Guys,
after playing around wwith rom cooking couldn't find what is causing incompability:
after a long phone call backlight turns off (black screen) and the only way is to reset. Short call are ok. Any suggestions where to dig and what files or registry keys should I check?

try digging in this .rgu, it seems to have most of the other power registrys inside:
EVK OEM/DEVICE/COMMON/OEMDRIVERS/bcdce8f2-eeed-407d-96c4-7b91608061b0.rgu
OSK BUILD/OEM/OEMDrivers/bcdce8f2-eeed-407d-96c4-7b91608061b0.rgu

thanks mate,
but I can only find this rgu in that particular folder in my oskitchen:
21b6ed86-a505-4ad7-a4aa-b8bb93c926d9.rgu
it is probably a hidden file, have you got the hidden files toggle on in folder options?
the .rgu is definatly in both kitchens
i attatched an untouched bcdce8f2-eeed-407d-96c4-7b91608061b0.rgu from OSK/BUILD/OEM/OEMDrivers..
i have seen hidden files not show when the hidden files toggle is on.
i use acdsee photo manager to untick the hidden properties
(dont trust windows,acdsee photo manager shows all files regardless of the hidden attribute, the only reason i use that app )
you can download the acdsee version i use (v9) from here

I think skyguar might be getting a bit confused here. I think he is talking about trying to find the file on the phone its self. Skyguar you need to find the file in oskitchen its self before you build the rom. It probably is a hidden file in windows explorer. Its like editing the app.dat files or an app.reg file.
he is looking in his kitchen

I've been searching the forums for this, and can only find info on T-Mobile, and changing the skin to the WM5...
when making a call or using the dialer, or in a call, that ugly off-color CINGULAR logo is in the upper left. Any way to remove this, or at least change it?
thanks
create a replacement dialer logo .gif that is
size: 105px x 23px
name: "Carrierlogo"
place in location: /windows folder and replace existing .gif file named "Carrierlogo"
after replacing: soft reset
you may want to save a copy of the oem "Carrierlogo" file... or not
i created a blank/transparent .gif because i don't need it to say anything but any image will appear so have fun
Dude..I can't copy it..because the image is in use...
I have attached the file I use. (I take NO credit for making the file, as I found it elsewhere).
Use the instructions above and copy it over the existing one in the \windows folder ... then soft reset.
larsjeparsje - make sure you don't have the phone dial pad window open.

interesting... i totally removed "Carrierlogo.gif" from \windows and:
1) no adverse affect. phone works fine with no image at all.
2) i do not see the carrier displayed as you state.
The problem is, I can't delete the Carrierlogo.gif...
i read in another post that it may related to rom version... search is your friend... sorry

I don't see the fuss about the rotate icon. You could write your own in 5 minutes or less.

Thanks V - i dont know about 5 mins - maybe for you being a wizzo programmer and all! But for the rest of us 5 days more like
kool neat although there isnt too much need for the button, seeing as however you use the device it auto rotates the screen and it gets it right
one question... what is that theme??? it looks amazing! i want i want!! ... ahem... i mean, what is its name and where can it be found? (sorry about deviating, but i must know!!)
Anyway, as a passerby, just want to help someone here being not answered thoroughtly, such as follows:

And you can download many beautiful themes from my friends in www.hkppc.com
Doesn't work for me
I tried this screen rotate fix on my TyTn (HTC Rom 1.35), and it doesn't work.
I looked at this, but quite frankly there are so many apps that include this as an included feature...
It does't work on my TyTN (ROM 2.11.258.1) ... Neiter the xelashiu's solution, nor vijay555's registry keys...
Is there a solution?!
Since the new ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=504094) the Opera Browser Icon is very ugly.

}
Is there any way to change it? I prefer the transparent one...
Here a bigger picture, to proof that the new opera icon is quite ugly...
Anyone any idea how to replace it?
Ain't it though?
Step 1:
Create a .REG file with the contents below and import the .REG file:
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Opera9ICO]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Opera9ICO\SelectIcon]
@="\\windows\\OperaL.exe,131"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Opera9ICO\DefaultIcon]
@="\\windows\\OperaL.exe,131"
Step 2:
Adjust the contents of .LNK (Opera Browser.lnk) icon file as follows:
Code:
39#"\Windows\OperaL.exe"?:Opera9ICO
Power off/on your device ... should do the trick.
HTH,
hilaireg,
thanks, though i have to ask again a bit. sorry!
step 1,
so i copy paste the whole content
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Opera9ICO]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Opera9ICO\SelectIcon]
@="\\windows\\OperaL.exe,131"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Opera9ICO\DefaultIcon]
@="\\windows\\OperaL.exe,131"
into a .txt-file, rename it to .reg and import and run it?
step 2,
because in the reg-file OperaL.exe is mentioned, I looked it up.
Seems as if the OperaL.exe has the same 'stupid' icon.
And how or where do I
Code:
Adjust the contents of .LNK (Opera Browser.lnk) icon file as follows:
Hi DaM79,
Step 1:
That is correct, create a .REG file with the complete contents of the "Code" window in the post. You'll need to use a utility to import the .REG file - ex: PHM Registry Editor, FdcSoft (dotFred) Task Manager, etc.
Step 2:
It does, the .REG file and the adjustment to the .LNK file instruct the system to use a different icon that is embedded inside the OPERAL.EXE file. An .EXE/.DLL file can typically contain many icon resources ... which is the case with OPERAL.EXE. You can use a utility to view icon resouces - ex: ResView.
The Opera Browser shortcut (.LNK) is usually found in .\Windows\Start Menu\... - you can use File Explorer to navigate to the folder location on your device - you may need to enable Show All Files in File Explorer.
HTH,
I tried to change it, but on my side I can't change the icon settings.
So I can't get the icon change to work one bit.
Do I need software to do it?
I also tried to import the registry file with PHM editor, but it grey's the option for it.
Everything you need is attached to my previous response.
Cheers,
Thank you for pointing that out to me.
I don't know why I haven't checked that post and tried the software you mentioned.
It works like a charm now. Thank you!

so now i need your help to change the original programs folder path to this EXE
YOU NEED TO TRY IT
installing: unzip it and copy it anywhere in your diamond and make shortcut to startmenu
Very smooth indeed. Nice one mate.
Got a question though. How do you create a shortcut in the start menu to a program like this that hasn't been installed?
look at this - Link Creator 1.3 ... it should do the job... (if u are using english rom)
Wonderful
Is there the settings.exe?
I think this is the same as something that should already be on your phone. Check in \Windows for a file called folderview.exe (it's on my Fuze and I presume it's in Diamond's as well). I've seen this in the past since the tweak to get 4 columns in the programs directory will not work for this file. What I've done n the past is set this as a soft key to make it quicker to get to.

Renaming this file to folderview.exe and cooking it in the ROM overwriting the existing file wont help?

Thanks guys for the solving my shortcut program. It was really bugging me that I didnt have a shortcut to the TomTom 7.9.
This How To will show you step by step how to create a cab file.
You can cab up anything you want to put on your phone in ANY directory...
Cab Manager Program
I use and recommend WinCE Cab Manager (Get it HERE)
it has a 30 day free trial and is $99 after that...
Sure there are more out there... Feel free to Post
Getting Started
First you will need a file to cab. We will start with a basic single manila file.
i have attached one if you don't already have..
* Here you can simply add a document/picture to your my documents folder
After Installing Open WinCE Cab Manager
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Enter Name's for Company and whatever cab your making
Just Click Next..
Just Click Next Again....
And now click finish...
Now this should be what you have. Displays all info for cab file
Now we need to add the files.
From windows explorer just click and drag the files right on top of Files...
Once you do that the following dialog box pops up...
Here you can change name or attributes
Click Location tab
Here you can choose what directory to put file(s) in. you can also add a new folder
Click Ok
Now back at main screen
Here you can "Allow Uninstall"
also you can Compress
I recommend compressing for files over a meg or two
From the menu click CABINET...PROPERTIES...
Here you can change ALL properties of cab file
Click OK...
Back at the Main Screen...
All left to do is review and Save
You can also add Shortcuts and make changes to the registry...
Now to Save...Choose location and SAVE!
