Hello. I have been viewing this forum for months but this is my first post. As the title states, I am wondering if there is a root for 2.3.4 Atrix devices. Specifically Cyanogen. I cannot seem to find a certain answer on google.

Have you ever seen a Cyanogen build that was NOT rooted!? To answer your question you need to unlock the bootloader to install CM7. I bet if you close your eyes and click on any random thread in this forum it will be a thread about CM7!

Here is a great place to start for bootloader and rooting.

Just got an x10 few days ago and having some silly questions now.
About the bootloader,is it finally unlocked or cracked?
Which rom in your view do the best for a newbie x10 user?
2.3.4 or 2.3.3 will be released?
Any good thread to refer to for a newbie?
Thanks

First things first, 歡迎中伏 (welcome to the death trap)
The bootloader is impossible to crack in the foreseeable future, unless SE gives us the unlock. However there is the bypass being worked out which allows us to side load kernels.
As for roms, the 2.2 ones are quite neat, and the GB update is just around the corner.

Hi, and welcome to the x10 community.
As far as we know, the bootloader HAS NOT been cracked or unlocked.
In my opinion, the best newbie rom would be Zidzihu's FreeX10 beta 4. Have a look in the dev section for it. Make sure you read up on rooting, xRecovery, Roms, and flashtool before attempting to flash anything. We are expecting the update to 2.3.3 to roll out in the coming few weeks, maybe sooner.
There is a sticky in the general section that has a lot of useful and important information in it, just have a quick look at that.

and you felt the need to make a new topic why???
you're in the wrong forum. Had over to the AT&T forum. This is for the international G note

what is this kind of topic??? Make a search next time.....this has been discussed a lot of times for the International Note here - the At&T version is on another forum.

Thank you for being one of the only answers here that weren't insulting. There's absolutely no reason for some of these responses.
I just got my phone today and there is so much info to take in. im not new to rooting though but some questions.
Why is there an "old" andriod development and a regular one?
my phone is on 2.3.6. So was wondering if anyone could point me to a thread to get this thing completely rooted?
Phone im coming from is the mytouch 4g slide which has no where near the development this has. other phones I've owned and rooted: sensation 4g, G2, mytouch 4g, galaxy s and that's about all I can remember.

Why 2 development forums? See following links:

Or check out the stickies here:

Also please do search and read.
Indeed, search and read in the forum for your actual device. Your signature says you have an SGH-T989. That's a different device than for this forum. Firmwares and kernels are NOT compatible between the two due to those differences.
SGH-T989 forum.
Thanks for the help I really appreciate it didnt know there was a difference between the galaxy s2 line up....good to know

So, I've looked through almost all of the threads in all the boards here and can't seem to find a thread that shows you how to root the S4. This is really annoying because it should be a sticky, like the S3 general forum.

I don't think he was saying you "should know" but more of, "and BTW, it also works with". I didn't click the link, but do a search for chainfire and S4 root should bring up a topic or two that covers it.
If you would have read the last 10 posts of that thread someone asked if that method works with mf9 and they answered yes.

Thank you for the info, and I hope some others will add to what they think of this too.
I have no plan to jump the gun on this. I would hope that the real Kit Kat 4.4 will be pushed out within the next month or two.
Thank you
this thread needs to be deleted, as a.) it doesn't belong in development whatsoever, and b.) seriously? you couldn't goto the thread for gummy that's ONE THREAD below this? wow. reported this one.

What do you mean the real kitkat? This is the real kitkat. If you mean LG's version then you are going to have to wait a while for that i'm sure. It will probably be at least 6 months before we see 4.4 on our phones. But I dont care when it is because i'll have had 4.4 long ago
