Dear All,
I have the following phone:
Model number: GT-I9100G
Android version: 2.3.5
Baseband version: I9100GZCKI1
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7 [email protected]#2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD-ZCKI1
This phone is original bought in China Mainland, so, no google sync, no market, no Whatsapp... Even no useful GPS...
I was reading lot of posts and I decided to change my firmware into a european one...
I get the open europe version, download Odin, put in debug mode...
SOFT BRICK! (Now I know perfectly the meaning of this).
PANIC MODE ON!
Cold sweat running my back, ashtray full, 2:30 am... Nothing.
Next morning, after a hard night full of nightmares with my phone, I was searching information how to get it back... so I get the official chinese firmware.
Download again, use Odin, Start... NOTHING!
I was searching a JTAG service center in China when OMG, a clever malasian guy said:
"The secret to the sauce: The correct PIT file should have been included, and "re-partition" option is ticked and the correct PIT file for I9100G is as attached."
**I can't post the link**
(PS: THANK YOU VERY VERY VERY MUCH!!!!)
uffff! Saved.
As now I have the key to come back to the original status... Let's try other options...
I tried superoneclick: Blocked on step 7
I tried another post here suggesting use the I9100ZNKG5-ownhere-v1.2.4.Odin:Success, but, can't turn on. Stops at the beggining with our yellow triangle friend...
Oh, I've forget to say that I'm in china, so search and download firmwares is an epic task! hotfile, rapidshare and so on are blocked! At least I have a VPN, but I'm sure that not everyone have...
So now, what can I do? Is there any solution to take the chinese firmware out?
I was wondering maybe the .pit file is the solution to use ZNKG5... but I can't find it anywhere.
I have read another post from a Colombian guy (sorry, I don't have the link) that there is method changing the modem in a clockwork orange... really, too complicated to me.
My intention is keep a post with all the files needed to change the firmware if is possible.
You can put here your links and I will upload the files into chinese web storages, because the problem is from phones bought from China, so I guess people will be living in China...
I get the open europe version, download Odin, put in debug mode...
SOFT BRICK! (Now I know perfectly the meaning of this).
PANIC MODE ON!
Usual is not flashing G Model firmware but flashing i9100 firmware .
PIT files are dangerous do not use or repartition as that may brick your phone .
jje
So, can I use any firmware meanwhile is G version?
Maybe I've downloaded the not G one...
Well, try is worthy.
You need to use i9100g firmware, I9100 stuff will not work.
Now to root you can flash this kernel, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1369977
There is a custom rom for the i9100g, let me just find it and I will come back and link
Edit: rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374135
You can also check http://www.sammobile.com/firmware/ for stock unmodified roms, but make sure you use one for i9100g, that g is important, it's almost a totally different phone than the international version, only the name and screen are the same.

To be honest I don't know that much about the i9100g, download your stock firmware, from sammobile or elsewhere, (I tried looking but the results where mostly in Chinese which I don't speak, sorry) so if the version you flash does not work you can jump back
Here is more info; http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2068824/all
Also Google for checkfus as it should allow you to download the firmwares from Samsung.

FFS, G model has a different CPU do not use any NONE G firmware.
Chinese model has different signed boots which will reject any firmware which is NOT for the Chinese version.
Double Trouble
Take it back, go to a black market and buy the international version
or just enjoy the phone as it was meant to be.
But we are speaking about software right?
I mean, must be a way to change the boot right or something right?
And hope I could turn it back, but too late... And I'm sure that more people should be in the same situation.

You could use JTAG and change the boots to the normal G version instead of the Chinese G boots.
Hey! I have the market on my phone! and Whatsapp!
As soon as I can link webs I will put all of the information!!!
Yujuuuuuuuuuuu!!!!
It's like have a new phone!
Ok, I can paste links.
I will upload the files and share them next week.
Ok!
As promised here are the files and guide about how to change your chinese i9100g into a "civilizated" phone:
STEP 0 (SECURITY COPY)
Make a security copy of your contacts, pictures, movies.... This process will delete EVERYTHING from your phone.
STEP 1 (ODIN)
Get Odin from below link and open it
http://www.wupload.com/file/2677120037/Odin3-v1.85.zip
STEP 2 (ROOT)
Download below link and root your phone with Odin.
http://www.wupload.com/file/2677118927/I9100G_ZCKH4_KERNEL_ROOT.tar
There are several guides on this forum about how to do but moreless is:
Take out the connection wire if you have it
Turn off your phone
Put it into download state (volume down+home+power)
Press volume up to confirm the download state
Turn on Odin
Connect the phone to the computer
on PDA use the KERNEL ROOT file that you have just downloaded
re-partition must be UNchecked
START
STEP 3 (ROM)
Download the link below and do the same procedure as above but in the PDA put the file you just have downloaded.
http://www.wupload.com/file/2677117442/I9100G_ZCKI1_MIC_03.tar
STEP 4 (WIFI & Yellow triangle on start up)
Download below link and same as before (Put this file on PDA and START).
http://www.wupload.com/file/2677119517/i9100G_ZCKI1_KERNEL.tar
Your phone will be in chinese as when you bought it. Just change the language.
ENJOY!!!
Oh, in case of failure or just "in case"...
Original firmware:

I have strange touchscreen problem on my sm-n910f. After I flashed custom recovery and one of the custom roms my touchscreen stopped working properly, even if I revert to stock. It looks like touch surface became smaller, right and bottom part of the screen doesn't work any more. Phone seems to use smaller surface for touch, so to press very bottom icon I need to press 1-2cm above it. It behaves the same in any rom and any recovery. See photos, I activated show touches in dev options. I try to look if anyone had the same problem, but I couldn't find anything. Any ideas?
I forgot to add that spen works perfectly fine.
Well I know what I did wrong so just in case someone else has the same problem: I flashed wrong recovery, one for n915f (no idea how I managed to get that file instead of proper one). Funny enough reflashing good one or flashing stock rom doesn't solve my problem. Over the weekend I will go to Samsung shop, hope they can help me.
Ouch maybe they can.. id say touchscreen driver may be corrupt or something. Id try a 3 part odin flash if i were you

I tried to flash original firmware and two custom roms, no change unfortunately. I also believe it is not hardware fault, but I have no idea how to fix it.
I love Samsung warranty policy in the UK, 28 days from purchase date they replace faulty device without asking for a reason, so I got mine replaced. Pure luck.
I still believe it would be know if what I have done is reversible. I understand why flashing wrong recovery is messing with graphic driver, but I would like to know why flashing proper one doesn't solve it.
I would appreciate if someone could share some light on that matter.

Probably has to do something with partition size. When you flashed the wrong recovery, a repartition was done and it messed up your device. Flashing the right one in a messed up partition did not solve the problem. Perhaps if you had tried to flash the appropriate PIT File for your device, the problem would have been solved. But, in the future, the safest option is to be extra careful about which files you flash. Glad you got it sorted out!

If the PIT file didn't work, then it seems that the replacement was the only way to go.

Can you post the info? Like G930AXXXXXXXX
I think it probably changed to b8. Just a guess based on other models for this update. Think before updating on this one if that's the case!

It looks like you have the ATT baseband with B4 bootloader. The fifth number before the end indicates the B# in case you didn't know. I suggest flashing that same baseband to try to fix to original. If it works, you can think about flashing the latest version, which is B#8. Look in the Guides , News, and Discussion section for tutorials about flashing, download links for Odin, Samsung drivers and Zip files. You can download the firmware files from a couple reputable sites out there. Everything is explained in the guides multiple times. The only thing that seems to mess people up is when the FRP lock is on, so figure out how to go into developer mode to turn it off First! before flashing anything. I spent a few hours reading and watching videos but the actual flash takes a few minutes. Good luck.
good day everyone,
Please forgive me for asking this about the VNS-L23. I know there are tons on similar issues on the forum, I've been reading but non specific to my model. I also know that some of the solutions may work on the VNS-L23 variant as well but, I'm swamped and a bit confused. Can someone please assist in helping me restore the VNS-L23 back to stock OR the latest OS/firmware that is available?
I tried flashing a Nougat firmware, flash was successful but, when phone rebooted it would not go past the Huawei eRecovery, no matter what i try.
I tried flashing other VNS-L23 firmwares via 3 button method...no success
I tried 'Download latest version and recovery'...no success
I am able to get into Fastboot mode.
I tried to flash TWRP...i was unsuccessful (ADB did recognize device).....on FASTBOOT screen i see Phone: Locked FRP: unlocked...failed...command not allowed (i think)
I tried to use DC unlock-er to make some headway, of course i have to make a purchase costing 15 pounds. I always support these things but, i do not want to purchase and it still does not work.
According to DC unocker's detection:
Firmware: VNS-L23C605B120
FB LockState: Locked
USER LockState: Locked
You guys are awesome here and i know I'll get back my device to work....Please, I just bought it, not even 2 days and i cant even use it now because of this issue.
Many thanks in advance....Ronald
Is this the 2016 or 2017 model?
2016

But what are exactly your issue ?
Maybe you don't need rollback files...

My version is vns-L23C212B336
I have two problems:
1. When I'm on horizontal (for example whatching a vodeo in YouTube, or playing in a game) the screen rotates itself, and the comeback, even when the autorotate is off.
2. When I'm going to type something the keyboard hides itself and I have to open it again.
And that's all, I hope you can help me.
By the way, I have tried to make a factory reset but it didn't work.

Well, looking onto the UNIFIED HELP THREAD, in post #6
there is "UNBRICKING AND DOWNGRADING FROM EMUI 5" section.
Here are some rollback packages but not for L23...
You need that package and need the full ota L23C212B130 firmware
from which extract update.app.
I don't know how to grab those files. I've searched with
Firmware Finder but B130 full ota isn't there...
So, go to next step...

B336 seems to be the latest firmware and no update are available.
If you want play a bit with your device you should consider

Hi, I have the same problem with my Vns l23, could you tell me what firmware did you use to fix it?
Hello there,
I want to port the J120W firmware (Android 6.0) to the J120x phones (Android 5.1.1). I have both firmware files and I only see a difference in overall size of the partitions.
After updating my Android Dev Tools I've fixed CSC, boot.img, and system.img. I don't know what to do with the J120W references in the configuration files, I could change those to refer to any other J120 model. Nonetheless I want to test the firmware without said changes and see what odin, or hopefully logcat has to say. The firmware "should" be ready to flash, but I can't seem to find the phone to do so.
If you want to help beta test the firmware, hit me up.
Update: It works!, It's booting up!. Bluetooth pairing and 4G support both seem to be broken. I think I can easily fix that.
wow you already got it up and running, nice! i would love to flash it but i dont have a pc atm. Anyway any progress on the Bluetooth pairing and 4G support?
Not yet, I've tried many things but both Bluetooth and 4G are broken. It also has wifi and battery problems.
It seems like these problems can only be solved by making an appropiate rom from the extracted resources of this firmware. The problem is that I don't know how to do that. I've tried before to no avail.
Hey is this rom has been realese? I want to try this rom (sorry my english is bad )
