Sorry if this sounds stupid but how would I go about making a games folder for all my games. I'm on taboonay so the games have all been removed. If I use a widget would that take me to a location where all games are stored, not apps screen? I've been focusing so much on performance that I've only just got around to personalizing the tab after a month of use!

+2 for folder organizer lite. Once you make your folders and add in all your apps or links I then use the widget Desktop Visualizer to make my own icons.
If you use DV, add the widget and pick the size you want. Then when you see the green outline for the app on the screen choose other, folder organizer link and then pick your folder. It looks very clean with a variety of sizes for the icons. (Before setting it all up though- Just download a pick for your icon and choose it from the gallery when your setting up the widget, or you can just use organizer lites icons)

I'm using astro to view the zip file containing the icons i downloaded but i can't see the icon image when choosing. All have the same file image so it's a painin the arsegoing throughthem all. What am I doing wrong?
Did you unzip the files? Then you have to view the images so that the gallary is associated with them. Then when you set up the DV widget you choose the icon, just have to know where to find them. They don't have to be icons from icon packs though, you can use any small sized JPEG as well.

All sweet with the widgets, how can i just have widgets with icons and no text labelling the folder. Folder organizer won't let me have a link with image only. Is this possible?
The text sayin "games" kind of ruins the nice icon.

how does it work?
it is a plugin that launches apps. and all im saying is to rename it to myspace instead of applications and have it open the myspace app when you clcik on it. the myspace app is in the above link.
it would be cool to have a myspace icon. i need to have the guy who made the icons for the app launcher to create one.
howsabout the attached - just save it into your windows folder and use the clauncher editor to select this file when choosing icons...

thnaks for the icon. i will try it out
it worked. Thanks for the icon. here is a screen shot.
I've been wondering if there's a way to add custom icons for third party apps in MIUI ROM. I know you can change icons of applications by opening the .apk and replacing the icon file inside but MIUI adds its own background for third party apps' icons. So my question is, how can I prevent MIUI from doing that?
The default icons seem to be located in the farmework-res.apk inside "drawable-hdpi-finger" folder. I tried adding new icons there and naming them to "icon_handcent.png" or "icon_handcent_sms.png" etc. but this didn't work.
And just to be clear I don't want any widgets like Desktop Visualizer or BetterCut to make new shortcuts. All of those apps make the new shortcuts as widgets and therefore they can't be added in the dockbar or inside folders.
Thanks in advance

I recon that if you create an icon that is exactly the same size as MIUI makes its icons then you wont be able to see the background it puts behind it.
What happens if you make an app's icon a black square that fills the whole png? Does it obscure any MIUI backgrounds?
ive been trying to add icons to this folder too but not had any luck. Im guessing it is contained in an xml telling the launcher to use those icons in the framework.res instead of the ones inside the apk itself.
Ive looked through a load of xmls in launcher and in framework but cant seem to find it anywhere.
On a side note i have read over on droidforums that by changing the icon for the apk contained in data/system/customized_icons then this will display the new icon of your choosing. So instead of placing your icon in the drawable_hdpi_finger folder, place them in there.

look here guys ^^^^^^^^
you will find all the miui generated 3rd party icons will be in there. Try replacing those (may need to wipe cache to apply, not sure)
and fyi the way miui makes icons is the same as iphone now. It uses icon_mask to limit the drawable size of the original icon, then applyies it on icon_pattern on top of icon_background, and finally places icon_frame over top of it all. all those files are found in framewrok-res.apk inside the drawable-hdpi finger folder
im trying to change the main icons not the customized ones. is there a folder for that? like settings and gallery icons.

Yes, in framework-res.apk there is a folder called drawable-hdpi-finger. All system apps have their icon in there. If you place your new icons in there then they will then be changed on the main screen.
What i still havent worked out is how to add icons in there for other apps such as handcent or dialerone.
i think the default_workspace.xml would need the app and package adding to it but i laso think there would be another step somewhere, not tried it yet.
wheres the framwork-res.apk located?
Is there a way to completely avoid this resize?

Is that the reason why MIUI resize the 3rd party app inside data/system/custom icons??
Is there a way to completely avoid this resize?
I have overwritten the background, for example, and now I have no unwanted background.
I can decide for the border, remove it the same.
But overwrite the icon_mask seems do not change the MIUI resizeing.
What have I to do?
Thank you in advance, to everybody who would help

I struggle finding this folder. Where is it?
I got this folder "system/customize" but no icons there. The "data" folder is empty.
Help please :3

How did you manage to overwrite the background? I found the customized_icons folder but just can't find the icon_background or icon_frame files on my system.

Hi!
I am trying to make my first custom homescreen and ran into some difficulties:
I would like to have a big image on my screen, working as 2 shortcuts:
I would like that if i click the left part of the image one app is launched, but when i click the right part another app is launched.
But the image should be displayed without a gap. I thought that Desktop Visualizer could do the job, but there is allways a gap.
Is there an a app, which allows me to do so???
(I use Launcher Pro and set the rows & colums to 5, because that way there is more space But this shouldnt matter... )

Add the "big icon" using DV - Don't assign any app to it, leave it blank.
Add a transparent icon using DV - Assign the first app.
Add another transparent icon using DV - Assign the second app.
.. Yeah. Then use LauncherPro to resize the blank shortcuts to fit the big icon nicely.
Thanks for the tip, it might come in handy.

Thanks for the answer! But I cant figure out how to do this:
I can add the big image. And I also added to transparent images with DV. But I cant move the transparent images over the big image. This doesnt seem to be possible?!???

I know how to change dock icons on launcher pro, but how do I change the other icons on home screen?
Thanks

you need to use something like desktop visualiser or folder organiser
When you add a new shortcut you get an option to change the icon right after selecting the app. Would be so nice if you could change icons on existing shortcuts.

Here's a tutorial on customizing LauncherPro - lots of links to icon & dock collections there, as well as some custom Desktop Visualizer icons.

might be easier just to use adw and get a theme that you like, it's less hassle and changes the icons for you...

Yeah I have ADW all set up and organized with the icons I like.
Thing is, I'm trying LP since yesterday and my Milestone 2 (Droid 2) feels faster and more responsive... And I'm not using live wallpapers or any other bloatware lol.
For example, when I click on a blank spot and click on 'create widget' (normal widgets, not LPP widgets) the menu for the widgets appear instantly. In ADW after I click 'widgets' it takes three seconds for the widget menu to appear.
Same thing with the app drawer, 3 seconds of black screen on ADW and instant on LPP, and I'm using the 3D mode in both.
You can change folder color by using 7Zip, Find your Launcher Pro .APK file right click, select 7Zip, OPen Archive. Drag the res file to your desktop. Click " Drawable-hdpi find the PNG folder files, should be two(OPENED, and CLOSED). Edit files with Photoshop or whatever program you desire and SAVE. Go to APK folder in 7Zip and delete the res folder. After your done drag the modified res folder back to where you originally grabbed it in the 7Zip file. Install APK on your phone and your folders should all now be your modified version. Caution you will have to un-install Launcher Pro first then redo your folders.
I started playing with Zooper Pro and after figuring out how to use it, I think I did ok. I am a Star Trek fan, but found that most LCARS themes were too busy and not actually usable. This is my first attempt at making my own home screen, so feedback is welcome.
I'm using Nova Launcher on a Galaxy S7. The calendar is Simple Calendar Widget and the weather is Eye In The Sky. The folders (orange icons in the lower center) are a mix of Zooper widgets pointing to folders created in Folder Organizer. The icon pack is Whitcons
Still to do:
-Skin the folders themselves to look like an LCARS window opening up.
-Skin the app drawer to match
-Figure out how to theme the lockscreen as well without breaking Samsung Pay.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears. I'll tweak some things and post here. If not, I can post zips.

The "Environmental" section (weather) doesn't look right to me, but I can't figure out how to change it to make it work.
Awesome work you've done there. Is there still progress on the Widgets?
I'm very interested in it.
