So after doing some edits and removing the AT&T bloatware the phone stopped wanting to allow me to add apps. Even though I had 20MB free. My phone now reboots when I put the SD card in.
So I decided to do a factory reset which worked fine but now I'm stuck on the first screen of the android set up. now the screen is just black with the taskbar at the top and the words "setup" right below it but no android icon in the center, and the emergency button is absent on the bottom.
I googled and found out that if you touch the 4 corners in a clockwise pattern this is suppose to bypass the setup and just go straight to your home screen. well this is a no-go.
The phone receives call fine and the screen is responsive when I slide the taskbar down. also when I plug it into my comp the motosuite boots up and works fine as well.
So any suggestions on how to get past this or how I can just reflash the phone?
It sounds like you don't have a launcher...
How to fix... i'm not so sure...
Maybe a forum search?

Cant you just go to android market on your computer and send a launcher to your phone that way? It automatically installs for you and if you are able to open the notification bar you should then be able to launch it to make it your default. Hope this helps.

The issue is i'm stuck on the very first screen of the phone. you know when you first power one up for the first time and set up gmail and everything else. well mins is stuck on the first screen so i can't get to market to download it.
If it is stuck on the setup it doesn't sound like a launcher problem. I can get the launcher off my phone if you want it but I know after I did a NON SBF update (using android recovery) mine got stuck on the MotoBlur setup and would freeze at 95% or so no matter if it was signing into my old account or creating a new one. I had to do an SBF flash for it to work. Not sure what the problem was but using update.zip looked like it was fine but it screws something up in it.

I'd gladly flash it again, but the snare is I don't have debugging mode on and with that black screen I can't get to it. I even hunted for Hotkeys to get into settings. So any possibility to get the phone into debugging mode without going through settings?

You can follow this guide located here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17042497
Flipside Bootloader Mode - Restore with SBF File
To put the Flipside into bootloader mode:
Open the keyboard
Press and hold the up arrow key (to the left of the OK key)
Hold the power button down
Release both buttons after about 4 seconds
You should see a display that says:
Bootloader
91.2B (If you already went to Froyo then this number is going to be like 91.7 I think)
Battery Ok
OK to Program
Connect to USB
Data Cable
This mode is for flashing an sbf file (ROM) to your phone using RSDLite.
RSD Lite version 4.9 works with the Flipside
I have received info from a reliable source that downgrading the Flipside from the not-yet-released Froyo upgrade using the available SBF files will brick your AT&T phone.
I do not have personal knowledge of this, but I trust my source.

Then just download the SBF listed on that post. Let me know if you are confused. I've done this about 3 times now on my phone. I keep screwing around with it and reflashing it.

Thanks, I'll try that again, I've actually already tried that but RS lite doesn't seem to read my phone. but I had that issue before and I know I have to use and older version instead of 4.9. Hopefully it'll work
Thats odd. I know I just bought our phones but they came with 2.1 and it worked just fine with it. I've upped to froyo now but I never had problems. Only had problems doing the update and doing a factory reset. After doing them I needed to do the SBF. Only thing that fixed mine.
Ok I have it fixed now. I tried a few different version of RS lite. and it just wouldn't read the phone even though the phone would read the comp.
Solution: run friggin RS Lite in Compatibility mode with XP SP3. worked fine.
So the phone is up and running again, but for some reason now everytime I put my 16GB sd card in it, the phone will reboot. I'm going to format the card as FAT and see if that solves it.
Cool. Glad you got it working. Now we just need some cyanogenmod love for our phones
I am far way ahead of your problem
i had the same issue
i downloaded the SAGE_U3_10.23.20_SIGNATT_USASAGE02B25ND0ATTNA02E.0R_PDS001_SAGEATT_P033_HWp4_1FF.sbf and flashed using RSD lite 5.3.1 multi flashing desktop

its strucked at boot loader, i also have the Blur_Version.2.159.17.MB508.ATT.en.US.zip but i can not flash it either
i tried to download the Download BL_917B_4G_sageemu_Consumer_replacer.zip for free on Filesonic.com but filesonic is no more supported to access downloading any kind of boot loader or other files
my question is, how can i restore my phone

Does anyone have an sbf for the R2D2 Edition? I got a little too tweaky.
Thanks!
Lol.. not yet.. next time boostrap and make a back up
See if you can recover with the r2d2 rom from mydroidworld
http://www.4shared.com/file/rePStgcF/VZW_24_Full_ROM.html
I've got a nandroid backup on my SD card I jsut can't seem to get back to the bootstrapper.
Try booting up and then pull your battery and then try booting up again. See if that puts you into bootstrap.

Thanks for the advice, I've been yanking the batt, pressing volume buttons and everything the only thing I can get to is the stock reset screen (android with !) and the boot loader. At this point I've probably done more harm than good resetting memory and clearing cache and stuff.
Oh, in case anyone wondered, the sbf fro the regular Droid 2 does not work on this bad boy. That'll teach me to mess wiht things I don;t know about. Looks like what I have is Bootloader and a copy of my backup from clockworkmod.... is there a way to build an sbf from your .img files?
Try powering down the phone then plugging it in and boot it up. That often loads clockwork revovery on mine.
Try going back into bootstrap recovery and pushing the bootstrap recovery button again. Then the reboot recovery button. That should work. I had the same thing happen to me and that worked.

Yeah, for whatever reason that often does cause my d2 to boot into cwm.. I think it replaces that weird battery startup thing, did anyone else get that when they first used their d2?

If your D2 won't boot all the way up (which is what it sounds like), you may be able to get into CW Recovery by one of the methods below:
1. This is the most reliable way I've found: Boot up and pull battery when the boot animation starts (after the M logo disappears). Then reinsert battery and start up...should go to CW Recovery then. Thought I spell it out just in case you hadn't tried it that way specifically.
2. Make sure there is no 'update.zip' file in the root of your SD card - again make sure NO 'update.zip' file. Then boot into stock recovery, choose the apply update.zip option, and after it aborts, pull the battery and boot up again.
3. Another set of steps that might work:
-Boot into stock recovery by holding X while powering up
-Hit the magnifying glass on the keyboard to open recovery menu
-Highlight reboot and hit "ok" on the keyboard
-When you get the "M" screen pull the battery
-Power back up and it will go to Clockwork recovery
Good luck on that....

What makes you say that...what did you try and what happened? What version of RSD Lite did you use, and what was the failure/results, etc. This is a pretty surprising thing to hear.
R2D2 and D2 are the same HW as far as anyone has seen from specs, etc., the 2.2.20 SBF not working seems odd.
Thanks.

You're two versions behind...RSD Lite 4.8 and 4.9 are out. I'd suggest you get at least 4.8 and try again. I don't have the links, but should be google-able.
When you used 4.7 you added the RSD patch on top of RSD 4.7 after you installed it, right?
What does the phone do now when you boot it up? Just sit on M logo, get to boot animation, or ?

You mean you're going to try the newer RSD Lite on the new phone or the old phone?
Interesting that it's the same error the Droid X users were getting...that does change the game a little, doesn't it. Thanks for the additional information - a relevant "news" post is here:
http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/...-1-any-reason-after-official-upgrade-2-2.html
So it seems like VZW may have made the same change to the bootloader w/2.4.x on the D2 that they made w/2.2 on the DX.

I am running RDS lite 4.9 against my "old" device right now. I'll let you know how it works out. What is the current official SW version on the D2?
The VERY first time I tried this I did get a success message when it was done
I get an error now, Error sending RAM download to bootloader ... I am trying to attach pictures of the full message.
Actually, the mem_map blank and the bootloader messages are pretty common across all motorola phones, I've seen similar error messages on the older p2k (v300, razr, etc) type phones when you have a flash fail out at certain points. It's generally recoverable (in most cases, anyway) as long as you have a full flash (.sbf or .shx)

Hey guys, I have done a ton of reading and researching about modding android phones since recently migrating from iPhones. I got a Droid1 and did some basic root/rom/overclock etc.
I just got a DX a few days ago and right away decided to start with the modding. Anyways, In a nutshell I attempted to go about the ROMing process in a similar manner to my Droid1 and ended up going to the Rubix1.6 ROM without ever backing up my stock OS.
I wanted to be able to jump back and forth to a blurless/blurred ROM to get a good feel for what I want outta it but am not sure how I should go about getting the stock OS stuff back on. I've read up about the SBF, but is that the only way to go?
Thanx for any help guys, greatly appreciated.

Sadly, yes. Since you didn't back up before you started you will have to SBF to get a stock ROM. Be sure to make a nandroid of your modded ROM, SBF, root, backup, then flash back and forth.
Now as far as a Nandroid backup you mean just a backup through clockwork recovery correct?

the activation system has been down for a few hours now. You can try *22899. Or do it online here http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/activate. Or just call the 1800 number and do it with a csr.
Ok, I'm hoping it is just a bad coincidence that the activation server is down. I'll pack it up and try again in the morning. If that's what it is then I am all set otherwise. Thanx!

of course it's just a coincidence. flashing a rom or doing an sbf to your phone does not cause the verizon activation system to crash. lol. whenever you sbf your phone or do a factory reset, you have to do the *228 to reactivate. thats normal.
Just some info... when I wipe out my phone and boot it up (skipping) activation it works already. Found this out by wiping my phone, booting it up, and I got a text message immediately. Lol.

Just consider your SBF your 2.3.15 backup copy. It's not a pain. It's easy and it should be a tool in every modder's arsenal. IMO, people who don't know how to sbf, are destined to have to anyway, eventually, if they mod enough. The only thing is that when they have to, they won't know how and will kinda panic. I say be ready to sbf before you root, so you're ready when trouble comes.
Me? I love modifications and will sometimes go too far or make a mistake at 2 am, when I really should be sleeping instead and I wind up bricked. No problem. Just SBF and I'm on my way. If you need further info or how to's feel free to ask.

Here's what I used to guide me through the sbf...
Here is a link to the guide I used. It is for the 2.1 SBF though.
http://www.intomobile.com/2010/09/21/droid-x-stock-android/
Here are the instructions with my modifications for 2.2...
IMPORTANT!!! - the directions are for restoring 2.1 so you do not do some of the steps! They were the best I could find. I followed them except for things that did not apply.
instructions:
1. First off, choose the right version of Motorola USB drivers for your computer and install them (32bit) (64bit)
2. Download & install RSD Lite 4.7 (download)
I did not use 4.7 as it is not current. I used 4.9
You will need to patch this after installing. There is an .ini file included in the folder that needs to be placed in your install directory. /Program Files/Motorola/RSD Lite
I used 4.9 and did not have to patch any files- the above step was unnecessary.
3. Download the Droid X Android 2.1 SBF file, which you can find here
of course I used the 2.2 SBF file here...
http://rootzwiki.com/
4. Unzip the SBF file to your desktop
i did not unzip mine to the desktop- i put it where i stash my android files- it made no difference.
5. Run RSD Lite, and click the “…” button, then find the SBF file that you just unzipped to your desktop and select it.
Starting here i followed the directions to the "t". Went through all the steps. !!!!!MAKE SURE YOU START WITH 100% BATTERY!!!!!! It takes a long time and if your phone dies during the process it is a nightmare.
6. Plug your Droid X into your computer and power it down
Go into the Bootloader (with phone off, hold the CAMERA button and VOLUME DOWN, then hit the POWER button)
After holding for 2-3 seconds, release the buttons and RSD Lite should recognize your Droid X
7. Click the start button to flash Android 2.1 to your phone.
of course we are flashing 2.2
8. When the flashing is complete, unplug your phone
The Droid X will likely not boot up all the way, so pull the battery out
Put the battery back into the phone and reboot into Recovery mode ( Hold the HOME button and press POWER until you get an exclamation mark. Release the HOME button and press the SEARCH button)
Using the VOLUME UP/DOWN buttons, navigate to “wipe data/ factory reset” option on the screen, and press the CAMERA button halfway down to execute.
When complete, choose to reboot your phone
9. It takes a while. Hope this helps. And I hope it goes smoothly. It was nerve racking for me. After you have finished the process you will not be rooted. Use the market app "Z4root" or which ever method you prefer.
good luck.

C. UnBRICKING INSTRUCTIONS:
HELP ME. Ima noob! I BRICKED MY PHONE!
1. go to Home and DL the leaked full OTA FROYO 2.2 .SBF file.
2. Download and install RSDLite v4.8 (it should be on Home if not, go Google it.)
3. If your phone is stuck on the load screen, pull the battery, wait a minute, push the battery back in and restart with the phone’s Boot Loader Mode (do this by pressing the red camera button + volume down + power button hold all of them in the order that I stated until your phone flashes briefly). Your phone should flash white and a Boot Loader menu will come up. Make sure there is at least 20 to 25 percent battery life remaining in order for the reformat of you phone to complete. If your phone dies in the middle of this process GOD HELP YOU.
4. Run the RSDLite File and connect your Droid X to your computer via USB.
5. Browse for the .SBF file you downloaded in step 1 and click “Start”, at which point the program should run and your phone will proceed to unbrick
6. EASY RIGHT?
7. Once unbricking you will have to go through reactivation of your phone. This is normal so just go through the steps you did when you first started.
8. GUESS WHAT? You made a backup of your previous customizations REMEMBER? If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of re-downloading your entire life onto your phone again follow the “ROOTING” instructions in Part A and redownload Bootstrap and reboot into recovery mode to RESTORE the backup you made by following steps 2-11 in Part B….except you won’t be going to “install from sdcard” you will going to “Backup and Restore” and “Restore from sdcard”.
HELP Please - Error running SBF in RSD Lite
First off, I'm a newbie, so please go easy on me if these are dumb questions. I get the following error while trying to run "VRZ_MB810_2.3.15_1FF_01.sbf" in RSD Lite 4.7 while in boot mode. I don't know what else to do. My phone won't work. Thank you for any advice you can give.

did you put the patched pst_flash.ini file in the rsdlite install directory?
I put that file in program files>motorola>rsd lite. I did it after installing the program if that matters. The zip file folder name was RSD Lite 4.7+Patch. Also, in RSD Lite in order for the program to recognize my droid x i had to select the "first come first serve device id mode" under the device id options in the config menu. Don't know if this matters, just trying to give as much info as possible. Thanks.

yea, you can only do it after installing the program. it has to be closed though when you do it and you have to overwrite existing file. if you did all that properly, then it may be a corrupted sbf. I would just install rsdlite 4.8 or 4.9 and retry. those dont require a patch.. if no workie, then redownload sbf.
rsd lite 4.8 is here http://www.multiupload.com/HL0ZAL9GK8
I can't remember the order I did it in so I'll re-install with the instructions you gave. Thank you! I'll report back.
I have an Acer 500a I just bought off carigslist. Initially I thought it would be fine but then I realized I was inheriting someone elses problems. I hope someone may be able to help.
Within the first few hours I was noticing google Play crashed a number of times and struggled to update from Market. Somehow the update went through but now there is a system update that won't go through. I'm able to down load it and when i restart the computer to complete installation the screen goes black and says: booting recovery kernel in the corner. I then see a picture of an android and a load bar which after 2-4 seconds the android is on his back and an exclaimation mark is coming out of his belly.
My android version is 3.2
Kernel version
2.6.36.3+
Build number
Acer_a500_7.006.01_COM_GEN2
I'm pretty sure its rooted and i think that might be why its not playing nice with google market and system updates. I called the old owner and explained the problem and he just said he had it rooted and he thought he unrooted it. There is an ap called superuser in aps. (although if it were rooted would'nt I be able to uninstal some of thecrap software it comes with like GOLF HD? -- it won't let me).
The system update is for Acer_a500_7.014.01_COM_GEN2 8.88mb
My problem is all of the force closes I'm getting and the inability to update the system. Any thoughts? I don't have a usb cord to connect it to a desktop either =(
I am a bit out of practice, but...
Should be pretty simple to fix. From what I am seeing, you are running a stock rom. Just because the superuser.apk is installed on the system does not mean it is rooted, but it probably is.
Hit the market, grab "Root Checker" - simple tiny program to let you know for sure if your tab is rooted or not.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=burrows.apps.rootchecker&hl=en
From what I understand - automatic system updates will fail when trying to apply them to a rooted or modded system. Probably why you cannot auto-update.
My advice at this point would be to:
1) Since you just bought it, just do a factory wipe on it. That will remove all the stuff the prior owner had running on it and will result in a unrooted tab that should be able to get auto updates without a problem.
2) Un-Root it. Once the tablet is unrooted, the system should update without any issue.
As for your Play Store issues - I have never heard of or personally seen any issues caused with installing apps from the store on a rooted device. I have seen a few apps that will refuse to run on a rooted device - but that does not sound like your problem.
I would go with option 1 - just factory wipe the thing. Prior owner may have made tons of changes to the OS that we will never know about, and may have handed you a unstable system. Start fresh. Wipe it out.
Hope this helps you out! Let me know if I can answer any questions.
k thank you so much for the quick reply! I downloaded the root checker and it Is rooted. I did a factory wipe as found in the settings privacy tab when I bought it. That factory reset did not unroot and only cleaned out some of the aps on the device. Is there a better or more surefire way to unroot it? If I reset with the volume down key will it hard reset it?
Thank you for you help!
Draight
Okay.
I am about a year out of practice with my a500 - but from what I am think, if a factory reset still results in a rooted device - the prior user installed a stock ROM that comes pre-rooted.
I highly doubt being rooted is causing the issues you are running into.
At this point if you just want to get back to stock you can probably just install the Acer Recovery Manager from the market and use it to reflash a stock unrooted ROM. Or I see a few guides about how to manually restore back to stock over in the dev section for the a500.
Others will correct me if I am wrong, but I think Acer Recovery Manager should take care of your problem.
Hope this helps!
(Edit: Or you can just download the official stock 4.x rom (ICS) from the dev section and flash that. 3.2 is pretty slow and wonky in my experience, you should be able to just download a 4.x ROM and flash, since you are rooted. Again, I am way out of practice. Don't do anything before reading up!)
(Edit again: I think I was making this harder then needs be. Just flash any stock 3.2 unrooted ROM, done. After you do that the automatic on the air update should kick in for you and update you to ICS)
Thanks for taking the time to work with me on this. I downloaded the program you suggested and tried to use a stock rom. When i went to reboot I had a picture of an android looking up at an exclaimation mark. It was froze like that until I restarted it. Now its back to the way it was, rooted and unupdatable.
I'm probably going to try to just wipe it all over but do i need to plug it into my computer somehow? I dont have a usb connector for the tablet, just the wall charger plugin. can i just download a rom and use the utility to try install it? when I reboot it am I supposed to be pressing the volume button?
I've read a few other forums but usually they sound pretty intense...

Hmmm..
Try the thread I linked two in my second edit of my last post. You just need to grab the stock and unrooted 3.2 - put it on a MicroSD card as update.zip - then reboot with vol rocker and power switch to get the system to flash the update.
That *should* work just fine.
(Edit: Forgot the link! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1839313 - there you go)
Thankw, I am going to try it after readingna bit more. Do I need to have clockworkmod installed for all of this?

Nope. Just snag the stock unrooted 3.2 ROM - place it in the root of the MicroSD card as update.zip
Power down.
Power up with VOL + and POWER key held at the same time (you can let the vol rocker go when you see text appear in the upper left corner)
Should be all you need to do. Worst case; it does not work and returns you back to where you are now. Worth a shot.
If that does not work, let me know so I can do a few mins of homework and help you further. Been a long time since I have changed ROMS or had any issues with my a500.
I have bricked it twice by not following directions all the way or just making simple mistakes, but from what I have found there is always a way to recover.
Just tried it. I copied the boot zip to sd card and renamed update.zip and reset..It looked like it was going to download after showing some text in the corner and then an exclamation mark appeared above the androids head... I left it and after a few.min it rebooted back

Thanks for trying to help. =(
I wish that my tablet wasn't having such issues. I;m going to try to scramble around the forums and see if I can find some advice...If anyone has a suggestion please let me know.
Thanks again entropy,

Update:
So I've been tinkering around with it a bit more and I found a usb cord that plugs it into my computer. I keep finding boken links on this site so Im struggling to find an update I can use to flash to. I downloaded a different super user program which allowed me to temporarily unroot my device. I then restarted it and no root checker says its no rooted and I cannot find the superuser program. I think I have somewhat unrooted it -- but I think the real issue now is the recovery tool. I keep reseting it - hard reset, or factory reset and it wipes everything away but when i try to update it gets about 1/3 of the way up the bar then it stops with an '!' Mark above the droid. Im kind of annoyed at this point and hoping for some new links or some ideas on how to repair the recovery piece.

Go to the Dev section, and grad a couple of the ICS Update roms. You will see them listed for the a500. Make sure they are the FULL update roms. Should be about 3-400mb. These contain a FULL ICS Update Rom, and not a patch file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1816560
Then, go to the Themes and apps forum. You'll see a sticky that has the Acer Update Decrypter.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1869505
Now, unpack the decrypter, and select one of the ICS Updates. Then hit Start. Take a couple minutes, but you will have a duplicate file with the word "decrypted" added to it.
Wait, you are not done yet.
Using a program like 7zip, or even Winzip, open the decrypted file. DO NOT EXTRACT, just open it and pull the update.zip to your PC's desktop.
Copy that update.zip file to your Ext SD Card of the tablet. Don't be putting it in any folder, just copy it to the root of the card.
Now, you still ain't done.
With the tablet off. Press and hold Vol+ and then PWR. Hold them both untill you start to see text about installing blah blah blah, then release the buttons.
If it completes, and you can reboot into ICS, then you are good to go.
If something fails during installation, then decrypt the other update Rom file you downloaded, and do the same procedure. Usually one of the 2 or three should work for you.
Note these are for the a500, and not the a501.
One more thing. It's advisable you get your UID number before doing these things. You probably won't need it, but it's nice to have written down in case you need it in the future. Inf to get it is at;

Thanks! I am downloading a few of the FULL ICS roms:

Acer_A500_1.031.00_PA_CUS1: http://d-h.st/idO

*Acer_A500_7.014.16_041.206.01_COM_GEN1: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_bk...hVc1RVcHc/edit
The I downloaded the ones ending with Gen1. Once they are downloaded I will continue with the instructions. Thank you so much for your help! I will post how it goes later tonight.

I just decrypted both:
*Acer_AV041_1.054.00_WW_GEN1:
*Acer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1
Both get get to the third bullet quickly and the bottom says DONE! It takes like 4 seconds. I don't think the Decryption key of $12 is working
[*] Opening file: Acer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1.zip
[*] Decrypting using key $12
[*] Writing decrypted file: Acer_A500_1.031.00_WW_GEN1_decrypted.zip
I try to extract something from the decrypted file and it says the file was not downloaded properly and I should try redownload it...it says its not a proper archive
wahoo!
So that worked! I down loaded the file Acer_AV041_A500_1.033.00_PA_CUS1 and extracted the update. I palced the update on the sd card and booted with the power and sound volume pressed down. it went through the installation procedure and restarted twice before saying it was upgrading my aps and BOOM its got ICS and everything looks great. Thank you so much for your help and I hope that this paper trail is able to help someone in the future
My problem is that I'm on ICS and I'm rooted, but I just can't download a custom recovery. I've tried, and I haven't gotten anywhere

Hey guys so I am facing weird problems. I have searched through the forums either I cant find anything or I am too scared to do any more experiments I really dont want to loose my Razr M XT 907.
Problems
Laggy performance at times
Camera gets stuck when I take pictures at times then I have to restart.
when I reboot my phone it shows AP Fast boot screen, then I have to access boot menu and select the second last option (Console something). It always shows Null:Null and when I change it back the phone reboots normally
Phone hangs sometimes and then responds with everthing I have clicked all at once.
The screen on off button responds a second late
I think you guys can help me better if I tell you what I did to this phone exactly since I got this phone.
What I did
I initially bought this phone with defaul OS 4.0.1 in Pakistan.
I then installed a Verizon system update of 250 MB that got my phone stuck on a boot loop (and made me cry almost)
I restored my phone to the settings it came in using this procedure
http://www.andromods.com/tips-trick/how-to-restore-unroot-droid-razr-m-xt907-stock-original-firmware.html
The phone worked fine for 2 days but then I got that update prompt again and it got annoying so I though maybe If i upgrade it to JB using the same RSD Lite method but a different ROM that may solve it.
So I applied the above Procedure using this ROM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250155
The method showed as Passed on RSD Lite but the phone got stuck on bootloop again so I paniced and tried restoring my phone abck to ICS using the method mention in the first link provided.
Then the phone got stuck on AP Boot Menu
Then I used DROID_RAZR_M_Utility_1.20 and used both methods 1 and two but it didnt work
Then out of the blue I went to the boot menu and I saw an option Switch Console (Null:null) I pressed up key on and null null changed to default:tty something it and the phone booted up just fine back to ICS
Now everytime I power off the phone it goes to AP Boot menu showing FASTBOOT REASON: Sticky bit factory_fastboot and I have to do the above to restart the phone.
What I need
Please help me restore my phone I dont want to brick it, I am a simple user I will need step by step guide
Anyone ?
Bump
Bump still looking for a solution
I have CM10 on mine and the camera is completely broken
Enter fastboot oem fb_mode_clear and problem gone.

Hi!
I know that that I am mentioning now very old device as Motorola Defy MB525 green lense.
I wanted to flash Cyanogenmod 10.1 again in my Defy. I did full wipe and removed some folders on SD card reffering to old apps.
And it seems I messed up with Clockworkmod Recovery folder on SD and I left myself without it. And I tried to reinstall it using official guide found here: wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_jordan[/url]
But I did not unpack all the files, so the installation was not fulfilled and I got like empty Android boot menu 0.6.1 without possibility to boot an operating system or to do anything (got errors whatever I choose: E:Error in /system/bootmenu/script/recovery.sh)
I have read tons of online materials and forums, and I could only restore stock Defy ROM 2.3.4 using RSD lite.
And I didn't find solution how to reinstall the boot menu :crying: So that is why I am asking you for help.
I can run only Download Mode and this useless Android Boot Menu.
How to reinstall Android boot menu/install custom recovery back?
I like my Defy and I do not want to put it in the drawer yet
Thank you in advance!
Vixificent
The bootmenu is housed in the partition system.
All you have to do is flash the stock firmware, root with Framaroot (app) and install the bootmenu and recovery with 2nd init (app). After this simply download the rom and gapps, you do wipe cache, data, dalvik cache and flash it (first rom, then gapps).

Thank you for your reply and suggestion! But the thing is that I cannot boot the device, so usage of any apk is not possible. When I run my Defy it goes directly to Android Boot menu 0.6.1, which is not installed properly (source files missing, eg. ".sh" files).
Should I try to root it via computer? Then, how to do it with only Download Mode available?
Any help would be appreciated!

YOu can recover your device using an appropriate .sdf file and a program called RSD Lite. There are many how-tos on this - the first one I found was http://www.locslikes.com/motorola-defy/unbrick-and-restore-to-default-sbf/. You'll also find a number of tutorials on these forums.

I have a similar issue. How did you do the fix you used? The SBF files don't seem to be on the site you were referred to anymore.
Years ago, my unmodified (not rooted) Defy (running Android 2.2.1) started to boot loop, so I eventually did a factory reset. That worked for a while, although certain apps were suddenly no longer compatible) and then suddenly the defy froze on the Moto logo (not even cycling to the Blur screen) and I could no longer get to the reset screen.
However I could still get to the bootloader, so I tried to use RDS lite.
I got one sbf to say it passed, but the phone did not reboot. (I could only find 2 SBF's for the US and only got one to work). Now RDS will detect whether the phone is on or off (and if on I'll get a white LED) and I can flash the sbf still, but otherwise the phone is completely bricked - can't get to reset OR bootloader screen.
When I plug the phone into the USB the white LED comes on, but I can't raise ANYTHING on the screen (reset screen or bootloader screen, holding down the volume up or down w/ the power button). However pressing the power button alone does cause the computer to recognize hardware is plugged in, or alternately disconnected. RSD tells me a device is connected, but the only info given is the bootloader version and AP ID info (whatever that is). However, when I load the SBF, the phone lights up and says SW update in progress...
RSD tells me the phone is being rebooted and has passed, but screen goes dark and all I see i the white LED again.
I tried these two SBFs:
T-Mobile_MB525_6.19.0_1FF.sbf
JORDN_U3_6_36_0_SIGNED_USAJRDNTMOB1B4B5DE1028_0R_J ORDANTMO_P022_HWp3_Service1FF.sbf
Only the 1st one works.
I am not that tech savy regarding Android, so i am looking for some help.
Thanks!
Hi DefyVictim,
I understand your concerns - the restore process is a little bit complicated, but still not impossible. There is a strange procedure how to get your phone connected in such a way that RSD lite sees it. In the link given by robbak there is a video which is an exactly described tutorial. Did you follow it carefully?
It goes like - you need to FIRST get the bootloader and then connect it to the PC. If I understood it right, you tried to get the bootloader after you got the phone connected - which did not work.
I had a similar issue but finally figured it out. Oh, and there was just another thing - the battery was too low, so I had to do quite risky McGyver method to charge the battery somehow (no charging when your phone is bricked!), but be careful, this is potentially dangerous. Nothing happend for me, because I charged my phone for a minimum of time (like half an hour) to get it working.
Check this thread if you face battery low warning:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=892026
I know now it is a pain to get a SBF file, but not sure if the T-mobile should be working unless your phone wasn't coming from T-mobile (?)
