Can you load custom ROM's on an EVO 4G that has been flashed to Boost? Looking into getting one but want to put AOSP ROM on the phone but don't want to screw up settings to use it on Boost.

You can load any rom you want on Boost Evo's and it won't mess up the settings. The only setting that you may need to go back and fix is the MMS setting for Boost. Some roms may change it to Sprint. Just make a nandroid in recovery before you start flashing.

No, but not all ROM's may work properly.
you'll likely have trouble with MMS if using a rom intended for a phone on the Sprint network. That's really about it.

You can but it will require a rooted phone. My first evo I bought I flashed it to cricket and it is no different on the newer roms. The main problem I had was mms did not properly work until jimmy for evo. I rarely am in these evo sections cause I have other devices to concentrate on. My recommendations are root your phone. Do a search for flashing to cricket here and other places for evo, then find a rom with proper epts support. Once that is done, learn CDMA master to change settings if you cannot do it via epts. I am sorry I cannot be anymore help, it has been a long time since I messed with cricket. I switched over to sprint because I was fed up with cricket internet and mms crap. Hope this helps. I had to learn on my own and google is your best friend.

You can flash any ROM, the thing is this, you may have to replace some of the files that you copied over. I run MikGs rom on my Evo flashed to cricket. There is a tut somewhere in this section that works for ANY ROM. That is why I keep the files I may need (telephony.db for example) on my SD card.
But the other items that you changed that require EPST remain untouched. Just the u2nl file you might need if you're on the 45 plan and of course, the telephony.db along with the apn file

You can flash any kernel on top of any ROM. The kernel doesn't touch anything related to the flash or files needed to function on Cricket.

if the phone was flashed before going to a different rom then the qpst settings dont need to be changed, if the rom you changed to is aosp then you need the data fix for cm7/miui but if not and your data isnt working then you need to set your proxy settings again, thats iff your on a proxy plan. but if not on a proxy plan then somehow the qpst settings did get messed up and you need to double check them on a touchwiz based roms.

a bad flash could screw up it meid (from experience) but i doubt it will happen
im on 3.5 now, there is NO EPST, so grab apn backup/restore from market & back up your apn
flash it

just sold a rooted evo 4g, and the sprint store employee had trouble activating phone on new account. stated that some rooted phones cannot be activated because the device will properly update the profile/prl.
looking for some help on this, more sprint store bs or true situation. have another phone to sell.
Put a stock rooted Rom on it and you should be able to activate it without any problems. I know my buddy had a problem activating his phone when it had cyanogenmod on it. Once flashed back to rooted stock he had no problems.

Aosp ,sense 3.0/3.5 and ICS roms cannot be activated on the Evo 4g because they have no Epst.APk to access the dialer codes and programming menu required for activation. Any rom based on an official stock Evo rom or a rom with the Epst.apk will work for activation, once activated you can simply restore the aosp, sense 3.0/3.5 or ICS backup you created prior to flashing the stock rooted rom

OK - Mik based his his on official release of 2.3 so should be OK.

As long as the rom is based on an Evo build (4.24, 4.67, etc) or states it has a working epst.apk it will work, I think Miks is a 2.1+3.0 rom as long as it was based off of the Evo shift for the 2.1 portion it should have epst.apk included and working, if it was ported from a phone for a different carrier it won't work unless the modified epst.apk was added in. I always use tommytomatoes classic to activate cuz its based off of the evo's own sense 1.0 roms and has the original epst.apk so i know it works 100% of the time. Nothing like being in the middle of activating the phone with chat or on a call and having to say "can you hold on a sec I need to flash a different rom to get my programming menu working" and then making them hold for 5 mins while you boot to recovery, wipe, flash, reboot and get into the dialer and access the menu to do the activation. I've done it a few times now, forgetting I was on cm7 and having to flash a sense rom to activate the phone
