Hello guys,
I know this is newbie to ask but i wanted to confirm,
I plan on installing Andriod on my HD2,
I got all things ready as per the guide,
But i want to ask if keeping the SD card empty(With nothing stored in it)
is absolutely necessary to install Android(SD installation)?
if you flash an sd rom and if you do this for the first time it is not so necessary. but after changing a few roms you may face some problems related to sd and can solve these by formatting sd.
Thnx mutil,
I will proceed with my installation without formatting,
If any problems arise I shall come back here...

ok what im asking is if i want to change the wp7 rom that i currently use if i take out the storage card during flashing then restart the phone with the sd card inserted would it read everything as if nothing happened (because its already in wp7 format from previous build) would it remember all the stuff or do i have to reformat?
I thought of that and tried it but it did not work. I did reset the phone before partioning for dual boot. maybe trying without hiting reset may work. but i doubt it. However, wp7 seems to backup and restore some things on its own. some app reappeared on their own but not all. still trying to find out why
Pretty much exactly what the title says. I have Yuki's v4 lang 2 WP7 Rom installed, as well as Rafdroid's android SD build on my SD card. I would like to update to Yuki's v5 lang 2, but I don't want to do that if it's going to mean I have to reinstall WP7 and Rafdroids SD build losing everything because that takes forever and I don't want to lose all of my data. So if anyone knows how to do this without having to repartition the drives please point me in the right direction ! Thanks.
I was sort of wondering the same thing. This is something I want to try: Install the new ROM with no SD card on the phone, then factory reset and put the SD card back on while in magldr... I think it should work just like when resizing the wp7 partition to dual boot Android... but don't know for sure... Yet!
That might work, but I have a feeling when you flash without the SD card, some problems are likely to occur. That or when you put the SD card back in after flashing a new WP7, it might re-partition the drives to FAT16 and unallocated. I'll give it a go, because I'm going to put a new SD build on my card anyways, I'll let you know how it turns out.
EDIT: Nope that didn't work, it re-partitioned the drive just like I thought it would.
Anybody got any more ideas for other people to try?
idk if this will work, but if you have a spare sd card, flash it with that in it then put in the old one
I've also heard you can copy the partitions to a separate drive (such as a separate SD or USB hard drive) and then copy them back after you've reinstalled the WP7 ROM, however it didn't work for me (I'm using Xbmod v 1.11 NoDo). WP7 kept saying "Your storage card has changed, please format or replace blah blah" something like that.
You can try it but I would suggest just doing it the long way as you know it'll work, and you're less prone to make mistakes once you get it down (after wasting HOURS of making mistakes, I can reflash a windows ROM and re-partition everything including putting my Android build back in under 15 mins
So here is my questions...
1. Is it possible to install WP7.5 without sd card? because when i tried once it burned my sd card and not there is no way to recovery it with revive way that are mentioned here cause i can't find the sd neither on phone, neither from computer i had checked disk management and is not there i sure sd card is dead, so i dont want to take risk it again with the 32 gb card that i bought.
When i tried to install i went successfully to Windows Phone 7 build 7004 XBmod-Yuki ROM v2 but when i trying to install update with this way (http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/09/16/how-to-install-windows-phone-7-5-mango-7720-on-htc-hd2-video/) i have various problems... sometimes its freeze on loading screen sometimes and sometimes its failing to update... so my next question is...
2. Can someone make a step-by-step tutorial to update it?
Thanks in advance
It's not possible to flash WP7 without an SD card.
Here is a guide to install Back to the Future. I don't use it but many have. If you don't feel confidant installing it, you should try one of the other, non-updateable ROMs. They are much easier to install. There's a good guide here Just make sure you have the right Radio, MAGLDR 1.13 and the ROM you want to use
hmm thnks i see that video tutorial (my link) was missing some parts... I will try this with the 1 gb sd card
that helpd thxxxx

Look at my thread for TMOUS TIPS. It talks extensively about how to unlock sd card after you discover it doesn't work with your phone. HARD RESET AND UNLOCKER APP. It is not a big deal that the install fails cause you can always go back to earlier version by reflashing. SEE MY POST ON TIPS!!!!
I have the same problem b4....But I found that I put my 32g sd with nokia mophone....after that can recoverd...sorry for my poor En..Hope U understand,or U can try to format with a digital camera..I didn try.I like to know result.
Earlier this month took the leap from my original WM6.5 to WP7 Ultrafruit rom. And I love it. However my SD is kind of slow and it makes my phone reboot on occasion. I have bought myself a new SD card to replace it. I am a complete noob when it comes to these things so I have no idea what I need to do to avoid problems? I am humbly asking for a step by step guide telling me the things I need to do. I am also wondering if I can use my Live activation code again within the same month, or do I have to wait? ... or is it required at all? Thanks in advance....

Well i have struggled with this too. Simply formatting the new card to FAT 32 and inserting it doesn't work.... I've tried.
I also believe that as of rom 7403 ( if i remember correctly) an SD card has to be installed during the flash/ install process which kind of suggest the OS grabs what it needs and relies on it!
There may be a way to format it so it is accepted but there are all manner of issues with brand /type/ speed of micro SD cards around, so my best advice would be to back up your data and re flash to the latest rom with the new card installed. If you are happy with the ROM you currently have you can also insert the card and do a hard reset ..but all of your data and apps will be lost.
I have used my activation code on 4 separate occasions ( while i was trying out different roms) and haven't had a problem so far.
Reading many posts on the subject has led me to believe that the code is usable on up to 5 devices but to be honest i've never tried this out.
Good luck
Some sd cards are simply incompatible and/or cause problems in wp7. There is a thread that lists all known usable/problematic/unusable sd cards. From what you have described you have a card that falls into the problematic category. (edit) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=912904
After you get a card that is proven to work you will need to reset phone (settings, about phone, reset) your activation code will work FOR YOU as many times as needed. If someone else on different hardware uses your code that's when you/they will have to wait the required time.
Cheers
just make an image file of your Old card to the new one & it will work fine, the problem is the size.
One time I managed to image my 8gig to a 16gig card leaving an unpartitioned 8gig BUT somehow I managed to move it using easeus to merge with the android partition & now i'm trying to replicate it but somehow I cant
hi guys i have this problem: for a mistake i deleted the wp nand rom on hd2, and now i have the sdcard with many video files that i wanna save!
there is a way for save this files? i can flash a wp7 rom with a new sd card and then insert the old sdcard? or there are other ways?
hehehe... you dont accept fact and after few posts open new topic...
forget it... no way to extract files from WP partition... in two years nobody make this
if you want, save SDcard or make partition backup if someone (not likely but maybe, who know) make solution for this....
next time be smart and use Zune...
you could try to re-flash WP7 with a different card but must be exactly the same as your previous SD & "Maybe" WP7 will still recognize the Old card that you used before, give it shot & let us know
you may delete or formatted your SD card by accident or mistakenly operation, then you may feel panic and wonder if there is any way to recover those deleted, formatted and lost files, you can try this:
no, try what?
