Why don't you just take a look at one of the countless guides within these forums? Here's a hint, there's a search function buddy
And on a closing note, this should've been posted in Q&A.

Ok. Go to google; type in SEUS - Sony Ericsson Update Service
Download and install the .exe
Then update it the way it tells you to, then your done!
BTW: you have lost all your data. Unfortunately. Next time maybe some reading would help lol.

tnhx, SEUS solved tfe problem

You said you had xrecovery and made a back up before you installed the new ROM.
Were you going from a 2.2 ROM,to a custom gb ROM?
If you were, did you install the ROM and then the pre rooted kernel/baseband before you turned your phone on?
Because if you installed a custom GB ROM without the right kernel it will get stuck on the SE logo.. Just a thought.
If you did have the right kernel/baseband, maybe wiping delvik-cache and fixing permissions right after you install the ROM might help if it happens again.

I might of bricked my phone.

Okay I messed up I rooted my phone and updated it, and I tried to take a chance to put the hero rom on my phone, and now it's stuck on the install icon. I take the battery out and try to access recovery mode and it won't get off that screen.
What happened? I was wondering if someone would help me out here. Please.
What is the "install icon"? Your post doesn't make sense... can you describe what you're seeing?
Also, can you enter bootloader by holding down the camera button while powering up?
it's a box with a phone next to it. and no it won't let me enter bootloader. the same stuff came on.

If you can't enter bootloader or recovery, then you're definitely bricked. However, simply trying to flash a Hero ROM wouldn't do that. Did you flash the new radio and SPL?
I don't understand why newbs insist on flashing straight to a Hero ROM once they've rooted... you HAVE to update to a regular ROM first in order to flash an upgraded recovery, then flash radio, then SPL, then Hero ROM.
It was totally a noob move. I'm new to this whole thing and saw this youtube video of this guy running android and hero 2.0.1 on his g1 and like wanted it so bad and now I'm paying for it cause my phone is slammed stuck.
The Hero rom actually didn't do it, it was the radio update that was given with the hero rom that did it.
What Hero ROM did you use? Can you post a link? If you had flashed the SPL already, then flashed the updated radio afterwards, then yeah.. that would do it.

Yea thats what I did. Son of a *****, I knew I should of just waited until T-Mobile released 2.0 for the G1, but NO I had to "HAVE" it. ****!
That sucks man... did you buy your phone from T-mobile recently? If so, you could get it exchanged by telling them that there was some update, and then afterward it just gets stuck at that screen.
naw i got it about eight monthes ago. i bought two, one for me and one for my girl.
If you bought it brand new 8 months ago, it should still be under warranty. Call T-mobile if you ordered it online or over the phone, or take it back to the store if you bought it from there. They'll replace it for you.
Just don't tell them what you were doing... play dumb and act like you don't know what happened. Tell them there was some message about an update and you hit ok, then when it rebooted it got stuck.

Thats a actual hero rom for the Hero phone, you needed the ported one for the G1 / Dream.
I know its no help now the damage is done, but once you get the phone sorted.
As others have said just act dumb with tmobile and you should get it replaced.

Just flash a donut ROM after you root the replacement. Dwang's is a good choice, as it includes Terminal Emulator, which comes in handy to flash to an updated Recovery. I recommend Amon_RA's latest v1.5.2. Once you have flashed the updated recovery, THEN you should flash the updated Radio, THEN the Danger SPL. Follow the directions in my sig for flashing the Radio and SPL. Then you'll have to flash Dwang's ROM again, since the SPL flash will throw your phone into a bootloop. Just don't freak out. Make sure you read the tutorials and ask us questions if anything's unclear.

my X10a isnt updated to latest build number?

hello
from what i have been reading build number should be R2BA026.
mine is still R2BA023, is this normal?
i have ran SEUS, and the "software update" on my phone and they all show its updated
Are you branded or unbranded
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
Yes its normak if you have a brandet version. That means your carrier need to send out the firmware to seus. They maybe just eaitet fir the android 2.1 update. Instead of rolling 26 aswell

i have a X10a through telstra, its also rooted.

mate, u will either need to debrand completely, or flash your phone with a different ROM
(or is that basically the same thing !) i flashed my optus branded x10 with global generic (i think its UK or Nordic) and all is good.
another benefit of this is that u wont have to wait for Helstra to get their finger out and have a 2.1 branded ROM for you. if you have a generic rom, then you get the 2.1 update as soon as its available (via seus obviously)
cheers, tim
edit: when you run SEUS - it checks what version you have (telstra) and then looks in the dB for the latest telstra rom available. telstra have only published/released up to the version you are running, therefore "no updates available". If you were running a generic version, when you connected up to SEUS it would be looking for a different version. hope that is a bit clearer
if i completly debrand it, and something happens to it, can i just brand it again and send it back, kinda like. rooting then un-rooting ect
?

Also does you optus My account widget works in your phone, coz mine doesn't show data usage.
I contacted optus to find out why and they had no idea that we got a widget in the first place

sure can mate, look at the decrypted ROMS page in the DEV section. But unless something serious goes wrong, you will never load a telstra rom on it again

I found that optus were the quickest of the Aussies, but still they would be a few weeks behind. You will NOT get the update within the same day as it gets released - put it that way.

right, im gunna want a bit of confirmation from others here....been a while since i did this.
using Bin4ry's post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=711907 i grabbed the latest files from the fileshare websites listed. basically the files that Bin4ry and the other guys have created are a script (batch files) that prompt you step by step. i know the method is called ROOT but its the same process. To ROOT in this original method, you had to flash back to an older revision of the firmware and then update. When you flash back to the older version, it is a generic version. Then you can simply use SEUS to update to newest. KEEP IN MIND that doing ANY kind of firmware update will completely erase anything on the internal memory. This is NOT the sd card, so pics and such will be ok but contacts - msgs - settings will all be gone. might be best to do the one-press root, install titanium backup first and then backup your phone book and other important apps that you may have.
main thing is to ask questions. there are sh!tloads of ppl on here with heaps of knowledge. be safe in the knowledge that you cannot, CANNOT completely screw your phone. you can always flash another firmware back onto it using SEUS. once ppl hack the bootloader, this will be a different story but until then just get in there and have a go
good luck and happy modding!!

main reason that you would root first is so you can use titanium backup to backup your apps and settings. You will still need to flash to a non branded firmware, jerplea has a few ROMS on his posts, probably best to have a look in those threads and ask the masters

when you say wont work....what do you mean? When running the flash tool are you following the prompts on screen? you need to have USB Debugging enabled on the Settings=>Applications=>Development enabled. let me kow where it is failing and we might be able to get it working for ya....if you are still keen anyway
just been reading through the original post from Bin4ry again (the flashing/rooting one)....i think that you should post on it exactly where the problems are, where it is failing and what you are doing. There are several active users on there that are very knowlegable on flashing

it sounds like a java problem actually.....do you have java installed?
what OS are you on? if its Win7 64bit (or Vista 64bit), there is a 64bit java fix that you need to run also. have a look at this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=713457
if you are on a 32bit machine then chances are its a deviceID issue but from what you have posted above - it looks like the java problem.

Need Desperate help

Hello guys, So I got my phone about a week ago. Bought it used cause didnt wanna shell so much to find the price of it drop down to a 1/4 of it by the end of the year. Anyways, so I have searched the internet left and right for my problems and am a few hours away from being hospitalized lol. First I had to learn so much about the andriod os itself. Then there are versions with their unique names. Then there is rooting and all the ROMS out there. I am in the IT industry, just not on the development side of it and boy oh boy, did I have my hands full. I cant even imagine to think what your avg joe would go thorugh but then the avg joe buys it to surf the web and make calls only lol. Anyways, Im gonna list the problems and will appreciate any help but the driod gurus here.
So the whole time im thinking ok when I buy the phone im going Froyo. When I get the phone it already has it. Im scratching my head thinking, the guy he said he did no updates, its only rooted, how in the world does it have froyo?!?! Then I found out that the later version actually came with froyo from the factory. Ok so then I wanted it unlocked. Well to have it unlocked, you need to have apps, right? Theres no friggin app store on the damn thing!! Im thinking ok lemme do a fresh reset of the phone and it should be back, well that didnt help. Did more research and the guys said that maybe its there, just no icon so try searching on the phone. Well theres nothing there. Then I found out a million others crying over the same issue but theres like no solution that really worked for the majority (at least i didnt come across one). So i thought, you know what, im gonna just post it here and see what responses I get. So help me out guys, how do i go about this?
I guess you can use odin to go back to STOCK JFD.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=13132341#post13132341
Guess you have to skip step 1 though.
I would use odin to go back to the old factory firmware. Then if you want you can use kies to upgrade back to 2.2, or you can root and use a custom rom. I can't begin to tell you how much better this phone is running a custom rom.
Go to settings then list the version and kernel in the 'about' tab. This should tell how much your phone is modded. Also just in case you didn't know, the app store in Android is called market because app store is trade marked by apple.

Not exactly sure what you are asking. Are you trying to reinstall the market app? Are you trying to root the phone? If you just got the phone and have nothing to lose in terms of information, then Odin back to stock 2.1 and then root the phone again and everything should be there. Directions for Odin are on the Team Whiskey website in Shorty's Locker along with the files you will need to accomplish this. READ the directions carefully and you should be fine and forget about reinstalling Froyo. Froyo changed recovery from 2e to 3e which affected Clockwork Mod. If you flash back to 2.1 and reroot you will be able to install custom ROM's, Kernels and Themes without difficulty.
Steps to use:
Get Odin 1.7 or 1.8
Get the USB Samsung Drivers for your PC. NOT STOCK WINDOWS DRIVERS
Download T959UVJFD - This is your baseband
Download 512.pit file - Drive partition
Read the tutorials on Odin and run the restore. You will be back to 2.1 eclair.
Then root the phone again. I use SuperOneClickv1.7 and it works fine.
Not a problem, it just so happens that I have the Market.apk and as long as its rooted (and sounds as if it is) then you should have no problem installing. I got this apk from the forums here on XDA a couple of months ago and it should still work flawlessly, hope I was able to help and good luck!
use odin to back to eclair and re root everything should work
Also you can get everything you need to go back to stock again here and is noob, and expert friendly

just drop it on your sdcard. Once there you should be able to access it through an app called my files. select the apk and it should install. Once installed reboot phone for good measure and try it.
Yeah I guess I should have explained further, you need to place the file on the phone so if I understand correctly you downloaded it str8 to the phone. As previously stated by madguitarist63 go to my files and check to see if the apk is there. The file should not be zipped, XDA does that and when its downloaded it should be in its raw form which is the apk. All you should need to do is select it and it will show you or ask you if you want to install. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help Im more than happy to assist.

Tales of our X8's and W8's !

Hey guys i'm just starting this thread so we can share our personal experiences with our beloved X8's. I want to unite all X8-tians Come on, we all have good times and bad times with our X8's and i want to hear them it doesn't matter what the story is. New rom, new SD Card, accidental discovery, EPIC GLITCHES (I have one I'll post soon)...hope there isn't another thread like this out there or that this is in the wrong section ...ok I'll start off and i hope this thread catches on
OK, so where should I start.....I guess my 1st brick i guess So one day i decided to take my dad's abandoned X8 and upgrade it to Gingerbread. Spent half a day learning up on rooting and Gingerbread and attempted it . I flashed nAa's MiniCM 2.0.7 at around 3.00 am (next day was a schooling day), and just as i was finishing i forgot 1 important thing...FORGOT TO FULLWIPE ...got a bootloop and actually cried myself to sleep (I swear to God i ain't lying ) and eventually found out that SEUS or PCC did the trick ! Then i joined XDA, hooked my X8 with GDX V13 and my adventure began *epic music plays*
Very easy for me to explain why I'm on XDA .
I'm french (it's not a scoop..) and all of french's forums are translating most of posts we can find here.. So rather waiting for a translation, I decided to see by myself this site and finally.. stay and create an account..

Exact,
They're not trying to make their own tutos... Just translate words by words.. And XDA forces me to remember my poor English.. so very cool for me
Ok, here's my tale:
I remember very well I first attempted to install GingerDX. You cant imagine that I actually forgot to full wipe and I was wondering why the heck I am getting bootloops. Now, that I am looking back, I realized that I had gone a long way. And its all thanks to my courage and HUGE support of the XDA forum!!!

Hey guys i'm just starting this thread so we can share our personal experiences with our beloved X8's. I want to unite all X8-tians Come on, we all have good times and bad times with our X8's and i want to hear them it doesn't matter what the story is. New rom, new SD Card, accidental discovery, EPIC GLITCHES (I have one I'll post soon)...hope tther thread like this out there or that this is in the wrong section ...ok I'll start off and i hope this thread catches on
OK, so where should I start.....I guess my 1st brick i guess So one day i decided to take my dad's abandoned X8 and upgrade it to Gingerbread.

My first "brick" or maybe something like that, happened during my first week of using my x8, I got bored so I googled how to root x8 and found xda
there I remember the primitive way of rooting my x8 there, flashing back my x8 from 2.1 to 1.6 (rooted) then flash back to 2.1 (rooted) haha, during the process I forgot to remove something during the flashing method there I got stuck into a bootloop, the hell I'm scared haha, good thing I reread the instructions haha.
Lesson learn: Always read carefully

OK i have 2 stories actually
1: 1 week i had phone i was playing games on the phone and going to the bathroom suddenly i stumbled my self and my phone hit teh flore. luckly it didn t fell in WC (it was close)
2: after 1 month i had another problem. i was on stock, not rooted.... and i was trying juice defender ultimate (downloaded from internet not Market ). So i played with it. Then suddenly FCs on some android preoces bla bla bla... so i had no idea what to do (i didn t know about XDA then - it is my first android phone). I tried with SEUS and PCC non of them didn t want to repair or update it. As I didn t know about flashtool so i take it to the shop for repair.
1 brick: nothing special
wanna hear my story?
well i always play with my x8..i always test new roms and see if its good...when i install roms i always go to xrecovery, do full wipe, wipe cache, format system, wipe dalvik and then finally install custom zip...
but then, last week i tried fde...i did the usual things: xrec, full wipe, format system, wipe cache and dalvik.. i diddnt go to "install custom zip" and out of my excitment i pressed REBOOT NOW...
who can guess what happened?
ok, heres my tale throughout my x8 life.....
Lets start with rooting,
One dsy, i decided to upgrade my X8's OS, My x8 is on a contract btw, but anyway, it took me ages to pluck up the courage to actually root my phone, once i had rooted my phone,my heart beating like s&it (LOL), i installed xreocovery, so i did, then i flashed gingerdx v011, I joined xda when gingerdx v011 was out, so i flashed that, and i liked it..,...
Then, once i had reached v018 of gingerdx, the news had spread on xda about bootloader, so i decided to unlock it. My date was 10w47, so i was clear to unlock, 1st attempt, And i succeeded! I was ever so happy, then i decided to install LinuxDX (back then, alfs or nAa wasnt out, so i had no choice but to flash that custom kernel). All went perfectly, and i felt like i was awesome in succeeding
My first brick was a simple 'forgeting to do full wipe' problem, i was alright in fixing it though, just a simple full wipe in recovery
Now, not only am i flashing ROM's, Im making my own Custom ROM
my first rom was hackdrod by raucht

I got my X8 in February of 2011 and that was also my first Android device. My brother had gotten a White X8 (which ran 1.6) for Christmas just a month before I got mine. Mine ran 2.1
So, from March to August I pretty much experemented with apps and games and all that stuff.
Now, I'm not a big mobile gamer so I just accepted tthe fact that the X8 WASN'T a gaming phone, unlike some people who just force their phones to play HD Games.
Then, on August 23rd 2011 at 10:27PM I decided to root my phone with Super One Click. I actually didn't read Any ttutorials on how to root my phone. I just Googled ffor Super One Click as i had read on OTHER forums that they had rooted their Android phone with tthat.
A week later, I decided to install a ROM. This wàs a **** decision. I followed a video on YouTube and the link for the ROM (MINICM6) that was in the description was old and the ROM was buggy. The description CLAIMED that the ROM was fully functional.
WiFi (which claimed to be working) didn't work and neither did the camera and a ffew other features.
I panicked. I literally cried. I thought, 'well, there no fuc*Ing possible way to get back to android 2.1". I was wrong.
later the next day I went on my PC and check PC Companion.luckily it worked. I was back on good ol' 2.1
I rooted again and stayed on 2.1 ffor several months.
(Btw I joined XDA a week after going back to Android 2.1 )
Then, on November 4th 2011 at 11:51PM I downloaded and copied GingerDXv017 to my SD Card and flashed in XRecovery. (Yes I know its CWM, but read on!)
I got a boot loop. I was crying and panicking again. I swore not to install a ROM again.
Then, I went on my dads X8 and talked to my friend Quinny898. He said to do a full wipe. Which I was I forgot :0
I fillwiped and it booted into GINGERDX! I immediately checked the WiFi and Camera and they both worked! Horray!

Once again, last Saturday (a week ago) I attempted to unlock my bootloadEr. I literally had my warranty and X8 box ready just incase I bricked it. Luckily i got SEMC SIMLOCK CERTIFICATE. I proceeded. And all went well. I installed alfs and boom, happy days!
I think I've typed too.much already. Considering I typed this from my X8. ^__^

x8 is my first android phone so when i bought it i had never imagine how wonderful is...actually i bought it because my previous nokia xpress mussic was destroyed and i had to bought a phone....
i used to use my x8 for listening to music ,gaming, surfing on internet and of course calling and texting.
the fun for me started when i was playing zenonia 3 and i couldn't success a mission so i had to paid for buying some good stuff(which was out of the question) or to hack it! after a research on how to do it i found about an app which you should be rooted(hex editor)!!! then i was finding more and more facsinating things!
after rooting i wanted dual touch and when i got it i was really happy!!!, and i started to look for more things about my beloved phone!
when i was trying to increse my phone's performance i found xda ... and you understand what happend.. a new world about my phone was discovered!!!!
i was trying many roms and modules that i found in xda but for long time i hadn't make an account because i thought it was pointless but after enjoy myself with the work of others i thought that the least i could do was a thank for their work so i made one to show my thankfullness to devs...so here i am!

Thats my story...
Now im using GINGERDX v22 and Alfs008
Idk my dad ask if i wont his HTC Desire what do you think???
Im eating some Fritt(+Vitamin (e) C)
xD...Delicious
my tale
i didn't brick my phone except once
because i learned everything before buying it(do u imagine that?)
The reason why I joined the xda community is that 2 years ago I bought a Xperia X1 and I spent days and days in order to make it impossible (xperia x1 perfect / full working phone with no bugs), which has so far proved unsuccessful. Then I stumbled on xperia x8 Android phone, which is the same day when he came into my hands ended up connected to the PC and modified (BL unlock, root, xrecovery ..... GDX , firedroid ). I still hope that developers will make at least one rom that will work fast, look good as an ICS, and be bugless.

A little help with a defy mb525 (soc) please!

Just bought one of these for £15.
But now am unsure of the safe/correct way to move from stock 2.2 to a more upto date OS..

I have the same problem as you... Rooting is the easy part.
Then, whenever I try installing a new update, my phone tells me it can't.
