[Q] Floyo 0.30 Wifi tethering issue - XPERIA X8 General

Hi !
I would like to ask if someone has any solution for Wifi tethering on X8 (running Floyo 0.30) using for e.g. Barnacle Wifi Tether app ? The problem is that everything seems to start without any problems in Barnacle, but I'm unable to connect to ad-hoc network created by Barnacle. PC is not receiving an IP address...
I tried also Open Garden Wifi tether, but it shows, that I don't have something necessary in OS.
Wifi Tether for Android is also showing similiar warrning and after overriding the warrning it shows NAT errors when trying to set up ad-hoc network.
I read some other posts about Wifi tethering on X8 (most of them are old, so I set up a new one) and Wifi tethering with Barnacle seems to work OK on MiniCM6 and some other custom ROM's, but everybody have troubles with running it on Floyo (0.20, 0.25 and me - 0.30).
Maybe some developer could kindly review our problem and find some solution ? I would be grateful for any help in this topic.
Regards,
Chris.

[Q] Working Barnacle wifi tether?

I was just wondering if there is a working wifi tether for the htc hd2 running android OS. Im currently using mattc's froyo 1.8 w/sense and I installed barnacle and it connects, however there is no network access/internet access and it doesnt show me connected to my laptop from my hd2. Just wondering if anyone here knows how to get it up and working
I have the same problems with my HD2 configuration (look at signature).
Connection working but no internet access.
Same problem here no internet
most of the newer builds have native tethering working fine, might be something to look into.

[Q] Wifi tethering doesn't work on any build

Hi folks,
im running Android in my HD2 for 2 months now and the results are great! The only thing that aint working is WiFi tethering. I can connect to my HD2, it says connected but no Internet access. I also see and exclamation mark in my wifi signal in Windows. How can i solve this? Is there any solution?
I am using MDJ RevolutionHD 1.2
Hastarin's kernel 8.6
VBN Clarity rom
2.15x.x.x radio
Hope someone can help me!
Thnx in advance!
check the dns server on your computer. Maybe you need to specify it.

Your router may have "Mac Address" enabled.
Add phone IP address to computer.
Change your DNS settings.
Check my thread link for WiFi Tether app, WiFi Tether does not work on builds, need outside app to work.
When i download ur wifi tether app and press the tether it says: "Unable to tether"?
I dont use MAC filtering. And in windows i dont need to adjust my DNS. Do i have to do this in Android?

Make sure WiFi is on, yes, you may need to change the DNS settings on Android. When you scan for you device, does your computer recognize the signal? In "Wifi Tether" settings make sure a "LAN" is chosen.
not working...
Same issue here, have tried various apks, leaving wifi on, toggling wifi on and off before launching the wireless-tether app as well as the "android.tether" folder workaround (put it in root of sd), to no avail.
Connection is there but the connection is limited, with the exclamation mark, both on XP and W7 64 bit.
Are there any other settings that have to be made?
Is it something missing in the android build or the kernel!
I am on HD2ONE 3.6, Hastarin 8.6 undervolt, vbn reloaded 3.14 base and radio 2.15.
Thx for your help!

In your task bar: R click on the internet connection icon/open network sharing/change adapter settings/R click wireless network,connections/properties/ipv4: make sure the settings are set to automatic. Also, double check that you are not on an allowed MAC address setting within your router.
still no luck...
Thanks for your reply, I have checked the ipv4 settings on both my xp and w7 laptop, they were both on automatic already...
As for the other suggestion I am not 100% sure if I understood correctly, I have however unplugged my wireless router at home to make sure that there is no interference, unfortunately to no avail.
When I look at the log everything seems good, all the instances are marked "done" and the connection is established, it is only "limited"/"restriceted" though (meaning no i-net access), also the wireless tether app does not show any connected clients?
Thanks again for your help!

UPDATE:
still nothing working in rgds of wireless tether...
EasyTether works however, but with the ppp builds you lose connection every other second...

Make X8 a WLAN Hotspot

Is it possible to make a Wlan Hot Spot with the X8? It is available but doesnt work for me in Racht's CM7.
Thank you for your answers!

Use barnacle wifi tether from the market.
But is it posible on 2.1 for ex. or is it possible only on specific version of Android. I have miniCM 1.0.0 2.2.1 and it says that i don't have the type of android that supports tethering.
Thank you ponanovn,
works with the tool from market!

[Q] Issue with wifi hotspots

I've tried a few SD android roms on my HTC HD2. I'm currently using Rafdroid and and like this one but it also has the same wifi issue.
The problem that I keep on encountering is I can access internet, market using the home wifi connection, but when I find a wifi hotspot eg. McDonalds it opens and connects to the wifi but I can't browse or install apps from Market.
Can someone please help me? Confused as to why no problems on home wifi but issues at wifi hotspot.
Thanks

[Q] Upgraded MS2 Froyo to Gingerbread, now Mobile Hotspot doesn't work any more?

Has anyone got Mobile Hotspot to work on their MS2 after the upgrade to Gingerbread?
I've been having problems - Tte MS2 properly assigns an IP address to PCs that try to connect to it over WiFi, but the connection doesn't seem to go past my MS2 to the Internet. Same thing whether USB or WiFi.
I'm on T-mobile on the USA - could that have something to do with it, some kind of authentication is being performed now (that wasn't being performed on Froyo?)
I had this problem too.
Now I use the app "barnacle wifi tether" and it works fine.
I'm from Brazil...
Sent from my MotoA953 using XDA App
Thanks for the suggestion. If I root my phone I'll consider that option. Has anyone found any other fixes? I tried playing with the APN settings as suggested by some online, but it doesn't seem to help.

Usb sharing is f*d up - dnsmasq does not launches properly and phone gives no IP in response to dhcp req from pc. I don't remember, if setting an IP and gw manually solves the problem.
However launching _both_ sharing method at once helped. DHCP worked fine. Maybe launching wifi hotspot alone generates similar problem?
Did a factory reset and now Mobile Hotspot works!
Haven't tried USB tethering yet, will report back when I do.
Great! I also had this problem and this tip helped me.
Mobile Hotspot works but haven't got USB tethering to work properly yet. The computer can get an IP address from the phone, but no connection through to the Internet. This is after the factory reset.
Same with me here.. Already did FR but still no go..
Old thread I know but anyone sorted this yet, as its doing my head in, I even changed to a tethering plan in case i was being blocked.
Barnacle Tether doesn't work either same symptoms also says DHCP:Could not bind to DHCP port Address already in use
Use PDA Net, it's available in the Play Store

Could it be your carrier blocking 3G tethering?
Hi
3G tethering is not blocked by carrier as I am on a tethering plan and have spent a long time on the phone to an Indian call centre to sort it.
But joy of joys after trying everything I could think of including re-flashing and wiping all data etc. I have managed to get it working using wifi tether for root user
