The X10 used 2.6.29 kernel

Hi,
The X10 use 2.6.29 kernel (semc-android SEMC #2).
I want to make a question about how that effect the 1.6(donut with kernel 2.6.27) version?
And that is the difference between X10 (1.6 with kernel 2.6.29) and Generic 2.1 version (Eclair with same kernel 2.6.29)?
I hope to make clear my questions.

Some x10i were sold in china now, comes with 2.1 already and Google buzz installed.
But I bought mine in shanghai with 1.6.

If some mobiles were sold in china with 2.1 maybe we can get update files from these mobiles and flash our x10 tru semc !!!

My X10 is running 1.6 now. But I saw google buzz in widget option in photos from another chinese android forum. Actually, this phone is made in china. Unlocked one is around 3700 rmb approx 500usd. Later on, I will confirm with others lets see if any 2.1 there. Sorry for the misunderstanding before.

One guy at another forum uploaded package for EMMA and he says that it's Android 2.1 for X10

well its an esa file, i opened it with winrar and was able extract another file from it but this file has no extention.. so im not sure what to do with it now

well I see it is on Russian language,I think you need EMMA for flashing,wait for few more days till real update will be released,if we could wait 6 months few more days is not a problem,well at least not for me

Just wanted to let you all know that I just upgraded my X10a to 2.1 global generic. I was running this FW X10a R2BA026 0001 CUSTOMIZED GEL/LUSTER WHITE NAM_1. After updating to 2.1 and checking the hidden service menu, my software was as follows:
Model: X10a
Phone Software Version: 1227-4612_2.0.A.0.504 GENERIC - user
File system version: WORLD-1-2-5-6_2.0.A.0.504
Customization: 1234-4820
OK here is how to flash the firmware.

Can you please tell me what does it indicate about country in the secret menu?
it is located in SERVICE INFO - MODEL INFO and then model, country and brand. so what does it tell about country?
this is because CUSTOMIZED GEL/LUSTER WHITE NAM_1, what you are talking about is not yet released by sonyericsson.
the only GENERIC FW for x10a released is the BRAZIL GENERIC, which is CUSTOMIZED BR.
Also for your query about how to upload your firmware to this forum, you can get better help from the senior members like arkedk or im_iceman or many others.

Hi,
The country is WORLD..no other country is specified. The CUSTOMIZED GEL/LUSTER WHITE NAM_1 was my 1.6 firmware before I updated through SEUS and got the current 2.1 version.
I will contact the senior members and see what they say.

Yes, I think so. But, I am assuming SE renamed it to world generic? At least this is what the software info says on my secret service menu. One thing I noticed is that the Wisepilot app comes pre-installed on 2.1 as supposed to downloading from the SE app store in 1.6.

I had LAM generic 1.6 and had wisepilot installed
maybe is LAM cause SE MX release their fw and lam is controlled by mexico xD
can't wait to reflash it with lam yay

will be on all 2.1 updates regardless of region as this "WORLD" string only depicts the file system version which is a common thing amongst all 2.1 updates. The "1-2-5-6" string "may" mean the UMTS band it supports.

Oh ok. I did not know that sorry. So I assume that the 2.1 version I have is generic LAM?

Yes.
I am more curious with CDA 1233-8200 as it is also for X10a with the country as AMERICA.
I have not been able to find out if it is branded or not. It is definitely not the AT&T branded one as another user has confirmed that their's is different than this one.

Hmmm that's interesting. Did they update to 2.1 yet or still on 1.6? I'm in the USA and would like to have the generic for north america. Not sure how different it is from the LAM one?

I used the LAM when on 1.6 and it was great for me. I am now using the Generic World version on my X10a as I couldn't wait unit the "a" version hit. Have been running it without a hitch.
I believe that mystery CDA is still on 1.6. Hopefully someone has some insight on this code and can shed some light to what it actually is.

I might try to reflash my phone to 1.6 generic lam and see if there's any success nd will tell you, sadly can do that in like 2 or 3 days, kinda busy today tho
got a confirmation from SE LAM that the update is already out
will do it tomorrow

ok reflashed to 026 LAM and updating to 2.1
around 30 mins to confirm that is world generic just do me a favor put the keys to press so i can check the hidden menu

In the key lock screen, press "home > back > back > home > back > home > home > back.

hi everybody I have tried to root my xperia x8 because i wanted to update the android version to 2.1 , i downloaded the superoneclick 1.5.1 and i did all the steps i've read here but at the end it says "FAILED the device was not rooted" and in my phone it appears the superuser aplication but i can't access to the root explorer because this message appears:"Root explorer has not yet managed to obtain root access.Because of issues with Superuser, this often happens the first time the app is run but is usually fine from then on."
I have no idea of what is happening , i did all the steps:i put my phone in debug mode , then connect the phone and click "root" and it is still not rooted :S
If someone can help i would be very happy , i'm about to become crazy :S

If you have android v1.5 Donut and you want to upgrade too android 2.1 just install PC Companion (Sony Ericson software that you get with the phone in the box) and let the aplication search for any update of firmware for X8.

actually i have 1.6 version i've tried to update it with pc companion but it says that it has the latest version....

You don't need to root your android to do the upgrade.. xD just upgrade with sony ericsson update service, and after that you can root your phone normally using 2.1 firmware..
Although, you need to substituite a file in superoneclick: "thecage.." to "neuter" but rename to the original.. (sorry if i can't explain well, but i'm portuguese and i'm 16.. xD) search on the forum or wait so i can post the zip file already working, because i don't have it on my phone..

You can flash with E15i firmware and then flash X8a baseband that you can find in thread in my signature bellow

...maybe there is a way to update with pc companion like he is in Europe...
And I read about updating from other country on development section.

Easy way it's changing the SI number so it solves it like a workaround, still i'm not sure if it provides his language (i think it does) after that he can even install froyo or ginger eh
There are lot's of tutorials with infos to do it right in dev section, check them out.

well... actually i have the flash tool and i found this firmware "X8 Shakira E15i_2.1.1.A.0.6_generic.ftf" but my xperia has the e15a version if flash it with this firmware what would happen?

you should get android 2.1.... and to your root issues you should set usb on debugging mode and you mustn´t mount sd card just set charge phone instead.

so no matter if mi xperia is e15a and the firmware i would use in the flash tool is e15i

can someone help, i have x10i, but its prototype, "not for sale", i want to do update but error happens, sad update only trough SOMC network, i google it and sad that only authorized person can update, so, big question is can we do saomething about it, can i make this prototype to be ordinary x10i phone

Why u buy that phone?
You can try to flash stock 2.3.3 se rom via flashtool, but take it as your own risk, dont blame if something gone wrong, lol. Just suggestion dude!!!
BTW, u shouldnt buy that phone
