Hi guys,
I'm on donut again after my tattoo came back from repair.
I'd like to keep 1.6 for now, but i have this problem: I'm not able to import my contacts as phone contacts. I don't want to sync them with the google account, but all the tools I tried keep creating them as "google contacts", even if i didn't add any account.
Do you know any way (on android 1.6) to import one single vcf file or many vcards and create them as "Phone Contacts"?
I tried googling for two days, but didn't help so far.
Thank you in advance.
nobody?
thanks anyway.
last try...
anyone?
You cant import contacts on android 1.6 ,its only available from 2.0 and up versions...

ANyone found a viable way to sync your PC contacts from the WM HD2 to the Froyo build? Right now I think many are google and import them that way but any others to consider? Plus I've notice to quicky things...
English setting in weather still give you a Celsius reading and no matter what sync option you use nothing will connect to a PC even in disk drive mode.
Any solutions that people have found?

There is for me no better way I could have done it: Import contacts to Google contacts and sync phone with google. THE BEST feature of Google contacts is the ability to eliminate your duplicates forever. I had 4,000 contacts that were actually some 900. I deleted my outlook contacts and exported back to oulook the contacts without duplicates.
[Q] How do I Import a contact.vcf into "Phone Group" NOT "Google Group"?
Hi
I have a bunch of contacts on my Desktop. I exported them into a .vcf file & copied it to the /sdcard directory.
I can import the .vcf ono my Epic, but the contact ONLY go in to the "Google Contacts" group.
I can create contacts manually, and select to put them on my phone -- NOT in the Google Group. That's where I want them.
How do I IMPORT the whole .vcf into the Phone group, NOT the Google Group? I can't find it so far.

HI
I am looking for a way to restore my contacts whick i have on outlook to my hero.....
suprisingly htc sync is not working after a rom upgrade......pls help guys
its a huge task to add contacts manually.......
HTC sync is a feature of Sense Roms ,. Unfortunately you cant have that on CM 6 based roms as they lack sense.
my recommendation for a Quick fix for you may be to flash a sense rom and sync your contacts and then change your contacts to google contacts as opposed to phone or sim contacts and then back them up on your google account.

it could be because there is a new version of htc sync on the web page for 2.1 eclair.. if you don't have it already that could be your problem

Log in to your Gmail account (the one that you used originally on your phone) on your PC and go to Contacts. In the "More Actions" menu there is an option to Import contacts. Export your contacts from Outlook to a .CSV file, then import them into your Gmail account. Once they are there, they should synchronise with your phone correctly, and from then on, if you wipe your phone, when you sign back in with your google account on the new ROM, the contacts will automatically transfer again.

Happy to help The only issue there is that you need to keep the gmail contacts up to date as well as your Outlook contacts, but it does work well
Hey what I figured out recently when I got my hero is more of a work around than an official way to do this. What I do is I select all the contacts in my outlook contacts folder, then I right click and say send as a business card. What this does is create an e-mail with all your contacts listed as business card .vcf files. All these files will appear in the new mail dialog under attachments. I right click on that particular dialog and select all - it then offers you the option to cut/copy all these vcfs - once you do that then you can just paste them in whichever folder you wish. Once they are all there just transfer them to a folder on your SD card and use the import feature thats in the contacts application. You can import from SD card and it will locate and list all those vcfs of the SD card. Thats about the best and easiest way I've found of doing this. However when I change the contact on the phone I will try obviously have to find some reverse method to get it back into outlook sychro'd Only got my hero two days ago so will figure something out soon hopefully
The user manual indicates the Iconia A500 can import contacts in the CSV format. I tried it but it didn’t work. I also tried converting my CSV files to VCard. That didn’t work either.
Can anyone help me solving this issue?
Thanks for your support.
The best and easiest way to do it is to import your contacts to Gmail. Do you have any specific reason why you want to import your contacts as Iconia contacts? Having your contacts in Gmail is better so you also see the same contacts on your phone, assuming that you have an android phone.
Well, actually that’s exactly what I had done and yes, the contacts were imported but the addresses are all garbled.
I used the following procedure:
1 - I exported the contacts from Outlook to a CSV file.
2 - On my windows machine, I logged in to Gmail and imported the CSV file.
3 - On the Iconia, I logged in to Gmail and my contacts synchronised.
Hello
I have just got a Nexus 4 which I have just updated to 4.3 and set up my google account. I also have a Samsung Ace GT S5830, which has all my contacts on it and I would like to move them over to my Nexus?
For some reason I do not know how to sync my contacts with Google Contacts. I can sync my calendar and other things but I can't sync my contacts.
Using the Samsung software I can export my contacts to my Desktop with the formats. spb, csv and vcf. I have tried to import these formats to my Google Contacts but spb won't transfer. Using csv will only transfer part of my contact information. And vcf will only allow me to transfer one contact at a time.
I have no idea how to transfer any of thes formats to my Nexus 4.
Where am I going wrong with my quest to transfer my contacts to my new phone?
Cheers
Solved it.
Is there any way that I can delete this subject?

Leave it be.
You might as well add the solution to the first post though, in case someone else has the same problem.
Hello
Ok
How I solved the issue was to use the software for my Samsung Ace, Samsung kies, to export all contacts as VCF files to my Desktop. I then connected my Nexus 4 to my Desktop and then went to the import/export menu. I then chose to import from storage and selected to import all VCF files at once.
It took a matter of seconds to transfer, however the files are still downloading to my Nexus 20 minutes later.
Cheers
