Hello. Suddenly my HTC Touch 2 front speaker doesn't work.
I say suddenly because a few hours ago I did a call and all worked fine but now I can't hear any call from that speaker. If I enable the back speaker I can hear the other person.
Can somebody help me or it's hardware problem? I tried some things but not all because if it's hardware I want to use the warranty I think the device still have.
EDIT: Problem solved?
I did a hard-reset and it still didn't work so I restored my config with SPB Backup and after a few tries it worked so I'm not sure, maybe the speaker is dying slowly. Hope this help.
Note: I didn't change the ROM (movistar official rom) but that's not the case of the radio I changed months ago. When I restored with SPB it told me that were a different rom (I think talking about radio) so I overwrote those old files for the new ones.

I have a problem with my XDA Exec, basically, the internal phone speaker doesn't seem to work. External one is fine (the one on the outside of the case) but the one next to the screen does nothing.
It did work when I first bought it. I have since upgraded to the latest o2 rom. However I cannot remember if it stopped working exactly then or later!! Daft I know!
So I just wanted to ask if anyone else had this problem after upgrading the rom (I am using 1.30.107 WWE, radio version 1.09.00), and if so, is there a way to fix it? If there is no one else with this then I guess it is a hardware fault and will return it for repair, but wanted to check.

Anyone? I don't mind if the answer is just "Mine works fine", I just want to know if anyone else has experienced this with the same rom version as mine, before I condemn it and return it to the shop.
I have the same o2 rom as you mentioned, and have encountered no problems. Im sure its a hardware problem, caused by dropping the phone etc, rather than a software one.
o2 offer a free replacement within 1 month if you got it directly from them, or I suppose you could get it repaired from somewhere. Im not sure if the speaker is covered under warranty, but might be worth a shot!

By the way, are you sure the incall volume is turned up!!! Just making sure!
If it is, why not try a hard reset just to see if it helps!
Just gone through the same problem.
First of all try to put the jack of the headset inside the hole and twistle it.
If it doesn't solve the problem, I'm afraid you need a replacement.
I had the same problem a week ago. Every speaker worked, except the one next to the display. The problem appeared somehow over night ... I definitely didn't drop the phone or did something "rude" with it.
Unfortunately, I don't have the original headset to exercise this plugin/plugout/twisteling method as mentioned by lautunno, so I tried this with a regular headphone. Without direct success
A hard reset didn't change anything.
... but after a few days of trying almost everything, the speaker started to work again and still works without any interruptions :?
I'm not sure if it's really hardware related because there are so many people with the same problem and almost everyone of them has fixed the problem by just powercycling the phone many times, plugging the headset in and out, fiddling around with the phone app, etc.
As far as I know, the radio firmware is responsible for addressing this speaker (because it's only useable as a phone speaker) and this part of the device firmware doesn't get resetted when you do a hard reset. Maybe it stores some settings (like headphone mode?) in an EEPROM or something like this.
Anyway, good luck and keep trying.

ps.: I'm also using the O2 firmware (1.30.96 GER) but I've upgraded the radio stack to version 1.11.00.
Hi people, I hope you can help me. On the first call, everything works fine, then the speaker start emitting noise and if I make another call, I can not ear the voice of the people i called and they can not ear me. I've tried different radio version and different rom (now I'm with the original one). The problem started after i've installed khanx's rom, but i don't think is something related to it. what can I do?

Hi, I believe is also related to radio. If not, i suggest to test a different ROM with its recommended Radio.

hello i receive my g1 yesterday. very happy so far. only problem i notice. is that my speaker stops working. what i mean is that one moment the speaker works and after some second i hear a little noise and stops works. after some seconds is working again. and this is happening all the time. does any body had this problem before

I have the same problem. It's happened twice on me now after the phone has been booted up for about 70 hours both times. Pretty much this is what happens for me...
Out of no where I notice that my Loud Speaker volume just weakens tremendously and becomes slightly crackly (very feint) as if it can't play at that volume anymore. After a reboot it works like normal. Although I don't know whats causing the problem. I'm on stock cupcake firmware right now.
Yea addiosamigos was right. I was asking about if your phone is rooted? What rom are you using? Did you do any audio hacks? And anything else helpfull that you might have done to your phone.
Hello sorry for the delay. Yes my phone is rooted and iuse acyanogen 4.01 rom now I didn't do any audio hacks. The problems existed before I rooted the phone. And two day ago my earpiece speaker died also. Don't know what's happening with my g1. Does anybody know where I can find spare parts for my g1

If it has happened on the stock rom and custom roms and wipes or different roms don't solve the problem then most likely a hardware issue. I would contact T-Mobile or HTC for a warranty replacement before trying to fix it yourself. The phone is still under a year old so its still covered.

You can still contact HTC and see if they will cover it. The phone is still under a year old.
During a phone call today the microphone on my HTC HD2 stopped working - I can hear conversations fine but callers cannot hear me anymore - or only very faint. It works fine if I use a Bluetooth headset. By now I tried soft resets as well as also a hardware reset back to factory defaults with no success...I don't have a functional microphone on the unit itself. Anyone experienced this? Any ideas? Emailed HTC support with no response yet...

Try testing it with the voice recoder program, just to confirm its definately the mic..
Same thing - it does not record anything. What a a bummer...TC

Yeah, it is a great phone and I love the screen and resolution and responsiveness. But being able to make a phone call is still kind of important on a phone...
Now I get to ship this thing around the globe and hope to get something which last more then 10 days the next go around :-(

If you are in the USA there is usually a 14 day period (30 days in California). I highly suggest you run down to a tmobile store and have it replaced.
Tried rebooting (or even hard resetting) your device? Maybe its a driver or radio problem...
i heared installing fring or skype gives problem like this...is there any fix for that..

I used to have this problem with my Hermes when I installed WOW HD settings... try a hard reset and/or Task 29 and then use the same stock ROM or a cooked one... (do a backup first)
Did someone solve this problem and how?I`ve sent my phone 3 times for guaratntee repair and nothing.

Has anyone found a solution for this problem? My problems started yesterday, the person on the other side can't hear me, while i'm still able to hear them. It started outta the blue, it was fine and just stopped working, without any changes at all.
I have tried 4 different radios and 3 different roms and still the same. Also tried using voice recorder with every change made and nothing happened.
i Bought the phone while on a trip and do not have any warranty or proof of purchase.

I think i have just found a solution (kinda).
As is said i was getting desperate, so i got a toothpick and stuck into the microphone hole and voila, it worked!!!! well i don't know if i might have damaged anything or this probably won't do any good for the phone or the microphone but it worked for me. please try at your own risk.

Hi I have a serious problem with the call, I connect you hear cracking noises from my speaker phone, just a bag of chips if you hear cracking, while the person whom I am call may hear me well mean. I already have about 7 different ROMS been trying, even patched back into lower stock roms, all radio versions tried, unfortunately nothing helps, I hope that someone can make me see the solution through some registery tweak .my unit is only 5 weeks old. . in advance than any solution.

I would restore factory SPL version with carrier`s ROM and send it back to the store (as long as you have valid warranty). It looks like hardware issue for me.
