bootloader before you flash the ROM.

What if I just want to run Android from NAND? At this point I just want to flash Gingerbread 2.3 on there but want the best version of that with the fewest bugs. Do you have any links to such a ROM? How would I go about flashing it? Thank you for the help in advance.
If you do a YouTube search you cab find a "how to install " video for installing NAND Android GB 2.3.2 on the HD2, it also has links to ROMs, Radios and MAGLDR 1.13. I installed it in about 15 mins after d/ling the specified files and I have only had a HD2 for 3 days. Very good video. I would link you to it but I am at work right now and I have the page saved to face on my home PC

If you want to go NAND Android just click on thr guide linked in my signature. I have links to two of the best guides on how to install NAND Android on your HD2 at the top of my guide. My guide is not a guide on how to install NAND Android but a guide to teach you what the things you need to install and run Android from NANN and WP7 are, what they do, and how to install them.
Also I use a non HTC Sense Gingerbread ROM and I really like it click the link for Hyperdroid in my signature if you want to check it out.

What exactly are you asking here? Do youi want to know how to enter bootloader?
If so you just hold your volume down button down while powering on your HD2, this brings up the multicolor bootloader screen. From bootloader you can connect your HD2 to your computer wait for Serial to change to USB and then flash what ever you are wanting to flash radio, Windows Mobile ROM, splash screen, MAGLDR, and cLK. Click on my guide in my signature to get even more knowledge.
it is possilbe to have magldr installed running whatever NAND os you want.. and still boot ACA from sdcard.
the first post of the ACA thread has all the details you need to accomplish this.

to run it from nand you go to 10 services, than boot settings ,than select android sd ,than go to 10 again than select boot settings ad sd dir than select the android folder make sure there is not another folder named android, than go to ad sd nand and it will load. it tooked 15 minutes but he did say it would take long.
I took the same steps as the OP did and I'm experiencing the same problem. I am not planning to go through NAND and would like to stick with the SD build but it will not load. Any suggestions?
I'm using the latest American android build. Here is what I did:
1. Copy ENTIRE android folder to sd. If you want a faster boot time you need to copy over a new data image since one is not included in this build. It will create one on first boot, but this takes longer.
2. Once you've done this run clrcad then haret and allow it to boot. Mine took about 15 min total boot time to first lock screen without a data img. And about 7 to 10 min with.
3. Once you see the first screen DO NOT touch it. Let it settle for about 10 min. After that it should shut it self down.
4. Turn phone back on and boot android again. Letting it settle again for a few minutes. After 5 or 10 min of letting it settle pick it up and enjoy your sexy gingerbread.
Also, on a side not magldr is used for booting from wp7 to android. Haret is what is used for booting android from wm6.5
Hope this helped.

[q] y u no make me root??

Hey Guys,
at first, i hope this question isnt coming again and again, but i couldn't find anything helpful (for ME!) yet.
I have the HTC HD2 and got really tired of Windows Phone 6.5, so i changed it to Android. (Took me weeks to figure that out until it worked)
My current ROM:
Android 2.2 HTC Desire
Kernel 2.6.32.15 by cotulla
I use Magdlr and boot from NAND.
Superuser Elite is installed (bought it), but i cant update it - no matter what i do, it wont let me be root. I even tried the terminal, but when i type in "su" it directly says "permission denied". The problem is, my phone memory is low and i cant install apps directly on the sd-card (never found a guide how to get this automatically done).
What can i do??
i am rly desperate... the sad thing is, my boyfriend (yes, i am a girl) isnt much into smartphone stuff though he's got the new htc sensation - and also not into unix / linux systems - it seems all the guys i know besides only use an iPhone and google won't be my friend...
PLS PLS PLS HELP ME!
oh and sry for the bad language, grammar etc - i'm german ;-)
that is an old, out of date rom. It was the first proof of concept release when cotulla created magldr, so i would advise you to move to a different more recent rom. (We now have roms running android 2.3, 3 and even some early android 4 roms.)
There are very very few roms that flash in quite the same way, now, so you would need to learn about flashing CWM(clockwork, clockworkmod, clockwork recovery, it has several names)
Go get the 'android toolkit' from the android nand section, and then go read some of the guides from HERE

Old, outdated ROM with no root access. Use a newer one.
Yep its an old ROM. Don't worry though, you'll be able to redownload superuser on a new ROM. Just do what Sam says and it'll work fine. Surprised you even knew that you could flash android on to the hd2, because "you're a girl".
= What are you even doing asking whether or not you should root your phone on XDA?! =
ok guys thank you for the detailed informations!
i didnt know the rom is outdated - i guess installing a new one is the best idea in that case. i thought of that before, but it took me so long to get this one working so i wasn't in the mood for re-installing yet.
THANK YOU all, i will let you know if it worked - in case i cant fix this, would someone be able to help me via teamviewer?

I'm pretty sire you won't need to give remote access, you'll be able to do it. All you'll need is the latest magldr 1. 13 (if I'm not mistaking)
Once you've got that, you just need to flash the clockwork mod daf file from usb flasher on magldr, then when you flash into clockwork its easy, just flash a zip file.
You can backup ROM's etc. from clockwork so its really convenient.

I totally crashed it!!
Hi Guys - it has happened
i totally crashed my hd2.
what i did:
i read the guides and got the newest android nand toolkit. so, i performed task29 and installed hspl, then clk. the problem now is: i cant do anything else! when i boot, i get this white clk screen where i can choose recovery normal or sboot. i cant repartition, my phone has no connection when i switch into the mode "with the 3 colours"... so - i can copy to sd card what i want, i can perform every task with the toolkit, even the backup rom for the original windows phone doesnt help because it says: "pls check that you're phone is connected via usb". my pc has the android usb drivers, it shows the device, all ok. i cant go into usb flasher because it seems, no magldr is installed - i tried and tried so many things and now i cant even perform a wipe.
seems i need to give you remote access anyway....
PLEASE! help me!
if you need screenshots i will upload them, just let me know.
Start from the beggining by reflasing with the 3 colours on the screen, im no expert and I use magloader not clk, so try doing a fresh one with magloader and see how it goes

Plug the phone into the PC. Hold the back arrow key after turning the phone on to boot to fastboot . Then either try flashing Cwm via the NAND toolkit or do it manually through fastboot.

ERROR: ERROR: Cannot read ramdisk image

Hello guys,
Does anyone know what does this message mean:"ERROR: ERROR: Cannot read ramdisk image"?
It appeared on my HD2 while I was installing an Android ROM on it and now I cannot run any other OS on it but Windows Mobile. I tried Google but had no luck. Only one person as far as I understood experienced this problem but I have no reply from him and I am not even sure if he managed to solve the problem anyway.
So, if anyone knows something about it I would be happy to hear. Any help would be useful. Thanks in advance!

Did u flashed radio ?
I reflashed radio, did task29, flashed hspl, flashed Magldr, flashed stock WM ROM from my PC, then again from sd card and no result. WM ROM works ok but that's it. No Android or WP7 can be flashed. In order to be more specific, here is what I do:
1. HSPL 2.08
2. task29 with Radio 2.15
3. Magldr
4. CWM
And when I try to enter AD Recovery from the Magldr menu I receive the message I mentioned in my first post and there is nothing more to be done but using the phone with WM which in my opinion makes out of my HD2 a piece of crap.

Let mi simple u Task29 and Radio Rom
Task 29 - When u do task 29 to phone u delete everything even radio rom. So the thing u need to do is do this for magldr :
-Task29
-Radio Rom
-Magldr
-CWM
-Wipe
-Flash Rom
-Calibrate battery (some roms do it itself)
If it will make u easier i can make tutorial but im pretty much sure there is milions of them .
Try that way and report if it worked . Its 30min process.
EDIT: HD2 powered by WM is crippled yea. Android is far superiour even withou cam. But let me tell u one thing first thing why i tooked HD2 is Windows by stock and customization possible. Didnt carred about low battery etc. Windows is till now unbeatable bussines platform. iOs is near but its not it. Android hard to get bussines capable like windows 7. What I mean windows is bussines ready,iPhone is kinda ready and on android u have to customize like hell to get everything (at least what I as system admin need)
Task29 does not delete your radio. I was sure of it because I had flashed my phone a lot of times in the past, but anyway, I tried your method and the result was the same. When I install Magldr and then CWM, the phone does not let me enter the CWM menu so I cannot continue with the flashing of the Android ROM itself. It is just not possible without CWM. I also tried cLK method but when I press and hold the home key, the phone restarts and I get to a dead end once again. Thanks for your help anyway.
As far as WM is concerned, there is absolutely no chance for me to use this phone with this OS. if I cannot find a way to manage the problem I will just sell the phone and buy a native Android one which will make things much easier for me.
Best regards
Which rom are u trying to install?
Sent from my HTC HD2 using Tapatalk
It is all the same which one because when you are not able to enter the CWM menu you cannot install anything, but for instance, let's say this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1264828
I had problems booting that rom too. Try this one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326217 almost perfect. Mwakious has some bugs i w8 for him to fix it
You don't follow what I say. I cannot enter CWM menu so I cannot even start flashing any ROM, it doesn't matter which one it is.
Merry Christmass by the way!

Hi
I have the same issue, in bootloader on ad recovery.. i get cannot read ramdisk image, I will not uninstall ANDROID, because I will no longer support android, if I can not install any other roms
Any other advice, but to not lose my actual ROM!!!!
PS: I had installed ROM Manager latest, and installed clockwork from rom manager, Till then the recovery worked....
Had the same problem yesterday. I used the HD2 Toolkit to repartition, by the way it installs Recovery 5.
Then everything worked fine.

And do I lose my actual ANDROID ROM?
And How to use that toolkit?
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
EDIT:
I managed to fix my problem by HD2 Toolkit 4.2.0.1 with Maglrd update recovery.
THANK YOU!!!

Could you please explain me step by step how exactly you managed to solve the problem. I installed HD2 Toolkit 4.2.0.1 and try to use Update recovery function but the console that opens after I start the process freezes and I cannot continue. There is an explanation in it saying that probably the USB connectin is not good. However I use the USB flasher in Magldr menu for this connection between the phone and the PC and I don't know another way to connect both devices for the installation process. Is there something that I am missing?
By the way The message that I receive now when I try to open CWM changed from "...cannot read ramdisk image" to "...cannot read kernel image". Does it make any difference?
Thanks in advance!

For this question I do not know any answer, but for USB Connection I know because I had the same problem:
Put your phone in debugging mode.. and connect it to PC..
Use usbdeview to delete any android drivers from that list..
Then in device manager find any new hardware, and right click, and update: Browse my driver manually> Let me pick my driver> find the driver from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090783 find "Download Drivers By T-Macgnolia", and after that you need to find Android Driver installed in device manager, after that hd2 toolkit will work.
Solution
You have to copy the files in the. Zip attachment inside the SD.
Make the whole process as usual, but instead choose the option you choose AD Recovery Boot option AD DS.
This way you can access the recovery menu and load the rom.

Thx a lot!!!
This worked for me- just perfect!!!
Mikel
Worked for me as well, thanks very much, I was about to see how far the phone could fly.

[Q] Problems with Flashing / Resetting

Hi guys!
I've got a problem.
I got a HTC HD2 with android on it.
I am not quite sure, how it was done because a friend of mine did this some time ago and i can't contact him...
Now i want to give the phone to my girlfriend, but I can't remove my google-account from it. I even set up her Google-Account on the phone but no luck, it says I'd have to reset the phone to stock settings.
Already did that but i wouldn't help, I am still not able to remove my account.
Of course i don't wanna share any details of my account with anyone else...
So I wanted to "update" the Android-System on it, but since I am kinda new to this, I don't know how... I don't even know with which method the Android-System was set up on the phone (NAND or SD).
Can you guys help me please?
I don't know what information you need to help me, so just ask here please and I will give you any information you need
Thanks!!
1, reboot your hd2 into recovery mode
2, choose "wipe factory",press "yes"
ps:it will delete your gmail account, and alos delete all the information...after that,u will get a new phone,i mean new syetem...
How do I put my phone into recovery mode?
Hold down the power button while booting?
There is only an "AD Recovery" option, and when I select it, it says "No boot sources"..
Looks like your golden friend had had android using the DAF.exe installer, which is rust old.
You'll need to upgrade your ROM as well; I presume it is old, too.
Use the link in my sig to look for "HD2 NAND Toolkit", follow that thread and it will guide you through the installation of a rom of your choice.
Hey!
Thank you for your responses
In the thread I was reading ([March 15] [Sense 3.5] Energy™ -.¸¸.·´¯ SensationXL/Runnymede build that just works ) it says, i have to start from a windows mobile based HD2.
Do I have to start up WinMo 6.5 in order to install Android? Because I am afraid I can't do that anymore (or I just don't know how...).
Or can I start up my phone (it will boot Android automatically) and follow the instructions from the thread instead?
Ok so i downloaded that tool, then started to "wipe" (Task 29) my phone.
Now it won't boot any further than until the white screen with green "htc" on it... :/ I think I might have broken the phone now? (( help!!
Yes, because task 29 wipes everything so there's nothing to boot.
Phone into bootloader
Apply magldr
Phone into magldr - USB flasher
In toolkit choose required partition size and click repartition
Into magldr - ad nand
Cwm will start, use it to flash the rom.zip.
Could of just tell him to flash a cwm recovery instead of "task29"... now he have to start all over... keep us updated on where you are at and what have you done so far...
